so many opinions of the live action! some good, some bad. But as a fan, it's definitely worth watching. the scenery, the main characters and the orchestra are beautiful. the writing sometimes took me off, it could definitely use some improvement but i hope the dialogues an storylines will be translated more smoothly on the second season. you can see the love they put in the project

Headcanon: uhm how the gaang treats yue or how they see yue shshhs
OKAY, so I decided to focus on the girls first because I went off (but are we really surprised? This is me weâre talking about).Â
I focused on how they met Yue, what made them click, and how they treat/view. Consider this headcanon for Limerence as it is developing, not as an end-all-be-all.
If you want one of the boys (Aang, Sokka, Zuko) let me know cause Iâll post it ASAP rather than dwindling around~
Katara
âYue?â Katara would perk, before smiling, âSheâs more than just a friend; sheâs family, a sister.â
Katara, Aang and Sokka are the first ones to met Yue after she saves Aang. Immediate reaction - grateful.
Secondary reaction - worry. Kataraâs blue eyes settled over Yue, and saw how frail she looked. Her clothes dirty and torn, hair a birds nest; she was skin and bones. Kataraâs âmust-take-careâ instincts blaring.
The same day they met, they bonded;
Yue was sitting in the river under the starry night as Katara helped wash her hair. She couldnât help but notice the tiny scratches and bruises that littered Yueâs skin, superficial. But she could imagine how they stung.
âWhy donât you heal yourself, Yue? Youâre a Waterbender.â Katara asked with her brows pinched, confused to see all of Yueâs injuries. But Yue let out an awkward giggle, shyly sinking further into the water, âI-Iâm a terrible healer.â
âI can teach you if you want.â Katara perked, happy to show off her skills to teach another.
But she quickly noted Yueâs expression in the reflection of the water. Her eyes heavy, lip trembling. It was an expression filled with deep pain and sadness, and without another word, Katara found herself embracing Yue from behind.
From that point on, Katara took on the big sister role despite being the younger one by a few months.
Katara sometimes stares at Yue and has to smile, happy to be by her side and watch Yue grow. She wasnât the girl crying in the river anymore; she was the impending Queen of a Nation.
She always stands up for Yue and encourages her to put her foot down whenever someone disrespects her. Even Kataraâs frustrated at how nice Yue is.
Very protective, and will lowkey judge the people Yue is around. She knows Yue is a bit naive and doesnât want someone to take advantage #SorrynotsorryZuko.Â
A bit disappointed that Yue never Waterbended with her, despite asking her multiple times to train. She finally found another Waterbender, someone who was by her side full-time, and it proved fruitless.
The one time they did battle, Katara was about to go easy. She quickly realized never to doubt Yueâs fighting skillsâŚbut her healing could use some work.
Guilty for thinking Yue was a Firebender at first.
Was lowkey jealous at Yueâs and Aangâs relationship and how quickly they hit it off before realizing it is just Yueâs personality
Often bond in the hot springs with a nice face and hair mask, fantasizing about their future and wedding plans.
Kataraâs go-to person to vent and shop with.
Will cook meals for Yue because Yue cannot cook to survive. Kataraâs still baffled at how Yue managed to burn boiling water. Like seriously, how?
Often heals Yueâs bruises and scratches because sheâs way too clumsy. Also stopped asking questions as to how she even gets hurt. A papercut from a teddy bear?
âYueâs biggest strength is also her weakness, her heart.â Katara would softly speak, twirling her braid in her hands, âBut thatâs why weâre here. To make sure sheâs okay and that she doesnât live off sweets because that girl has a sugar addiction.â
Toph
âSheâs alright, I guessâŚÂ kinda whiny, always needing attention, we call her Princess for a reason- butâŚâ Toph would start before stepping forward. She would cross her arms before whispering, âSheâs an amazing baker and gives the best hugs. BUT YOU DIDNâT HEAR THAT FROM ME.â
Toph and Suki met Yue a few days after the others, and the first thing she noticed was how damn light Yue was on her feet, another Airbender?
Yue was quick to greet Toph, voice chirpy and filled with life, and for a moment, Toph thought Yue was going to be an absolute chatterbox. Talking her ears off until they bled. Imagine her surprise how quiet Yue got after their greeting, standing off to the side as the others spoke.
