To go with the announcement for more beta testers for the demo of Online Obsession, I thought I should post the custom perfume I ordered from Lovesick Witchery that I based on Adisorn Moore. It smells pretty good (testing it today, though I had just gotten it yesterday).
There are tons of interesting notes to choose from, but I ended up settling on strawberry and cream for his choice to main Strawberry Paws in Star Blitz, pandan leaves for his heritage, sweater accord for the coziness, tobacco for his smoking habit (I'm sorry, but I refuse to go full cigarette smoke), night air and snow musk for the winter season and snow themes, and steel... just because. >:3c

Here's the other character-based custom for the moment. This one is My Sweet Housemate, based on Seung-Min from My Sweet! Housemate by @sourmiiiilk
As with the previous review, the notes and such will be below the cut and this one also uses fractionated coconut oil for the carrier oil.
My Sweet Housemate: Fabric softener, carrot, lettuce, rice milk, tonka, black linen, cashmere woods, and copper.
Inspiration: This is another character-based one and said character is from a comedic indie visual novel called My Sweet! Housemate (which is where the name came from). His name is Seung-Min and he's a cannibal, so this one is Quirky. According to the dev of the game, he has a tendency of smelling like fabric softener from regular clothing laundering to get those pesky blood stains out (hence the fabric softener, black linen, and copper). Since the game has a small cooking minigame, I also wanted some carrot, lettuce, and rice milk. The tonka and cashmere woods are a fun little extra, in a woodsy fragrance sort of way.
Cursory Sniff: Very clean with a little earthiness from the veggies. It's really pleasant and it's something unique, as far as fragrances I've tried.
Wearing: Yup. It's clean laundry and earthy veggies. I think I also smell some of the woodsiness of the tonka and cashmere woods in the background. That earthiness is very different from what I usually wear, but it's pleasant when mixed in with the cleaner notes. I don't really parse the copper, but I don't find that to be a bad thing, since I would prefer that note to be light.
About an hour later, the whole thing has gotten much softer. It's mostly a little whiff of fabric softener and probably also the black linen. The whole thing is soft, musky laundry with a hint of woods and vegetables. I'm interested to see how this one will change over time.

so, you want to try some fragrances, but the big houses are pretty expensive
…here's some indie companies worth a try! they will generally be more affordable, and they also offer some unique fragrances that bigger houses might not have tried yet. remember to consider getting a sample of anything before blind buying a larger bottle!
deep midnight perfumes - incredible selection of perfume oils with a specific focus of folktales, high fantasy, goth/vampire vibes and retro inspiration, but there are plenty of options and themed sets as well
pulp fragrance - i love the general whimsigoth retro book cover aesthetic of theirs, but pulp fragrance also delivers on unique fragrances and realistic nature scents. their scent index is sure to have something you're looking for! fragrances come in roll-on and wand cap samples. amazing longevity from my experience as well
mad labs studios - very fun and well-made fandom inspired fragrances! right now they have fallout, baldur's gate 3, the last of us, resident evil, and much more. i was gifted the astarion fragrance and it genuinely smells so good. they also have wax melts!
alkemia perfumes - established in 2009 and still kicking, alkemia has an insane amount of unique options to try from for very reasonable prices. they're a very reputable indie company. their perfume list is crazy long and full of great options
groovygalaxy - a fragrance etsy shop with cryptid creature inspiration. i've gotten a sample for mothman mall specifically and enjoyed it more than i thought i would!
andromeda's curse - a really good indie shop with very nice custom sample packs. honestly really good projection of their notes, they know how to really balance a fragrance and let each note have their time to shine
lovesick witchery - i like a lot of these, babydoll head really threw me for a loop and i enjoy the more 'out there' artistic ones, but there's a lot to choose from and they're all pretty solid! their longevity isn't perfect but they're fairly inexpensive and worth it in my opinion
poesie perfume - there are some really unique fragrances in here. green girl, forest cat, library ghost, and marlowe really caught my eye and i really enjoy what they make!
here's a whole spreadsheet with way more indie houses to take a look at. i have not tried all of these, but this is an amazing resource to support smaller businesses and try fragrances you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere

