I made a short video on what it looks like to use a charged attack + dodge cancel (or animation cancel) with text showing which buttons are pressed for people who know claymore is supposed to be the strongest weapon but can't understand why or how to use it cause it seems so slow.

This is just a video to show you the idea of holding attack for a charged attack, and then dodging immediately once the blow lands, AND once you dodge you see the precise momentum ring and go again into a charged attack. It also shows what it looks like to use an active skill both after a charged attach and BEFORE a charge attack is pulled off so you can save time here and there. one thing i completely forgot to mention (talk about fish brain) is attack animation cancellation, it's when you hit dash after an attack animation is done to avoid delaying your next attack.

but i tried to be as precise as possible, showing how examples of how to stack MC's passive "gathering", when to use the "frangere slash" as well as how while stacking "gathering" can possibly make you flip and interrupt your enemy's attack towards you or whoever its target is.

please remember though, i'm honestly not a pro at this. this is just something i've come to learn and got used to and it works for me (even when i do deepspace trials with very underleveled/lv1 cards for zayne and xavier) although, i have to say that protocores definitely play a HUGE part with your damage output and survivability.

so yeah, definitely hit the training ground and refresh claymore tutorial, get familiar with stacking gathering (timing the basic attack is essential and sometimes i miss the right timing to get that last—3rd—stack), get a feel for the weapon, i know it'll feel heavy and hella slow, but when you get the hang of it, its damage output really outweighs the speed, clearly still a DPS at its finest.

attack animation cancellation will definitely help allow MC to get more hits in as well.

First fight made use of 2 oaths. At the start, dash to the left side of the arena, bonk the flying mob towards the right before hitting resonance. Keep finding opportunities to use resonance while they're grouped. Second fight is the same golem as core hunts 9 and 10. Made use of Isa's findings on how to bypass golem's furious state.

During this time, fellow Hunter Isa along with help from other Hunters figured out how to interrupt Petro Golem's furious state. Furious state raises Petro Golem's defenses by quite a bit. Unfortunately, as of game version 2.0, this method no longer works. The best you can do is delay the furious state.

okay actually I'm not done with the claymore hate

I hate this weapon partially because they forced me to use it in that one stage with Xavier. Its whole thing is slower attack speed + less AoE coverage in exchange for Hitting Harder and imo at this point it's just Not Worth It.

Ofc it doesn't have the benefits of the ranged weapons and I don't expect it to given its weapon type but the Hunter's Sword for me is just so much better, mostly because of its ability to close distances and its more forgiving with dodging because of its faster attack speed which doesn't trap you in animation for as long.

Sure part of it is probably because the claymore has a higher skill ceiling being a weapon that outputs more damage, they probably expect you to do Perfect Dodges to really milk this weapon but that's easier said than done. The screen can easily turn to chaos with all the Wanderers and their attacks, not to mention Wanderers off-camera hitting you when you can't see them. It encourages using a weapon that gives you distance like the ranged weapons so you have a better view of the field or the Hunter's Sword where the quicker attack speed means yes less damage per hit but your Hunter is more responsive.

There's also how positioning is more important in the battles when using the close range weapons. Obviously, because you have to get close to do damage with them and the claymore just doesn't have the decent positioning options the Hunter's Sword does. With the Hunter's Sword you can immediately close distance with your Active Skill and also reposition easily when the enemies are out of frame because it gravitates your attack towards the nearest one. Claymore has the rely exclusively on your dodge (it's less a dodge and more of a dash lets be honest) to close distances for it (a real bitch when the Wanderer has a charge attack and so on) and the dodge doesn't have the lock-on the Hunter's Sword Active Skill does so you're liable to get caught on a Wanderer or a wall.

I decided to try love and deepspace because of all the ads and I saw people posting art of the boys on here and after my phone successfully downloaded all the assets without imploding, I laughed my ass off when I realized the combat in this game was hack and slash.

Something about it was so funny because all the ads were like "Hey yea you can date these virtual 3D men who are fully animated and their voices are constant asmr and you can poke them around and go on dates ✧⁠◝⁠(⁠⁰⁠▿⁠⁰⁠)⁠◜⁠✧"

And not once did they mention that you have to fight dragons and have to build like, at least 72 cards to make sure you have all your bases covered so your perfectionist heart can defeat enemies within the time limit even though that's absolutely not a necessity. (You can auto clear resource stages even w/o 3-staring it first which is a first for me tbh)

Like this is the closest thing they get to telling you they have combat. It's this one shot from their play store page

And it does not convey the level of button mashing you can do in this game. I fucking love it.

Also you can get a new battle outfit for your mans if you get 6 4-star cards of him and if you're short one or two, just buy it in the wishing well store using the gacha shards you get after every pull. Don't be dumb like me and spend it all on more gacha pulls and gamble for them instead.

