Synopsis: A soft shared moment of peace between the three loved ones on a snowy night 🫶

Winter is always one of your favorite seasons. It definitely isn’t because of the snow. You hate having to constantly uncover the white flakes of frozen water from your car and pray that the doors aren’t frozen shut. It isn’t necessarily because of the holidays, even if they are always fun to celebrate with loved ones. It’s not even about the peppermint lattes you love to get on the way to work every morning when it’s being sold at your local cafe. Winter is your favorite season because of the moment you currently find yourself in.

The dim light of the television was the only thing illuminating your shared bedroom. The chatter of the late night show was quiet, just although loud to hear the men gossip about the actor’s movie and their experience on set. “It’s all rubbish, the reviews he’s speakin’ of..” You hear John lazily mumble against the right side of your collarbone, “The movie wasn’t any good.” The brit is against your side with an arm wrapped snugly just under your chest. His head rests on your shoulder, nearly falling asleep on you as the season’s early nights took its toll. The neatly trimmed mutton chops tickle your skin as he settles further against you. It’s a warm weight against you that you’ve grown familiar with, as well as come to love.

“Didn’t know ye watch cheesy rom coms, captain.” The Scottish accent of your other boyfriend fills your senses from your left and you turn to look at him with the same amused smile he’s wearing. Johnny’s eyes are closed, more in a half conscious state than John is. His head rests lower on your body, more against your chest than your collarbone, with an arm around your stomach, leaving you sandwiched in between the two men you loved so dearly. In addition, one of his legs is also laced with yours.

“Occasionally..” John mutters after a moment’s silence, earning a quiet chuckle from the scot.

The lighthearted banter between the two of them was always endearing to you, filling you with more warmth than the heat the two bodies around you did. It was more than welcome with how cold it’s been lately. You take a glance out the window on the left wall of the room, watching as large snowflakes fall down continuously. The hand on John’s shoulder absentmindedly toys with the hem of his sleeve while the other traces gentle patterns onto Johnny’s back.

These moments are scarce, but you cherish them with every fiber of your being. It’s not everyday you get to enjoy the peace and quiet. The worries that plagued your mind everytime the two went out for work are non-existent, even if it's temporarily. It is as if the dangers and horrors of the real world just aren’t there anymore and it was just the three of you.

A heavy sigh of content left Johnny and you could feel his weight against you become heavier as he relaxed. John places a soft kiss against your warm skin. You smiled lovingly at the feeling, tilting your head to rest against the top of his.

A yawn slips past your lips and John smiles against your collarbone at the sound, reaching behind him to pluck the remote from the bedside table. His movements are slow and careful, not wanting to jostle the two of you too much and disturb the peace that’s made its way into the atmosphere. “Get some sleep, sweetheart,” John whispered to you. He hit the power button, sending the room into total darkness before setting the remote back onto the table. His weight shifts back onto you, easily snuggling back into the spot against you. The blanket is pulled back over you before his arm returns back across your torso.

“You, too. G’Night, Johnny,” John said this with a gentle tap to Johnny’s nose with his knuckle. The scot simply huffs, already in the process of dozing off against you.

The room grows silent now, save for the collective breaths of relaxation being shared between the three of you. Your head falls to lean against the pillow under it, eyes falling shut. The warmth of the two men’s physical presence and love helps you to settle in a blanket of comfort. It works wonders lulling you to sleep in a matter of minutes.

Ok I didn’t think I’d be here voicing opinions but Our girl got me so incredibly heated… I was absolutely enraged at the way they took her choice away. It almost felt as tho because she had strived for it for so long and made it such an integral part of her ambition, they took away part of her. They know they’ve fucked up — granted Rhys gave the order but they went along with it. They should’ve found some better way of going about it. You’re telling me that the ONLY way of stopping him from spilling Night Court secrets was to kill him then and there? Now Y/N will never have that sense of closure or be able to fully let go of her sister. My heart absolutely ACHES for her.

As for the future, I’m really quite torn. I love a happy ending, but this one feels so harsh for Y/N idk if that would be fair. I feel like the general agreement is that the bat boys need to Grovel (and I mean that with a capital G). But rn they still don’t seem to fully get it. I think dragging her back and forcing her to stay will only lead to further damage. Like I can totally picture the boys trying all kinds of things to earn her forgiveness but because the wound is so fresh, seeing them only makes it that much worse. She needs time and space to heal and a way to find that closure.

Because THEN, if she does end up leaving, we get more angsty scenes with the boys of them begging her to stay but ultimately realizing they played a part in this and need to let her go for HER SAKE (doesn’t make it easy tho). Plus, then there’s time for reader to understand her powers on her own. Ultimately I think the main point here is the groveling. They need to understand how badly they hurt and betrayed her (even if it was with good intentions). I think they all deserve a happy ending, but it takes time to forgive and move on. Imo they can re-evaluate what values their relationship is built off and fix communication to make it stronger. But at the same ik if I was in Y/N’s positions I don’t think I could forgive them (but perhaps she’s more gracious than I am…)

I’m so sorry I went on such a long tangent I have so many thoughts. I haven’t been invested in a story like this for so long!!! I love your writing. I’ve been reading for what feels like forever lol! ❤️

Love that you speak about the reader finding out more about her powers too. Especially since they were used as a clutch to stop her from going on the mission. Definitely something I’m keen to explore.

Mjolnir and Mishka are mates (however you wanna take that as you want). I got Mishka as a baby from a farm store. I raised him myself and now he's an asshole (affectionate). But fr he hates the way I keep my blankets and feels the need to rearrange my shit all the time. He gives me love tho so I can't stay mad at him. He was my first baby. 12/10 no notes. 💕

Mjolnir is a rescue! I got him at 2 years old and he is and always has been the biggest grump in the world. If I talk a little too loud, he fucking thumps at me?? Like?? Excuse me old man. And he thinks I'm in the way ALL THE TIME. He'll nip at my feet or hands if they're in his way (all the time). But he doesn't do it hard so it's not malicious or anything. 😗

Mochi was a rescue as well and is unfortunately an outlier because he didn't bond well with the others but I refused to take him back to the shelter so now we take care of them all separately. He's feisty! And very skittish. But we love him anyways. Grooming him is a pain in the ass because he's a lion head and has SO MUCH HAIR. He's gotten quite nippy at me, less so now but I chalk that up to being abandoned. 🥺

I think warm and cozy. Not anywhere near being considered minimalist, but also nowhere near cluttered. Strange knick knacks that he’s collected during his travels, each with its very own little story about how it came to be on his shelf. Eclectic art hung at gallery height because he knows what the hell he’s doing…maybe even a painting or two of Jake’s. Plants everywhere. I refuse to believe this man ever allows an overhead light to assault his space (god, how I loathe them).

And I think it’s neat and tidy, but not because he cleans. I believe he likes a clean space, but hasn’t the attention span to actually stay on top of it himself. My guess is that he has a cleaning service, or maybe an individual who comes in a few times a week to keep things to his liking…and I know he treats them with such thoughtfulness. Generous in compensation and tips, likely a lovely personalized gift around the holidays.

Josh’s place is the beautiful, welcoming home where everyone wants to gather for game night, movies, holidays, etc. Although, I am never invited and I’m starting to take it personally.