Toph would study her movements, how she twirled her fingers, pulse racingâŚ
Their moment of connection would come days after, Toph feeling the ground underneath her vibrate, just a touch. It was enough to wake her up from her slumber, feet embedded on the ground and searching for those light footsteps. Toph would begrudgingly follow, thinking it was Aang taking a late-night stroll before they suddenly stopped.
âThe stars⌠theyâre beautiful tonight. Want to experience them with me?â Yue would hum, taking Toph off guard.
âIâm blind-â
âYou of all people should know there is more than one way to experience the world.â
Toph would snort, kicking the dirt under her feet, âOh yeah? Explain colour to me.â
Toph could feel Yue walked towards her, bending over, a distinct pulling sound-making light, before standing upright. Yueâs hands gently reached for Tophâs, letting something dewy in nature fall into her palms.
âGreen⌠itâs the grass and leaves, soft and tickles your toes. Filled with life. Itâs not my favourite colour; I enjoy red much more. Red is the colour of the blaring sun against your skin. Like a festering burn, pulsing with strong vibrations.â
Yueâs wasnât that bad after all.
Abnormally tolerate to Yueâs need for physical affection. Timed âhugsâ are a norm (donât want to let Yue know how much Toph loves them, or else sheâll never hear the end of it).
Careful about her tone with Yue. Rarely raising it like how she would with Sokka or Katara because Toph could feel how Yueâs heart would race.
One of the few people Toph would willingly let touch her feet and pamper.
Toph listens to Yueâs rants about fashion or makeup because there was something about hearing her heart skip - she dares say it, it was cute.
Toph went from feeling indifferent to Yue to finding an odd sense of comfort in her presence. An Aang 2.0, but a lot more sensitive and a way better baker.
Views Yue as a best friend and typically calls her Princess because she is one.
Taught her that being feminine in nature doesnât equal weak. You can be fabulous and kick ass.
Will unconsciously take a big sniff around Yue. She smells good, like baked goods.
âShe may be a crybabyâŚbut she has a good heart.â
Suki
âSheâs too cute!â Suki would laugh, smiling fondly at all the memories that seemingly flashed through her mind. âYue is like a kitten. Sheâs cute and shy, but she has that curious spirit inside. A mischievousness that youâll never expect to see.â
Suki met Yue at the same time as Toph, but because Sokka introduced Yue to her with much glee, Suki immediately opened up.
Funny enough, unlike the rest who shared a bonding moment via a direct personal experience, Suki realized she loved Yue when seeing how she spent time with Sokka.
Suki was lounging on the sandy beaches in the Earth Nation, enjoying the sun kissing her skin with the waves crashing in the distance. Sokka proclaimed that he was a sandcastle master, and Suki watched with lowered sunglasses how Sokka and Yue spent precisely two hours building a monstrously of a sandcastle.
Seeing Yue and Sokka bickering and having fun like siblings struck a chord with Suki. She was going to love anyone who can make her boyfriend that happy.
Suki dusted herself off from the sand, coming behind Yue and placing her hands on her shoulders, âWant to come shopping tomorrow with me downtown?â
âMe?â Yue would gasp, her eyes wide.
Suki would smile, eagerly shaking her head, and she saw that happiness spread over Yueâs face, âI would love to!â
Girls night is a tradition between them, getting tipsy- drunk on wine and spoiling Yue with dresses.
Guilty of being the âdevil on her shoulder.â Suki canât help it; she loves Yueâs eagerness to try new things and learn, but her shyness always got the better of her, and thatâs where Suki comes in.
Half of their conversations go from sweet to sexual in under ten seconds.
Besides Aang and Sokka, Sukiâs the closest to Yue, theyâre practically sisters.
Like Katara loves hyping Yue and encouraging her to stand up for herself and seek happiness. Suki knows Yue always puts herself second; thatâs why she pampers Yue whenever she can.
Love teasing Yue with Toph. Itâs just too easy.
âSheâs a girlâs best friend, the best shoulder to cry on, and the easiest to tease.âÂ

i have so many ideas in my head for fics LMAO and as u know i am obsessed w ur writing hehehe umm lets think can you do a sokka imagine where reader is Piandaoâs apprentice as well so she spars with Sokka in his training and always wins, until he beats her one day from like being flirty and distracting her or something?? idk u can ignore this and just do any imagines u like LOL
Ahhhhh I love this idea so much!! Idk why but I have a headcanon that Piandao is lowkey like Batman and just trains abandoned kids and now he has like a tiny army of little white lotus warriors heâs informally adopted over the years.
