Art Fight 2024 was getting close, so I decided that my cherished pickaxe deserved a proper reference sheet for his character profile.
I strove to put all the important information on there, who knows, maybe some of it doesn't come across properly in all of my doodles! It's especially easy to miss that he has two pupils, I think. And the older drawings don't always stick to the segmented eyebrow.
An additional thing that I was unable to portray here is that if you have ever looked at the surface of a clear, hot beverage, such as fresh tea, in the sunlight, and seen the vapour rising off it and drawing patterns on the surface - that's how Te-ka's smoke behaves.
#mx creations#original art#digital art#colourpiece#reference sheet#Te-ka-ne-ru-t'Mon#Memories of Solitude#ahh perhaps I should talk about his voice some time as well… if you have any questions please write in I love to talk about my pickaxe

Meet the Artist: @sakrafka
Hello, I’m Boka or Farkas (Far-kash)! I’m an Eastern European artist under the name of sakrafka (shak-raf-ka). The themes of my art mainly revolve around sapphic and transmasc identities, wlw, nature, animals, and creatures (dragons!!!). I love experimenting and working with different mediums, mainly sculpting with ceramic and polymer clay but I also make animations, linocuts, textile printing, and more. One of the core elements of my work is to create more representation for gender-nonconforming people, especially women - because as such, I’ve always felt very isolated in my identity. I love breaking gender stereotypes and creating a space for people where they can recognize themselves in my work which I never had growing up. If you are autistic, queer or just love creatures, I hope you’ll enjoy my work!
Nice to meet you, Farkas! Below are some pieces she has picked out for you all.

Check out more of Farkas’ work, and be sure to check out their Tumblr, @sakrafka!

Director Jiaozi and the Chinese Animation Industry
If you’re on my page it probably means you’ve seen my endless gushing about Ne Zha 1 and 2. I’ve always been a huge fan of domestic animation (domestic for me meaning China) as well as international Japanese and Western animation.
In particular, I admire big blockbuster animated films that managed to both convey cultural, artistic and spiritual messaging through a medium as notoriously finicky as animation.
Some of my favourite animated movies (I think this is an opinion held by every animation fan) are the Spiderverse series (despite not being a Spiderman fan) and the Ghibli movies of my youth.
Being Chinese, though, I grew up with 2D animated TV shows that cemented their place in my upbringing. Shanghai Animation Studio movies such as Ne Zha Conquers the Sea 1979,
Havoc in Heaven 1961,
and even 1878’s Calabash Brothers (or Gourd Brothers? I guess?)
are all iconic parts of growing up as a Chinese.
Chinese animation has never been widely acclaimed on a global scale the way Japanese animation and sometimes Western animation have. The domestic animation industry is made entirely up of passion projects, which can seem great until you realise passion projects don’t typically tend to make money.
In a film industry as hyper-competitive and critical as China, most animation projects never tend to make it far. Art and music, while highly respected once you achieve success, have high barriers to entry. Chinese people are very critical of artistic work because of thousands of years of artistic development.
You may have heard of a recent animated film in China called A Mermaid Summer (or however it was translated). 2 people spent 7 years making it- the movie was bullied to oblivion.
A Mermaid Summer is, quite frankly, shit. It’s terrible. The animation is bad, the storytelling is bad, the voice acting is bad. It was, however, a passion project made by like 2 people on their own- people understand why it’s bad, and it’s not like we expected Oscar-worthy visuals.
Does this seem incredibly harsh to bully these two hardworking people? YES, it does! And it IS harsh and mean!
Understand that thousands of beautiful works (made meticulously and with great care) receive little to no attention in the domestic industry, made by equally small teams as A Mermaid Summer but with much higher quality.
The creators weren’t seasoned pros and definitely didn’t deserve to be bullied so much, but it would’ve honestly been much better if they had scrapped it. (They had actually considered starting over but decided to keep going, which I think wasn’t a good decision).
Putting out a bad product is never better than taking your time, even if it takes you a lifetime.
I tell you about A Mermaid Summer to establish some baseline rules in the Chinese film industry and how Chinese people want films to be made (both animated and non-animated):
It does not matter how long it takes. The end product has to be good.
If the product is bad, NO MATTER how beloved the director/idea/IP/characters are, it’s going to flop.
In an animated movie: either the animation has to be great, or the plot has to be great. If you have one or the other, it’s meh. If you have both, yay! You cannot, however, get away with having both be mid.
If the product is bad, no one cares how much work you put in or how sad your circumstances are: there is going to be ZERO people complimenting or watching your work. Results speak, not effort.
Doesn’t this seem very strict? That’s because it is, but it’s the reality. Recently a movie came out based on the beloved novel series by Jin Yong, called Legend of the Condor Heroes. Condor Heroes is probably one of China’s biggest ever IPs.
Its fans are everywhere. My parents love Jin Yong’s novels and so do 80% of China’s population. It’s as big as Harry Potter, basically, just for a different audience.
The actors in the movie are all popular too. Xiao Zhan, Leung Ka-fei, Ada Choi are all big-names.
However, Legend of the Condor Heroes completely flopped. The art direction and writing was bad and the acting was mid. The movie industry is not like the TV drama industry: if your movie is bad, NO ONE CARES if the actors are hot or if the IP is big, it will flop.
In this harsh environment, animated films especially struggle. We’ve seen a severe lack of good Chinese animated films. Is this critical culture to blame? Certainly part of the problem, but it’s also (somewhat sadly and ironically) what drives people to want to excel.
A very tough love solution.
This is why it is especially shocking and especially impactful that Ne Zha 2 is doing so well.
Ne Zha 2’s director’s stage name is Jiaozi (which means dumpling). His real name is Yang Yu. I will call him Jiaozi, though.
He graduated from med school in a fairly-prestigious university in Sichuan. Everyone knows how rigorous med school is. While he was studying, he spent every night holed up in his dorm figuring out the basics of animation. After graduation, he didn’t go to work- he spent three years living basically in his mother’s basement trying to make an animated film.
A very, very classically doomed story. However, against all odds, he did it. He released a 16-minute animated short in 2008 called 打,打个大西瓜 (or See Through).
It’s available on YouTube and it has a total of 0 lines of dialogue. This short, however, went viral for its anti-war, anti-hate and anti-propaganda message. It won a lot of domestic and international awards.
Through those three years he spent making See Through, he lived off his mother’s retirement fund of 200 dollars a month (1000 yuan), bought virtually nothing, and worked 14 hours a day.
See Through didn’t garner him instant success. After all, it was just an animated short. Within a year it wasn’t really mentioned anymore. He did, however, get his foot in the door.
Ne Zha is one of the biggest IPs in China. He has the most film/anime/comic/game adaptations after Sun Wukong (that’s including Dragon Ball and all the Dragon Ball spinoffs).
Jiaozi basically made Ne Zha 1 on two cents and a dream. The movie was low-budget (I’m talking 22 million) and in interviews, he revealed he had no money to hire a motion capture expert or a voice acting coach, so he did all of this himself. He even voice-acted some of the characters to save on costs.
The entire cast was unknown VAs. The animation was done by newbies just entering the industry. This movie was the definition of cutting costs.
Against all odds, it succeeded. Ne Zha 1 won fans over with its humour, stellar character-building and refreshing message. It became the highest grossing film of that year and catapulted Jiaozi into fame.
Almost as soon as Ne Zha 1 succeeded (within a year), Jiaozi began work on Ne Zha 2.
If you compare pictures of Jiaozi before and after producing Ne Zha 2, you can notice he looks like he’s aged a lot more than 5 years.
Jiaozi has said he’s an extremely introverted person prone to anxiety, and that he’s a huge perfectionist to the point where it’s harmed both his professional and personal life.
He outsourced many of the more complicated scenes on Ne Zha 2 to top foreign production companies. You can see their names (Korean, Indian, Japanese, American etc) in the end credits of Ne Zha 2.
However, he said in an interview that because the project was coming from mainland China (which, as we’ve established, has a fairly weak animation industry), these foreign companies sent only their lowest-rate animators despite the high rates Jiaozi was paying them.
As such, Jiaozi had to redo most of these scenes from scratch with domestic groups.
Hundreds of animation studios in China joined to work on Ne Zha 2. Jiaozi invested almost all the money he made off the first movie back into the second one. These workers were young, passionate newcomers to the industry- they once again didn’t have the budget to hire seasoned pros despite the much looser spending constraints.
The studios that joined Jiaozi worked at low rates (sometimes not even breaking even on labour costs) to produce Ne Zha 2.
5 years later it happened. Ne Zha 2 is making an incredible amount of money.
Most people are worried about the pressure the success of Ne Zha 2 is putting on Jiaozi- about a week ago he officially announced he’s stopping all interviews and publicity for Ne Zha 2 to go into “seclusion” to work on the 3rd movie, before 2 even finished airing.
He’s been working extremely unhealthy hours for over a decade. However, the results have paid off. That’s all we can say, I guess.
The reason why many Chinese adore Ne Zha so much isn’t just because the movies are good- it’s because the movies are good enough that they basically became hope for the future of the domestic animation industry.
A *relatively* small company (not small anymore, considering how big they’re probably going to get in the future) managed to make 2 of the highest grossing films in Chinese history and one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Jiaozi has made more in box office sales with 2 full-length movies than most directors with over thirty or fourty.
It’s incredible that what seemed like such a doomed journey turned out so fantastically. Many young Chinese animators now dream of working with Jiaozi, or becoming like him.
Of course, Jiaozi isn’t perfect. He’s at the very least extremely talented, probably a “genius” (or however you define genius) and incredibly hardworking.
His workers describe him as a nightmare director not because he’s rude but because he is incredibly nitpicky and has seemingly impossibly-high standards. He’s also a little bit of a douchebag (he made a short film called The Boss’s Woman that’s pretty misogynistic but it was never formally released).
However. You can’t deny that Jiaozi has accomplished what decades of animators before him haven’t been able to. Ne Zha 2 is the greatest animated movie in history. That’s incredible for the Chinese animation industry, which before Ne Zha has never been able to get a stable footing.
Some other Chinese animated movies I recommend as well as some notes.
As a general rating marker: I rate
Ne Zha 1: 7.5-8/10
Ne Zha 2: 9/10
The Shawshank Redemption: 9.5/10
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: 9/10
Decide from these rankings whether or not you think my opinions on movies are valid and if you want to keep reading.
大鱼海棠 Big Fish and Begonia 2016
7.5/10
Co-produced with Korean animation studio
Very touching, very tear-jerking
Animation is beautiful
长安三里 30,000 Miles from Chang’An 2023
6.5/10
Ehhhh?
It’s definitely touching but not for everyone
Not understandable for a wide audience: you’d need to know some basic Chinese history and culture
It’s okay
People either love it or hate it
西游记之大圣归来 The Journey to the West: Hero is Back 2015
7.5/10
The animation is just okay, but the story is great
Very hype
One of the first domestic animated movies whose release I actively followed
Without background of JTTW it’s not very good, but if you know you know.
新神榜:杨戬 New Gods Reborn: Yang Jian 2022
6/10
The animation is good: more precisely, the models are good
The storyline is kind of a mess
Much better than the other New Gods Reborn movie, which we don’t talk about
Worth a quick watch
白蛇缘起 White Snake 2019
6.5/10
Not bad, the storyline was meh
It got some hype abroad but it’s mid
Worth a watch but it’s way overrated
深海 Deep Sea 2023
7.5/10
The animation is beautiful and the story is good!
Worth a watch! I recommend it
Very dreamcore, floaty feeling
Gives you a sense of being not quite in our reality in a similar way as some Ghibli movies

