GROWING PAINS: A MINI LEGACY CHALLENGE by @ka1omi

i would first like to thank you amazing creators such as @thatssojordy @oshinsimblr @sashasspace @cocoelleansims @themintsimmer @alycemichelleee @ellesimsworld @simelune & many more for your amazing content and mods that make this game what it is.

@thatssojordy recently dropped a new mod called Growing Pains, which can be (and definitely should be) used in this challenge, and having immediately used it in game, it is honestly amazing and what inspired me to create this challenge. i've also been watching legacy LPs and just recently watched Inside Out 2 so this was born. it's nothing crazy, only 5 generations that can either be used in order or used as standalone challenges.

all packs are not required, however, they will enhance your gameplay as well as different mods that have been listed in the google doc. as this is my first ever legacy challenge i have created, please feel free to let me know on anything i can improve on or any changes that you would like to see or if you have any questions.

please please please tag me if you end up using this challenge, i would absolutely love to see all your beautiful sims and storylines!

im a a young poc artist, and i plan on posting abt my writing, im really here to practice and work on my skills, as well as ramble abt my interests down below!

once i get more comfortable, you may see some art!

i suffer from bpd(borderline personality disorder) and possible ocd(obsessive compulsive disorder), so this will be a safe space for any neurodivergent people! I only ask that we keep everything sfw and respect any/all boundaries!

sorry to bother and so so sorry if u guys already answered something like this before but do you guys have any specific grind routine? im busy because of irl and i often forget to open twst but having a routine used to help me before life got busy, would u guys happen to have any or any recommendations?

If you can use LP through out day, I recommend checking your guest room for messes and invite before doing your lessons. Lessons are the final thing I do before my closing any TWST lessons because I will set my phone down and it goes to sleep after the lessons are completed. I do the exam and room battles when I have time but using LP is the main priority. Most of the time I do them either in the morning or at night.

The checklist before I'm done with the day is

Skip lessons for any LP I might have

Otherwise you can take your time building cards. Just don't expect to quickly get high scores from using 10 LP per day.

I play both JP and EN, and thankfully have a way to split screen my phone to play both at once. If I didn't, I probably wouldn't play EN at all. Because of this, I have to balance the difference between when the EN game resets and the JP game resets, and therefore generally do the following:

I have an alarm that goes off every 2.5 hours for AP/LP. I do not set an alarm overnight, but otherwise, when the alarm goes off, I open TWST, start lessons, reset the alarm, and set my phone down.

I have alarms that goes off every 10 (JP)/12 (EN) hours for Guest Room Invites. When the alarm goes off, I open TWST, invite a character, reset the alarm, and set my phone down.

Guest Room Cleanup and Visits are done before doing Gauntlet battles. There generally is one cleanup event a day (although depending on trouble, there could be more) and visit medals can be grabbed anytime after reset.

Gauntlet and Exam battles are either done in the evening after work (whether it be before bed, or while surfing the web) or in the morning before work (only when I forget to do JP battles the night before.

During Master Chef/Culinary Crucible, I always do the 2.5 hour collection so I can collect ingredients, send the next group out, then do lessons.

Ginger Root — SHINBANGUMI (Ghostly International)

The latest Ginger Root record has multi-instrumentalist Cameron Lew diving deep into retro sounds, drawing inspiration from Paul McCartney, Yellow Magic Orchestra and other pre-internet vibes. It’s a well-constructed LP and one with the flow and pace of a concept record, but it’s also one that sticks to a formula.

Things kick off with “No Problems,” a slice of McCartney-esque pop with warm keyboards, touches of strings, and a thin guitar tone that twangs like a rubber band. Lew builds an emphasis on the McCartney II, early 1980s ambience: the analog synths, the way everything sounds like it’s been built by overdubbing one instrument at a time, or how it feels like it’s old without actually being old. This sort of not-quite-nostalgia is all over SHINBANGUMI, and “No Problems” does a great job of setting the scene for listeners.