This kid is weird.
That was the immediate impression (Y/N) got of Sokka when Master Piandao had introduced him as a new apprentice.
What the hell kind of name is Sokka, anyways?
That was her second thought. It was the kind of name that rolled off her tongue nicely when she was snapping at him to focus during their drills. The shape of it in her mouth made it easy to add a snarl to the front and a growl at the end when he was screwing around in front of Piandao, making them both look bad.
By the end of his first day training with (Y/N) under Piandaoâs reserved tutliage, Sokka had been introduced to several intermediate forms. His heavy wooden practice sword had turned his arms to jelly long ago and there were various bruises and scrapes from (Y/N) sneaking past his defenses, but Sokka didnât mind the aches.
Sheâs amazing.
That was Sokkaâs first impression of (Y/N) as he watched her demonstrate the basic forms he was supposed to learn. He wasnât focusing on the forms, but rather the warrior waltzing her way through them.
(Y/N) seemed to merge with her abilities. She moved with the ease of someone who spent her time befriending her skills, pouring her soul into singing metal and brutal dance numbers. Her blade was her master as much as Piandao was. She wielded her sentences as tactfully as her steel, every word intentional and aimed to cut to the heart of a matter.
Sokka would wager his last copper piece that her and Suki would get along quite well if they ever met.
Heâs good.
That was (Y/N)âs third thought as she watched Sokka breeze through his basic drills.
A tiny part of her sung with pride when Master informed her that she was excelling in her duty of shaping Sokka into a proper swordsman. Sokka was her first real trainee during her time with Piandao. Sheâd studied under him from the age of six, when sheâd turned up on his doorstep after being left behind in the middle of the night by her nomadic family.
Sheâd seen many hopeful young men turn up on that same doorstep, opening her sanctuary to their arrogant swaggers and second rate weaponry. They had all given her the same look when she guided them through Piandaoâs home; a look that held the intrigue of having a girl around to preen for, not knowing that she was the judge, jury, and executioner of their fate.
Piandao mightâve been the one to teach the boys to fight, but (Y/N) was the one to make them honor the battle. They all came boasting to the Master about their accomplishments in their backwater town, lauding their own praises and embellishing their military bloodlines. Most left cursing the girl with forged steel for a personality and the word no sharpened like a blade.
Not Sokka, though.
(Y/N) supposed that maybe thatâs what first warmed her up to him, the fact that heâd seen the sword on her belt first and her gender second. His quick wit and ability to bounce back after a defeat didnât hurt, either.
Sokkaâs knuckles were still red and actively bruising from their previous match when Piandao informed the pair that the next would be their last for the day. The compound was bathed in the golden promise of a sunset to come and (Y/N) found herself getting distracted by the way the light pressed gentle kisses to Sokkaâs cheeks. The breeze played with his unraveling topknot like a teasing lover, taunting (Y/N) with the idea of what heâd look like with his hair down.
Before her thoughts could settle on the fight in front of her and not the boy, Sokka was making the first move. He went for the obvious strike, even though he shouldâve learned by that point that (Y/N) would parry the blow.
Swinging her sword up to block him with ease, (Y/N) found herself shocked by their close proximity, puzzled that Sokka had thrown his first move to get close to her. A coy smirk was crawling along Sokkaâs face as he gifted the young warrior with a flirtatious wink, causing her to narrow her own eyes back at him. It seemed that Sokka had seen her distraction and chose to wield his looks as his weapon of choice for this round.
âYou canât fluster me into losing, Sokka,â (Y/N) huffed, a mild bout of surprise bubbling as she realized that she was actually having to try to keep Sokka from getting the upper hand in their fight.
âThat doesnât seem fair, youâve been flustering me all day.â He replied with a disarming grin, putting her on the defense with a quick, if somewhat unpracticed, set of attacks.
âCut it out.â She growled, hoping the dark flush on her cheeks could be written off as exertion and not a real blush. Those oceanic eyes stared a hole into (Y/N), the flickering of his pupils to the side being the only consistent indication of his next move.
