What is honor compared to a woman’s love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms… or the memory of a brother’s smile? Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy.
Jon Snow - and family that haunts him, because sometimes ghosts make for the best love stories.

The Pack Survives by @astolat.
My second bind had to be this Robb Stark centric masterpiece that has lived rent free in my brain since December 2023. I wanted to get this finished before the year anniversary hit in December.
I love this bind and she is my beloved second born but holy hell I’m glad she is done.
In all honesty, this bind was cursed from the off. Everything that could have gone wrong with this bind went wrong. I had to resew the signatures because wood oil, I made my design slightly too big so adding it to the cover was wonky and I melted parts of the black vinyl adding my silver vinyl to the book cloth to name but a few mistakes. I didn’t dare try to trim her edges, lord knows where I would have ended up.
All that said I’m still proud of her and wanted to share. Done is better than perfect and I hope I look back in a year and see how far I have truly come.
The Pack Survives can be read for free on AO3.

In the whole “what would the Starks do if Jon’s parentage ever came to light” debate, the most interesting figure to me is Robb Stark. Ned is already caught between a rock and a hard place: duty and love to both his king and his sister’s son, though he already committed treason once to save Lyanna’s boy. Catelyn the embodiment of the Tully words, “family, duty, honor”, is fiercely loyal to her husband and children - but not to Jon. So if she was ever put in a position to choose, it’s obvious what she would do. Then there’s Robb. He’s his father’s heir, his mother’s pride. He’s named after Robert Baratheon, the ruling king of the seven kingdoms, as a testament to his father’s upbringing and love for his friend. But Jon is his brother; his best friend; his greatest companion. Where Ned’s choice would leave him conflicted, Robb doesn’t share the same loyalty to the king. So when forced to fight for the crown or his brother’s life, he’d obviously choose his brother. Which would be an interesting twist of fate. Ned and Robert rebelled for their lives many years prior. How interesting it would be for the boy who bears Robert’s name and the boy who bears Ned’s face to rise in rebellion again.

People who don’t understand the Arya and Sansa sibling bond obviously didn’t have WWE style brawls in the middle of the living room floor with their sibling.
You can hate each other, say heinous things, full on battle until first blood.
But you’re still siblings,
all the Arya-antis and Sansa-antis are placing too much weight on the events of kings landing.

there is just no universe where catelyn likes jon i’m sorry. she knows about R+L=J? ned made traitors of her and her children, put jon’s safety above their’s and is now an even bigger threat to their lives. she hates him. Rhaegar wins and he’s prince jon? he’s still the product of the event that the entire country had to go to war for and probably got her father killed in the process. at the very least she resents him. maybe even hates him. modern au? he’s just the cousin with the teen mom that gets high with her son in the basement and sneaks arya razor blades or whatever. she hates him!

I cannot get over the fact that Emma D’arcy only had four lines in the whole first episode but still delivered such a profound emotional message. They portrayed a mother who has just lost a child, who is searching for what is left of him, and who is so defeated. It was gut wrenching seeing Rhaenyra finally finding some sort of remains from her child. Losing a child is the most brutal loss a mother can go through and Emma represented that perfectly.
No words, just pure emotion and talent. It had me crying like a baby over a fictional story. But I have seen these emotions from mothers in my life. That is the reason why I think they did a perfect job at it. I love you Emma D’arcy.

“Yet when the jousting began, the day belonged to Rhaegar Targaryen. The crown prince wore the armor he would die in: gleaming black plate with the three-headed dragon of his House wrought in rubies on the breast. A plume of scarlet silk streamed behind him when he rode, and it seemed no lance could touch him. Brandon fell to him…” —A Game of Thrones

The amount of hate Tyrion gets in the fandom is so over the top. The way book Tyrion specifically is spoken about will often have me wondering if these people have actually read the books or just skimmed the wiki or are just repeating what they heard others say.
The idea that Tyrion is just a villain and evil is ridiculous. He certainly isn't a saint but people exaggerate how bad he is to an insane degree. It's so hyperbolic at times that with absolutely no book knowledge you'd think he’s another Joffrey or something. There's barely any empathy shown towards his character and it's very clear the fandom holds him to a higher standard then they do the other characters and are more likely to criticize him for things they're quick to praise, show sympathy or just love other characters for.
This often leads to them either inadvertently or outright validating Cersei and even Tywin’s treatment of him.
More than once I've seen people in this fandom saying that Cersei had good reason to hate Tyrion and call him a monster or that she and Tywin were right about him all along. It's abuse apologia plain and simple; Tyrion is not pure and perfect so they don't acknowledge him as a victim and instead see his abuse as justifiable. The thing is, there is only ONE reason Cersei calls Tyrion a monster and you know what it is. She has been calling him that since he was a baby for that very reason and has been abusing him since then as well but people act as if she is the real victim in it all. It's like they forget that he's a disabled character who faces constant discrimination and dehumanization even at the hands of his own family.
Of course Tyrion wants her dead, it's no surprise. Of course he wants revenge and wants every person who’s ever hurt him to burn, but every other character is allowed to hate their abusers and want them dead or want to make them suffer or kill them. They can have all the revenge they desire, but Tyrion is not allowed the same. The bias here is so blatant and there are also the ones who bring up his misogyny while they stan characters that are just as misogynistic as he is or even more so. There's no consistency.
Tyrion is one of the most interesting and complex characters and it sucks to see him reduced to just some evil guy especially because this is the very thing the books critique but it completely flies over their heads and they just do the exact thing that is being criticized. At the end of the day it's mostly ableism at play and it's not even subtle.
