What are your favourite deep cuts and why do they deserve more attention than they get? As in album tracks, b-sides or demos that don't get any mainstream attention, because these are always the tracks that either best represent a band's sound or are completely out of character for them in a great way.I also want to foster discussion, so I'd like to know why these tracks are your favourites and why you think people should pay more attention to them!Mine would be:Dead Star - Muse: not metal obviously but this b-side is definitely the closest they ever got to it. This will always be one of my favourite songs by them and the horrid mouth sounds are iconic.Vampira - Devin Townsend Band: I love the campy NWOBM vibe here - it's somewhat reminiscient of the band Hell (UK) in its bombastic occult energy. It's so damn catchy and the vocals in the chorus impress me every timeAll The Pretty Faces - The Killers: Something about the way this one sounds really gets to me, and it's the same for my friend. They'll never play it live as a deep cut on their b-sides collection of all things but a man can dream.Use and Abuse (Bonus Track) or Raven Wine - Avatar: I love it when they get aggressive and I love dancing to these two. The jazz influence in Raven Wine is gorgeous between the intense rocking verses. Really feels like I'm getting eaten by birds. Use and Abuse is a far deeper cut than Raven Wine, which they used to play live, but unfortunately not anymore and it was never a singleHeadless - Dog Fashion Disco: no clue if this was a single or anything because most of their top songs are taken up by their later joke music (which really isn't for me) but god what an alt metal track. this album wears its Patton influence very openly but there's a dark Acid Bath flavour to it as well that i just loveOld School Hollywood - System of a Down: not sure why me and my friend love this one so much. It's just mega catchy. It's literally just about the time they played baseball with a load of stars, AFAIK no deeper meaning to it. Fun. I went to the workshop to sand down the chopping block, because it was starting to resemble a bowl it had been used so lovingly and consistently for years of daily cooking, and had quite a savage appearance. I stripped it back down to bare wood, and spent a good time taking the layers down to remove the scars. 40 grit all the way up to 320 grade sandpaper, course to fine. The final rub down made it soft and smooth, ready for oiling and putting back to use in the kitchen after this well earned treatment. I've spent two days raw linseed oiling it at every opportunity, and it looks brand new and utterly beautiful. #choppingblock #choppingboard #diy #repair #loveold #oldtonew #woodwork