Midoriya-sensei's boyfriend by @silverynight
Summary: "Midoriya-sensei?"
"Yes?"
"Is pro hero Dynamight your boyfriend?"
Izuku wishes he didn't blush that often because it makes it look like he's lying. He gets those questions a lot, but hasn't gotten used to them.
"No."
"Are you dating a pro hero?"
"No."
"Is he your husband then?"
"No." Izuku holds himself back from covering his red face with both arms like he did in high-school when he was too flustered. "Ka–I mean, Dynamight-san and I are friends. There's nothing else to it."

Eight years and counting by @silverynight
Summary: "For young Midoriya?"
All Might already knows it's for Izuku, but the question is not exactly about that and Katsuki is perfectly aware of it; he can see it in the soft smile of Izuku's mentor, he can see it in the way his blue eyes shine with knowledge.
Katsuki blushes, but he doesn't look away from the former symbol of peace. He's not that middle schooler hot-heated kid anymore. He's done hiding his feelings behind anger and he's not ashamed about what he feels for Izuku. He's pretty sure All Might knows about that, he's probably waiting for a confirmation.
Katsuki nods, blush spreading down his neck.
"It'll take years to make something like that."
"I'm aware."

how i long for our trysts by nikkiRA
Summary: Most nights the only thing he has the energy for is crawling into bed beside Izuku and falling immediately to sleep. It’s why they’re taking such a risk and doing this here.
That and because it’s hot. Sneaking away to fuck like they were teenagers again. That and Izuku’s suit. Katsuki has a Thing for Izuku’s suit, how nicely it contours to his body, how strong he looks in it. Anytime Izuku got dressed up, all Katsuki could focus on was how much he wanted to undress him.

see you at home by marsbarrss
Summary: “Deku, you dumbass, you forgot your lunch again,” he grumbles, pushing the wrapped lunch box into his hands. The floral print flashes up at him.
“Ah, Kacchan, you don’t have to make me lunch, seriously!” Izuku flounders, but he accepts the offering anyway. He sort of has to, or else Katsuki will flip his shit. “I can just eat at home…”
The class immediately erupts in chatter, jumping to question both men about their relationship.
Five times Katsuki disrupted Izuku at work, and one time Izuku disrupts Katsuki at work.

have you heard about the rumors? by DetectiveKirigiri
Summary: Everyone assumes pro hero Dynamight and infamous UA-teacher-slash-pro-hero Deku have been together for the longest time, but the thing is, they aren’t even dating, and Katsuki hasn’t even grown the balls to confess yet.
So what do their ever supportive and encouraging classmates do? Help Katsuki plan out the perfect confession to Izuku.
The only problem? So many rumors are starting to spread all at once. Also, they barely have any free time, and Izuku has papers to grade.

Happy with that? by polkahdotti
Summary: The first issue was that he and Midoriya hadn’t spoken in seven years, and likely the stupid brat didn’t even want to be a hero anymore, and had completely moved on from Bakugou for good.
The second issue was that the suit was nearly finished.
And Midoriya didn’t know a damn thing about it.

Summary: One of the students raises her hand and upon being called on asks, “Dynamight, sir? Is Mr. Midoriya your husband? Your rings match,” She points toward the chain around his neck.
With that assumption, the other students also start to whisper about how right this student likely is.
”Wait, that’s so right. Plus they seem so close, Dynamight’s always hanging around here.”
”Oh also a couple weeks ago when Yui, Haruko, Mizuko, and I came here for lunch, Mr. Midoriya was on the phone with his husband and called him Kacchan, which could be a play off of Dynamight’s given name.”
“Oh my gosh that’s so cute, y’know if they aren’t married I wanna figure out who goes by Kacchan, that’s so cute.”
”Also, remember when Dynamight showed up like a month ago or something and then after he left, Mr. Midoriya was wearing his wedding rings?”
”I’m just seeing evidence after evidence.”

Recharge by @silverynight
Summary: "Your childhood friend is taking too many extra shifts; he'll pass out soon at this rate."
Aizawa does that a lot lately; he casually walks into Izuku's classroom or his office, only to drop random information about Katsuki. It's usually something Aizawa disapproves of.
Izuku sighs, looking up at the window from all the essays he has to grade. Lately, Katsuki is making him worry too much.
The funny thing is that Aizawa believes he has some secret power to make pro hero Katsuki stop or change his mind; sure, they're friends, and he often listens to Izuku (yes, he also pays him a lot of visits) but it's not like the young teacher can work miracles.

Summary: "You're amazing!" The young man says after a while; listing all the things he likes about Izuku the most, his courage, his determination and his selflessness until he makes the teacher blush to the tip of his ears. "Can I get you something? A coffee? Something to eat? Maybe we can go somewhere else–"
Katsuki, who just got back with their food, places Izuku's latte and the croissant in front of him, as well as his own breakfast on the table. He sits quite aggressively next to the teacher and puts an arm around his shoulders.
"Who the fuck are you?" He hisses, clearly irritated at the fan still standing next to their table.

Busy by annasmith80
Summary: Izuku can’t shake the feeling that something’s off. His best friend has been distant lately, and no matter how hard he tries, he just can’t figure out why. Did he do something wrong? Is Bakugo mad at him? Did Bakugo get bored of him? All he knows is that Bakugo was suddenly busy and he won't tell him why.
Meanwhile, Bakugo is determined to do anything it takes to make Izuku happy. And what he thinks will make Izuku the happiest is the chance to be a hero again. So, he sets out to make that happen—no matter the cost.
Bakugo decides to fund a project to create a custom power suit for Izuku, but the expenses quickly spiral out of control. To make ends meet, Bakugo takes on a series of odd jobs on top of his pro-hero work: spinning signs on street corners, valet driving, appearing on a bizarre game show, and even modeling. It’s humiliating, exhausting, and leaves him busier than ever, but he’ll do whatever it takes to make Izuku happy.

