my first piece colored for the @zutaracoloringbook !

the lines were done in clip studio paint, the color in marker, colored pencil, gel pen, and paint pen. with some minor digital touch ups after scanning.

under the cut, for anyone interested, im going to ramble a lot about the process of this one because i just have a lot of thoughts asdfghjk the tldr is: this is not at all how i expected this piece to look, i fell asleep working on it at one point which is just wild to me, and 'ooo pretty colors'

i've sat on this one for a little bit and im still not sure how i feel about it? i like it but it's also not at all how i expected the color for this piece to look asdfghj

i originally thought the palette would be darker but after printing the piece i realized, given the lines were not as dark as they would have been if they'd been drawn traditionally, that i'd drown out the lines with that color scheme.

i also made a lot of little mistakes ranging from using colors darker then i wanted for shading to at one point Literally Falling Asleep While Coloring With Black Marker, thus leaving a black spot on the page that I then had to work around.

the paper also was a double edged sword. i did not print on marker paper or artist paper, which usually is not an issue with me. i know most marker artists will strangle me for saying this, but i have never drawn on marker paper? like ever? i taught myself how to use marker on mixed media paper and i have rarely used marker paper since. i've just never felt a need? contrary to what people have said, i've never seen any like abnormal wear and tear on my markers doing this and i, personally, just accept that markers are going to bleed. it's not my enemy it's just part of the medium. it's what markers do. they're a wet medium even on paper made for wet mediums they will bleed out and often bleed through a little bit. i learned how to work around that and use it to my advantage. this paper however, the markers didn't bleed at all? and they dried so fast it made maintaining an even texture and blending like i normally do a challenge. it just didn't have a lot of give? HOWEVER the color pay off was CRAZY like the colors are so vivid and bright and rich. like, i made my own color chart for my markers on index cards and then i would often test the colors on scrap paper of the same paper to confirm what the colors going to look like but when i would use colors on the piece itself they were always darker, richer, brighter, and just all around way more vivid. which makes the piece very nice to look at, admittedly asdfghjk. so paper pros: fantastic color pay off like crazy color pay off, paper cons: I Don't Know How To Blend.

for anyone wondering why i didn't print on marker paper: firstly, i don't have any this size. secondly, marker paper tends to be pretty thick and not super malleable so i didn't think it'd be safe for my printer. likewise, i didn't think any of my other paper would be either. so i decided to do what i did last year which was use a fancy paper stock i had that was printer safe for my printer paper so it's not just regular thin computer paper.

some of these technical issues i blame on being out of practice, i haven't worked in marker for a minute and this piece involving such large scale blending was a bit ambitious especially on unfamiliar paper (learning how to blend with markers i find is just a lot of practice with your particular markers to know how they behave while also knowing your paper). but im also just confused because i feel like the paper behaved better when i used it last year and with my self portraits asdfghj im wondering if i just printed this on the wrong side? more testing is in order before i work on my next two pieces dfghjklfghjk

so, anyway, i might try to color this one again because i don't know how satisfied i am with it. like, i like it, but also it just doesn't feel correct. i might do it digitally or i might do it traditionally, we'll see. but im not going to try again until i finish the other two i need to color. i think this stems from the fact that i just feel like the palette was meant to be different then the one i ended up with so it just still feels incomplete to me. we'll see how i feel, though, when i finish the other two.

so,,, what does LAMP do when Linda does get in trouble? i just need another thing to add to the "reasons why im jealous asf of linda" list asdfghj

hmm. how to explain this.

i don't have children, but i want them, and as such i spend a lot of time reading up on child psychology and on parenting tiktok. it colors a lot of the way i write linda and brian and their interactions with their parents, as well as the way i write Dot and Larry.

so bear with me here, i promise i have backing for this (also it went under a cut because it got long)

Linda does not get "in trouble."

