5. if anything, what would you change about your childhood? Honestly, I wish my childhood had been more stable. It was very erratic, and my parents were not always emotionally available. I wish I had had parents that were more present. I wish I could change that more than anything. Sometimes I look back at that lost, lonely little girl who was begging for her parents to notice her for who she was and just love her unconditionally, and it makes me want to cry.

12. who do you wish you could connect with but haven't been able to connect with?

That is a really good question. I'm not really sure, maybe my mom? I have always wanted a stronger relationship with her, but we are completely opposites in nearly every way. I wish we weren't, because sometimes, I just really want my mom.

The heat from the water wafts in the air in small gusts of steam that can never build up, too drafty with the door open, but Dean can’t bring himself to close it—too claustrophobic, the two of them filling up the shoebox bathroom, locked in with no escape.

“We should, uh,” Sam starts, swallowing—Dean can feel the weight of his gaze fall of him when he pauses and sucks in a breath, and Dean can’t stop his fist from clenching in his pocket, ready and willing to take another swing, “we should get you undressed so I can take a look, give you a once over, make sure there isn’t any��”

“Any what?” Dean asks, voice cutting a razor-sharp edge. “Damage? We both know I’m damaged goods, Sammy, no need to examine it up close and personal. I’ve had worse.”

“Dean,” Sam says, a hard edge to his voice, all mountain frustration. He holds his hands up; surrender, or peace, Dean isn’t sure. He can still see the blood on his knuckles. “Quit fighting me, and let me help for once.”

89. sarcastic narrators: entertaining or overdone?

VERY entertaining unless it absolutely isn't. i always feel like saying "i like it when it's done well" is a cop out because i like most things that are done well but this is really really one of those things. for me there has to be at least some degree of actual light-heartedness to the sarcasm, and tbh a fair amount of sincerity of any tone behind it for it to be tolerable, but if has those things and it seems like the writer knows how to use the sarcasm artfully, then i'm all in. some of my favorite narration voices of all time have been sarcastic shits. that said though it can also put me off of something entirely so yknow it's delicate imo lol

90. do you notice your own voice in your writing style?

oh yes. yeah i have an underlying style that to me feels pretty distinctive. it varies by narrator, since i like to switch my style up to fit the pov character, but like...i'm aware mostly of how i sound by default. sometime someone will point out something that i didn't realize was part of my style, but i think typically i would know what to look for if i had to pick my writing style out of a line up.

(unless this question means "do you write how you talk?" in which case...kind of? i think my writing style is how i talk but more polished, with more fancy little stuff and antiquated constructions thrown in and less slang)

94. do you prefer dialogue or description?

description. i don't like writing dialogue :p i can only write dialogue in the shower because i have to be in a context with no distractions where i can "hear" it and i have to out loud say the things the characters are saying in order to feel like i have a solid handle on it — which is super inconvenient because i can't take my laptop into the shower with me and i usually forget most of it by the time i'm in front of the keyboard. there are select few character dyads whose dialogue i can actually write "live," but i can't include anything but the dialogue while i'm doing it, even for them. i don't always write dialogue in a way i'm confident of as a result because it's too obnoxious doing it the "good" way much of the time. i love description though! so fun. i get to descriptive sections and go "oh thank god i can Indulge and Luxuriate for a while" lol

Austin Con was a blast. Have some pics. Thoughts in no particular order: I think my favorite panel was JDM and Samantha Smith. Laughed the entire time. JDM is very charismatic (don't know why I'm surprised)! J2 were all heart eyes all the time. Lisa Berry was pure sunshine. Karaoke rivaled Nashville for my favorite of all time. SNS was awesome as always, I laughed and cried with Rob. Ruth and Felicia were awesome. Austin itself was so hot but I think I fell in love with it. I'll be back--just not in August. Matt Cohen got a lot of mileage out of his injured finger--hope it's all healing up! When I got Rich's autograph he kind of twinkled at me and I legit blushed. Actually worked up the nerve to talk to Jared during my op and he was lovely as could be. I may have cried afterward for a moment. Not including my ops here, but they were super fun to do, especially with Lisa Berry who I got to have a couple extra special moments with. Seeing Jared's Baby was also completely worth the trip. Best quote: JDM: What are non-John-sympathizers called? Sam Smith: Supernatural fans. 👏😂👏 But my favorite part of the weekend was getting to talk to SPN friends IRL! Which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?

Oh god, most of them? Not necessarily my friends, but definitely co-workers and family. Looking at my AO3, even my fluffy IT fic is still underage sex, so it's easier to determine which stories I would be ok with people finding and reading, provided they can't look at my AO3 profile. I have a few 100% gen pieces from From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and The Vampire Diaries that would be suitable, as well as my very early Supernatural gen pieces—which I don’t think are very good, but nothing offensive in them.

Let’s get weird, Ruby/Lucifer

yooooo now here is one, isn't it. so...i don't ship this BUT it's complicated (is it ever not complicated? i am always saying thing are complicated).

Why don’t you ship it?

lucifer thinks ruby is gross :/ if they had interacted, he would have been awesome about it in the same way he was awesome about meg, but it's one thing to praise a demon for their loyalty and a different thing entirely to be into them. also...ok, so, it's not like lucifer is above sam manipulation tactics, but i don't really see him being especially on board with ruby's tactics in particular (i'm not thoroughly set on this view though; maybe he'd be like 'eh, fine' depending on various factors). that said, one-sided ruby/lucifer is like, very close to canon in ruby's religious devotion to lucifer and horniness and possibly even demonic love for sam. i will and do happily read it (to the extent that there are fics out there to read for them), and i do also ship ruby/sam/lucifer, but just ruby/lucifer on its own is a tough sell, to me. it's a very thin line though...on a different day i might draw the line just to the other side of this and say i ship it 😂 What would have made you like it?

the main scenarios i have for this are worshipful religious ecstasy-ish (wherein lucifer is not really involving himself in whatever ruby is experiencing but is actively encouraging her fervor...like in this fic by @rubysimp), and through ruby/sam/lucifer (long fic concepts i will never write...apocalypse interruptions via sam managing to tolerate talking to lucifer enough to understand his damage and goals properly, and suggest an alternative to the apocalypse that lucifer decides to indulge ("sam is so clever good for him, sure let's try that"/"gotta kill time waiting for the yesses to line up somehow"/"this seems like it would endear me to him, if i decided to try out his thing he wants me to do; i can always get back to my won thing later"/"there is a very small chance this will actually work but it would be nice if it did"). and the alternative is about *fixing* things, rather than purging them, since lucifer creating demons is what got him damned in the first place — i think there was a demon curing plot in later seasons that i didn't see but i vibe with the concept, but in this divergent au scenario it's something that starts in s5 and becomes a large part of s6. ruby would have to not be dead to be an ideal test subject for this but that's fine, she can be alive; she didn't necessarily have to die at the end of s4 it was just sexy of her to do that. anyway, with her claim that she uniquely remembers what it was like to be human (real? false? who knows, but it was put out there), she would be a great demon to try to elevate back into humanity. perfect proof of concept. anyway this would be very difficult for everyone involved and would require a lot of near-surgical level intimacy between lucifer and the grittier parts of humanity to understand why they're like that, rather than just seeing that they have things wrong with them, and in this course of events a grudging, unpleasant sort of respect could develop in lucifer for ruby, that she is willing to subject herself to all this, and she might stop revering him so much but develop a different, more realistic sort of admiration, and in THAT situation, i think ruby/lucifer would be very compelling) Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

i have nothing but positive things to say about it, i think it's a fabulous ship