Bakugou had a dilemma.
He never thought that something like that happened — that he eventually fell in love. He fell in love in a young and beautiful woman. He was glad that he met you though he was in two minds.
He met some miserable, horrible things in his life; especially the war against the league of villains reminded him of his bitter past — all the terrible pain formed his character that he was now. Even though he became calmer with age, his deterrent and wild nature was still deeply rooted in his character.
Nevertheless, you chose him; of all these people in this world, you chose the infamous Bakugou Katsuki.
At that time, he tried to get rid of this feeling by ignoring you or threatening you very often. But your ridiculous, optimistic, sugar-sweet nature wrapped him more and more around your finger; left a dizzying feeling in him.
Time passed; days became months; months became years. He did not remember exactly when he got to know you exactly.
However, he was very little interested at that moment.
His eyes wandered over your curves; in this sensual position you were in, you trembled under his feather-light touches. With each further touch, he warmed your body parts and you jingled up sweetly with your black, long eyelashes. Goosebumps spread on his body before he sank completely on your body; his chest pressed against your complete breasts and pressed his hardened cock to your center.
A sinful moan deviated from his lips; he rolled his hips again and again against your wet-streaking cunt and buried his face in the crook of your neck. Furrowed eyebrows, compressed eyelids - his sight was anything but captured and he bit himself on his lower lip to refrain from further desperate sounds.
"You feel sosososo good", he murmured hotter and his right hand wandered to your left chest; pinched firmly in your now hard nipple and thus elicited a pleasurable whimper from you. "Pleasepleaseplease .. more-!!", you screamed with pleasure; your eyes squinted with euphoria. You brazenly grabbed his hair and ask for more attention.
"More?"
A bittersweet warmth snealed along his spine, while now his much larger hands, in contrast to your much smaller hands, groped you. His nose ran along the crook of your neck; he kissed a way to your auricle and soaked in your honey-sweet smell for him. His stomach twisted seductively and his spit collected in his mouth with despair and desire.
Bakugou sucked and bit into your skin on your neck and it left a sweet taste in his mouth. He moaned with euphoria as he listened to your desperate whimper and your sounds directly drove into his painfully throbbing cock. His gaze turned to your sweet pussy; your sweet, little pearl that twitched with pleasure and at this sight he dipped his tip into your cunt before he buried himself completely into your depths.
A deep murmur buzzed from his chest; he felt his own cock twitch with desire when your sensual, narrow, wet-strimming walls nestled around him, so that his eyes rolled slightly into the back of his head; you also screamed with feelings of happiness and he tried, as well as possible for him, to fuck you through your orgasm; to fuck his white, thick sperm into your seductive pussy for him.
…
However, when he thought about it at that moment, he wanted to do just that.
Before his possessive thought processes devoured him, his muscular arms wrapped around your waist and lifted your upper body up; he groped along your curved spine and bit your lower lip promisingly.
"Ka—!! ~'tsuki!", you whimpered; threw your head back and he took the opportunity to sink his tongue into your usually so gobby mouth.
"There is something I want to talk to you about", he apparently released your feverish kiss; his suddenly strict tone shook your marrow and bones.
“Huh?”
He grinned devilish at this sweetly stupid look from you.
"D-During sex?"
You whined when he irritated your hard nipple with his index finger and thumb; your eyes squinted with desire and your toes curled.
Your stuttering triggered something shaky in him; you were hardly able to form a meaningful sentence - damn it was exactly how you were dear to him. He grabbed your jaw; pressed against your cheekbones and pulled his hot cock out of your sensually dripping pussy; but roughly forced his fat, thick cock back into your little cunt and when it penetrated you briefly saw light-clear starlets.
"You will end your career as a professional heroine", he said nonchalantly, while his ruby sapphires tied you up; he saw your forehead curling with confusion.
“What? W-Why?”
Meanwhile, you tried to wind yourself out of his firm grip, but he mercilessly grabbed your hips and searched for the sensitive point in you to keep you weakly. He pressed his pelvis forward; he slowly pushed into you to bring you to the deep abyss.
"You have to stop; it's far too dangerous for you."
"I a-am a h-hero li-ike y-you!"
Yes, he knew that you were razor-sharp on him; blew up the scale of professional hero ranks with your sweet, naive behavior. However, you had wrapped him, the almighty, oh holy Great Explosion Murder God Dynamite, around your little finger; he would not let go until he reached his own goal. He stared at you promisingly and his sudden silence scared you.
„Katsuki—!?“
Not another second passed; he pressed his pelvis more against your hips and hit your cervix with the tip of his tail. Your mouth opened in shock and your eyes rolled into the back of your head, while he painfully crushed your cheeks more and more with his hand; your attention was attracted to him.
A switch lay into him; the veins on his neck pounded with anger and desire while he gnashed his teeth. He did not ask you, but demanded.
"No, darling. The professional heroes do not need a woman impregnated by the second best professional hero in Japan."
An invile whimper deviated from your sinful lips; the tears collected in the corners of your eyes rolled down your cheeks in thick drops, which he wiped away directly with his fingers. He grinned naughty when he saw you drooling lightly; you tried to free yourself from his sweet, merciless ordeal.
"It is fine. You will be a good mommy; you will be able to protect our babies. You are sosososo strong —!!", this time your tight cunt, twitching with pleasure, elicited a loud moan from him, "damn it, I will come into your sweet, little pussy; make yourself round and full that you are always dependent on my help!" His hip lost in his own rhythm as he approached his own orgasm. He could hardly hold back himself when he reached his bittersweet end; thick, white, potent seeds splashed promisingly into your cunt and he made sure that his tip touched your seductive cervix; his hot dripping sperm reached your fertile womb. The saliva collected in his mouth when he thought about how he impregnated his honey-sweet little girlfriend with his children. He sat back slightly to look at his masterpiece; watched your dazed, broken, almost powerless state in which you were. At this sight, his cock twitched with desire and he moved again; stimulated you both tortuously and wiped away your tears; he lost himself once again in a sugar-sweet rhythm that made you whimper with fear and desire.
You could not see it, but the only way to dissuade you from your successful career was to let yourself be the sweet mommy of his children.
He hummed a melody to calm you down; to make sure that you were helplessly at the mercy of his desire that you will never disappeared a senseless thought of anything.

This maybe weird to ask what does all your version of the WGP racers look like in human form? And what HeadCanon’s you got for them?
This isn't weird at all! When I got your question, it really got me thinking about what the WGP racers - minus Lightning McQueen - look like humanized, and I already had a draft of them in an old sketchbook of mine. But I decided to spice it up a little. ⚠️TW⚠️: MENTIONS AND VISUALS OF SELF HARM!

In my last post, I made an art piece of Shu Todoroki humanized, so I took that and put it in his model sheet. I made the Ka-Riu dragon more present on his right side, and less present on his left, similar to his car counterpart. He's probably the only racer with belts on his boots, and he's also the only one without fingerless gloves, rather gloves that cover his entire hands. He suffers from self-esteem and self-worth issues, which are the breaking points for his mental health. Not only does he suffer from those issues, he also suffers from anxiety, which he developed from the World Grand Prix scandal, resulting him in having panic attacks. He uses makeup and concealer on scars that show, so the media won't have a field day with him.
I imagine he listens to Japanese pop music a lot, and he likes reading in his spare time. He likes to visit Japanese cherry blossom gardens, because it soothes his anxiety and calms his nerves, and he loves boba (It's one of his guilty pleasures). Song: Anxiety by Besmorph and the Tech Thieves.

Francesco Bernoulli's humanized design was a near-instant design for him. I imagine he has this long curly hair that reaches almost up to his chin on one side, and the other side meets his eyes. Unlike the rest of his fellow WGP racers, his racing suit is open - Similar to how his car counterpart has open wheels. (See what I did there?) Like Shu, he does have scars, which he got from his time grieving for his papa before he got some sense knocked into him. As I explained in previous posts, Francesco lost his papa during a race and he didn't receive the news until after. His coping mechanisms were unhealthy, and his way of training for races was exhausting his body. Giuseppe managed to talk to him, and he has healthier coping mechanisms to deal with his grief now. I think he's a good cook, because Mama Bernoulli taught him, and he's 100% pansexual. He did have a little crush on Lightning McQueen, and he does flirt with him every time, because he's a hopeless romantic. He's probably good friends with Luigi and Guido, and they would probably have spirited conversations. Song: Looking at Me by Sabrina Carpenter

Miguel Camino was the most fun to do, in terms of design. I had fun doing his Spanish flag, and you can see it's present EVERYWHERE on his racing suit. I made the top half resemble a toreador jacket, as it connects to his past career as a toreador before he became a racer. He also wears toreador boots, which he first got in his early days as a toreador, so he wears them almost all the time. Miguel has a few scars from bullfighting, and he also has a few from the Porto Corsa incident.
He does bullfight in his spare time when he's not training for a race, and I imagine he has a real competitive streak that scares even Francesco at times. Song: Living La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin or Sugar by Maroon 5

Carla Velosa....I quit on her three times.
No matter how many times I watched her turntable on Youtube, I still had a hard time distinguishing the details on her car. I couldn't tell if the primary color was a light yellow or somewhere around white, but I'm mostly satisfied with her design for now. I wanted to show that her suit sparkles, because she's figuratively and literally a star when she hits the dance floor. She has silver studs on her boots, because on her tire rims, there are silver studs on there. The blue is lined along her suit, instead of in a gradient. I think she loves to do dancing in her spare time. She probably took dance classes when she was a kid, and the passion to dance just stuck with her throughout her entire life. You can even see her dancing when you play her turntable on youtube; There's music playing on there, and she's dancing along to it! Being the only girl in the WGP group, she's fierce and it only gives her a chance to prove what she can really do under the hood. Song: Just Dance by Lady Gaga and Colby O' Donis