He was still too close for (Y/N) to ready a true offense, so she blocked and parried his attacks, his ever increasing proximity forcing her a step back with each move. She was trying to distance herself for an attack when the stone wall of the practice arena hit her back, shocking the wind out of her and allowing Sokka to land what would have been a fatal strike in a real fight. Their eyes were still locked as their chests heaved from the effort of the fight, bewildered (Y/E/C) eyes meeting a cunning blue gaze.
âResourceful use of terrain, Sokka. (Y/N), donât allow yourself to be crowded by a larger opponent. Use your agility, not your size.â Piandao advised, snapping the pair out of their staring contest. Sokka was still looming over (Y/N), but she wasnât looking at him, instead forcing herself away from the wall to disappear into the bamboo thicket. She was being melodramatic, she knew, but she was ashamed that sheâd let a stupidly charming boy make her look like a fool in front of her Master. The blow to her pride was blistering, raising all of her long buried insecurities to the surface.
âHey, whatâs wrong?â Sokkaâs voice called from the bamboo to (Y/N)âs right. To hear that much concern in the voice of a boy who barely knew her showed his true character, but (Y/N) wished he would reveal an arrogant side. Something, anything, to throw her heart off the scent of a crush.
âWhy would you do that?â She snarled, trying to cover the turmoil in her mind with misplaced anger.
âDo what?â His disembodied voice was confused, the rustling of bamboo revealing his position to (Y/N).
âEmbarrass me like that in front of everyone! Do you know how hard it is to be taken seriously as a girl doing this?â (Y/N) ranted, her glare already fixed to the spot where Sokka popped out of the foliage into her line of view.
âI-Iâm sorry. I didnât mean it like that, I just... I thought we had something going on there for a minute, yâknow? Youâre the best fighter Iâve ever met, being a girl doesnât change that.â He told her honestly. He took a tentative step closer, approaching her like he would a scared cat.
âThat trick wonât work a second time.â (Y/N) snapped, her eyes spitting fire at him. Once again, she found herself on the defensive with this boy, every careful step he took towards her sending her a step back until her back pressed against a clutter of bamboo.
âTrick? (Y/N), there is no trick. Itâs called liking someone, and hoping they like you back.â Sokka exclaimed, frustration trickling into his tone. He wanted to be patient and give her room to puzzle out his intentions, but she was too busy protecting her emotions to see his truth.
A long pause, before, âheâll replace me if he thinks Iâm easily distracted.â It was said so quietly, in such a hopeless voice, that Sokka wouldnât recognize it as (Y/N) speaking if he wasnât watching her lips form the words.
âHeâs a fool, then. He wonât find another (Y/N).â Sokka told her boldly, feeling wild and fierce in their bamboo haven with her baring her deepest emotions to him.
âPlease stop saying nice things. It makes it really hard to be mad.â (Y/N) whispered in that same careful voice, her tone cooling as she folded in on herself. She couldnât believe sheâd shown her soul to a boy sheâd known for two days.
âThen donât be mad, be honest. Do you find me as distracting as I find you?â Sokka matched her tone, speaking quietly as he tried to coax her back out of her shell.
âNo. Yes? I donât know. Iâve never even liked any of the apprentices before you.â She huffed, tilting her head back to groan at the sky in confusion.
âStop over thinking it. Do I distract you? Yes or no?â Sokka pressed, taking (Y/N)âs battle calloused hands in his own and tugging her attention back to those oceanic eyes.
âYes.â Her tone was confident, her rough thumbs tracing delicate shapes over Sokkaâs bruised knuckles as she accepted his rough palms in her own.
âIâm glad Iâm not the only one, then, or this wouldâve been awkward.â He admitted, a warm blush crawling up his neck.
âIt already was,â (Y/N) giggled quietly, releasing the tension between them. They stood grinning at each other like fools, both trying to stretch this soft, peaceful moment into a lifetime. Sokka leaned down closer to (Y/N) slowly, his eyes flickering between her own and her lips as he gave her the chance to stop him.
Instead of bolting like he half expected her to, she leaned up and pressed a firm kiss to his lips, pulling him closer. The action threw him off balance and sent the pair tumbling through the bamboo, Sokka landing on top of (Y/N) with a squawk of indignation.
The serene atmosphere broken, they stared into each otherâs eyes for a shocked moment before bursting into laughter and settling for holding each other close like a cherished possession.

