Going over a bit of my headcanons on Mudwing life. I donât care that the guidebook is coming out in a few months just to dump on lore, the books have been out over a decade and Tui is doing that NOW? Basic lore and information on the world building shouldâve already been established at this point itâs been 15 BOOKS already!! Literally my biggest critic on the books as a whole, there IS world building but we only ever see it for specific tribes like Nights and Seas, we donât even know what Moorhenâs palace looks like.
Anyways, hereâs my take on Mudwings <3
Up first is the scenery/landscape. We already know itâs swamps and marshes, but the graphic novels make it look like a sad wasteland for some reason?? Iâve been to places like Louisiana, itâs nothing like that at all. Itâs a lot more like a wet forest, trees and muddy water everywhere. Flowers are also quite abundant too, like water lilies and wisteria!! Some of the fauna that lives here could be such like crocodiles, frogs, waterbirds, TONS of fish and bugs. I imagine the deeper you go into the kingdom and villages, you start to see more bridges, gazebos, wells, and more such as that. Or in other words; lots of swampy fairycore vibes here
Next is the kingdom/residence. We donât really see much of that, but we get the idea that they live in mud columns and such, but that was only seen in the outskirts of the kingdom. I imagine the kingdom having elements of the country side of England or places like the Netherlands or Ireland. Lots of overgrown buildings but still looking quite rustic, the nearby swamps may have the appearances of lakes as well while you pass by on bridges. While the pictures do show normal houses, I imagine there being homes deep within the forest that do show off that âovergrownâ look like being a large tree stump or simply an overgrown hole. Some of the low class Mudwings will usually take in these homes
Now Moorhenâs palace. Once again, lots of English vibes here since thatâs how I imagine the tribe to appear. The inside of the palace is very elegant and well structured with small ponds to dehydrate in. Itâs also quite floral with lots of plants, but not to the point where itâs so messy and cluttered. Moorhen I feel would be very fond of collecting antique items such as fancy tea sets, rustic furniture, and even jewelry. I also think Moorhenâs choice of jewelry style is anything rose gold, so naturally most of the wealthiest Mudwings will be adorned in rose gold. (I imagine a dragonâs attire and style varies depending on their queen!)
There you have it! I plan to make other stuff like this for the other tribes as well. Hope you enjoyed it :)
psst, hereâs a Spotify playlist for songs that I feel would be played throughout the kingdom. Very vintage type music from the 40s and 50s

The Rougarou
Remus Lupin/Sirius Black | M | 9.7k | After the end of the first war, Remus Lupin seeks some kind of new life in New Orleans. He finds it.
In the mosquito-song of morning, without the din of bass and customers and Order up! from Ish, bad thoughts bubbled up like groundwater from the cracks in the street: the little varnished wood box that held only a finger. Peter's dad ripping up the hymnal.  Stop it, Remus would say to himself.  Autumn drizzle like spit in the graves.  Just stop. Getting in bed, pulling the sheets over his face, steaming in the heat of his own breath.  Too drunk to stand, somehow too drunk even to cry. Two married slots in the ground. The itchy suit he'd borrowed from his father. Two babies fussing in the black pramâcraning his neck to see Harry, then shrinking back in shame. The sour look on Lily's sister. The stone look on Dumbledore: how had it happened? How could we let it happen?  He'd try to put himself to sleep, but once he'd started his mind wouldn't let him stop, and sooner or later he'd think about the worst thing, the thing that felt like a crime:  Even in June it must be freezing in the North Sea.

some notes on this fic under the cut
first, i just want to acknowledge that i'm writing about New Orleans as someone who's never lived there, and i apologize unreservedly for anything i got wrong. i love the city and i've spent a lot of time there, but ultimately i'm just a tourist.
folklore
the rougarou is a cryptid in Cajun and MĂŠtis folklore, often depicted as a creature with a human body and the head of a dog or a wolf. the name is a cajunization of "loup-garou." the rougarou may be a syncretization of the French loup-garou legend and indigenous concepts of humanlike shapeshifters, like the Wendigo. In some iterations of the Wendigo legend, a person can be cursed with insatiable hunger and greed and cravings for human flesh after committing an act of cannibalism or violence. stories of the rougarou in Louisiana were a cautionary tale for children and sometimes represented a consequence of breaking lent. the rougarou also happens to feature in the Harry Potter universe, which is convenient for me.
the feu-follet is a ghost-light, similar to the will-o'-the-wisp, said to appear in the swamps of the Mississippi delta; traditionally held to be the souls of unbaptized babies
the French Quarter ghosts - years ago in the FQ we used to see real estate signs advertising houses and apartments for sale as Haunted or Not Haunted which i always thought was pretty cool. the ghosts generally aren't representative of any specific historical figures or events, except for one, sort ofâi'll let you figure out which if you care to.
locations
Monsieur's is made up, obviously, but most other locations mentioned by name are real and were operating in 1982. CafĂŠ Lafitte In Exile, Verti Marte, CafĂŠ du Monde and The Apple Barrel are still around, but Charlene's and Las Pierres (which were actually de facto segregated in the way the fic describes) are now closed.
i made a little mapâi'm not an artist, but i enjoy maps, like, a weird amountâof some of the locations in the fic.