Max Schnell was probably one of the easiest to do in terms of design. I put the German flag on most of his chest with the World Torque Championship League right into the center. Since he's mostly this dark purple, I wanted to make the German flag present on certain parts of his racing suit, and I put a mini one on his shoes, too.
Since he's an engineer, I imagine he has a masters degree in mechanical engineering and he uses those to modify his race car, and make any repairs on it if he can. He knows a lot about the mechanics of a car and how it works, and he loves to study the track before a a race, so he knows exactly how he should approach it.
Song: I Like Me Better by Lauv

I kinda had a hard time with Rip Clutchgoneski, mainly with his secondary colors, but I was able to make it work.
I wanted the red and green to extend from his chest to his right shoulder, and it kind of goes down his sleeve in this sort of wave instead of in a straight line. The green and red on his left sleeve covers most of the orange there, and as for the pants, the flag is less present there. I wanted to give Rip hair that reaches up to his shoulders and I also wanted to make it look a bit scruffy with a small braid on the left side.
Rip has a really optimistic personality that he gets from his parents, mostly from his mom. While his dad told him to work hard to achieve his goal, his mom was the one to assure him that even if he doesn't win his races, he'll always be their champ because they're his number one fans. Along with being able to compete internationally for the first time in his career, it's this kind of reassurance that he always has a smile on his face - That and it gives him the chance to prove that someone from New Rearendia can do anything. He always wanted to be a racer when he grew up, it's his dream.
Being trans masc for Rip, his parents were really supportive, because it gives them the opportunity to love him even more. He got top surgery when he was 19 years old, and transitioned when he was around 14 years old.
Song: This is Home by Cavetown

Raoul Caroule was fun to do, and also the easiest. Since his car counterpart I wanted the suit to have this spray-paint effect all over in this splash of color, and I wanted his hair to be this light blonde color that goes almost to white that is tied back with a dark blue headband.
Raoul is an adrenaline junkie that's worse than Miguel. He thrives from danger, but only when it doesn't put his life in danger. He and Max are close to each other, and loves rally with a fiery passion. He visits his old friends from Cirque du Voiture during his off season when he can, and he loves doing stunts just for the hell of it.
Song: Drag Me Down by One Direction

Nigel Gearsely's design was the simplest I could do, which is why his racing suit doesn't look as busy as the others. It's just dark green, with light green going down his sleeves, pants and chest, with yellow on his gloves and on the center of his chest.
He likes tea, and he uses the terms such as "chap", "bloke", and mate" whenever possible. Out of the WGP gang, he's not that much of an adrenaline junkie, but since he has this catchphrase "Right then, let me at that track!" I imagine he's real excited whenever he gets to race and he's confident that he'll win every time - Or that he'll place in podium finish, at least. He's best friends with Lewis Hamilton and probably Max Schnell.
Song: Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee

Why am I just now realizing how similar his suit is Nigel's-
I think I had more fun with Lewis Hamilton's hair than I was supposed initially. I put those gold charms and accessories in his hair, but those charms are more present at the front than they are on the back, as you can the charms are at the end of his braids. I got the inspiration from Pinterest to put those charms in his hair, and in case it's hard to tell, his updo is half-up, half-down.
I didn't want to make his suit black or a lighter shade of it, so instead, I made his suit purple-black with a gold color instead of a neon yellow to make it agreeable with the primary color.
He prefers coffee over tea, and when he drank it once in Nigel's presence, it made Nigel upset. He's not ashamed of that tooth gap of his, and whenever he's around Jeff, he gets all excited because those two are like peas in a pod. Lewis and Jeff are in a happy, healthy romantic relationship, and I like to think they started dating a year after the events of the WGP.

Jeff Gorvette was kind of hard to do. I tried to make the flag look like it's moving on his racing suit, but I could never get it right, so I just settlled it for going straight down. There's more stars on his chest than there are on his pants, the blue is only present on his chest with the red being present on his pants.
Jeff and Lewis are - as I already said - are in a healthy and happy romantic relationship. I think he was the first one to confess his feelings to Lewis. The only reason he was able to was because Miguel told him to go for it, because it's better to get it off his chest, even if there was a chance Lewis wasn't going to reciprocate those feelings. When Lewis did reciprocate, Jeff probably cried because he had been holding it up for so long and the anxiety and stress finally caught up to him at that moment.
Besides being in a heathy relationship, Jeff is best friends with Lightning, Miguel and Nigel. He'd probably be the most extroverted out of the WGP gang if Rip didn't beat him by that record by befriending every single racer on day one at the WGP welcoming party in Tokyo.

