Acid Mothers Temple regressam ao Porto

Depois da sua última presença no Porto em Maio de 2022, os Acid Mothers Temple regressam no dia 30 de Abril para atuar na Lovers & Lollypops. Com quase 3 décadas de existência, o grupo japonês é considerado um dos grandes nomes do rock psicadélico.

Os Acid Mothers Temple são, assim, considerados herdeiros dinásticos do rock psicadélico japonês, no meio de nomes como Les Rallizes Denudes ou White Heaven. Este é um coletivo multidisciplinar que nos traz uma necessidade de mudança e, como tal, torna-os exímios na música improvisada, imersiva e audaz.

O evento decorre a partir das 19h na Rua De São Victor 143 e os bilhetes já se encontram à venda (aqui).

Also note that I'm not trying to make the translations sound natural, I'm mostly trying to explain what the words are saying, sometimes I'll be more literal than others. Translation =/= localization. Edgeworth 設定‥‥？ Settei...? "Decided"…? Shouldn't the parties involved naturally just know…? Established...? (lt: Establishment...?) A lot is added in the ENG. Quite honestly, the first time I experienced this dialogue (in English), I didn't think much of it. I saw it as Edgeworth thinking something like 'How in tarnation don't you know whether you're together ot not?' Shouldn't you know?' That was my own reaction in the first place. I thought it was saying more about Paups' lovesick character than anything else. But the JP with its brevity made me question if that was the original meaning. He sounds confused. Still, I'm not quite sure. I would say in general though, it makes sense that in his mind, you don't have to actually communicate by talking about your feelings. He is pretty bad at it in the first place... communicating what he feels, I mean. He tends to talk around things, he's a bit roundabout. He tries to say 'thank you' to express his gratefulness, doesn't really work, and is far more successful at showing appreciation when he says stuff like 'A man appeared and stood fast against that selfish me' (ending of 2-4), such a thing just works better for him. He's stating the facts, but not his feelings themselves. That man appeared and stood fast -> it's a simple fact. He doesn't say anything about how that made him feel. When he tries, he feels awkward, foolish. Something that doesn't suit him.

'Darou ka' can be translated in many ways. 'I wonder if...' 'is it so', for example. Basically it expresses something akin to uncertainty. EDIT - a correction: 'sonna ni' actually means 'like that, to that extent, so much, to that point, to such a degree' So it can be translated in many ways: (To that point), is it something to be (so) embarassed about? Is it something to be embarassed about to that extent? Is it something to be so embarassed about? This last part is the most hilarious to me. He doesn't think it's something someone should be embarassed about, but he's also kind of uncertain. 'Wait, is it? Is it though? Am I missing something?' Kinda seems like Edgeworth is very confused. 'Should you be embarassed for such a thing? Is it supposed to be embarassing? I wonder if it's an embarassing thing?' And the maybe inner : 'Should I be embarassed about such a thing?' It's probably insignificant beyond showing Edgeworth's apparent obliviousness to other people's feelings and general misunderstanding of how some people perceive and experience romantic relationships, but it did earn a chuckle from me. So I thought I'd share.

HISTORY.

cat was born to a single mother, who, as she was told as a child, couldn't exactly say who her father was. her mother said it wasn't all that important anyways, she was all about centering women

she grew up in a home full of women, she almost never saw any men in her home, unless it was her mother or auntie's short term lover

of course, cat never really minded this, but there was a deep part of her that longed to know more about herself, who her father was. so of course she snooped. through her mother's journals, belongings, and even her grimoire, in search of anything that could give her anything

it wasn't until she was 11 when she found an old chest, locked away with an enchantment she was onto something. for years she studied her magic even deeper just to try and break the stupid thing

Saccharine sweet touched your taste buds and your lips tingled under the sour cherry effects. A sweet treat while Lee Know finished tightening up the last bits of his choreo was the only thing keeping you occupied. His strong legs hitched across the wooden floor with his eyes gazed... focused... on ensuring that his form was correct right down to the fingertip.

Your beautiful Minho. Always the perfectionist. Every movement, every action, was always done with intention. There was never any motion wasted.

"Almost done, honey?" The question was innocent enough. You had no need to move from the leather couch tucked in the corner of the dance studio. You were perfectly content curled under the perpetually present knit blanket, sucking on your lollypop and watching your boyfriend. It was just that the sun had set and your stomach was grumbling something fierce: a little lolly like this wasn't enough to stave your hunger.

"Almost, yeah. I just want to go through one more pass if that's ok." Minho was glistening under the hot lights of the studio, his sweatshirt forgotten and crumpled beside you long ago. His grey sweatpants were starting to stick to his hips as he flipped the hem of his damp, white shirt for some air flow. Peaks of smooth skin flashed passed your vision.

Your head was clouded with thoughts of your sticky lips leaving pink stains along the tops of his toned, salty hips. You nodded your head once. "Only if we can get takeout after."

He smiled in thanks and jogged back over to the computer to restart his track. There was a little bounce in his step as he clicked away at the keyboard. "Your wish is my command, love."

Each pass of the tart candy watered your tongue seek further nourishment. You rolled the glass surface behind your teeth and held the stick in your mouth while Minho ran through his routine yet again.

His forearms were stretched and veined at each beat like some marbled Grecian god. His thick thighs were pulling against the confines of his sweats, nearly bursting at the seam with each squat and grind he did. You could see a rogue bead of sweat on his brow trickle down the side of his cheek. Oh, what you would give to lick it off.

