Bringing this back for Megan Whalen Turner's signed series contest <3
The Queen's Thief is definitely one of the Series of All Time. Still obsessed, still astonished, still delighted, etc.
War, then.

The relationship between these two gets me where it hurts, every time…So when the concept “wrathful Eddisian pietà with floral symbolism” struck me like lightning, I couldn’t not paint it. Why suffer alone, right?
I had to do a bit of research to find flowers that are native to a Mediterranean-type climate and that also have appropriate meanings. For the embroidery on Eddis’ mantle, I chose valerian for readiness and purple columbine for resolution; growing around them are hyacinth for sorrow, hyssop for sacrifice, and tansy, for the declaration of war.
#WinASignedSetofTheQueensThief2024#the queen's thief#my art#how did i do this while in the middle of my MA...#doing my PhD now and I can't imagine where I found the time

Shearing half a sheep seemed a simple way to show a season's growth of wool, but photographer Cary Wolinsky was wrong. The half-shorn sheep tended to lose their balance and topple to wool-ward. It took many tries before merino sheep number 30 “became our hero," Wolinsky said.

“This intriguing formation, which resembles a fish’s or perhaps a dragon’s head, was discovered by Leigh Pugh on Stanton Moor Edge, near Birchover, when he was out trying to capture a photo of the sunrise. However, it was too cloudy to get a proper photo and that is when the photographer got the feeling that he was being watched.“