long live (seulgi's version)
thomasian! seulgi x lasallian! reader
you're familiar of the girl with a face card that doesn't decline for as long as you can remember. loved her for years that you genuinely saw a future with seulgi, but with complications of tradition and religion, was she willing to fight for you the same way you would? (alt synopsis: the one that got away)
words: 4.3k
warnings: it's straight up angst, i don't know what to tell you; mentions of homophobia
“i’m so sorry!”
you didn’t notice the girl kneeling in front of you, rushing to get all the papers scattered on the floor. she had bumped into you, a bit surprising how a small girl like her manages to pack such a blow now that you’re on the floor. she’s carrying a bunch of props for her class - you’re familiar that this was a class requirement for the arts class. it was out of courtesy that you started helping her out, gathering the papers on the floor and some of the books as well. her face was familiar, you’ve seen her since sophomore year of high school.
the somewhat chiseled jaw, subtle cheekbones, and her eyes are captivating - that was how you remembered her back in sophomore year.
two years later and she seems a bit more mature, her jawline is still somewhat chiseled but it seems like her baby fat is already gone. she has bangs now which suits her face and showcases her eyes much more, but her smile is something. the way she thanked you as you handed her the props and watched her run towards the auditorium - she had to take off her school shoes just so she wouldn’t trip again.
“thank you, y/n!!”
she remembered your name, it shouldn’t matter - everyone in your high school knows everyone. such a small space that you feel like the world revolves around it but her remembering your name somewhat leaves an impression on you. her being a year lower than you and let alone you never left quite an impact on your school, aside from being an honor student and participating in events that actually interest you which was mostly the sportsfest. still, you know her face, you know that she's a year below you and that she’s a great dancer, but aside from that nothing else.
sure, you may or may not find her pretty when you first saw her back then during the annual dance competition at your school that you passed on. not like the pretty girl in the center really knew you but somehow she remembers your name - it’s so small but why is it affecting you so much? even looking at some identification around your body; your ID on your pocket and you have no nametag.
walking back to the auditorium after your prom practice, fate has a weird way of playing with you that day. the atmosphere was somewhat tense, everyone in awe as you stood at the back, watching the play on stage that was produced and performed by the juniors for their arts class - she was on that very stage. hair in a ponytail as she danced her heart out, as if she was made for the stage and you understood why everyone was immersed in this high school play. the way she carries herself, her movements, the guy she’s dancing with seemed like an amateur but you’re well aware how great of a dancer he is, just that he couldn’t match her energy.
you’re glad that your best friend was there, filling you in on the play and what has happened but you weren’t that interested in it - you had one thing in mind and you needed it out.
“ano pangalan niya?” your eyes glued to the girl on stage as she exits, the lights go out but you could vaguely see her silhouette as whatever the narrator says goes in your right ear and out your left.
“huh? si seulgi? pre, medyo tanga ka ata - prom partner ko yan.” it never really occurred to you that the girl was your best friend’s prom partner, then again - they’re both great dancers.
“crush mo?” almost out of instinct you wanted to push your friend and deny it all but you weren’t even sure. you could consider her a happy crush to say the least, your only response is to shrug because you don’t know much about her to conclude anything. that conversation was immediately forgotten as you heard the sound effect of a gunshot loud and clear, watching seulgi slowly fall to the ground to act as if she was shot, gracefully done as well.
that was your first encounter with seulgi.
the following week was prom practice and you found yourself talking to your best friend, who kept on nudging you to at least try and talk to the girl.
“tigilan mo ko, bam.”
“nyeh nyeh, aminin mo na crush mo.”
you rolled your eyes as you let your friends converse amongst themselves as you slowly sneaked off to the side and played on your phone - no one was bothering you until you sensed someone sitting next to you. the quick glance at your phone and the whispered ‘wow’ and ‘amazing’ was distracting you a bit but nonetheless you looked to your right and there she was. watching you play a random rhythm game on your phone as you tried your best not to make it seem too obvious that you’re now a bit distracted with her next to you.
usually you’d hate having people watch you play but there’s something about her watching so intently to you playing this game and almost as if she’s taking note on how to do it as well. it didn’t take long till you silently offered for her to play – there wasn’t much to do during prom practice, you were only waiting till they actually taught the dance.
“ah hindi -” she tried to push your phone away, although you could perfectly see that she indeed wanted to play - you still insisted.
“it’s fine, go for it.” your first proper interaction with this pretty girl was through a game, one that she admits that she was bad at - you told her she’s average even if she was bad. a part of you wanted her to feel good at least, to have fun, enjoy it, but there’s the other part of wanting to see her smile up close.
“seulgi nga pala. seulgi kang.” she handed back your phone, that subtle smile of pure shyness and happiness. you’re sure you’ve probably added her on facebook before when you were in elementary - back when the basis of friends were the amount of mutuals you have despite not knowing them personally.
“y/n. y/n sevilla.”
a week of prom practice and you bonded over a rhythm game, what an odd encounter yet it was a chance to talk to her without the influence of others. that was the beginning of you and seulgi becoming friends. almost talking every single day as you go back and forth on random topics, her ranting about groupmates while you ranted about preparing for exams.
it was like fate was playing with you when you only started talking to this girl when you’re about to graduate high school and head on to college. given the circumstances, you never really understood your feelings for her, understanding that once you go to college that it might be the end of it. the plans to fully cut people off from your high school that aren’t your best friends was about to be pushed through but seulgi seemed to remain in contact.
during the summer, out of the blue she had asked you to hangout, it was not much. you threw a few suggestions until you both decided to just go to the mall and look around, get lunch or snacks within the day.
this wasn’t a date but you tried to put a bit of effort in your outfit, both agreeing to just meet up at the mall. she gave you a pic of her outfit to know what to look for, somewhere within you gained some confidence and sent her a message saying she’s pretty. all you got in reply is her laughing and cursing at you in a lighthearted manner, yet you doubled down and told her in person once you two finally met up.
“you’re pretty.” there’s a faint blush as she jokingly shoved you, avoiding your gaze as if she’s going to turn into stone if she looked at you directly.
“gago.”
“minura pa ako.”
everything was taken lightheartedly, the curses, the compliments, you were being honest and she couldn’t handle it everytime you would say she looks pretty with the bow she wanted to buy or the cap she wanted to get you - almost everything about her made you say that it’s pretty or cute. that it reached the point where she had to try to make you flustered because it seemed unfair how much she’s blushing from the amount of compliments you threw her way, unexpectedly, she held your hand as you were about to enter another store - you’ll never forget how soft her hand is compared to yours, or how small it is, and how it wasn’t just you that was blushing once you closed your hand around hers.
“are you trying to flirt with me?”
“what if-” she loved to tease you, squeezing your hand back as she took the lead and continued on with your window shopping. this time you kept your mouth shut, never mentioning how cute it is that she’s holding your hand as she tried another cap on you and getting herself one as well. saying that it matches the whole opposite aesthetic you both have.
you found it endearing how she still held your hand even after you had to let go just to tie your shoelaces, it felt natural that you’re starting to consider if this was actually a date. some girls are physically affectionate, it wasn’t like you knew if she swings that way - that was a question for another day.
it was mundane as your friends would say. that there was nothing exciting about going around the mall and window shopping, or getting bubble tea before heading home. regardless of what their opinions were, you enjoyed your time with her, a simple hangout that does not require much physical activity aside from walking around. then again you truly wondered if it was a date or a hangout.
once summer was done, seulgi continued on with her life back at your high school, while you were already starting your life in college. the talks and hangouts didn’t stop there - it felt like a tradition to see each other once a month, find something to do and talk about life or any updates. the longer you talked and spent time with her, the more you realized that you were developing more than just a happy crush, you were liking her more by the minute.
when the conversation came up, one that you never really talked about - crushes. a bit reluctant to admit that you had a small crush on her back then but didn’t think much of it because you never knew much about her. a crush is simply the lack of information about the person.
“so, wala sa block section mo?” it almost made you laugh, not expecting her to be curious about any possible relationships happening. you simply shook your head, placing your boba on the table, leaning back on your chair with arms crossed. seulgi was never one to ask about such things, most of which she’d ask directly or word would have gotten to her.
“no, i’m like dying over my classes and you expect me to look at someone in hopes of dating?” there was a look of disbelief on seulgi’s end, as if she wanted to slap you across the face and make you see what she sees.
“oo. hello? you’re y/n sevilla, who wouldn’t have a crush on you.”
“you?”
before you could process what you had replied, seulgi was quick on her feet and was hitting you on the shoulder. a habit she does whenever either one of you would say something funny or shocking, and it doesn’t seem like it’ll die down any time soon.
“tangina mo? anong ako?” you bit your lip, looking away from her piercing gaze as she made sure you would look at her when you answer her question but you could only look up at the ceiling or down to the floor.
“gusto kita.” that’s how seulgi found out, she already had a hunch but to hear you say it out loud at a cafe with its only customers being you two, it felt like you had screamed it. a minute had passed, turned into five, then ten, sitting in silence as you kept your eyes on your drink and on the floor.
“kailan pa?” you never had an answer to that, when you’ve only known her for almost a year and suddenly you’ve lost track of time because when did you start liking her that way?
“i’m not sure i could pinpoint the exact moment when i felt it but i could tell you that i’ve liked you for a while now.”
“tangina, englishera.” you rolled your eyes at seulgi’s teasing, having been months and you’re heavily exposed to people speaking in english, it just naturally happened. seulgi laughed as you flipped her off, but she was happy, surprised to say the least; she felt the same way and it was nice to know she wasn’t delusional.
“gusto din kita.” you’d think it would be that easy; you like each other why not just put a label to it already. no, if anything she wanted to test the waters a bit more, see if you’d stick it out and honestly you didn’t mind. the true test of your feelings had always been time and distance - she had asked you to wait for her. it was seulgi, you’d do anything for her even if it meant you need to be patient and see if she’ll answer you.
everything felt like it was normal, except the messages became sweeter, a bit more affectionate, and neither of you held back when it came to admitting that you missed each other. you called whenever you can to study together, she would initiate and ask whenever you’d be free for your monthly date - no longer a hangout.
it had been 4 months when you two had confessed and you were at her graduation not because she gave you an invite. you were there because of a mutual friend who had given you the extra ticket she had bought just for you. this should have raised a red flag in your mind - she didn’t invite you but her friend did. questions were slowly being raised when she didn’t hold your hand in front of her parents or how she kept her distance, then it made sense why she had asked you to wait. in the eyes of her parents, you were a friend and a possible threat because no friend would do the same things you would do. when you were left alone, by the stairs away from prying eyes close to the school gym, anyone could hear the quiver in your voice as you watched her pull her hand away from yours.
“are you ashamed of me?” seulgi knew how observant you are, but it took her by surprise to see how you had managed to get it wrong.
“i’m not - ang complicated, ok.” the slow reach of her hand, carefully looking around as she held your hand giving it a reassuring squeeze as she explained it all. she wasn’t ashamed, her parents are simply too traditional that they want her to date someone who is as traditional as them.
“god, i wanna scream it out to the world how much i love you and i didn’t mean to hurt you. i’m not ashamed of us, or what this could be - you have to understand that we live in a country that isn’t keen on the idea of two girls dating.”
it pains you to admit but seulgi is right, in a country that isn’t fond of any form of same sex relationships, it was expected. some safety precautions to be considered to not be outed as neither of them knew what her parents could do. you were grateful for not having to experience that yet it pained you that the girl you like can’t openly express her feelings. so you’re now labeled as best friend till who knows when.
despite that, you still managed to go out with seulgi after her graduation and anyone could see the happiness in your eyes despite the insanity of your program at DLSU. when animusika came, you had asked her to come. it was gonna be the first time she’ll be at your university and you wanted her to meet your college friends, when she said yes, it felt like your heart was gonna explode.
when you both watched animusika, you asked her the question while lola amour was playing - your heart definitely exploded when she shouted a yes through the crowd as you tried your best not to kiss her in front of the band or the crowd. she also told you how she would be going to UST for college, a complete win for you, meaning it would be easy to see her whenever you have the free time to do so. everything felt like it was going your way and it did, your entire relationship with seulgi was the happiest you’d ever been.
there were hurdles.
seulgi hadn’t been replying to you for a week now, you tried to recall if you had done anything wrong or if her schedule was busy. if anything she would have told you and as tempting as it is to suddenly show up at her dormitory, you knew better than to just show up unannounced. she was ghosting you.
that entire week was the worst - you’ve never overthought a situation so much that it made you feel queasy, food looked unappetizing, and all you could do is study till you drop because you were in such a fast paced environment that taking a day off would cost so much. so many questions went into your mind, all left unanswered when she finally replied; a part of you was pissed, relieved that she was fine, but also confused.
“sorry, busy with classes. now i get why you’re losing your mind over organic chemistry.” that was her reasoning, classes, studies, and at first you could let it slide, that it wasn’t something you should hold her against. then weeks turned into a month, and at this point you were close to assuming she had broken up with you.
you didn’t.
same reason, she tried her best to keep up with the relationship and her studies. she loves you, that’s what seulgi kept saying after she apologized. that entire thing only happened for a year - she stopped ghosting you after you confronted her about it, she apologized once again.
and you still didn’t notice the red flags as much.
some would say you were blinded by love, others would call you a martyr with how much pain you could endure for your girlfriend. still, you loved her with everything that you are. it was seulgi, there was a future with her in your mind.
there were also good times.
seulgi was one for physical touch, but she truly showed her love through acts of service. it was just a normal day, luckily for her she was on vacation while you were suffering from your classes especially with midterm right around the corner. you definitely were losing it but something about seulgi calling you and checking up as she listened to your rants that started out light then slowly turned into a full blown breakdown - she had to come over and make sure her girlfriend felt better.
it was such a simple thing of bringing a care package of your favorite snacks, a small plush that had her perfume to keep you company, and a bunch of letters that made you question if her love language is acts of service or words of affirmation.
that wasn’t the first time she had done it, within the span of your relationship, almost every midterms or finals she’d send a care package. who wouldn’t think of a future with someone as sweet and considerate as seulgi?
then again, you didn’t want to end it… but she did.
out of all the relationships you’ve had before and after kang seulgi, you can admit that she was the one that got away.
how did it end? how did you lose her?
you weren’t at fault, she just couldn’t handle the way her parents had been forcing her to break up with you when they found out. it was an accident on her end, she had kept your relationship a secret for so long but she wasn’t ready to be kicked out or disowned. how was she going to support herself when her tuition is insane, she can’t depend on you on something as big as her tuition - she didn’t want you to think that she was only dating you for money. god, kang seulgi loved you so much but she wasn’t willing to fight for it.
she wasn’t willing to fight for you.
“so that’s it?” there was disbelief in your voice as you croaked while tears freely flowed from your eyes. time had passed by slowly as you both sat there at your place while seulgi held the box of her belongings as she tried not to break down in front of you. if anyone was going to be the strong one, it would be her yet she let a tear slip as she nodded, biting the inside of her cheeks as she looked at you one last time.
“i’m sorry.”
“i know…”
seulgi could only stand by the doorway as you cried in front of her, tear stained cheeks with blood shot eyes.
“you were a wonderful experience, y/n…”
“... you were everything, seul.”
kang seulgi, the girl who you learned a lot about love from - you matured within the four year relationship you had with her. after the break up, you didn’t want to be friends as it stings so much that you wanted to hate her just so you could move on but you can’t. everything that you were back then, she saw it all; from your best up to your worst - seulgi saw it all and yet she still loved you through thick and thin.
ten years had passed since you broke up - life works in such mysterious ways because once you cut someone off, you never see them again even if you were in the same place at the same time. within those past ten years, you met a lovely girl at medical school and she was so patient, understanding, you did end up marrying her.
you adopted a child and to say the least you never expected the kid to rummage through your old belongings and see a picture of you and seulgi back when she officially became your girlfriend. you told her everything in a way that a five year old would, she took it lightly - didn’t question your loyalty to your wife and hoped that she won’t bring it up once again.
“what if you see her again?” there was no answer to that question because what would you do if you saw the very girl that got away?
“i’d say hi, ask her how’s life been treating her, and end it there.”
“are you really telling our daughter about her?” irene had walked in, she’s well aware of the story of you and seulgi and she didn’t hold it against you. she was grateful that you had met seulgi, that things had gone through its natural course as it led you to her.
“minjeong is only a kid, rene. she won’t remember it.” you were so wrong.
fate is indeed a tricky thing because your daughter had runned off somewhere in the mall, frantically retracing your steps - until you saw her with a lady that somewhat looked familiar. her hair was longer, the baby fat was gone, she seemed a bit leaner with some muscular definition but time had been kind to her. there she was, with your daughter, watching as the kid ran towards you as you scolded the poor five year old for running away somewhere.
“y/n?” her voice had definitely matured as well, slowly looking right at her as you carried the kid in your arms as you smiled at her. the pain was no longer there, that’s when you knew that you have long moved on and didn’t care for any of the answers to your questions.
“hi, seul.” she was all too familiar with that smile, a part of her longed for it for years but seeing you right in front of her felt like she was back to being a kid. seulgi regretted not fighting for you once she saw how happy you are with your wife and daughter. she could have had that but fear had consumed her yet it didn’t stop her to talk to you like an old friend.
“tinawag niya akong tita… ni-”
“minjeong, yeah… not long ago she saw a picture of us and asked about it.” you cut her off, immediately explaining the entire thing on how your daughter got curious. she never expected you to freely talk about her nor the fact you kept a picture of you two, even when you’re now married. there were a lot of things she wanted to ask but a part of her wasn’t sure if it was a good idea. she did want to say one thing.
“i’m so sorry, y/n.”
“it’s fine… it’s been a decade, seul.”
it felt like deja vu, like you’re back to being high school students who had bumped into each other. this time you’re not chasing after her, she’s now a girl who you loved that your daughter will surely ask about and it won’t hurt as much as it did as you tell her the story in a way that was written as a fairytale.