Okay, so basically I was in a mood for adult gaang reunion, so I wrote this. Here you are, hope youâll enjoy â¨
âJust like old timesâ
âSuki, come on, weâre gonna be late!â called out Sokka, entering their hut. Again. âEverythingâs ready but you two.â
His wife laughed.
âRelax, Sokka, they wonât start without us. And you know that Yue needs to have her hair done.â She raised her eyebrows, while she was running fingers through her daughterâs hair.
âYeah, dad, you know thatâ she took up, making a face to him. Sokka shook his head both with disbelief and a smile. He sat down, watching his beautiful ladies.
âIâm not worried theyâd start without us, thoughâ he explained. âThereâs no fun without Sokka, duh.â
Suki rolled her eyes, but didnât say anything.
âIâm just concerned Kataraâs going to get there earlier than I am.â
His wife even turned her head from Yueâs hair to him, only to see his priceless face expression.
âYou didnât bet with Katara again, did you?â she asked, lowkey already knowing the answer.
âWell, I couldnât let her win just like that.â Sokka shrugged his shoulders. Suki sighed.
âYouâre gonna lose, sweetieâ she proclaimed.
âNot if we sticked to my schedule, I wouldnât.â
âYou didnât make the time for mom to braid my hair, dadâ slipped Yue. âYou knew what you were getting yourself into.â
âWhy excuse me, I assumed mom can braid your hair on shipâ explained Sokka, extremely offended. His daughter shook her head as much as Sukiâs hands in her hair allowed her to.
âAbsolutely not possible.â
Sokka looked at his wife, seeking help. Suki shrugged with a smile.
âThereâs nothing I can do. You knew what you were getting yourself into.â
Chief sighed and shook his head, defeated. This whole trip already started to go totally not as planned.
***
Sokka got off the ship and wasnât even surprised that the first person who greeted him wasnât neither Zuko, nor Aang, nor Toph and not even Mai.
âHello, looser.â Grinned Katara. Sokka rolled his eyes.
âYeah, yeah, shut upâ he mumbled, hugging her in greeting. âItâs all Sukiâs fault, by the way.â
Katara laughed.
âIt kind of isâ admitted Suki, also going for a hug. âItâs so great to see you, Katara, how are you doing?â
âIâm great, Iâm really great. Tenzin is growing up so fast, you wouldnât believe it.â She laughed. âI canât believe itâs been almost a year.â
âI know, right? Youâve been out of the South for so long, we really missed you back there.â
âI didnâtâ slipped Sokka teasingly, unpacking things from the ship. His sister hit him in the arm.
âGo back to carrying stuff, Sokkaâ she spat.
âWait, honey, Iâll give you a handâ suggested Suki.
âNo need, Iâm doing great!â cried out her husband, taking three more boxes. âI mean, I definitely can see right now, so... tell me if I step on somebody, pleaseâ he puffed, trying to see the road.
Suki shook her head.
âExcuse meâ she whispered to Katara and went to help out her husband. She took from him two boxes so that he could actually see something. He smiled to her gratefully. Katara grinned. And then she saw a little girl getting off the ship, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
âAre we there yet?â she asked, yawning and when nobody answered her, she looked around. Katara crossed her arms, waiting to be noticed. âAunt Katara!â cried out Yue immediately after she spotted her. She ran towards her and before Katara knew it, she wrapped her little arms around her.
âAunt Katara, I missed you so much!â
Katara laughed, hugging her niece back.
âI missed you, too, Yue. Look at you, all grown up! Youâre a beautiful young lady.â
âNot as beautiful as you are, though.â Grinned Yue and her aunt shook her head. âAre Bumi and Kya here? And uncle Aang?â
âThey are, youâll meet them at the palace. And Tenzinâs with them as well.â
âOh...â Yue made a face. âIs he still so squishy-looking?â
âIâm afraid he isâ laughed Katara. âAnd you certainly are Sokkaâs daughterâ she added silently, shaking her head. Sokka walked up to them and took Yueâs hand.
âWeâre ready, youâre coming?â asked his sister. She nodded and all four of them set off to the Fire Nation Royal Palace, where the rest was waiting for them. They saw Toph first, even though she didnât exactly see them.
âZukoâ she started, before anyone was able to say something âneeds to be put in his place. Who does he think he is, huh?â
âUhh, try the Fire Lordâ smiled Suki.