New Orleans has been a center of queer culture in the South for a really long timeâgay social clubs and carnival krewes have existed there since as early as the 40s, and CafĂŠ Lafitte, which opened in 1933 (in its current location since 1953) is one of the oldest gay bars in America. i was really excited to find a book on CafĂŠ Lafitte and its place in New Orleans queer history called In Exile: The History and Lore Surrounding New Orleans Gay Culture and Its Oldest Gay Bar by Frank Perez and Jeffrey Palmquist , two bartenders who worked there in the 80s and 90s. other than the obvious thematic connections in outlaws and exile, CafĂŠ Lafitte is one of the couple of places that were around back then that i've actually been inside and could hope to describe with some accuracy.
other resources on queer history in New Orleans:
The LGBT+ Archives Project of Louisiana
Last Call NOLA, a queer and trans art & archival collective who host a podcast series on vanishing NOLA gay bars and other queer spaces - episodes 3.2 and 3.3 are about Charlene's and Las Pierres
music
for this fic we're gonna roll with the PoA movie canon that Lupin's a big ol' vinyl dork who likes vaguely-jazzy big band music ok
Will You Love Me Tomorrow by The Shirelles - The Shirelles were a girl group in the late 50s and early 60s - i imagine Ish, somewhere in her 40s in this story, might have listened to them as a teenager. they were an early example of an all-Black band who found success with white audiences during the civil rights era, and they cultivated a "naive schoolgirl" sound and aesthetic that helped them get away with some relatively edgy-for-the-time sexual subtext in their songs. Will You Love Me Tomorrow was banned from radio in parts of the US - the lyrics address a lover before a tryst: tonight the light of love is in your eyes/but will you love me tomorrow?
The Stargazers - a UK pop group from the mid-50s. i'll be honest, this choice was mainly based on that name and some irresistibly appropriate song titles, but here's my excuse: their arrangements are heavy on tinkling piano and brass, and they collaborated with jazz-influenced British bandleader Syd Dean, so we're gonna go with the headcanon that young Remus got a taste for jazz through the pop groups of Hope's girlhood, many of which were covering (or just ripping off) American jazz & R&B artists at the time.
Junco Player by James Booker - "the Bayou Maharaja." A New Orleans-born jazz and R&B pianist, who led the house band at the Maple Leaf Bar in Carrollton (across town from where Lupin lives in this story) in the late 70s and early 80s. He was better known in Europe than in the US during the time Lupin would have been in his late teens, so if Lupin was a big jazz nerd he might have heard of him. Booker was openly gay and sometimes described as the "Black Liberace" due to his flamboyant style; he was also troubled and chronically ill, having been hit by an ambulance as a child and left with one working eye, a limp, chronic pain and a morphine addiction. He died shortly after the timeline of this fic.
image from the Times-Picayune archives, photographer uncredited
Heart of Glass by Blondie - this is honestly just how it happened in the scene in my head, and it's obviously kind of on-the-nose, but I really think some disco-y pop, at that moment, would feel like a sign to Lupin that the city isn't going to give him what he wants and he doesn't belong there.
thanks for reading!

New Demigod Cabin: Antheia
Antheia is a minor goddess of flower wreaths, blossoms, gardens and love as well as vegetation, marshes and swamps. As a flowery goddess of beauty and love she's naturally one of Aphrodite's attendants and is sometimes considered to be one of the Charites. Golden colored natural things like honey, myrrh, and amber are associated with her. In ancient times her center of worship was on the island of Crete, and in the present day she often spends time in the Everglades and the Louisiana bayous and other wetlands. As a result, her demigod children are often from the South and can usually speak Spanish or French dialects in addition to English.
The cabin is green with various swamp creatures painted on the outside, flower garlands around the windows, and an especially intricate wreath on the door. Inside there are pots of water filled with swamp plants, and the air always has a floral scent. The fabrics and floor are decorated with lotus, water lily, and cattail motifs. Flower garlands hang from the ceiling, and personalized wreaths hang above each bed. There is a pet flamingo named Florianus who lives outside the cabin and can communicate with its inhabitants.
