I think I am a little ways ahead of you in Skyward Sword and JUST YOU WAIT! This game gets even better still. I am so excited and invested in this game you have no idea. And there's so much lore implications I can't wait to discuss once I've completed the game and have the full story.

It may seem like I'm playing it for the first time (cough it's because I'm really excited cough) but I've had the game for five years and this is my fourth time playing through it lol (and yes it DOES somehow get even better)

I definitely do!! WAY too many to list but here are a few that resonate especially:

not listing anything I remember recommending before purely because there are just too many incredible stories out there

limiting the list to 7 because after 12 it's my favourite number and 12 seemed like too long of a post?)

Thank you for the opportunity to shout about some of my favourite stories! There are so many amazing authors in this fandom, I'm constantly being blown away!!!

(apologies for potential patterns in the above re: certain genres angst or characters Hyrule - I tried but some things are unavoidable it seems)

*downs coffee like a shot, stares off into the rain, briefly nods to @unexpectedtraveler before staring off into the rain again, downing more coffee* Thinking about parallels between Hylia, The Pale King, The Pure Vessel and the First Link again.

How Hylia and the Pale King are both pale assigned deities (what with Hylia calling herself the white goddess in the manga), and how everything basically stems from them attempting to protect something, Hylia the Triforce and her people and The Pale King his kingdom and people from opposing deities that parallel them, both out of a sense of duty and instinctual design both. How they both doomed their kingdoms by trying to do the right thing with arguably the worst methodology, Hylia with unintentionally spurring on the cycle of reincarnation and The Pale King by having to watch Hallownest fall to the Radiance's Infection.

Thinking about how they both created a plan hinging on sacrificing one to save the many, and how it doomed people they loved or might have come to love had things been different from the very start, because as we all know deities have a different view of reality and thus see things very differently from us and it's difficult to define or even assign morals to it, how both First and The Pure Vessel were deemed perfect for the task even after being 'tainted' by either love, hate, a sense of duty or all of the above (see: First resenting the people of Hylia for being wrongfully imprisoned and not seeing himself as worthy, and the original Crimson Loftwing agreeing until the end stretch, and the Pure Vessel's entire deal of not truly being hollow) and how the two of them were imprisoned in hopes of making that plan succeed for an incredibly long stretch of time, suffering in isolation and being absolutely miserable, but only managed to contain the evil for a time and end up dead (or extremely likely to be dead each time in PV's case) so a sucessor to their position would come and finish the job a long time later, even if it won't save the kingdom. How they both did it in the name of someone they loved, goddess/likely lover and father respectively.

How both Hylia and The Pale King could not have foreseen the outcome of loving/showing affection to their chosen, 'perfect' champion, and thus suffered until the bitter end as well, how they both resided upon spaces far from reality to hide in shame and guilt for their actions and could see into the future (Hylia likely being the Goddess of Time as well as a White Goddess, and the Pale King with his foresight), how they both had someone else carry on their plans and will even from beyond those spaces, vessels namely in Sun/Zelda and The Little Ghost/Knight, but even then that plan didn't fully succeeded and their kingdoms were doomed to suffer, how Hylia created the Sheikah and the Pale King his many Kingsmould, Wingsmould and the Dreamers, how Hornet and Impa both stand in opposition to challenge Sky/Link and The Little Ghost/The Knight as an echo of the pale deities last orders, their words haunting them to the end of the road.

How they both are portrayed as dead, likely from regret after their retreat from the know world.

O' higher beings, what did you see under your pale watch, that would require such sacrifice that would be for naught? What did you witness that would still bring ruin to your descendants and people, no matter your best efforts?

Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but we can likely draw parallels between Sky/Skyward Sword Link and The Knight, or even further down the line between Wild/BOTW Link and either the Pure Vessel or The Knight, in this essay I will-

@unexpectedtraveler made this post (to which @lazyowl and I added) about whether or not a Red+Vio combination would simply disappear, since magenta light doesn't technically exist.

Anyway, long story short, I made some very pretty colors.

I love being in a fandom (two!) where this sort of thing is relevant.

More explanation of what I did under the cut!

Okay, so I own nine colors of paint—cool red (alizarin), warm red (cadmium light), cool yellow (ochre), warm yellow (cadmium), cool blue (ultramarine), warm blue (pthalo), viridian, raw umber, and burnt sienna. Oh, and white. I mix all my colors from those. You can see all but raw umber and burnt sienna on the palette across the top, since those are just browns I didn't need.

I made red from a combination of the two, since cadmium is kind of orange and alizarin is not quite bright enough. Green is viridian with some cadmium yellow to brighten and warm it up a little. Blue is mostly pthalo blue, but I added a bit of ultramarine that I don't think made much of a difference. (Pthalo is temperamental and likes to overwhelm everything.) I made my violet from alizarin and ultramarine.

Okay so the thing to know about mixing these pigments is that each pigment acts differently. Warm colors like to dominate a mix, but so do a few specific pigments. I go through a lot of ultramarine because it's rather unpigmented, I need a lot to influence another color. You also have to pay attention to warm and cool versions of colors, since they mix differently.

Since a lot of colors can get pretty dark, standard practice is to mix them with bits of white to see the color better. The titanium white I have cools and desaturates colors. I added little bits of the whitened colors in the corners to show them off better. :)

Red and green are complementary colors, but these specific hues aren't perfect complements, so they didn't make gray, they made brown. A very pretty brown!

Since the red and blue that I had were both pretty warm but not entirely, they didn't mix into the prettiest purple. That gray is really nice, though.

Blue and green mixed the way you'd expect, a nice teal that doesn't need much explanation.

Green and violet aren't complements, but they're close, so they desaturated each other into a nice cool brown color.

The violet and blue mixed just made a cooler violet, even though the blue was warmer. I like that color too.

And then easter color tints at the bottom because I had an extra space! :D

In conclusion: if Link is light, then Red+Vio only exists because of a brain trick. If Link is oil paint, then you should probably worry about Red+Green canceling each other out, if Red gets too cool. Green+Vio need to watch out, too.

He stood in the rain, silent and amazed as the storm raged on all around him. The sensation felt so foreign... it had been so long since he'd been sealed away in that wretched mask, so long since he'd felt anything. The Fierce Deity felt his skin prickle with each and every rain drop until he heard moaning and saw the little forest child who had been possessed begin to stir, and, sensing his host's desire to return, he reached up to take his freedom away once more.

Have any of the Healthcare Au peoples gotten stuck or stranded in a storm? (Sorry had to ask, I love storms.)

Sky: I’ve flown in a few. Don’t recommend it, we almost crashed one time. We’re not supposed to fly in storms, we do weather checks before accepting a call, but this storm came out of nowhere.

Wind: There was a really bad hurricane back home that was pretty terrifying.

Hyrule: Mo slipped on a slick driveway and the ambulance slid off the road and got stuck after a snowstorm once. It wasn’t fun.

So I was wondering for Healthcare AU, what is Wind's relationship with the sea? Does he like to go sailing alot? Is he obsessed with boats?

Wind originally is from an island community that got ravaged by the war, so his first love is always the sea. He's bummed that Castletown isn't by the ocean, but he loves any opportunity he can get to go to the beach. In the meantime he'll happily do boating on the lakes and rivers.