Alright, I'm done sleeping on these freaking Hunter Firearms. It's literally been 4 days of trying to beat stage 30 of the open trials and all I had to do was drop my pride and break them out again?? That's 3 times now that they've helped me win a battle I've lost 20+ times.... Wth.

"I'M GOING TO BEAT STAGE 30 OF THE OPEN ORBIT TRIAL!!!", she says confidently.

She in fact, did not beat it. Time ran out with the Wyrmlords HP bar at .000001% remaining, and the game didn't want to be nice and give her the win.

Sylus doesn’t immediately enter the ring when you go to train today. Instead, you watch as he goes to a weapon rack against the wall and grabs out a couple of knives. He’s smirking at your wide-eyed look as he holds one by the blade for you to take.

“We’re using knives today?” You take it and turn it over in your hand. It feels strange in your grip. You’d trained with guns, swords, claymores, even with a bow, but never had you dealt with a knife like this. The blade gleams threateningly in the overhead lighting.

“Not everyone is going to try shooting you in a tough situation,” he says. He lifts the rope and climbs onto the stage. You follow behind. “If, say, a mugger tries to threaten you and steal your money, you should know how to defend yourself.”

He holds his hands up in a fighting stance. You quirk an eyebrow at him. “Shouldn’t you be teaching me how to disarm first, if that’s your concern?”

He smirks. “A kitten should know how to use its claws first.”

You frown as you mimic his stance. It’s the same one used for the boxing regime he put you through, only altered by your hold on the knife.

“Try to stab me.”

You huff. You know you won’t be able to, but the idea of drawing blood with these is… unsettling, at best. Your only solace is found in the knowledge that he can heal himself.

You try to slash at his arm, but he steps to the side and pushes your wrist away, creating an opening to strike at your chest. His knife stops before it can pierce you, resting sideways against your stomach, with the flat side against your workout shirt.

“Not bad, kitten. Follow through every motion. If your knife gets stuck because you don’t keep up the momentum, you’ll be vulnerable to attacks until you get it back.”

The subsequent training sessions go much the same way. He deflects or avoids your attack, taps you where you’d be hit in such an instance, and gives you advice. You manage to get a cut or two in, but he wipes the blood away and the mark is gone entirely. When you do, he’s quick to praise you, pushing aside how shitty it makes you feel in favor of encouraging you to catch him again.

The next day, he grabs the knives again. “You did well yesterday, kitten. Let’s up the stakes, shall we?” He plays with the knife in his hand as you get up on the stage. “No more training wheels. A real sparring match.”

You look down over the ropes at him like he’s crazy. “First person stabbed loses?”

“What’s the matter?” He walks up to the ropes, smirking up at you with a wicked gleam in his eye. “Afraid of getting scratched?”

You narrow your eyes at him. “How about first person to get pinned down loses? Our internal organs are at less personal risk that way.”

He chuckles. “Alright, I accept.”

The fight isn’t easy. You both land blows on each other, punching and slicing to defend and take down. Your arms mirror his, covered in knicks and cuts. You have a cut on your right cheek, where you’d stabbed him during your first encounter with the big boss of the N109 Zone.

It’s like a dance. You strike, he blocks. He strikes, you dodge. Blood litters the floor. Glittering little droplets that smear as you step over them. A captivating waltz of blades and blood. He could easily overpower you and force you to the ground, but it’s like he’s toying with you, playing a game to see if you can figure out how to use his weak spots against him. And you’re determined to win.

You strike and he grabs your arm, using the momentum to swing it back at you. You block it with your other arm, both of your faces close as you try to keep the knife away from your neck.

You shove against him hard, enough to create a small gap. You hook your ankle around his and pull his leg out from under him, almost turning his body into a lever, with his core as the fulcrum. He doesn’t let go of you as he falls back onto the ground.

Heavy panting fills the air as the dance comes to a still. You straddle his hips, leaning over him as you pin his shoulder to the ground. Both of your blades are against the other’s throat. You can feel the cold steel brush against your flushed skin, the sharp edge teasing the idea of breaking flesh as you swallow.

He smiles up at you, but his eyes can’t seem to stay on yours for long. They trail along your cheek, watching the blood that drips down to your jaw. His hand gently ghosts the edge of the knife along your skin to catch the stray drop. Then his eyes find their way to your mouth. They’re hypnotized by your parted lips as you try to catch your breath.

His knife leaves your skin. It clatters to the side. But you feel his hand as he drags it along your bleeding arm to hold your wrist, keeping you from removing the blade from his own throat. You can feel your weight shift as he flips you, kneeling between your legs with the knife still held against his neck. His other hand is by your head, holding himself up.

He leans down against the knife. You try to pull it away, but his hand tightens slightly around your wrist, keeping it in place. His face is mere centimeters away. You can feel his breath ghosting your face as you stare up at him.