âYeah, yeah, I donât give a f...â
âTophâ interrupted her Suki, warningly. Toph seemed confused for a moment, but she finally understood when someone started to aggressively shake her hand.
âRight. Hi, kid.â
âHey, aunt Tophâ said Yue, very proud of herself for not giving Beifong a hug. âItâs nice to see you.â
âYeah, Iâd say the same about you but since I donât actually see you...â
Yue grinned.
âI know. Hey, mom, dad, can I go inside and look for Bumi and Kya?â
Sokka nodded.
âSure. But donât forget to greet every... aaaand sheâs gone already.â
âI donât know why you sound so surprised, Chief Boomerang, youâd do exactly the same.â
âI know, right? Itâs terrifying.â Smiled Sokka. âAnyways, itâs great to finally meet up. Man, Iâve been waiting for this whole reunion thing. We should do this annually.â
âWe doâ reminded Suki. âYou came up with it.â
âOh, right, Iâm a genius.â
âYou know, even with the inability to see, I can give you this lookâ said Toph, making a face to him, as if sheâd been saying âreally?â.
âAnd even with the ability to see, I can pretend I donât get itâ announced Sokka. âCome on, Toph, Iâm sure Zuko has already repaired whatever you were mad with him aboutâ he said, putting his arm around her shoulders and dragging her up the stairs.
âI am madâ spat Toph but let Sokka lead her inside the palace. âPresent tense. And you didnât even give me a chance to say hi to Suki.â
âI was pretty sure you did that.â
âWhat a detectiveâ scoffed Toph.
âOne more word and Iâll push you down these stairs and you know itâ threatened Sokka. His friend just shook her head in response. Upstairs waited for them Aang.
âOh, great, I was supposed to go after Toph, but I see this problem has been already resolved.â Laughed the Avatar.
âWho are you calling the problem, Twinkletoes?â tried to spit Toph, but she got quickly undermined, as no one reacted.
âSokka, finallyâ sighed Aang, hugging his friend.
âLong time no see, huh, the fearsome Avatar?â Grinned Sokka. âI heard youâre doing pretty well by organising the world.â
âI am, thank you very much.â Laughed Aang. âRepublic City is glowing.â
âI believe you. The South Pole is glowing, too.â
âI know. Just a little bit more and weâll be there, promise.â Smiled Aang. âSuki, you look beautiful!â he called out, when he saw her. He held out his hands to hug her.
âThank you, Aang, so do you.â Laughed Suki. âWe missed you.â
âHe promised theyâll be back soonâ slipped Sokka, giving Aang a judgy look.
âCan we please move along?â Toph kicked her heels. âI gotta kick Zukoâs butt.â
âToph, you cannot do this.â Sighed Aang, walking with her further to the palace. âWeâve been over this.â
Sokka and Suki smiled to each other. He put an arm around her waist and gently kissed her temple. Katara placed her hand at her brotherâs shoulder and smiled.
âCome onâ she encouraged. âZuko and Mai are dying to meet up with you two. Besides, dinnerâs almost ready.â
Sokka gave her a knowing look.
âWell, you shouldâve started with that, sister!â
***
They met with the rest in the dining room. Everyone was there â Yue played with Bumi and Kya (and Kyaâs waterbending), Mai was trying to calm down Izumi, who was somehow scared by Ty Lee and her tricks, while Aang tried to prevent bloodshed between Zuko and Toph. Sokka sighed.
âJust like old times, huh?â
âJust like old timesâ admitted Suki. She slipped out of Sokkaâs arm and walked up to Ty Lee. The Kyoshi Warrior lit up immediately as she saw her.
âHey, boss.â She smiled, bowing to her funnily. Suki shook her head.
âHello, my dear warriorâ she replied, bowing back. âCome on, bring it in.â She laughed as Ty Lee hugged her excitedly.
âItâs so good to see you, Suki. I wish you would visit us more often.â
âMe too.â
âWeâre going toâ assured Sokka, walking up to them. âThis period of time was just super hard for both of us.â
âIt was.â Nodded Suki.
âHi, Ty Lee.â Sokka held out his hand to her and smiled.
