I’m out on the road for the next couple weeks with @kristenwilkinsonphotography so here’s a shot from my archives until I get home with the new stuff. I spent my summers growing up on the beaches of Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Back then, the beaches were marked with big rock jetties every 100 yards or so, and people would walk out on them, only to have the lifeguards whistle them off when they got too far out. After the lifeguards left, in the evening, you'd find fishermen casting their lines from the jetty, or children seeing how far out they could walk. We would often find crabs hiding among the rocks, and often spent hours exploring around the base. My Mom and Dad retired to the Jersey Shore (no, not THAT Jersey shore), so when I go back to visit, I often take my camera out to catch sunrise, and a few years ago, I made the trek to the island and found this jetty to photograph as the tide came in, on the very beach I used to spend my days on as a kid. The sun was warm and soft that morning, and the waves washed up and over the rocks. I loved the patterns the water made as it ran between the huge boulders.