Lew’s a musician who wears his influences on his sleeve, and throughout the first half of the record you can almost make a checklist of what he likes by the way each song sounds: “Better Than Monday” has a slinky, almost mechanical funk groove that recalls Yellow Magic Orchestra, while “All Night” has a driving, bass-led groove straight out of a vintage city pop record by Tatsuro Yamashita. And “Giddy Up” throws in a vaguely tense sort of energy that lands somewhere between solo McCartney and Todd Rundgren. When Lew’s at his best on songs like these, he makes music that’s engaging and fun.

But when he errs, it grinds the album to a halt. “Kaze” is a curveball that sounds like an odd, almost-listing sort of lounge music. Tonally it doesn’t really match what else is happening here: there’s little rolls of percussion and it builds into an uneventful climax. It feels like it’s from a completely different record and it disrupts the flow he’s been building up.

Throughout SHINBANGUMI, Lew hides his voice behind filters and it’s occasionally hard to make out his lyrics when he’s shoved to the back of the mix. He isn’t a strong singer or especially a wordsmith, but his singing almost feels incidental to the music here. This is a record that’s big on pop hooks and funky basslines. And perhaps a plot of some kind, too. Lew’s released a series of connected videos for this that suggest it’s a concept record following a TV executive in 1980s Japan making his own network. The plot feels loose and sort of incidental to the lyrics, but the way this album flows does have a feeling of a storyline, right down to a climax on “Show 10” and a coda on “Take Me Back.” Those two close the album out with more lush city pop grooves, touches of sax and strings, and carefully placed splashes of keyboards.

The thing about a record like this is that you almost know the game plan from the album’s lead single. Lew sets the template early: lots of old sounding keyboards, basslines that move all over the rhythm, and a vocal template that keeps his voice almost buried. Aside from a couple of curveballs and a few short interludes, he never really strays from that model. It’s an album that if it catches you right away, it’s probably one you’ll enjoy all the way through. But if you’re expecting it to build into something or for him to explore a wide palette of sounds you’ll be left wanting. As they say on TV: viewer discretion is advised.

DO IT !!!! i recommend it !!! gen 7 is now in stores and there are older gens on ebay !!!!! some sellers will like make things supr over priced so be wary . im pretty sure you can also buy them on insta but ive never done that . if you want to see all the pets available , all gens , then i reccomend this site (lpsmerch.com) !! you can create wish lists and checklists there too :D

i finally got a G7 lps!!! i used the barcode trick to get this cutie :) as someone who has a TON of g2 pets from my childhood and was a HUGE fan the sculpt is really amazing, looks and feels super authentic to the older pets!

the paint application and quality could use some work though, mines a little off in some places and is pretty rough in others. the plastic itself feels cheaper too, slightly squishier than g2 which makes me worried they won't last as long :(

i didn't know they came with little accessories that trophy is an adorable touch, love the cards! the coin is for the roblox game i think? i've only played it a little bit but im excited to check it out again since i assume its had updates.

i also love that they come with little checklists for all the pets, i've always loved when toys show me what else i can get!

overall i feel like these are gonna be like g3 monster high, where the first releases are pretty good but with all the fan attention quality will just keep improving!

a few days last week sucked so I treated myself to Catty and some LPS. I saw a video that listed the codes of the blind boxes they got, so I wrote them down and picked out the ones I want.

I opened them up, and... none of them were the ones I wanted! some of them are still ones I like, but still. they were all one off from the ones I actually wanted on the checklist, so I was close enough to the right ones that I went back and picked out ones that were one number behind those ones.

and it worked! I got the ones I wanted, except they didn't have the goat I wanted. went to a different store and picked out the goat's number, and... got an iguana! the code on this box matched the initial video I saw. since I knew what number the goat would be, I finally got that one. I also got a cat and kiwi bird just bc I figured "what the hell, I've gotten all those other ones"

so... yeah! I think I'm definitely done messing with blind box LPS bc that was way too much of a hassle lmao.
