Update 2024/03: Lunchbreaks first draft finished!
☘️ Greetings, my humble homeslices! ☘️ I just reached quite a milestone in my current game project, having now finished the first draft of the script. That means I can move on to editing it next! I'm honestly quite excited for this step, because I want to feel out how the story works when I read it from start to finish, and I want to try and polish it into the best possible version I can muster.
So far I've not told you much about this project, but I feel that I can finally share some more info on it!
So what's this game you're working on?
The work title is "Lunchbreaks", and it's a sequel to Lovewood! That means it features all of the original cast, these guys... 👇
... plus a couple of new main characters that have not gotten much spotlight before! I'm really looking forward to seeing how people will react to the newcomers.
So it's a dating sim just like Lovewood?
Not really, no! Only a couple of the characters are romanceable at all, and in general the game will focus on platonic bonds instead of romance. This is arguably the most experimental part of this project, so I hope I can make it work! It's all about adventures, fantasy shenanigans and friendship!
Do we play as the healer again?
Yes!! The healer MC is making a comeback, babey 💪
So if it's a sequel, what timeline are we in exactly?
The game assumes that the MC went the platonic route in Lovewood, not dating anyone and instead hanging out with all their friends in a group. Lunchbreaks takes place 1 year after the events of Lovewood, and also after the events of Invisible Seams (although that won't carry as much relevance, since I'm aware less people have played Invisible Seams)!
Do I need to have played Lovewood to understand Lunchbreaks?
Nah, I'm trying to make it easily accessible for anyone who's new to this setting! I would say that it enriches the experience to already have played Lovewood, but that's all!
And it's a big game, huh?
My biggest one yet, at least! The first draft of the script came out at around 127k words, but that's across all routes and dialogue options. An average single playthrough would be more along the lines of 67k words, for reference.
Sounds cool! Can I throw money at you to make you work faster?
I got a Ko-fi right here, or you can check out any of my Itch projects and buy Invisible Seams or the Lovewood Artbook if those appeal to you! Only if you want though. My work ethic is already fueled by the deep-rooted impish desire to Make A Thing!
That's all for now! If you have any more questions about the project, feel free to ask. Please take care out there, and you'll hear from me once I have some more things to share! 🌻 - Dev

Lovewood is now on itch for free!
It's the week before Midsummer, so it's finally time to release this game into the wild!
> Lovewood on Itch.IO <
This is a really exciting step, and I hope you all have a good time with the game <3
What kind of game is Lovewood? It's a cozy fantasy visual novel about dating fairies! Included are six potential love interests, a platonic route and the possibility to pick the protagonist's name and pronouns. A playthrough takes up to two hours, and there are builds available for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.
Sounds good, but is it also funny and gay? I tried my very best to make it so.
Alright, I'm sold. How much money do I have to throw at you? None! You can download the game for free on Itch if you click "Download now" and then "Just take me to the downloads". Donations are very welcome, but not necessary!
Enjoy the game and stay safe, y'all. <3

You should totally check out Jey's work, it's super well-made and just dripping with passion!! (Plus I always love myself some good comicking!)
As for me, I create fantasy visual novel games! With the art, writing and coding all being done by me, and almost all of the games I created so far are available for free. 🍀
There's Lovewood, a queer-friendly dating sim with plenty of fantasy adventure shenanigans! You can find it here on Itch.io!
The most recent ones are small side stories. When Trees Turn To Ice is about two boys who love each other trying to survive a cold winter, and Living With Ghosts is about a young woman meeting the ghost of her mother and having to face the grief from many years ago.
Check out my Itch profile for all the games I made:
I'm currently working on another game, so if you'd like to follow along you can find me yelling about it on my side Tumblr! 🍀
I am being so serious when I say: if you have the financial and time privilege to get a group of friends together and make an indie project, PLEASE do. Indie games, indie animations, indie comics etc etc
the art industries are kind of in the shitter. It’s not so much because of AI (though that doesn’t help) but because studios just aren’t hiring people and funding projects anymore. People whove been in the industry for decades are finding themselves struggling, and once you have a mortgage or kids it’s harder to do something as risky as making something on your own.
completing projects is hard. it takes a lot of time and effort, and most people can’t afford it. so if you CAN afford to make art, even at the risk of no financial gain, I strongly encourage you to be as resilient as you can. We’re at a point where these industries are not going to turn around by themselves, and waiting for jobs to open up again in order to get experience and portfolio work might not be realistic.
people have been making art and telling stories longgggg before we were getting paid for it, and people aren’t going to stop just because no one has hired them to do so.
for everyone else: support indie artists when you can!!!! That person who made that cool indie game or youtube animation or webcomic might be doing this full time! your support might be the only reason they’re able to keep doing it.
and if you have already started an indie project: you’re so brave and I’m very proud of you!!! in fact, drop a link to it in the reblogs if you want! 👇

Content Overview
Since I love myself a good efficient pinned post, here's an overview of games in the Lovewood setting that exist and links to where you can get each one! All of these games are available for Windows, Linux, Mac and Android.
Lovewood
The original dating sim that introduces the six main characters as love interests. It's free, it's cute and it's cottagecore. The protagonist can be named and pronouns for them can be chosen! A playthrough takes around 2 hours. Available on Itch here!
Frightwood
A short and sweet Halloween-spinoff created over the course of a month for a game jam. Focuses on Aleth, Moth and Blossom as teenagers who are trying to discover a spooky treasure in the woods - Big 90ies Halloween special episode vibes. The protagonist in this story is called Janus and uses male pronouns. It's free and a playthrough takes around 40 minutes. Available on Itch here!
Invisible Seams
A large sequel that explores a timeline in which Moth wasn't chosen as the love interest in Lovewood. He's now our protagonist and gets together with a gentle lycamorph tailor to take a stand for their shared passion - dressmaking! Lots of wholesomeness and some dramatic action ensues. A playthrough takes around 3 hours. Available on Itch here!
When Trees Turn to Ice
A small winter-themed spinoff about Nord and Atlas having to make it through a long and harsh winter together. Similar in scope to Frightwood, and a tad more serious in tone than the previous games. No choices in this one, and a playthrough takes around 45 minutes. Available on Itch!
Living With Ghosts
The shortest of the bunch, a free spinoff game with focus on Blossom as she has a ghostly encounter and has to navigate grief, guilt and all the feelings around it. Be warned that this is a real tearjerker of a game. A playthrough takes 10-20 minutes. Available on Itch!

I am still inching through the game at a snails pace bc every other line of dialogue they say or do something cute and I just have to put my phone down for a few minutes to process it
Playing lovewood now that I'm home, and this mate has literally said a single word and I would die for them
#lovewood#this is my first dating sim#so i wasnt sure what to expect#but i sure wasnt expecting the first fucking person to leave me a sizzling mess