It's officially New years for me here! I am not the best at words, but I'm thankful for the support that I've received for the short amount of time that I've started posting art more often.
What started off as me wanting to just Archive some art I'm proud of snowballed to so many memories that I'll look back fondly to, so many silly ideas that breached containment that I remember seeing people do (Like the draw your oc reacting to their fave card that me and addie just talked about as a joke, and the Shroompocalypse that was just meant to be an Jade stealing people's yume joke)
I'm glad that I met so many amazing people and discovered new artists on this site! With that said I want to drop a few words of thanks to some of the amazing people that I've met here <3
Firstly, thank you to @oya-oya-okay being my first ever follower and mutual! If it weren't for you sharing my art I wouldn't be able to meet so many of my moots, your words of encouragement means a lot to me (and to other people that you also support!) I wish you well in life!
Thank you to @natsukishinomiyaswife ! If it weren't for you reaching out to me back then I probably would've continued lurking. You're a dear friend to me and I enjoy our random talks! May it be about life, or our own interests 💕 I hope the new year treats you kindly.
Thank you to @justm3di0cr3 ! For giving me so many ideas (some I've yet to finish...) and for listening to me whatever the topic maybe. I'm thankful that I met you! You're such a considerate person, always checking in on me whenever I feel down. If something's bugging you, I'm always all ears!
Thank you to @scint1llat3 , your overwhelming support has helped me so much. It's always fun seeing your currynoodles, and just your art in general. But it's just as fun just reading your thoughts! Your comments/tags are always so fun to read 😭 I hope you never get tired doing what you love! Labyu lodicakes (/p) kain ka ng madaming pansit sa new years for long life
Thank you to @jovieinramshackle ! I remember feeling so scared due to some inevitable changes, but seeing your general words of encouragement during that time helped me so much. Wishing you the best on your journey as well!
Thank you to @fell-e ! Your keysmashes and memes are so fun to see 😭 Genuinely need to know how you make them so quickly. Thank you as well for being my earliest supporters, I probably would've been burnt out so quickly if you didn't show genuine interest in my arts.
Thank you to @part-sadist ! For the laughs that you give me from your silly sketches, and for acknowledging some of my ideas. You've contributed so much ideas to my to do list as well, to the point that I don't think I'm gonna run out of any drawing prompts any time soon (They just need to give me the time already...)
Thank you to @taruruchi ! for being one of my earliest supporters, it's just so nice to see someone with similar interests as me! I still have so many Oz and Taru interactions that I want to make, so I hope you look forward to them hehe.
Thank you to @jadelover69 (i miss your old name /j) Thank you as well for your overwhelming support! I love seeing the things you rb on my tl, may it be twst or different fandoms you're interested in. They help lighten up my mood whenever I need it!
Thank you to @the-travelling-witch ! We haven't been mutuals for long, but you've always been so supportive of me! Thank you for showing genuine interests in my ocs! And for sharing me rambles about yours as well! If you ever get any new ideas, I'd love to hear them :> (Probably not asap due to Timezones and schedules, but of course I'll get to you soon!)
Thank you to my friend (alias Melone) If you see this I hope you know that I'm thankful that you pushed me to draw more. You'll always be my no. 1 hypeman, and I wish we can spend more time together soon. 2024 really is cursed-- our annual meetup didn't happen 😔 I hope we can meet soon! I still need to give you my gifts from your birthday.
If I could add everyone I've met here I genuinely would 😭 I love all of my moots/supporters /p.
Honestly I feel like I'm more cynical qnd negative irl... due to many reasons, but perhaps it's due to the people that I've met here that I'e had such a positive influence, which I'm honestly so thankful for. It's helped a lot with my personal struggles.
If you've made it this far, I hope you know that life gets better. A struggle today, doesn't determine the wind's path tomorrow. Wishing you all Happy new years! I hope that this coming year will be kind to us as all ^^

I don't know why the sequels of the IPs in the Spring Festival did not achieve the effect I expected, but The Legend of the Condor Heroes exceeded my expectations. I have watched several of Tsui Hark's movies, and my impression of him is that he is a romantic martial arts old man. After watching The Legend of the Condor Heroes, I think this is even more true. Tsui Hark is really romantic. His lens language has its own characteristics, which is implicit and magnificent. These two somewhat contradictory words can be expressed in the movie The Legend of the Condor Heroes. It is not an exaggeration to say that Tsui Hark is the best.

