Hej hej. First of all: I absolutely love your die drei ??? posts! It doesn’t matter if it’s gifs stills or rants. It’s always amazing! And then I have got a question: do you know why there is no video album from „der dunkle taipan?“ I mean I love that we have got an audio album (several to be exact) but I would love a video version too. Both like for master of chess would have been perfect! I love that it’s been taken from different evenings and I hold them very dear. :)

I don’t know any specifics, but my plain guess would be that they didn’t make a pro-shot during leg 1 of the tour (they do have a couple of stationary cameras on stage and I think they do record most shows just in case -- that’s how you get the outtakes after all -- but ofc a pro-shot requires more work and prep) and were saving it for leg 2, which then got put on hold after their stints in the Elphi and Wien in February 2020. Knowing them they probably were gunning for one of the Hamburg shows in March because HH has always been Heimspiel for them, OR, seeing how this is most likely their last live tour ever, they also might’ve gone for recording the Waldbühne version idek. Something special to end it all.

Both Wecker and Phonophobia didn’t get a DVD release until they performed at Waldbühne though & I’m actually curious if greedy Sony even considered releasing it now (with all the shows just havoing gotten postponed yet again to 2022), would they h a v e a properly edited pro-shot... So, I say we’ll get a pro-shot, but it’ll take a little longer than expected.

That said, no video release of the Taipan show will even come close to what they managed to capture with the Master of Chess versions; I, too, love them with all my heart and they entertain me for vastly different reasons. Taipan (just as Phonophobia) is way too thoroughly structured and ‘choreographed’ of a show and their we aren’t allowed to have fun and go off-script for a while policy doesn’t help either.