When Antheia claims her children, a floral wreath symbol appears above their head, which then bursts into a cloud of flower petals. Demigod children of Antheia are often blond and always have amber colored eyes. The cabin's counselor wears a golden necklace decorated with alligator teeth. They love citrus drinks and iced tea as well as Cajun and Caribbean food. They're very attractive and charming and enjoy wearing gold jewelry. However, they're less vain than other children of love/beauty deities and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty due to their connection to swamps. Antheia's children tend to be artsy and creative and are good gardeners. They also tend to be avid environmentalists and conservationists and nature photography is often a hobby. They enjoy visiting New Orleans for Mardi Gras. They get along well with children of other love or nature deities. They often make wreaths to decorate for holidays or to donate to cemeteries for Veteran's Day.
Antheia's children have some healing ability due to their knowledge of plants and herbs. If they're fighting and there are many flowering plants nearby, the demigods can use the pollen to mess with their foes. They're resistant to mosquitoes and can send clouds of them to attack opponents, as well as summon nearby swamp creatures. These demigods can also control any nearby mud in various ways to attack opponents, but swamp mud is especially strong.
A child of Antheia can enter any building that has a wreath hanging on the front door. This only works if the wreath was placed there by an owner of inhabitant of the building. In modern times the practice of honoring the dead with wreaths at their tombs has allowed Antheia to slowly develop a weak connection to the dead. Her children can't summon the dead, but if they visit a grave of someone whose tombstone has a wreath or floral decoration carved on it then they can speak with the person's spirit, though they can't see it.
Historical Demigods/Legacies: Daniel Seghers, Ernest F. Coe, Marianne Celeste Dragon, Ricou Browining
Cabin Members: Fleur and Toussaint Desrosiers, Lucy Holland, Lily Kranz, Louis Sallis

The Southern Swamps
By Russell A. GravesÂ
I'll admit: Creeping through the Government Ditch of Caddo Lake in the pre-dawn blackness with only the bow lights illuminating the moss-draped cypress trees is an otherworldly experience. The ditch is a straight-as-an-arrow shortcut dredged by the federal government in the 1870s. It was carved through the swamp for steamboat traffic from New Orleans to service, what was then, the second business port in Texas over in the town of Jefferson. Giant, side wheel freighters would bring passengers and goods up the Big Cypress Bayou and, in return, haul out timber and cotton bales to the markets back East. Before the ditch, steamships would have to lumber around a big oxbow in the bayou to reach their destination. The ditch solved all of that. It created a channel by which the ships could cut miles from their journey traveling the Big Cypress.
Over time, bald cypress trees grew along the margin, and 150 years later, they arch over the ditch and create a tree tunnel in which we pass and await the coming sunrise. In a way, this place is spooky. It's no wonder that this legendary swamp is home to legends of bigfoot, ghosts, and other paranormal anomalies. Not far from here in 1869, the steamship Mittie Stephens ran aground after a spark ignited a cargo of hay carried aboard. In all, 61 of her passengers perished in the blaze. And over in Jefferson, bigfoot enthusiasts hold an annual conference and compare notes on their field findings. Caddo Lake wreaks of mystery.
The origins of the lake are somewhat unclear. Undoubtedly, the area's been a bit swampy for the past half-millennia as immense trees dot the area. Dendrologists confirm the age of these giants. With dense, wet, and barely fertile soils, bald cypress can find a niche to grow. Therefore, these flooded lowlands provide the perfect place for them to take root. This area is the largest bald cypress forest in the state and, as some suggest, worldwide. The tree is a bit of an anomaly. It's a deciduous conifer. That means the tree grows needles and cones like common conifers, but unlike trees like spruce or pine, the bald cypress loses its needles each fall. Its propensity to be among the first trees of the season to defoliate gives the tree its "bald" moniker.
From the banks, Caddo Lake doesn't look all that big since there is not a vast, sprawling body of water. Instead it exists as a giant swamp with backwater sloughs that wind in and out of the giant cypress trees that stand draped in Spanish moss. In all, 25,400 acres of big and mysterious swamplands straddle the Texas/Louisiana border. The lake takes its name from the indigenous Caddo Indian tribes who once inhabited the area.
Overall the lake is shallow and is only 20 feet at the deepest. Much of it, though, is shallow enough for trees to crowd the water. There are some areas of significant open water. Still, many of those places have a carpet of lily pads and other aquatic vegetation that stretch for hundreds of yards. In fact, 60% of the lake is covered in aquatic vegetation.
This place is so unique it is recognized as an internationally protected wetland. The lake is also the second-largest natural lake in the south and the largest (and one of the few) natural lakes in Texas.