The movie The Legend of the Condor Heroes is a very good work. I had low expectations because I saw many people dislike it on Weibo. I watched it based on the idea that I must watch all five movies in the Spring Festival, but The Legend of the Condor Heroes gave me a big surprise.
I have been crying since I saw Huang Rong masked and saw Guo Jing crying. The Legend of the Condor Heroes moved me. I cried for the love that accompanies each other through life and death. This silent love moved me very much. I cried that Guo Jing's mother committed suicide to protect the country so as not to drag Guo Jing down. I cried that Guo Jing did not forget his homeland after decades in Mongolia. I thought of the overseas Chinese, most of whom care about their motherland. If the motherland is in trouble, they will come back across the ocean.
I admire Tsui Hark so much. The shots are so beautiful and the love is so romantic. In Tsui Hark's writing, life is so beautiful. The only regret is that Huang Rong in my heart is more cunning and beautiful than Zhuang Dafei.

this next one is explaining the idea behind this specific scene that some people are ridiculing. cause they are expecting a big battle to happen.

The painting on the left shows the scene of Chinese soldiers guarding the border, and on the right is a picture of Guo Jing fighting against the Mongolian army. Several Chinese soldiers opened their arms to show their firm determination to defend the country's territorial sovereignty. Guo Jing was also firm in the face of foreign troops. What's wrong with this? This action is actually the first reaction in an emergency. What's wrong with this design? He is well aware of his own insignificance. Guo Jing will not use brutal killing to fight against the Mongolian army, but the Khan is not stupid. He did not retreat because he was moved. He saw Guo Jing's lethality and his own army was also demoralized, so he retreated. He didn't understand this.

Not a fan, a brief review of The Legend of the Condor Heroes. I took my parents to watch The Legend of the Condor Heroes. The first half was bland, but the second half was exciting, with many big scenes and great special effects. I was attracted by Xiao Zhan's looks before, but this time his makeup made people pay more attention to his acting skills. I think his acting is OK, his lines are also very good, and his Mongolian is well received. The heroine is cute when she smiles, but Hua Zheng is too outstanding and overshadows the heroine as soon as she appears. Tony Leung Ka Fai is worthy of being the best actor. After watching this drama, I am a fan of Ouyang Feng. I have watched too many movies in the past two years and I am aesthetically fatigued. Xu Ke's martial arts films are eye-opening.
The righteousness of the country and the family is a belief that integrates the blood of the Chinese people and will never go out of date. The show I watched was basically full, and most of them came with their parents. I don't mean to say that other movies are bad. It is true that most of my parents are more interested in Xu Ke's martial arts. The end credits of the movie came out, and everyone didn't leave until it was completely over. Most people should be satisfied. At least for me, leaving the heated room and going out in the cold, I would be really angry if I spent money to watch a movie and it was not good. but I think The Legend of the Condor Heroes is worth watching. Finally, I want to complain about the official promotion. The highlight scenes are not used for promotion at all!

Finally, let's talk about "The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Greatest Hero". Tsui Hark is the best martial arts film director. The war scene between the two armies is simply too shocking!
The first 10 minutes are more than just grand and spectacular, it's simply going to blow the world away. Thousands of horses galloping and dust flying, the visual impact is so strong that it is worthy of being written by Tsui Hark.
The following story is full of romantic love and ruthless killing, and the huge contrast of alternating performances is like ice and fire.
What is the greatest hero? In order to protect one side, he is willing to give up everything and never bend. Whether it is against thousands of troops or fighting against Ouyang Feng, the Western Poison, Guo Jing and Huang Rong are both brave and courageous. Both the emotional drama and the fighting scenes are brilliant.
Guo Jing, portrayed by Xiao Zhan, has changed his previous image of being stupid and dull, and his resolute and vigorous spirit is refreshing.
Huang Rong, played by Zhuang Dafei, is no longer the wild girl who only knows how to cheat and deceive people. When it comes to the crucial moment, she is as brave as a man.
The performances of many supporting roles, such as Ouyang Feng played by Tony Leung Ka Fai and Hua Zheng played by Zhang Wenxin, are all outstanding.
Tsui Hark is undoubtedly the golden signboard of martial arts films. From the popular "Unbeatable in the East" to the benchmark-setting "New Dragon Inn", to today's classic, the overall performance of the actors, the extraordinary audio-visual feast, and the interpretation of the spirit of chivalry have all reached a level that amazes the audience.

——
Tsui Hark's film "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" is quite a pleasant surprise. It restores many of the main characters and plots of the original novel "The Legend of the Condor Heroes". The visual impact is particularly shocking. It is indeed a masterpiece of Tsui Hark's martial arts. The movie is exciting. It not only has touching national justice, but also romantic love, the cruelty of war, and the pain of the people being displaced.
At the end of the plot, Guo Jing's dialogue with Genghis Khan clearly explains what the chivalrous spirit of "the greatest hero" is. It is not only reflected in the high martial arts, but more importantly, it is to have feelings and righteousness, care about the world, and be able to stand up in times of national crisis without considering personal safety and gains and losses. The value of "the greatest hero, for the country and the people" will make people cherish the precious peaceful environment now. When the familiar melody sounded, the call of "Brother Jing" and "Rong'er" instantly pulled back the highlights of the past years, and I couldn't help but think of the green years and college classmates chasing the TV series "The Legend of the Condor Heroes".

Recommend "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", full house, more than half of them are from Hong Kong - three friends from the Greater Bay Area to Beijing and Xiangyang to watch the movie. In general, Tsui Hark's version of The Legend of the Condor Heroes still has his own distinctive style, especially the final game between Guo Jing and Ouyang Feng, which is very exciting. I was also very moved after watching it. The martial arts finally returned with the spirit of chivalrous and brave heroes. This spirit is not only needed in martial arts, but also in our era and this world. People like this are still needed to achieve and write.
A friend who works in the Greater Bay Area, "The Great Righteousness of Heroes and the Family Governing the Country and the World" - Watching "The Legend of the Condor Heroes"
I took the time to watch "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" today. Before the movie started, I made two surprising discoveries. The audience was almost full, and most of them were from Hong Kong. (Since I have lived, worked and studied in Hong Kong since the early 1990s, I can distinguish Hong Kong people and Hong Kong dialect.)
Therefore, Jin Yong's martial arts novels, TV and movies are the memories that accompanied my best years. Through his characters, Jin Yong explored themes such as loyalty, love, friendship, power, and desire, showing his deep understanding of human nature. But after watching the movie today, I have a deeper feeling than the chivalry of the martial arts world and the righteousness of the country.
In the movie, through the different levels of emotional interactions between Guo Jing and Huang Rong, between the master and the apprentice, and between the Mongolian brothers, I felt their deep friendship and chivalry. These have been the indispensable spiritual core of Chinese culture since ancient times. The chivalrous not only violates the law with force, but also walks the world with righteousness. They value their promises and put their lives aside, help the poor and the needy, and use their personal strength to maintain social fairness and justice.
In the movie, there was a dialogue between Guo Jing and the Khan on the battlefield that made me feel deeply. The Khan stared at Guo Jing and said, "I regret not giving you a Mongolian name." Guo Jing firmly replied, "Even if I have a Mongolian name, I still remember that my name is Guo Jing." ... ... The righteousness of chivalry is not only reflected in the protection of the weak, but also in the loyalty to the country and the nation. Such a deep-rooted sense of identity with the nation and the country. Throughout history, those Chinese compatriots who have made great achievements overseas and still resolutely repay their motherland are not so chivalrous!
I saw some comments online saying that this movie can be renamed "Guo Jing Chasing His Wife"... Most of them are negative comments. In fact, as an ordinary citizen, the first thing is of course the love for family and friends. If he can't love his family and handle the small family and small feelings well, how can he manage his family, govern the country and bring peace to the world? Managing the family means family harmony and a correct family style; governing the country means national stability and political clarity; bringing peace to the world means pursuing the great harmony of the world and the happiness of all people.
This concept emphasizes that the thoughts that Guo Jing's mother instilled in him since he was a child have always revolved around the gradual process of individuals, families, and then countries, and finally achieving world peace. This is also an important concept in Confucianism. I think the film team should have a very good understanding and grasp of the central idea and spirit expressed in this film. I think this is different from the previous films of Xu Laoguai, which are more profound thoughts.
The righteousness of chivalry and governing the country and bringing peace to the world by managing the family seem to belong to different fields, but in fact they have a profound internal connection. The righteous deeds of chivalrous people often start with the responsibility for the family, and then expand to the responsibility for the country and the nation. The righteousness of chivalry is the spiritual foundation of governing the country and bringing peace to the world by managing the family. Without the righteous deeds of chivalrous people, it is difficult for the family to be harmonious, the country to be stable, and the world to be peaceful.
In the long river of history, countless chivalrous people have promoted the progress of society with their righteous deeds. They may be hidden in the market or prominent in the court, but all of them put righteousness first and take the world as their responsibility. Their spirit has inspired generations of Chinese people to strive for the ideal of governing the country and bringing peace to the world by managing the family.
Today, we still need the righteousness of chivalry. In the process of modernization, social fairness and justice still need everyone to maintain. Each of us can become a chivalrous person, act righteously in the world, start from the family, and then influence the society, promote the progress of the country, and finally realize the ideal of universal peace.
The righteousness of chivalry and governing the country and bringing peace to the world by managing the family are not only the inheritance of history, but also our responsibility and mission today. Let us shoulder the responsibility of governing the country and bringing peace to the world with the spirit of a knight, and jointly create a better future.
In general, Tsui Hark's version of The Legend of the Condor Heroes shows the details and emotions of Jin Yong's original work, and still has his own distinctive style, especially the final game between Guo Jing and Ouyang Feng, which is very exciting and touching. The martial arts finally returned with the spirit of chivalrous and brave heroes. This spirit is not only needed in martial arts, but also in our era and this world. Such people are still needed to achieve and write.