Bet it would taste real nice with cherry...

He caught sight of your ogling this time, smirked, and continued on his way. A burning shot through your cheeks, being caught admiring him like some pervert voyeur hellbent on eating him alive. Minho was yours and you were his. There was no confusion in that regard. But the idea of your lover peaking through you, watching him... watching you...

When the cat is away, the mice will play, as they like to say.

You pulled the candy from your mouth to open your lips wide in the practice mirror. Even from across the room, your tongue was on full display while you rolled the sucker across the tops of your taste buds. Your fingers twirled the stick enough to leave your lips coated with its sticky essence until the slick muscle curled back around the candy to suck it back into the crevice of your mouth. You felt yourself smile in Minho's direction, your feet rubbing against each other in glee.

Minho's eyes flashed back over to you for a split second during your little show, his eyes nearly rolling to the back of his head.

A minor misstep, a heavy groan. More eye rolling. Minho threw his hands on his waist and scuffed his foot on the floor. "Damn it, y/n."

He turned to face you, lips pursed. Your eyes widened. Caught, red lipped and red handed. The lolly froze in your mouth, yours eyes stuck staring to his. Your fingers were curled into the blanket and you didn't dare to move a muscle. Your hammering heart was the only thing that dared to make any sound.

Minho's movements were predatorial as he stalked over to the couch. The music played deftly in the background, nearly muted by the ringing of your blood in your ears. He dropped to his knees in front of you, his large hands over your covered knees. "Baby," he started, barely above a whisper. "Why do you have to make things so hard for me?"

Minho the perfectionist, who didn't like to be disturbed while he was working. Minho the dance captain, who wasn't afraid of scolding others when it needed to be done. Minho your lover, who knew when punishments were needed and rewards should be taken away. All different parts of the same whole: all equally frightening in some way or another.

His hands snaked dangerously up the top of the blanket, rubbing back and forth on your legs. You notice his eyes, dark and deep, blown out on the outlines of your stained lips. "You just have to tease me every which way, now don't you, huh? Are you that in need of attention?"

Quietly, he plucked the sucker hanging from your lips, a small pop left behind, and put it in his own mouth. He smiled with his teeth, holding the stick like you were before. He took a long drag of the candy before releasing it from his lips, the squelch of his mouth sending the heat from your cheeks to your stomach. "So needy that you have to turn to a damn candy instead of using your words, huh? All you have to do is ask. Anytime. Anywhere."

Your mouth was suddenly dried as he shoved the candy back past your lips. Immediately, your tongue wrapped around the globe of sweetness, tasting the candy, tasting him, while his lips grazed along the side of your ear. The heat from his skin radiated against your own and you swore he'd could hear your heart thrumming like a hummingbird in your chest.

🍄──favourite snacks...

Dylan, Dyl can't cook to save their life, which goes for baking too. However! They're quite adept at the decorating phase, especially cakes and cupcakes with stiff icing!

In true British behaviour, Shay's favourite snack is Burton's Fish'n'Chips, the strong salt and vinegar fish (and chip) shaped mini baked biscuits. He's also partial to a tube of jaffa cakes!

Kinsley loves cookie dough──whether it be cookie dough ice cream, baked cookie dough, raw cookie dough or actual cookies (white chocolate chip and macadamia nut!)

J actually has quite the sweet tooth! They're usually seen with something in their mouth, and if it isn't a cigarette it's usually a lollypop! Their favourite flavour is either grape or blue bubblegum.

Theo has a penchant for sour sweets! Their go to is a bag of sour patch kids or tangy haribo fantastics. (Their favourite colour sour patch kid is blue raspberry and their favourite tangfastic is the cherries!)

🌳──ways to relax...

It comes as no surprise that Dylan's way to relax is to get stuck in to something creative. When they want to shake off stress or anger they start throwing clay to make pottery (or just play around with it) but usually to unwind at the end of a normal day they tend to just spend a couple hours sketching the events of their day. It's usually a couple of portraits and an event but lately they've been drawing a lot of a specific few people...

Shay throws some hours into a video game when he can. Most of the time it's a more relaxed game like Minecraft or mobile games like Brick Out. And if he doesn't feel particularly motivated to game he, and this might be the surprising part, loves a long bubble bath!

Kinsley usually goes running to unwind, but when that's not feasible (or she just doesn't want to get sweaty) she has a little self spa session──face masks/skin care and taking some time to file her nails or paint them. If she's feeling particularly tense she'll use her face mask time to meditate/do yoga to help relax her muscles as well as her mind!

Being the (unlikely) bookworm they are, J often does read in their relaxing/free time. Lately they've taken to reading out on their balcony, reclining in one of the deck chairs squashed out there, legs resting on top of the railing with a smoking cigarette between their fingers. They stay out there, reading and listening to the street bustle until it gets too cold to stay out. (unless someone were to join them with a blanket and a book of their own? or perhaps J could tuck you under their arm and softly read aloud until both your eyes are too heavy to keep going.)

Theo is a lover of music──they like creating it at just listening. After a stressful day they'd find one of their playlists and just lay down and listen to the music with closed eyes. Sometimes they'll turn all the lights off or wear an eye mask like a pseudo sensory deprivation tank and just feel the music. (Most times Theo falls asleep with their headphones one, the wires getting tangled or the bulky frames digging into the side of their face when they roll over, so they're grateful when you join them in slumber after making sure they're more comfortable. Perhaps, in the future they'd skip the headphones and play the music straight from their phones speakers from between your heads.)