While theories vary, most scientists think the lake formed gradually over time - probably due to a giant log jam on the Red River known as the Great Raft. Some geologists, however, corroborate the Caddo Indian legend that says the lake was formed by the 1812 New Madrid, Missouri earthquake. It is postulated that when the earthquake occurred, the earth's crust shifting created a basin filled with water from the Red River. In 1913, ecologist Lionel Janes examined cross-sections of cypress and hardwood trees. He estimated that the lake formed between 1770 and 1780.
The lake remained largely undeveloped until the mid-19th century when steamboat traffic picked up in the area and served the various villages on the lake. Bayous were dredged to provide steamer service that brought goods to and from the Red River and, eventually, down to the Port of New Orleans. Since cotton was king in the Old South, cotton trade routes were established through the lake.
While some villages no longer exist, you can take a glimpse back in history by visiting nearby Jefferson, Texas, which offers numerous Civil War-era structures and bayou tours that retrace the old steamboat routes.
Today, big chunks of Caddo Lake are largely conserved through agreements with The Nature Conservancy and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. On the Louisiana side, a dam was built in the 1970s to help maintain the wetland's water levels and control flooding in the entire basin.
What's left is natural splendor. Each morning is something to be discovered anew. Location names are as colorful as the rust-red cypress needles within the lake proper. Carter Lake, Whangdoodle Pass, Alligator Bayou, and The Hog Wallow are all specific place names within the lake and is its own scene. Each moss-draped tree is a different character within the broader day-in-day-out natural drama that's unfolded for centuries. It's a boon for outdoor photographers.
Each day we'd venture out on a pontoon boat to explore the nuances of the swamps. Blue herons and white egrets hide amongst the cypress knees and sit motionless while they wait for an unsuspecting fish to swim past. The scenes are a mixture of big sky sunrises and careful studies of individual tree limbs. Therefore, an entire photographic lens repertoire is in order. It's an unconventional landscape shoot, but Caddo Lake challenges the traditional notions of what a landscape shoot looks like: grand mountains shot with a wide angle lens, foreground objects, edge control, etc. In the southern swamps, the rules of traditional landscape photography fly out the door. Intentional camera movement, multiple exposures, and long lens landscapes are all in order.Â
The southern swamps is also a place where you learn about rural Texas culture. We even visited one of the oldest country stores in Texas. The Jonesville store is a vestige of what tiny town mercantile used to be and is full of photographic surprises. Down the road, we eat a couple of meals at Bear Creek Smokehouse. Barbecue is an iconic Texas food and this place epitomizes the low and slow method of pit cooking brisket and sausage.Â
Each photographer's soul (and belly and memory card) is satiated by the trip's end. Adorned by unconventional beauty, the swamps and the people who call it home have a way of creeping into your own subconscious. Long after we're gone, these swamps will abide - ready to beckon a new batch of intrepid explorers.

Misty Day | American Horror Story | Modern, Slice of Life, Horror
Misty Day is a witch with extraordinary gifts who lived alone in a swamp before being brought into Miss Robichauxâs Academy. She is a character in American Horror Story portrayed by Lily Rabe. She possesses the gift of resurgence: the magical ability to bring souls back from the dead. Misty Day is a character originally from American Horror Story: Coven and later Apocalypse.
HISTORY
Misty Day is a young witch with blonde hair and ethereal looks. She is a lonely, eccentric woman, who meanders the swamps of New Orleans, looking for a group to call her own. In tune with nature, she takes great offense to those who disrespect it and will punish them severely. This is shown when she uses her gift to bring two alligators back to life so they can kill the two poachers. Misty also seems to have a fear of abandonment, showing panic when Zoe Benson said she had to leave both times (the second time with Kyle Spencer).
"You think Iâm stupid because of where I came from. Well, Iâm not so easily bought, and I ainât that easily fooled."
She spends most of her time meditating, tending to her gardens, and listening to Stevie Nicks. She may also be a Christian and a very spiritual woman, as she was seen attending a church group[5] and she was deeply focusing on the cross in Joan Ramseyâs house.[6] Before killing two poachers, she asked why they think God would let them destroy his creations.
Skills & Abilities
Misty is a powerful natural born witch who is shown to have mastered four of the Seven Wonders.
Skills
Potioncraft - Affinity for extensive knowledge of "Green Magic," including conventional herbalism as well as more sophisticated botanical science and potion brewing.
Louisiana Swamp Mud - Misty healed her wounded flesh as well as Kyle, Madison, and Myrtle after they sustained several degrees of damage to their bodies, in juncture to her primary power.
Spellcraft - Misty Day has an affinity for performing rituals.
White Spirit Light - Misty is able to surround herself with the "white spirit light" that protects her from malevolent and dark spirits.
