Lotus Aroha and Draco Lightning are home! Born November 8, 2021 Adoption date January 10, 2021 from Tiny Paws Rescue. Mom is a medium size husky, dad was an Australian cattle dog. DNA test: 86% Siberian Husky, 5.1% German Shepherd, 8.9% (mutt, Alaskan Malamute, Australian Cattle Dog) and they have 5.1% wolf ancestors! Lotus is black and grey. We took Forest School to the cabin and had the kids build boats out of natural items only and it had to carry a baby carrot a certain length of the creek and the fastest boat won. Car cuddles with your best boy! We've been trying out a dog hammock/seat covers for traveling instead of the 42" crate in the back. Jiraiya obviously loves it bc he gets car cuddles! I also don't mind the kisses and head snuggles I get from Lotus when she's not passed out after playing hard with her floof friends at the dog park. 😂 So far it's working 90% of the time, they keep trying to climb in the back even though they're buckled in. When it's a gorgeous day in March you must walk further and take advantage of not one but two playgrounds nearby. It wasn't just the dogs who got their energy out, we all did! Jiraiya said it felt like we'd walked 6 miles and it was his Best Day Ever, second only to his Birthday Party. I've been missing my Adventure Buddy and it seems I found him again! Holding on to that for as long as I can bc I know with age, he'll probably continue to fight our adventures more. It was a huge factor in agreeing to getting dogs again, knowing we'd have to walk and hike every single day, like we used to before Covid. Yes please! 🤫😂 So far we only take one day off from walking per week and I'm good with that, especially when the weather is bad. Jiraiya and I took the Huskies snowshoeing and they were ecstatic to be in their element! It was awesome to have them pull me up the mountain, but going down was downright scary! I should have put on my spikes bc it was pure ice under all that new snow and I went down hard! It's probably the first time I felt fear for my age. It didn't really knock the wind out of me, but it took me several minutes to decide if I was hurt or not. Oh, The Places You'll Go! - Dr. Seuss Lotus and Draco are keeping us on the move! They prefer to walk on trails rather than the neighborhood bc of all the distractions. They'll have us running in no time as they're so strong! Once that master just being on the leash, I'll train them to heel. It's been impossible so far. They have sit and down like pros. Jiraiya is working on shake and I'm working on them to stay. I'm also on my 2nd training book and these pups are still fighting for my position of pack leader.