Another anon with a interesting scent combo; do you have any suggestions on what I could do for making my scent by chance? My scent is Rain / Honey / Matcha !
oooooo cool scent!!! here are some of the sites I’ve heard of that have interesting scents, and maybe that might help!
Demeter Fragrance Library — this one has separate perfumes that smell like rain, green tea, and honey that you could try layering!
Lovesick Witchery — they do custom scents!
Cherryka’s Trunk
Andromeda’s Curse
something you could try too is having aspects of your scent represented in various ways. You could assign honey, matcha, and rain each their own set of feelings and then wear these aspects of your scent depending on how you feel. or light a candle, etc, there’s a lot of ways to do it! your complex scent gives you that flexibility
oh and maybe mix soaps in the shower! I love mixing body wash to get to my scent
also if anyone has any ideas or more resources to add please chime in!

Alright! The customs from before the Martyr order have arrived and there were two character-themed ones (one for Dexter from The Eye's Embrace and one for Seung-Min Kim from My Sweet! Housemate). I was very curious about Not a Bride in particular, so decided that will be the one I'll try first.
For some extra info, I chose fractionated coconut oil for the carrier oil and I'm trying this the day after it arrived, so it's certain to change over time (for indie perfumes in particular, I'll put it away for around a month and try it again if I don't like it at first; it does work sometimes, to let it settle a bit). Anyway, here's the review under the cut. I'll list out the notes, mention a bit about why I chose what I chose for it, and how the first wear is going.
Not a Bride: Moonflower, lavender, hemlock, oakmoss, cedarwood, leather, spiced patchouli, and black vanilla.
Cursory Sniff: So pretty! It has a spiced smell to it that I really like (definitely the patchouli and I think I smell the leather there, too). Seems to fit the intended concept.
Inspiration: A character-based perfume and said character is from a visual novel (an outdated demo at the moment). This one is for a vampire named Dexter and he's from The Eye's Embrace (by @ghost-realms ). I'm very curious about this guy since he absolutely does not want to be in the situation he's in as a vampiric "bride" (don't know the story there yet, but I sure want to and I share his hatred of Bram, the vampire cult leader who clearly put him in that situation). Basically, I wanted to give him a pretty, herbal scent, but with a masculine side since he's by his own admission not a bride. The moonflower was mostly a choice that I thought would be vampire in a very unconventional way (not wine, dirt, blood/copper, black or red roses, etc.) and the hemlock is for some extra poison. Most of the other notes are ones I thought would be fun for the overall effect. I actually had omitted the lavender note before spitballing it (I like to consult before finalizing an idea, since why not), but Rachel had the same idea in that regard and I think offering that as a potential note ended up being a good idea. I didn't want it to be too floral, but I don't think it will be.
Wearing: Gorgeous! Smells like standing next to the prettiest guy in the world or something. I smell lavender in particular and there's something almost a little cold in there, but it's not a cold scent overall. There's a lot of nice herbal smells in general and I can pick out the leather and patchouli.
About an hour later, I can smell the perfume on my wrists while typing down notes on my phone. Smelling it closer, I feel like the lavender has faded out for the hemlock, which is a little more bitter but not unpleasant. Starting to smell the vanilla more underneath, I think. Overall, I find this perfume to be cozy.

This is the other custom perfume I ordered from Lovesick Witchery and this one is based on my OC, Oberon. I really need to brainstorm more for this guy, since I have ideas but it's not entirely settled.
The notes I chose for him are caramel cider to give him something sweet, along with the hydrangea (he also has a tattoo that includes hydrangea), leather, motor oil, and thunderstorm are for the cyberpunk type of setting he's in and to add some edge. The tonka, oud, benzoin, and black musk are to really round it out. I can't say that I'm an expert, but having someone to bounce this stuff on was helpful.