âSokkaâ greeted him Ty Lee, squeezing his hand. âEverything alright at the South Pole?â
âTheyâre certainly doing better than we areâ replied Mai, before anyone else could answer the question. âIâd give you my hand but theyâre both kind of busy.â She looked at her daughter suggestively. âItâs great you made it, thoughâ
âWe get it.â Smiled Suki. âYouâre not getting much sleep, are you?â
Mai snorted.
âMuch is overstatement.â She looked over her shoulder. âOh, great, my husbandâs coming. Well, Izumi, dad will put you to sleep.â
âSokka, Suki.â Smiled Zuko and hugged both of them. âYueâs greeted me like fifteen minutes ago, what took you so long?â
âOh, see, she greeted himâ said Suki to Sokka, smiling suggestively. Sokka made a proud face.
âSheâs got great manners, she even addressed me Fire Lord Uncle Zuko.â Laughed Zuko.
âSpeaking ofâ slipped Mai, handing his husband the baby. âItâs your turn to put Izumi to sleep.â
Zuko raised his eyebrows.
âNo, Iâm pretty sure itâs your turn now.â
âNopeâ denied Mai, shaking her head.
The two of them looked each other in the eye for a moment, until Zuko finally gave up. âDamn it, why is uncle still in Ba Sing Se when I need him?â he mumbled. Mai smiled triumphantly. âOkay, sweetie, say goodnight to your uncle Sokka and aunt Suki and aunt Ty Lee, youâre going to sleep. I mean, I hope you are.â He gave his friends âI am so doneâ look and was about to leave, when he reminded himself of something else.
âOh, and of course make yourself comfortable, guys. Dinner will be ready in ten minutes.â
Suki smiled.
âDonât worry, we wonât start without you.â
âWe wonât?â groaned Sokka.
âNo, we wonât, Sokka.â
Zuko rolled his eyes with a smile.
âThanks, Sukiâ he said and left with little Izumi pulling his hair, which he was totally indifferent to.
âWait, Zuko, you forgot...â started Mai, going after her husband. Ty Lee smiled to them and went back to the table. Suki hugged Sokka.
âJust like old times.â She sighed, repeating his words. Sokka smiled and hugged her tighter.

ok so iâve had this au live in my head rent free for the past few days
ok so letâs say that the northern water tribe is attacked by the fire nation earlier and defeated, effectively forcing them to surrender, and become neutral
the royal family are âinvitedâ (see: threatened) by the fire lord to stay in the fire nation
this means that princess yue was never destined to save the moon. she grows up in an upper class fire nation house in caldera, with dark hair and both parents. she never had the title of âprincessâ.Â
yue is sent to the same school as azula, mai and ty lee. sheâs good friends with them, and sheâs always competing for top spot in the class with azula
yue is a waterbender, but never properly trained, and has been told by her parents to not tell anyone. instead she uses her fatherâs sword from the northern water tribe, and coiled golden whips.Â
her father and mother tell her stories of the once great northern tribe, and how they long to return one day. from then on, yue vows to find a way for them to return, but she has to bide her time, waiting for the right moment.
this yue is not the girl we know from canon. sheâs cunning and calculating, and has an arrogant mask to hide her true feelings. she has to, especially around people like azula.
a few years after finishing school, yue is surprised to find princess azula turning up at her doorstep, with a proposition.Â
hoo boy this got really long so rest is under the cut
when azula asks her to come and hunt the avatar and her traitor brother, yue immediately agrees. she knows that a) azula isnât really offering, sheâll make her come either way, her family could be threatened if she refuses and b) this is a chance for her to see the world and sheâs been bored to death just training all these years
also, after training in school and for years at home, yue is good. like, azula level good at sword fighting, using her whips and hand to hand combat.
so, in omashu, yue joins the trio in getting maiâs brother back and fighting the avatar and his friends. yue sees katara waterbend and is transfixed, sheâs always wanted to be trained in waterbending properly.
katara and sokka are dumbfounded when they see a girl with a water tribe sword and characteristics fighting for the fire nation.
in the chase, yue joins the girls in following the gaang. when mai and ty lee go after katara and sokka, azula has yue come with her to go after aang, because she knows that yue is the next best in their group at fighting.
when zuko shows up, azula tells yue to deal with him while she fights the avatar. yue keeps zuko occupied for a while, winding him up with teasing jabs and cutting remarks, making him angrier and more reckless.Â
eventually, zuko manages to trip up yue, and she gets trapped underneath some debris. then zuko goes after aang and azula.
