Closed Starter: @ofginjxints Plot: Apocalypse AU for Sofia & Sloan. As discussed, they run into each other for the first time... and then things develop from there!

Since the world had been turned upside down, Sloan had made an effort to ensure his survival... on his own. In this environment, there was no trusting settlements. In his opinion, trusting other people had become entirely too difficult. Living on his own, dangerous and nearly impossible as it was, seemed almost a better bet than living under the corrupt rule of people who were also willing to do anything possible to ensure their own survival.

There had been plenty of times where Sloan had been grateful for his military training and background. When everything became chaotic, he was beyond grateful that he was capable of surviving, but he'd seen more horrible things than he'd seen his entire military career. That realization had been shocking, although he rarely had time to think about it.

At that moment he was scavenging traps he'd made to capture food, careful to move silently and keeping an eye on his surroundings. That was when he heard the faintest sound. A rustling that was just enough for him to be suspicious. The problem? He was not in a location where he could seek cover quickly. Turning to face the direction, he lifted his weapon, eyes searching for the culprit of the nearly indistinguishable sound, and his eyes landed on a woman. His initial instinct was to lower his weapon, to make her feel at ease in his presence, his survival instincts told him not to lower his guard.

"What brings you out this way?" He asked suspiciously.

Hey fanfiction writers: If no one's ever told you this before, it's not just fanfiction.

It's something you spent hours, days, maybe even months on, pouring your heart out onto a page because you were so full of passion and thoughts about a story or characters, you felt like you were going to explode if you didn't get it out. Maybe you lost sleep because your mind was racing with ideas or you forgot to eat or drink water because you were so focused. Maybe your back aches from being hunched over for so long, unmoving. Maybe you even felt like you were going a little feral because you were so excited about what you were creating, or were frustrated when you got stuck. Either way, you put your heart, mind, soul, and body into making something.

It's okay to want people to read it, and it's okay if you're disappointed that they don't or it doesn't get as much of a reaction as you were hoping for. Humans are social creatures. Sure, we write for ourselves, but we also share because the joy of doing so is just as powerful as the joy of the process. Of having created something.

We all experience that joy and that disappointment, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

So it's okay. It's not just fanfiction.

okay but WHYYY is no one talking about louis and daniel WHYYYYYYYYYY is no one talking about the greatest grandpa4grandpa relationship known to man and i don’t even mean romantically i mean in the most basic human platonic level their relationship is FASCINATING.

like louis SAUGHT HIM OUT after FIFTY YEARS he FOUND HIS BOY, this horrible infant who DID NOT UNDERSTAND A THING HE TOLD HIM, who saw his raw, decades-old pain and wanted in on it, AND HE GOES BACK FOR HIM BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE’S CHANGED. he can understand now. he can help him find the truth.

and like, they’re both absolutely terrified by each other because they’re both uniquely skilled at getting under each other’s skin and finding that truth (and also because… louis could just up and eat daniel anytime but shhhh…) and it’s because they UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER. louis’s interviewing daniel as much as daniel’s interviewing him, just. pulling teeth from each other’s head, trying to pull out all the rot with such violence and cruelty (from both of them!! daniel is a cockwallop!!) but they want to help each other they CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER.
