Chapter 4: First Impression

Sparkling silver light filtered through the windows, and Sirius stood there, dressed in an emerald green suit, his dark eyes gleaming. Numerous pearls adorned his fingers as he twisted his wand, testing its abilities.

"You were saying," he continued.

"I apologise, M-master…" came a shivering voice from in front of him.

"Do you think your apologies serve any purpose?" Sirius' voice was dark, cold, and sharp. His gaze was icy as he looked over his opponent. He rather enjoyed the power and couldn't help but smile a little.

"I… I… am unsure… What else…"

"Unsure. Didn't look so unsure when you faltered. Fraternising with Mudbloods, blood traitors, and half-breeds," he said, his voice silky.

Silence followed, except for his enemy's shivers. Sirius was satisfied to see the floor beneath his enemy was drenched in tears or sweat.

"Very well," he said with finality. "Look me in the eyes."

His enemy slowly raised his head, hands trembling.

"Look. At. Me,” He ordered.

A pale white face, much younger, came into view. Long black hair, once perfect but now shabby and wet. Grey eyes, clouded by an emotion he did not yet know. The features were strikingly similar. With a jolt, he realised it was himself, his younger self!

Before he could stop, the darker version of Sirius cast a spell, and jet red sparks shot out of his wand. Pain, unlike anything he had ever known, consumed him. He lay there writhing, screaming. No one heard him, no one knew where he was. No one cared.

“Sirius! Sirius… W… Wake up!”

He woke with a start and was surprised to see a pair of specs zooming in front of him, bright sunlight reflected in it.

ISRAEL’S TENACIOUS FAITH

“Then Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am about to die, but God will be with you and will bring you back to the land of your fathers.”

(Genesis 48:21 LSB)

Not as a weak indecisive Jacob, does Israel bless Joseph’s two sons, adopting them as his own. He is rather a confident Israel who trusts in the Lord. Israel strives relentlessly with the Lord for the blessing of His creator. As Israel he blesses Joseph’s sons, recognising the primogeniture of the second born and not the first, much to Joseph’s horror! Shouldn’t the one born first be regarded as firstborn? But God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Israel clung to the Lord in anticipation of His blessing. He prophetically sees what the human eye could not see and what was impossible from human perspective: that over 300 years later God would bring Israel’s descendants back into the land.

Faith is not wishful thinking, the dim hope of a future “maybe”. Faith knows that the promises of God are “yes” and “amen” and submits to God’s timing patiently and tenaciously. Israel would never live to see the fulfilment of this promise in his lifetime. Israel’s faith was not the feel good message of a word for 2023 that speaks of breakthrough just round the corner. This was not a hundred metre dash but the wholehearted throwing of one’s whole hope on a God that, if He not be true, we are of all men most to be pitied!

How often we tritely quote Jeremiah 29:11:

“‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares Yahweh, ‘plans for peace and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

(Jeremiah 29:11 LSB)

We think that the state of affairs that we are in will not last the year for God’s plans for us are for a future and not for calamity. But we fail to read the previous verse:

““For thus says Yahweh, ‘When seventy years have been fulfilled for Babylon, I will visit you and establish My good word to you, to return you to this place.”

(Jeremiah 29:10 LSB)

God would only bring Israel back to their land 70 years later. How slow God’s fulfillments seem from the perspective of the unregenerate mind.

“This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles, knowing this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.””

People mock the soon coming of the Lord as we have been waiting for 2000 years. One pastor who was a Protestant terrorist before he got saved in a Northern Ireland jail, when the Lord encountered him, received a tract in his pocket put there by someone in the laundry service. The tract said, “Jesus is coming soon.” His initial reaction was to say, “Yeh, to a cinema near you.” He could not see it. It seemed fiction to him because he was unregenerate at the time.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

(Hebrews 11:1 LSB)

What kind of Faith is it that perceives that which the human eye can not detect? What kind of faith is it that believes when there is no seeming evidence, in the natural, that one can latch onto? It is not the faith of those who deny the reality of their sicknesses, of their trials and of the reality of present dangers. It is not the faith of those who will not contemplate the existence of that which stands in the way.

“And without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to do.”

(Romans 4:19–21 LSB)

Abraham contemplated his own body. He did not deny that he was elderly. Abraham did not rebuke his body. He did not say, “You are not old, body! You are a young body!” He acknowledge the impossibility of the situation BUT he knew that God was able to bring life out of death, that God was not a liar and he knew that trust was the order of the day because God had promised that the son would be born at that season the following year. It was then when he received that promise which he had already waited for, for over 24 years.

Some believers may not experience the breakthrough promised at the beginning of the new year when so called prophets will predictably promise positive and favourable outcomes for the coming year. They may live with debilitating sickness, financial difficulty or trials of persecution. It may be that some believers will never experience that breakthrough in their lifetime on this earth. But those who continue to trust in God with repentance, with humility and with a tenacious faith; they are those whose faith is patterned after Jacob’s and patterned after Abraham’s. Such tenacious believers that will not let go until they see God promise fulfilled are highly esteemed by God because they know that faith is the assurance/essence of things hoped for, the conviction/evidence of things not seen. The world cries “Your faith is blind and your hope is a fairy tale.” But the faith of the believer is tenacious and, in the end, the believer will be vindicated, even if that vindication awaits the return of our Messiah, Yeshua.