Plant Revival Spell - A spell to make plants grow faster.
Abilities
Telekinesis - One of the Seven Wonders, the magical ability to move objects and persons with her mind. Misty demonstrated this power during the fight between the witches and the Axeman and during the trials in the Test of the Seven Wonders.
Concilium - One of the Seven Wonders, the magical ability to control other people's minds and actions, including animals. She proved this ability when she controls the minds of the dogs who are about eat Myrtle's burnt corpse, men at a cemetery, and Queenie during The Tests of the Seven Wonders.
Transmutation - One of the Seven Wonders, the magical ability to move instantaneously from one place to another without physically occupying the space in between.
Divination - One of the Seven Wonders, the magical ability to obtain information through magical intuition.
Magic Sensing - The magical ability to sense another witch's magic. Misty Day sensed Zoe's magic calling to her after Zoe Benson and Madison resurrected Kyle. She also sensed Stevie Nicks's magic through the lyrics of Rhiannon.
Evil Sensing - The magical ability to sense evil like a perfume. Misty claimed that she can sense evil ever since she was a child, smelling it like a perfume. She once told Cordelia about this ability when she came back from hell, fetched by Michael Langdon. She also mentioned earlier that she got really bad vibes from the Academy to Zoe and that it is something foul in the house, referring to the Axeman.
Descensum (incomplete) - One of the Seven Wonders, the magical ability to project into the nether worlds of the afterlife. Similarly to her power of resurgence, Misty was able to descend into the Afterlife. However, Misty was unable to distinguish reality from hellish vision, and became trapped in her personal hell.
Resurgence - The magical ability to bring the dead back to full life. Misty is able to revive the dead with a simple touch by reaching "the place between life and death and draw the soul back to life."[5] Often, the strain of this ability would cause her faint, but over time, her talent progressed to allow her to retain consciousness after resurrecting someone.
Chlorokinesis - The magical ability to control plant life. Misty used this power to speed up a plant growth, after cut it out, during her preparation to Seven Wonders Test.

life and death         a shack by the louisiana bayou   stevie nicks musicÂ
ââ && it looks like misty day has finally arrived in woodshore ( though she originates from american horror story ). although known as a swamp witch back home, here they are a thirty three year old herbal shop owner, known to be sweet, but eccentric. they were coaxed here with the promise of reuniting with their coven. they remember leaving to travel the world with stevie nicks. â lily rabe.
from what point in your characters canon are they taken from?
misty was taken from ahs apocalypse, where she is resurrected from her own personal hell by michael langdon and then leaves to travel the world with stevie nicks to heal from the traumatic and exhausting experience.Â
gender/pronouns/sexual & romantic orientation/species
misty identifies as cisfemale and goes by she/her pronouns. she is pansexual & panromantic. she is a witch with magic.Â
anything else youâd like to add!
new life: her fake life was completely different than her canon one. the only thing somewhat the same was the fact that she grew up in a deeply religious part of louisiana. her parents were âbible thumpingâ pentacostals. they forced their daughter to adapt to their living. she was punished for her creative freedom, her eccentric ways, and her love of odd things. eventually, misty caved and became their mirror to reflect their own mask of perfection. she didnât have powers. certainly wasnât a witch. she felt more alone, perhaps, than she did in her canon life. even while surrounded by a ton of people versus being alone in a swamp. she was working as a secretary when the letter came, promising her a chance to reunite with her family. a coven. she didnât know what that meant. a coven of witches? she was a good, god fearing woman though. and yet. she knew she was hooked the minute the letter came. she packed her bags and went to woodshore. when she arrived, her memories came flooding back. as well as her magic. almost too much, too quick. she spiraled and stripped herself of her fake life, adopting her old ways and personality and setting up a herbalist shop. at least until she can figure out what the heck is going on. and where the rest of her witches are.

