Larp House Presents: Old Friends
Larp House Presents: Old Friends
Back in the ‘90s you hunted ghosts together. You used an ancient technique that reliably bridged two worlds, and you put a lot of souls to rest. Like any team you were a mess of individual flaws, contradictions and rivalry, but it worked.
It worked until Sara died.
And now here you are, twenty years later. The past has brought you back together. Together for that one last job.
What
A live-action…

Larp House Presents: I Say a Little Prayer
Tumblr media
Five gay men live together in a shared apartment in New York City. We follow this group of friends over a couple of years in the early 1980s when the AIDS epidemic hit gay communities hard. These men will be personally affected by the AIDS crisis over the course of play.
This larp is a condensed version of the internationally acclaimed Nordic larp Just a Little Lovin’, run in Minnesota last year. The themes of friendship, desire, and death are universal ones. We hope to offer participants new insight on an often overlooked part of US history through this event.
What
I Say a Little Prayer, a freeform Nordic larp scenario for five players.
Designed by Tor Kjetil Edland Organized by Jon Cole and l.p.lade
When
Saturday, 22 September 2018 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Where
The larp will be held at a private residence in Minneapolis or St. Paul (TBD)
Registration
If you are interested in playing, fill out our I Say a Little Prayer sign-up form before 11:59 pm on Wednesday, September 12th. You should know if you are in or out of the larp by Tuesday, September 18th.
We encourage you to sign-up promptly! If we see there are sufficient sign-ups, we may consider adding additional runs. If way way too many people sign up, attendance in the multiple runs will be decided by weighted lottery.
Play Style
Tumblr media
“We're all going to go crazy, living this epidemic every minute, while the rest of the world goes on out there, all around us, as if nothing is happening, going on with their own lives and not knowing what it's like, what we're going through. We're living through war, but where they're living it's peacetime, and we're all in the same country.” —Larry Kramer, American playwright and AIDS activist
The larp is composed of scenes called by the facilitator and players, which put the spotlight on one of the characters or a relationship between the characters. Halfway through the story one of the characters will die of AIDS. Towards the very end of the story a second character will also die. Every player will have interesting things to do throughout the whole larp.
All characters in this larp are gay men, although players of any gender or sexual orientation are welcome.
Costuming
No special costuming is required.
Accessibility info
Private residence, non-ADA accessible, some stairs to enter. Background music will be used during scenes. Bathroom available. No food will be served. The venue is a home for multiple cats.
Content Warnings
AIDS, grief, sexuality, romantic relationships beginning and ending, homophobia, drug use.
Significant physical contact will occur during play, negotiated between players to ensure consent. This is more physical contact than most other Larp House events. For example, some scenes will call on players to mime sex acts through dry humping, and one introductory workshop involves players giving each other full body massages.