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!””

Under My Umbrella

This is my first headcanon, have mercy. I had to! Thank you to @centixue whose artwork inspired this fic. (Click that link the images will change your life.)

Ballet!Peter, LipSyncBattle!Peter, Crossdressing!Peter, Spideychelle

So one day it just randomly came up that Peter knows how to dance ballet

Pick your reason why.

Maybe Ned and Michelle are joking around about how Michelle used to have to do ballet when she was five, and how she only stayed for two lessons. All she remembers are the stupid ballet buns that she hated being pulled into.

And Peter being the little shit he is walks up and mentions eagerly that he still danced ballet

And Michelle and Ned are like no you don’t

And Peter does a pirouette and a leap to show them

And Ned is like BLOWN AWAY and keeps asking him to do it again.

So Peter decides to try and teach them how to do it. While Ned is just having a blast, Michelle falls a lot. Peter is doing his best to stop laughing but finally she hits the floor face first and he just loses it.

And Michelle is like “if you’re so good at it, how many can you do?”

Being Spiderman, Peter says 100 which is impossible but he likes challenges. Besides, he’s Spider-Man, so he can do anything.

Michelle insists that’s impossible but since Peter disagrees, she decides to make it a bet. So she proposes Peter needs to wear women’s clothes and do a wild dance for her and Ned if he can’t do it and if she loses, then Michelle and Ned will swap clothes for a week. Ned isn’t okay with this part of the deal but Michelle insists because Peter will lose.

Peter is so confident about this, he just goes for it without worrying. He’s on 34 pirouettes when he sees Michelle staring at him. She’s biting her lip and looking very amused, almost too amused. As he spins, he starts wondering why. This matters soooooo much for some reason.

Suddenly his focus point, what he uses to keep his balance, becomes her face. So he makes eye contact with her for every spin and she starts giving him these really confusing looks. He wants nothing more than to figure out what this face means and why it’s making him blush. Is she checking him out?

That question is enough to startle him, he stops spinning, he nearly falls flat on his face.

While Ned asks if he’s okay, Michelle just smiles down at him.

“Make it a really good dance, Parker,” she requests before walking out like she got what she wanted.

Once his ego recovered, Peter decided he’d have to really go for this. He took a week to prepare. He went into Aunt May’s closet for her party clothes and he put together an outfit. He rehearsed every day, sticking more and more risque dance moves in the routine, knowing he’d really make his friends laugh if he made it scandalous.

They settled on meeting in Ned’s house. When he walks in, he sees an open box of monopoly.

Michelle’s there already and she is splitting all of the monopoly money between herself and Ned

“The entertainment arrives,” she announces when she sees Peter.

“What are you doing?”

“We figured we could toss money at you while you dance.” Fuck.

This is to be expected from her.

He ignores her to go change in the bathroom. Peter even gives himself a pep talk in the bathroom mirror.

Something like “You’re Spider-Man. You can do this.” bc this little shit has battled giant mechanical birdmen and lived, he stole Cap’s shield, he took a punch from the Winter Soldier. He is ready to dance like he’s never danced before.

As he comes out, Ned and Michelle raise their voices and holler at him, Michelle even wolf whistles. Peter gets really into the song, his prop umbrella becoming almost a partner in the dance.

He’s shaking his hips and gesturing at both of them. Ned is covering his eyes for most of the routine, and Michelle is grabbing onto Ned’s shoulder for help as she holds her stomach and laughs.

Peter keeps running through his routine because he’s practiced and he knows exactly how to impress them. He’s flexible af and he uses that to the best of his ability.

He even gets so cocky he starts mouthing the lyrics to the song.

Finally, Ned and Michelle come back to the present and just starting clapping whenever he does something impressive. There’s one part where the umbrella goes between his legs and they both cover their eyes and have another laughing fit before they throw the fake money at him.

Peter actually starts to enjoy that part.

Honestly, this isn’t half bad.

Finally, Michelle seems to recover and just watches him as Ned still can’t keep it together.

And in that moment, Peter recognizes a difference. She isn’t embarrassed anymore, she’s just watching him with this smug look on her face. Just like when he was spinning. He stops for a moment, suddenly very self-conscious about the experience.

“No one told you to stop, Parker,” she chimes jokingly.

They stare at each other for a second before Peter resigns himself to his fate

He continues the routine, putting his game face on, but regretting including the part where he grinds against the umbrella

Especially since his eyes naturally traveled towards Michelle to see if she was making fun of him

Instead, she was making smug eye contact, looking content with herself and watching him dance.

When he finishes, there is a long silence before Ned and Michelle pushed into each other laughing. Ned asks how Peter learned to dance like that, and Michelle just praises him for going all out

How Michelle went back to pretending she wasn’t watching him like that, he didn’t know

She was acting like nothing happened.