~Lilyâs lived a unique existence â over and over again. Cursed to relive a painful existence as punishment her father warranted when she was first born to him, sheâs always been lonely, never been accepted. Until now. But having found the acceptance she craves, she still longs for someone to share her life with. The problem with that, is she canât find him without the answers an ancient she now calls âuncleâ wonât share with her. Giving up hope and done with begging, lies and deception, she leaves all she knows behind to strike out on her own, to forge a path not rooted to a past kept hidden from her. Carrik has spent countless centuries standing in a clearing in the swamps of Louisiana. Most see him and think heâs an amazing tree. Heâs not a tree. Heâs a Dragon. Caught in the crossfires of punishment dealt to his mateâs father lifetimes ago, heâs cursed to stand for eternity or until his mate recognizes and claims him â whichever comes first. Heâs seen her over the years, different faces, different names, but always the same soul. The problem is that she has no memory of him, and those that do arenât willing to share their secrets. So, he stands, having lost all hope, deriving a way to wreak vengeance on those who stole his life and love from him. A few misspoken words from a heartbroken young woman awaken a Dragon Tree, and send him rampaging through a landscape that hasnât seen a live Dragon in so long almost none remember they truly existed. Almost. Those that do remember rush to save their community, calm the Dragon, make peace with him. But how can they do that when the one thing he wants, the one woman who can soothe his soul, is nowhere to be found? This book is a work of fiction. All characters and situations are products of the authorâs imagination. Warning: This book is intended for mature readers. This book contains intimate situations that may be disturbing for some readers. henlo - no, alex did not take a new character this time, this is just me revamping and updating my Messy Swamp Child a bit !!
â° ( OLIVIA HOLT, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER ) *â§.:°â・ â- is that CAROLINE HARVEY ?! you know them, right? they are the 23 year old UNMARKED SHADOWHUNTER !! theyâre known for being ADAPTIVE & SMART - but iâd be careful if i were you because theyâre also STUBBORN & IMPATIENT.
precious louisiana girl, misses her hometown a lot, canât go back bc her adoptive parents are Demons
alright so her life was pretty ânormalâ until she was about 6. she had a âlovingâ family, horses, a farm, leading the louisiana bayou cowboy lifestyle
she was being taken care of by lilian ward more than her parents but she had no problem with that, she absolutely loved the woman, lily was her idol growing up
one of those days spent playing with her closest friend benji ( YES. THAT BEN. THE GRUMPY MOM WOLF. ) ended up changing both of their lives
they were out a lot later than they were supposed to be, exploring the forest for an imaginary friend called mr. red. they were attacked, it was dark and everything happened so fast they werenât able to understand a thing
when it all ended, they were both injured, caroline a bit worse than ben
the townspeople found them and the last time she saw him was through her blurry vision, the two being pulled away from each other as they used the last bits of their strength on trying not to let them seperate them by holding hands tightly, but of course they werenât succesful
fast forward to when she woke up, the first thing she wanted to know was if he was safe. but her parents were without a clue since apparently all they cared about was her health, even though they were considering adopting ben since they were like siblings anyway. and of course, after this incident and since ben was two years older than her and couldnât âlook out for herâ they decided not to
after this her relationship with her parents went downhill, as she was trying to get used to her new life as well, without her best friend by her side and without a clue as to what happened to him
so after that, she left on her own to travel around the states.
by doing that, unknowingly, she was saving herself from the monsters that her parents were. i am not going to go into detail here as this is already getting too long, but the harveys were injecting ben and caroline with demon blood ever since they were small and experimenting on warlock magic to enchant their bodies for the production of warlock children when they grew up. that caused both of them to end up with weird mutations (benâs poison claws and overall bigger werewolf body & carolineâs telekinesis abilities)
if you see a girl with a cowgirl hat and boots around, thatâs caroline
SHEâS FRIENDLY COME BE FRIENDS WITH HER
okay now moving onto UPDATES !!
- after finding out about being an unmarked shadowhunter, caroline focused on learning more about the shadow world with the help of kaleb, lukas and others that she had met along the way - but during one night, she had discovered her abilities (well, at least some part of it) while with kaleb and after âactivatingâ her skills, she was attracting the attention of warlocks, demons and the clave even though they didnât know exactly why was that - so thatâs why kaleb decided to take her away, he didnât want the clave to discover her powers and use her as a weapon in the war - they werenât planning to return until after the dust settled but finding out about her sisterâs disappearance, caroline wanted to come back to investigate and find her so sheâs back now! - sheâs just a goofball, come befriend her and downworlders feel free to confuse her even more than she is bc thatâs always fun shfjsk

Misty Day
An earthy young woman from a backwoods Pentecostal community in the bayous of Louisiana, Misty Day was misunderstood due to her ability to bring souls back from the dead (i.e. the power of resurgence). Although some saw her gift as a blessing from God, others in the community saw her as a necromancer and a threat to the community. Since her resurrection from being burned at the stake, Misty spends her days wandering the swamps and listening to Stevie Nicks, insisting that the lead singer from Fleetwood Mac is a witch, which she interprets through the lyrics.

New Post has been published on https://toldnews.com/united-states-of-america/the-feds-are-spending-48-million-to-move-his-village-but-he-doesnt-want-to-go/
The Feds are spending $48 million to move his village. But he doesn't want to go.
A tract of land has been bought and surveys are underway before the building starts and families move in over the next year or two.
But Chris Brunet doesnât want to go.
