Dochu La Pass.

The Dochu La Pass is a mountain pass in the snow covered Himalayas inside Bhutan out and about from the capital city (Thimphu) to Punakha valley where 108 memorial chorten's (stupas) known as "Druk Wangyal Chortens" have been worked by Queen Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the oldest Queen Mother of Bhutan.

Aside from the Stupas there is a sanctuary called the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (sanctuary), worked to pay tribute to the fourth Druk Gyalpo (King of Bhutan), Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The open grounds in its front yard is a setting for the yearly Dochula Druk Wangyel Festival. The pass with 108 memorial stupas is adjacent to the nation's first Royal Botanical Park.

The pass is situated at a rise of 3,100 meters (10,171 ft) (3,140 meters (10,300 ft) and 3,150 meters (10,330 ft) are additionally referenced) on the East West Road from Thimpu to Punakha and further east in the Himalayas in the midst of the Eastern Himalayan snow-shrouded mountains. Toward the east of the pass, the snow clad mountain peaks of the Himalayas are seen conspicuously and among them is the Mt. Masanggang at 7,158 meters (23,484 ft) which is the highest peak in Bhutan, referred to in local language as the Mt. Gangkar Puensum.

The street east of the pass runs steep for some distance and afterward takes a left turn towards Punakha Valley to the Punakha Dzong (Fortress), in Punakha (the old capital of Bhutan), which is situated at the confluence of two rivers. Further east the street arrives at Wangdi Phodrong where there is a seventh century cloister on the edge, and the valley is depleted by the Punatsangchu River.