this one is very long and goes into detail about some plot points so feel free to go to the source.
Maybe it’s because I’ve praised The Legend of the Condor Heroes too much. Now in the information cocoon of Weibo, Weibo keeps pushing reviews of The Legend of the Condor Heroes to me. They are all overwhelmingly criticizing Director Tsui Hark and Xiao Zhan, and some of them are very fierce.
As I said in my last Weibo post, the quality of this movie has nothing to do with Xiao Zhan. He is Director Tsui Hark’s graphic tool man, and he has fulfilled his duties as an actor. There is not much to criticize in his acting, lines, and actions. Perhaps the only thing that can be blamed on him is that he is not a martial arts actor. If he or the other two or three leading actors had martial arts skills, Director Tsui Hark might not have made this movie, which was promoted as a "martial arts", almost completely without decent martial arts scenes, only fantasy qigong scenes like in cartoons. But it’s not Xiao Zhan’s fault.
So is the quality of Director Tsui Hark’s screenwriting and directing so bad that he is trampled on like this? As a literary youth who has watched countless movies since childhood and a semi-professional novelist, from my appreciation point of view, this movie is indeed not well made. But it’s not that bad. At least my 2 hours of time was not completely wasted. At least 30 to 40 minutes were high-quality viewing time. But it requires more thinking to understand.
In this final climax, the overall logic is very good, and Xiao Zhan's facial expression when he spread his arms, and the lines in Mongolian and Chinese are also very good. The biggest failure is that Huang Rong should not stand beside him. Who is Huang Rong? What is her relationship with the opposing army? Is there any emotional connection of life and death? Nothing. It is unwise for Huang Rong to stand beside him, which greatly weakens the logic behind this contradictory confrontation and the shocking effect of the scene. In addition, it also greatly weakens the charm of Guo Jing as the protagonist in this decisive scene. I don’t know if this big failure is the decision of director Tsui Hark or because of some inexplicable reasons of the investors.

this is also very long but i will share the part about XZ and GJ.
After watching the movie with Jin Yong fans, I agreed that this version is quite innovative in shaping the character of Guo Jing compared to other versions, with less naivety and more maturity and perseverance. Xiao Zhan's interpretation of this version is sincere and decisive, and he became Guo Jing in the story in a rounded and non-sharp way.
I know a lot about the story, as an audience, I was not distracted for a minute during the movie. There was only the character of Guo Jing in the movie. What I still remember is Hua Zheng's description of Guo Jing: "You will know when you see him." Yes, you will definitely feel it when you see him in the movie world. Yes, this is Guo Jing. He is chivalrous and will never betray justice.
In addition, Xu Ge also respects female characters, and his favorite characters have always transcended the concept of gender. The adaptation of the rooftop confrontation between Huang Rong and Hua Zheng is very exciting. Female characters are no longer based on "who", but are more independent. My division is attacking in the south and will attack Xiangyang. I know that you are loyal to the country and risk your life to report it. I am sorry for your mother's tragic death, and I am ashamed to see you again. I have gone to the remote west to rely on my elder brother, and I will never set foot on my homeland again. May you take good care of yourself and live a long and happy life. The casting of Hua Zheng is extremely suitable for the free and easy and bloody nature of the grassland heroine that is highly summarized in the letter she gave to Guo Jing in the original work, which is very moving.

First of all, I am not a fan of Xiao Zhan. I started to pay attention to Xiao Zhan because of a little girl who came to my company for internship a few years ago.
Secondly, there were so many people watching the movie. I watched it in the Dolby Hall today, and except for the first two rows, it was basically full. When everyone was waiting to be seated, they actually lined up at the door of the theater. I haven't seen it for many years.
Thirdly, I give the movie 8 points. I feel that the plot can be fuller (I vaguely feel that it has been cut), and Huang Rong is a little bit worse, although I like the last shot of Huang Rong pulling Guo Jing up to make a protective posture, which perfectly reflects that "Guo Jing is Huang Rong's world".
The last point is the reason why I strongly recommend it:
as a generation that grew up reading Jin Yong's novels. This version of Guo Jing should be the Guo Jing in Mr. Jin Yong's mind.
In the novel, Guo Jing is the character that Genghis Khan's daughter loves but cannot get and never marries. He is the character that Huang Yaoshi's daughter, who is proficient in piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, falls in love with at first sight. He is the character that all upright masters are willing to teach their lifelong skills.

I watched The Legend of the Condor Heroes and here are 9 thoughts, some good and some bad. Please forgive me if I said something wrong:
1. The big scenes are quite good and magnificent, and must be praised.
2. Xiao Zhan is the most handsome Guo Jing in history, and his appearance is good, heroic and upright.
3. The greatest heroes protect the country and the people. Guo Jing rode alone to stop tens of thousands of Mongolian cavalry, and said to the Khan, "Heroes must have compassion..." This is Tsui Hark's public evaluation of heroes through the movie, which is very bold. If you don't see this, you underestimate Tsui Hark.
4. Hua Zheng's actor is well chosen, and everyone loves her. Guo Jing has no reason to refuse the marriage.
5. In the final battle, the Western Poison became a demon, and "martial arts" became "demon skills", which is a bit too much.
6. Huang Rong's spirit is gone, which makes people wonder how she can become the leader of the Beggars' Sect. But Zhuang's appearance is still okay.
7. There are more shots of Guo Jing's mother.
8. For some plots, such as the reunion of Guo Jing and Huang Rong, there is no need to go against the original work. Jin Yong wrote about the world of martial arts! It would be great to film it as it is, with lightning rods and dark rainy nights, which is so disgusting.
9. The old songs of The Legend of the Condor Heroes are very good, at least they set off a small part of the atmosphere and feelings. Classics cannot be surpassed, no matter how great the AI can be, which makes people feel gratified about the future of art in the AI era.

The first movie for this year's Spring Festival was the most popular "The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Greatest Hero". As a post-80s generation, I believe that many people, like me, have a strong obsession with The Condor Heroes, and also have their own images of Guo Jing and Huang Rong that suit them best. I was quite surprised that Xiao Zhan and Zhuang Dafei's interpretation of Huang Rong and Guo Jing exceeded my imagination. Guo Jing's persistence and honesty, and Huang Rong's eccentricity are all vividly portrayed on the screen.
The most moving part of the whole play is the handling of the conflict in the core plot, the national sentiment reflected by Guo Jing when he was faced with the choice between family affection and righteousness in the end, and his mother Li Ping's death in the face of national justice, all reflect the theme of the whole play - the greatest hero.
The ending of the story handles the plot between affection and righteousness very well, which is also a plus for this film

so uh. to answer some questions some of you probably have:
is ouroboros coming back soon?
ouroboros is put on hold for now. because of just a lack of motivation on that front and. this oc project. y'all can blame @dasnercaret /SILLY
so what the hell have you been doing for like six months?
literally single-mindedly devoting all of my creative energy to ocs. i have spent probably 100+ hours writing/drawing/talking about/thinking about these idiots. i sold my soul to the oc gods and they gifted me infinite motivation :) ....knock on wood
what is this about ocs?
This is a passion project shared by @biblicallyaccuratecrow, @dasnercaret, @scramblecat, and @aquakirb on tumblr. It's messy and it's so far disconnected from canon at this point that it's got it's own worldbuilding tab, but it's ours and we love it. There's not much in the way of an exact start to this mess (I, for instance, was a late addition and created this website to keep track of the insane amount of lore we were and still are churning out).
...can we see the ocs?
i compel you to look at the fruit of our labor. six months of staring at these blorbos until my eyes bleed means that I have a considerable stash of content for them, including but not limited to;
44 individual files in my procreate
Character and Dialogue Sprites (battle sprites in the works)
13 google doc files
Half of my sketchbook from 2024-2025
A compilation file (not updated to recent months works) that is currently at 86,966 words
A single google document dedicated to celest alone that has 109,277 words
a timeline consisting of a precanon, canon, and postcanon sections, each with individual arcs and branches
at least 8 AUs of our own fuckin characters. including a pokemon au, a college au, a vampire au, and a few bad end aus
17 individual playlists consisting of both character-based casual playlists and instrumental thematic tracks
a (private) lore compendium website that is regularly updated; includes character stats, Craft Skills, Equipment, Weapons, and several pages worth of worldbuilding related to Ka Bue
hundreds of hours of my lifespan
so! i'm gonna show you some of the stuff! that i've been doing! daily for hours on end! i cannot remember the last time i didnt at least think about these guys once a day! send help!