As he looks out across the disappearing sliver of land called Isle de Jean Charles, he says the multimillion-dollar project to create a new community for him and his neighbors is not an opportunity to be grabbed but a hard decision that has to be taken.
The isle is the only home heâs ever known.
His parents lived there. And theirs. And theirs.
âThe scenery and the setting to be raised in as a child, and play outside and all of this here, ⌠(itâs) just a real good upbringing,â Brunet says.
The island is flat and open. Breezes stir the Spanish moss hanging from old trees and rattle wind chimes. Time here is marked by storms. At one point, houses were built on the ground, then some were raised on short piers. Then came Hurricanes Isidore and Lili and the homes had to be put on higher stilts. By the time Gustav smashed through, most of the houses had been lifted.
But still this land, settled by Native Americans when they were forced from their ancestral areas onto the Trail of Tears nearly two centuries ago, is disappearing.
Rising seas, subsidence and erosion have seen 98% of the surface of Isle de Jean Charles smothered by water since 1950. And itâs not stopping.
So Brunet made his decision and plans to move 40 miles north and inland along with perhaps 20 other families to the new settlement paid for by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
âItâs a nice piece of property,â he says, adding however, âitâs not this. You canât go there and remake this. Thereâs no, thereâs no possible way.â
The property is also open and flat. Spanish moss still hangs from the trees. But any birdsong has to compete with the noise of the traffic from Highway 24 that runs along one side of the tract. Thereâs a bayou, but Brunet laughs as he says, âI just see a ditch.â
The land used to be sugarcane fields, but now it will be a âhugely important pioneer project,â says Pat Forbes, executive director of Louisianaâs Office of Community Development. The people of Isle de Jean Charles will not be the last to have to move because of climate change.
Because itâs the first government project of its kind, it will be more expensive but it also offers opportunities, Forbes says.
âOne of the main objectives is to enhance the culture that the community once had and help them have an opportunity to come back to some semblance of that here,â he tells CNN.
But he knows that some islanders will move reluctantly, and some not at all.
âI canât blame them. They grew up there. They see that they can still live there right now and, and they want to live the rest of their lives there.â
Chantel Comardelle hopes some facets of island life â like children playing with cousins and extended family â can be recreated on the mainland. But her own grandmother, 94, has no intention of moving so she knows some things will be lost.
âWe donât know how to move people with deep roots,â she says. âI mean thatâs the emotional, spiritual, social and cultural level.
âWe have to figure out how to do that because thereâs other communities that are deep rooted and as leaders we have to figure out how to do that good, and right.â
Isle de Jean Charles is likely to be submerged within the lifetimes of the children now scampering around it. Their move may be followed by the villagers of Shishmaref in Alaska, who have voted twice to relocate their community inland before it is swamped by rising seas, though they have no way to make that happen.
But one day, it wonât be villages thinking of relocation, it will be cities, says Tor Tornqvist, chair of Earth and Environmental Science at Tulane University.
âWhat maybe five years ago was the worst-case scenario is now what we might call a fairly likely scenario,â he says of the impacts predicted by the latest climate change research.
Tulaneâs home of New Orleans will be affected, lying as it does largely below sea level.
âBut the reality is that there are other, even larger cities that may actually be even more vulnerable, like Miami for example,â Tornqvist says.
âAll these cities are going to face dramatic changes, and weâre going to see large migrations of their inhabitants, probably later this century.â
And thatâs when some of the effects of rising seas could be felt in places hundreds of miles from any ocean, says Mark Davis, Tornqvistâs Tulane colleague and director of the universityâs Institute on Water Resources Law and Policy
âIf Iâm in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iâm thinking, this isnât such a bad place to be in a changing world, they may be right. But if your goods canât get to market because thereâs no New Orleans to send your goods to, or if youâre depending upon fertilizers and fuels that come from here, and those plants are located here, ⌠then you are going to be affected by what happens in places like this, whether youâre thinking about it or not.â
And while no one can know exactly what will happen, there will undoubtedly be widespread impact of climate change, he says.
âAnyone who thinks weâre going to live through the next 50 to 100 years without dramatic change, you know, is not paying attention.â

The lights came on as it introduced the audience to the next era, the south.
A trio of geese were standing on the stage which was decorated to look like a swamp. They were dressed appropriately for what was worn back then in the south. They each had a glass of lemonade in there hand as they began to sing.
"I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten look away, look away, look away Dixieland!"
"I got a gal and you got none!" One of them sang.
"Little Liza Jane!" The others accompanied.
"I gotta go and you gotta run!" Another sang.
"Little Liza Jane!"
"Camptown ladies sing this song! Doo Da! Doo Da! The Camptown racetrack' s five miles long oh the doo da day!"
