Pint of Science brings science to the pub

The Pint of Science is being organized in the Netherlands for the second time from 20 to 22 May. During this festival, which takes place simultaneously all over the world, scientists tell about their research in the pub to anyone who wants to come and listen and drink a beer. The Utrecht edition will take place at the Louis Hartlooper complex. Science is often located in ivory towers. Science institutions are difficult to access, scientific publications are in magazines for which you need expensive subscriptions, and if you then have access to publications they are usually written in incomprehensible language. But science belongs to us all. It is not only paid with our tax money, it also changes our lives. That is why Pint of Science makes science accessible to everyone, in a relaxed and accessible environment: the pub. Pint of Science was founded by two researchers in London in 2013 and has many successful editions to his name in, among others, the United Kingdom, France, the United States and Brazil. Last year, Pint of Science was served for the first time in cafés in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Wageningen. This year we are expanding to as many as eight cities: Amsterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven, Groningen, Maastricht, Nijmegen, Utrecht and Wageningen. In every city, scientists will talk about their research on different evenings and in different cafés. Topics range from "dating in the animal kingdom" to "a portrait of a black hole," and "the healthy menu of tomorrow" to "the limits of sport." To make the event accessible to everyone, most evenings are free. Tickets cost a few euros at a few locations, but then you get a free drink in return. Also for the free evenings online and card must be "purchased", due to visitor numbers.