when sokka and katara show up, yue tricks them into letting her go, then she goes to help azula. when the two girls get cornered, azula shoots at iroh, and they escape.
ba sing se goes virtually the same, but when aang has been struck by lightning, yue is the one who releases sokka, toph and the earth king from their cells.
then sheâs going back to the fire nation, âinvitedâ to stay at the palace under azulaâs watchful eye.
over the next few weeks, yue overhears a lot that may change her views. sheâs stealthy, and good at eavesdropping, so she hears when zuko and azula discuss the avatar being alive.
on the day of black sun, itâs not only zukoâs day of truth but also yueâs. after confronting his father in the bunker, zuko gets surrounded by dai li agents and azula being imminently arriving to deal with him.
itâs then that yue jumps in, sheâs been shadowing zuko for weeks on azulaâs orders. she takes on the dai li agents, using her whips and swords and buying zuko time to escape. but then azula arrives, and manages to disarm her.
without any weapons, yue, in a desperate attempt, waterbends, mimicking moves sheâs seen katara do. azula is the better bender, and takes her down easily after the initial shock.
then yue is thrown into the boiling rock, deprived of water like the waterbenders in the prison flashback in âthe puppetmasterâ.
at some point, she comes across suki, and they fight and get thrown into isolation. then after that, they avoid each other.
eventually though, they begin to tolerate each otherâs company.Â
after yue gets suki out of a tough spot with guards, they begin to become friends, confiding in each other and watching each otherâs backs
when sokka and zuko turn up, yue spots zuko as a prisoner in the yard and beats him up, convinced that this is some trick by azula
then sokka accidentally walks into yueâs cell before sukiâs, and is like seriously scared because he knows how dangerous she is.
yue just tiredly tells him where sukiâs cell is, and sokka is left confused, until suki then explains how she and yue have been watching each otherâs backs.
then, suki finds yue in the yard and asks if she wants to break out with them. yueâs surprised that sheâs offering, but accepts.
they plan a failed escape plan, and then another with sokkaâs dad.
when mai and ty lee betray azula, its more for yue than zuko. yue wants to go back for them, and has to be held back by suki so that she doesnât get herself killed going back for them.
when they arrive at the western air temple, no one really trusts yue apart from suki, but toph, sokka and zuko are more trusting than aang and katara.
yue spends her first few days in one of the rooms, stressing out about her family and her friends. then, slowly, suki begins to visit her.
suki convinces katara to give yue some water tribe clothes so she can get rid of the prison uniform, and then introduces yue to each member of the gaang slowly.
first she and sokka are introduced. sokka and yue bond over geeking out about swords and fighting, and get along pretty well.
zuko and yue also reconcile pretty quickly, considering that she saved him in the solar eclipse, and they already know each other
toph and yue arenât the best of friends, but there isnât any hard feelings between them, and they have fun together
also yue did a whole zuko style awkward apology to all of them after she emerges from her room
itâs in aangâs nature to forgive, and he warms up to her pretty quickly, asking for combat tips.
katara doesnât forgive as easily, but around the campfire one night, yue tells them about how her home was destroyed and how confused she was for years.
at night, yue had been practising waterbending now that she had the chance. during a sparring match with sokka, he disarms yue, and she doesnât think about it, but bends water into his face.
everyoneâs like :O you can waterbend??? and yueâs like um yeah??
after that, yue asks aang and katara if they can teach her waterbending. katara refuses, still not sure whether she trusts yue, but aang accepts.
after some âlessonsâ with aang, its clear that aang isnât a very good teacher, and yue gets frustrated easily when she doesnât get it right away.
after a particularly catastrophic session, yue leaves in a huff.
katara finds yue by the fountain at night, at begins to help her with her form and yue begins to imrpove.
and basically i havenât finished this yet because i donât know whether i want it to be yue/katara, with the bonding over waterbending and lowkey enemies to lovers, or suki/yue, with the whole bonding in prison and suki being the first to trust her. so uhh let me know if it makes more sense with yue/katara or yue/suki
oh yeah and im gonna have background zukka and mailee too because why notÂ
also im gonna have an epilogue where yue returns to the northern tribe with her parents and they rebuild it and she learns about her heritage