The spotlight then turned towards an old, brown, hound dog sitting on his front porch outside his house in his rocking chair, rocking back and forth with a pipe in his hand as the background singers came on.
"The sun shines bright on my old Kentucky home, till summer the homefolks are gay...."
The dog looked towards the audience with tired eyes. "It's the good life." He said.
A crop of corn outside his window instantly opens up revealing the healthy crop as a bunch of sunflowers rose up against the porch.
"The corn top's ripe and the medow's in the bloom and the birds make music all the day."
The song ended as birds chirping were heard.
The spotlight then went to Sam and Ollie on a donkey in southern garb as they introduced the next act. "Now, the swamp boys. "
The audience turned their attention to three gators on a boat on the swamp, one playing a banjo, the other playing a guitar and the last one playing the accordion. There was a small raccoon with a red bandanna around his neck playing the harmonica and three frogs on some lilly pads providing back up vocals.
"Oh I went down south for to see my sal sing polly wolly doodle all day. My sal , she is a spunky gal sing polly wolly doodle all day. Fare thee well, Fare thee well, Fare thee well my fairy fay. I'm off to Louisiana to see my Susanna singing polly wolly doodle all day!"
The light went back to Sam and Ollie.
Sam chuckled a bit. "And now a tender complaint..."
"Sung from the heart!" Ollie finished.
The light turned towards a possum mother who was giving her kids a bath and three more of her kids hanging on a clothes line to dry. She seemed tired and weary.
"When I was single, dressed up so fine. Now I am married to rugged all the time." She looked up at the sky. "Lord, i wish I was a single girl again."
"Aww." Sam and Ollie said expressing their condolences.
The light then shifted towards a fox in a rocking chair as he strummed his guitar.
"Down in the valley, the valley so low. Late in the evening hear the train blow. Write me a letter, send it by mail. Send it in care of the Birmingham jail."
A set piece of a wall with a window with bars in front of it rose up behind him.
"The Birmingham jail."
The same weasel the audience saw in the first act popped out from a barrel from the jail cell. "Pop! Goes the weasel!" He laughed again as he went back into the barrel.
Gospel music started to sound as the light shined onto a huge gospel choir. There was a total of 11 people. 4 hens on both the left and the right and three foxes in the middle. They all had their hands up in the air.
"Well, I'm gonna lay down my burden!"
"Down!"
"Down by the riverside!"
"Down!"
"Down by the riverside! Down by the riverside, gonna lay down my burden!"
"Down!"
"Down by the riverside! Ain't gonna study war no more! Ain't gonna study! Ain't gonna study war no more! Ain't gonna study! Study! Ain't gonna study war no more!"
"Bum bum!" The frogs on the lily pads hummed as they ended the song.
The light then turned towards Sam and Ollie again.
"And now let's journey on, that a way!" Sam smiled.
"Giddy up you all!" Ollie shouted happily.
They started to sing as the stage rotated again as the room went dark as the audience clapped.
"Well Yankee Doodle headed west working on the railroad. Crossing on rivers, overhills and moving with a big load. Onward west the trains roll, the cattle were a grazing. The tales and songs that people sang were really quite amazing! Yankee Doodle sing it up, Yankee Doodle Dandy mind the music and the words and with the songs be handy. "
"H-Hi there. You must be Sam." *waves shyly*
The eagle chuckled a bit. âYes I am. And who might you be?â He asked.

A Soldierâs Play
Medea
Grand Horizons
My Name is Lucy Barton
Below is a selection of New York theater openings in January, organized chronologically by opening date.* Three shows are opening on Broadway this month â Laura Linney in âMy Name Is Lucy Barton,â David Alan Grier and Blair Underwood in âA Soldierâs Play,â Jane Alexander and James Cromwell in âGrand Horizons.â There are also a handful of exciting shows Off-Broadway â Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale in a modern update of a Greek tragedy; Charles Busch in his lastest comic melodrama. What makes January one of the busiest months of the year for theater in New York are the annual January theater festivals.
Although several of these festivals have died recently, those that remain offer collectively more than 70 theater pieces; most are experimental, often hybrids that redefine what theater is, and are often difficult to describe; many run for as little as one or two performances.
The festivals seem to set the tone for some of the non-festival works this month. When else but in January would there be two adaptations of Medea, and a trio of plays from New Zealand?
Each title below is linked to a relevant website. Color key: Broadway: Red. Off Broadway: Black or Blue.. Off Off Broadway: Green. Theater festival: Orange. Immersive: Magenta.Â
*The festival shows and many Off-Off Broadway donât have official opening nights, so they are listed according to their first performance.
