I'm surprised nobody has mentioned how gay this is. just. this is like. walking around with id love to fellate george harrison or daddy i love him gay but in louis font.
So this is a song by The Smiths. This song has been at the at the absolute very top of my gay songs gaying playlist and HL playlists like somehow outshining The Smiths' This Charming Man, which may I add has been all over Louis' playlists through the years, anyway.
The Smiths - I Want the One I Can't Have
(deleted repeated bits:)
On the day that your mentality Decides to try to catch up with your biology
Come round 'Cause I want the one I can't have And it's driving me mad It's all over, all over, all over my face
A double bed And a stalwart lover for sure These are the riches of the poor
A tough kid who sometimes swallows nails Raised on Prisoner's Aid He killed a policeman when he was thirteen And somehow that really impressed me And it's written all over my face
And if you ever need self-validation Just meet me in the alley by the railway station It's all over my face Oh...
I don't know how much I need to talk about these lyrics, I love this song and its layers but multiple being he's yearning for this man who isn't coming to terms with his sexuality / living a life in the closet. To me. But again there are a bunch of interpretations. Also looking at it through My Policeman eyes can help.
And there's this lovely double-entendre which FITF has as well just less obvious perhaps like are we all just silently going OOP or has it not landed yet I don't know I've not seen it around much that it's "written all over his face"... .. ..... .... It's a bit more obvious in this song eh. OOP. Anyway.
Also I'd like to add that this "I want the one that I can't have" on the pleasures clothing is very much a reference to the song, as they have been vocal about Morrissey/The Smiths and other iconic musicians being inspirations.

for instance.
Also I'd like to add Louis recognizing this as a The Smiths song isn't that hard to believe either, since it's all over his playlists, The Charming Man still currently being on there (god just so fucking gay keep going). Since I keep track of that as much as I can let me let it shine here lol:
This Charming Man is currently on his Tour Bus Playlist, has been on his 2022 preshow playlist, his KMM influences playlist
Back to the Old House - Change Over playlist
Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - Change Over playlist, BBC takeover mix, 28 songs playlist
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - Change Over playlist
Also I'd like to add the "what happened to you, what happened to me, pleasures is pain" paired with two skulls looking at each other paired with a The Smiths quote all screams Morrissey all together, for instance taking There Is A Light That Never Goes Out: "To die by your side, well the pleasure the priviledge is mine"

But what Louis ends up putting into words is a lot more hopeful and positive lol, it still also screams FITF and I think it's a genius pick to wear on FITF release day, with FITF having lyrics like "it's worth the pain all this time" and "are we one or are we two are we me or are we you" and "we had to disappear" "we faded into darkness", and last but not least again the fucking I Want The One I Can't Have song having "it's written all over my face".
Anyway so I don't know where this circle starts and end basically you don't need to be aware of all these references to just end up with the same vibe same feeling same words same gayness but it just works all together deliciously I love it here.