Peter just bowed, keeping up his good spirits as they applauded him

When they finally stopped laughing, ten minutes later, Ned asks him where he got the outfit

Michelle stands up suddenly.

“I’m going to be late for dinner,” she pipes up. She walks up real close to Peter and takes a good look up and down before smiling. “The look suits you.” She pulls up one of his dress straps and tucks in a small folded up wad of Monopoly money, letting the strap snap him when she let it go.

“Bye losers.”

Peter stares after her, wondering what he’d just done and how he’d let himself walk into this situation.

Chapter 3: The Sorting Ceremony

As they lined up in front of the Great Hall, Sirius couldn't help but notice the awe and wonder on the faces of some of the students as they looked up at the enchanted ceiling above them. He guessed that most of them were Muggle-borns, experiencing their first glimpse of magic. He thought about what his mother would have said if she were standing next to him in that line.

"Black, Sirius."

For a brief moment, Sirius froze. He hadn't even realised they had started calling out names. Slowly making his way up to the podium, Sirius could feel Headmaster Albus Dumbledore's steady gaze upon him. He gave the elderly man a weak smile, which was returned with warmth and kindness.

Placing the tattered hat upon his head, Sirius heard a voice enter his mind. "Sirius Black." He didn't feel the need to respond and was now more confused than ever about what this sorting process entailed. Was it a game? A test?

"Hmm, quite different from the noble family you were born into. Could it be..."

"Not Slytherin," Sirius silently pleaded in his mind.

"Are you absolutely certain, boy?" The stern voice of the Sorting Hat echoed in Sirius' mind. "Your great-grandfather, Phineas Nigellus Black, was one of the only Slytherin headmasters the school has ever had. It would be quite a deparecogrture for a Black to not be sorted into that house."

Sirius hesitated, his eyes flickering to James for a moment before firmly stating, "Not Slytherin."

"On the other hand, I see plenty of courage and determination. Fierce loyalty as well, I see. Very well, very well," the Sorting Hat continued. "GRYFFINDOR!"

The crowd erupted from the red and gold table on his left, and Sirius exhaled a sigh of relief. He got up to run to take his seat when he heard a shout, “Wait for me!” and saw that it was James. Sirius gave a quick wink and continued towards his seat. As he sat at the Gryffindor table, seated opposite the Slytherins, he saw Narcissa Black, his cousin, go pale white, and he couldn’t help but smirk a little bit.

In a way, he did follow his mother’s instructions. He was staying with his lot.

Ok so :

He said he doesn't get nervous when he meets fellow actors, but he gets excited because they share the same passion/do the same thing for living. He does get starstruck when he meet athletes tho, because he's fascinated by their skill set.

He hung out with Dev Patel at the Bafta after party in 2017 and loved it, and Nikki and Dev's mom spend the night chatting too. And what was funny about that night was that Nikki was so happy for Tom, she got extra drunk and was hangover the next day and had to pass security but had metal pins in her hair and didn't took it out, so she had to pass the metal detector so many times at the airport lol.

He talked about getting Harry to work in the Song marketing team. In total, the videos he made have been watched 12 millions times apparently so he's super proud of him. And even The Rock contacted Tom's team bc he wan he liked the videos and wanted to hire Harry but they said no because Harry's always with Tom haha.

He misses dancing so much. Sometimes he wants to attend dance classes but he knows he's gonna get filmed by someone if he goes there (☹️).

He also talked about having a sixth sense when he's out, he knows when people are filming/seeing him. But now he manage to master the ability to ignore people when they scream his name in the street. But Harry is annoying because whenever this happens, Harry stops him and say "hey Tom someone just said your name".

They talked about Dom asking him to not do LSB (again), but he's really happy he did it and he did it with Z so they were able to support each other because they were both extra nervous.

One time he had to present Naomi Watts for her career award. He was in Palm springs in a hotel with Nikki and was dressing up. He wore a tight suit and he was so itchy, he was complaining and said he wanted to wear jeans instead. Nikki got mad and gave him her tights so he could wear them underneath lol. He also forgot Armani shoes that they lend him for the event at the hotel, and very recently Nikki brought it up during an argument which make Tom laughs, because Mom never forget anything

He sometimes calls restaurant and pretend to be his own assistant, talk with an American accent and manage to get it that way.

The period between finishing Billy Elliott and getting into his rugby school was really tough because he was marginalized, he wasn't the cool kid at all and basically lived the lonely Peter Parker life. He mentally felt few years older than everyone else, while physically looking 3 years younger. When he became more successful, he unfortunately lost some friends due to jealousy. He's happy he got Haz and Tuwaine though because they've been supportive since the beginning

He was so nervous for the first night as Billy Elliott. Because everyone he knew was in the audience (his parents invited everyone).

His proud of Paddy's acting career now. He was supposed to be in The Impossible with him apparently but he was too young so they didn't think it was a good idea.

They talked about Tom and Harry short film "Last Call" they filmed last year. Lindsey Duncan plays Tom's mom. Harry is an amazing director according to Tom.