“So close, kitten…” he whispers. His lips hover just above yours. Your breath hitches in your throat. He smirks. “We didn’t agree on a prize for the winner… but I think you’ll agree to these terms.”

He kisses you deeply, nose pressing against your cheek as he claims his prize. The knife sinks into the skin at his neck. A rivulet of blood slides down the flat of the blade and drips against your skin. You gasp at the sensation as the droplets slither down the side of your neck, leaving chills in its wake.

Sylus swallows the sound eagerly, growling into your mouth in return as he finally releases your wrist. The knife clatters to the side as carelessly with the other one. You grab the back of his neck and pull him in closer. Still holding himself up, his free hand finds yours and interlaces your fingers together against the floor.

When it feels like you can’t breathe anymore, like all the air from your lungs has been sucked out and your ribs ache, he begins kissing along your cheek. You hiss when his lips seek out the cut. He follows the old trail of blood to your jaw, lips becoming pink as he kisses it away.

You tilt your chin up by pure instinct as he moves lower, kissing along the right side of your neck, before making his way to the left side. His hot tongue glides suddenly along your throat, cleaning his blood off of you. When he speaks, it’s with his lips pressed to your skin.

“Let’s get you cleaned up, sweetie.”

I understand the appeal of characters like Zayne who appear cold n aloof but are big softies who care alot. He's a perfect blend of tsun and dere.

Meanwhile Rafayel may seem flirty and playful but one touch and he'll be a gooey puddle in your arms. He's such a babygirl!

I've liked him since Day 1 of playing and that won't change..

See Xavier comes off as a sweetie pookie upon first glance (which he still is!).

But as you play further you realise Xavier is what one calls "Gap Moe" or Gap-saicin in korean? (used for BTS Jimin)..or literally just King of Duality.

For example: a tiny girl with a giant claymore weapon or a beefy man running a small flower shop or a quite gentle person being the strongest fighter in an anime, etc..

Xavier's personality is so dual. He'll let you hold the reigns, thinking you're in control but the next moment he'll do or say something that'll make you realise he's been in charge all along 🤭

And he'll forever be in charge of my heart ♡

definitely get familiar with stacking gathering

it does lovely dmg when you break enemy's shield

i honestly spam charged attack because it just does more damage, but also while doing basic attacks when stacking gathering, i usually get the enemies flying or flipped backwards to interrupt attacking you LMFAO

if you want, i can make a little vid to demonstrate it better later.

but that's pretty much it

honing the charged attacks, timing basic attacks to trigger gathering 3 times, save it for when the enemy is weakened/shields down.

Notes for Round 4: - Team A: Crit build. 3s over, fairly relaxed clear. 2:25 on the timer for golem start. - Team B: Hybrid build. 10s over but it was on an especially good run where wave 1 ended at 2:14 (usually ends at 2:04 or even lower), giving me a lot of time for wave 2. Most of the runs I was 1-3s short from 3 medals and much butt clenching and cursing was had. - Team C: Dmg to weak build. I didn't peep the timer at the end, but I had 2:13 on the timer for golem start. Team B was the hardest for me. Between CA and AB, I found AB to be easier because of how he pulls enemies together. I was focusing a lot on keeping them all grouped, trying to kill 1 enemy ASAP in wave 1 so it spawns the shielded dog faster, hopefully fast enough that the dog gets included in my second resonance which enables me to deal more damage to it. Lots of praying that the dogs behave and don't backstep too far away from the rest of the group.

Hi, could you please tell us about your weapon preferences when it comes to battles? Ik sometimes it depends on the wanderer type or the battle type ( the scanning thing/ single target etc). Sometimes it also depends on LIs ig

ooo it sounds like you already have a good understanding the combat mode, nonnie! If I had to give you the TL;DR answer of my personal weapon preference it would be anything ranged - so guns or wands. I'm really bad with melee/close combat in any game I play... however more often than not, in order to clear high level orbit stages, you'll seeing me use the claymore since its charged attack deals heavy damage to Wanderers. If I had to use a melee weapon it would only be the Hunter Claymore.

You can use all of the Hunter weapons (Sword, Wand, Claymore, and Firearm) with all of the love interests. However, like you said it also depends on the companion you're using! So I'll break it down even further. The ones in color are their Myths stellactrum.

I'm biased towards wands/staff weapons because I mostly play mage/caster classes/jobs in other video games. For non-myth companions I prefer using the hunter wand over the hunter firearms because it does AoE damage on multiple wanderers instead of single target. It saves me some time, yanno? Also if I know it's just one final boss in a fight I would choose a claymore to deal more damage in my charged attack.

I also have that setting checked where my weapon and outfit will automatically match with whichever companion I'm using, so that varies. I usually go in with whatever there on default when challenging a new stage. Depending on how my fight is going I may or may not switch out of it to use a hunter claymore instead. There have been so many instances where the claymore has hard carried me to a clear...