Which is not to say she never experiences consequences for doing things she shouldn't - but those consequences are what this parenting technique (sometimes called "gentle parenting" but some people prefer "respectful parenting" or "positive parenting") refer to as "natural consequences."

she does not get punished (defined as adding a negative stimulus to the childs life to deter future bad behavior, a parenting technique which has been proven time and time again in study after study to be ineffective), instead she gets a stern but gentle explanation (NOT a lecture, which is shaming and makes kids shut down) as to why what she did was wrong, and experiences the natural consequences of whatever her behavior was

Natural consequences are 1) related to the behavior, 2) respectful to the child (so no violence, physical or verbal, obviously) and 3) reasonable

some example of natural consequences: if she makes a mess, she has to clean it up (though this is more like "help clean it up" when she's younger, and getting more independent the older she gets). If she throws a toy in anger, they take the toy away.

oftentimes, natural consequences do not even have to be deliberately inflicted, only explained. For example, if Linda breaks a toy by being careless with it, they will often not fix it right away, even though Logan or Virgil absolutely could with magic, in order to teach her that she has to be careful with her possessions or she will no longer be able to play with them. This is a natural consequence of a broken toy - being unable to play with it now that it's broken

this is getting rambly and starting to look a lot more like me infodumping about parenting but some more details - the parenting also changes as Linda gets older. They don't really ground her when she's a young child, because they understand that she is neurodivergent and young and struggles with paying attention and impulse control. At that stage, when she "misbehaves", there is a lot of repetition of rules, a lot of body doubling to help her get things done when she's struggling, and a lot of modeling behavior.

When she's older and has a better grasp on things like consequences, they can get a little more indirect (though still related, respectful, and reasonable) - for example, for sneaking out with Brian and Percy in Three, the natural consequence was an earlier curfew for a few weeks. Related to sneaking out without permission, respectful and reasonable in that it's not excessively controlling or cruel.

To flesh out the Three situation as an example - the main thing Linda and Brian actually did wrong was not tell their parents where they were going. They do have curfews, but the curfews are negotiable, and if they'd asked to go out for the night with Percy, LAMP and Thomas/Harley probably would have let them

Linda and Brian know this, because their parents have established it before - so the parents' main concern in that specific instance was not punishment but "why did you sneak out instead of asking permission, a previously established rule you know of?"

and the answer - "it was already late and the outing was spontaneous, and I didn't want to wake you up"

Well, that's kind of a different animal than just willful disobedience, right? An attempt at consideration to their parents, even. And theyre teenagers, so impulsive leaps of logic are pretty par for the course. Leaving the notes behind to tell their parents where they went also reflects this.

So, the rule gets updated - "you can wake us up to ask us to go out, and you won't be in trouble. we might still say no (for example if the weather is bad or there are other good reasons not to leave the house), but we won't be mad at you for asking."

i know this is long and probably more detailed than you wanted but i really wanted to get across where I'm coming from properly - i make in-text jokes about Linda being spoiled, but she does experience consequences. I just, personally, do not think punishment as defined above does children any good (a stance backed up be child psychs) and that there are better ways to model those consequences

After MUCH deliberation, I could only narrow my favorite overall character down to two people: Chifuyu and Mitsuyu. Both are badasses with softer sides. I get strong simp vibes too😂. I couldn’t go with Mikey because of all his unresolved issues and I didn’t want to be next y’know.✌️Same with Kazutora but he might’ve been right so we’ll wait and see. Draken is high but he’s to self sacrificing for me and my heart. Naoto and Baji need more screen time but faves. Takemichi 🤦‍♀️ It depends on him.

This post is not organized whatsoever I’m just spitballing all the dumb headcanons I have for this guy asdfgfd 

How the birb tries to convey his feelings 

First off, Revali will try to deny the fact that he likes a Hylian as much as possible. He is in denial half the time he’s around them

Pfft me, with some Hylian? I don’t need to concern myself with such insignificant—

But whenever they come into view, his heart flutters. He’ll try to write it off as “oh they just make me sick with how terrible they are” but after a while it becomes obvious when he’s noting how adorable and cute they are on a daily basis, and remembering all their likes and dislikes and taking that into account whenever he talks with them of look at that he’s in love

In an effort to continue his denial, he’ll probably make up a few dumb insults, like “little Hylian” or just plain “idiot”

This is just his way of trying to get your attention, because only Hylia knows if Revali is capable of having a normal conversation with you

“Oh look, the little Hylian has come to visit me, only natural considering I’m the most interesting thing in the village!”

His mocking tone aside, he’s always nervous when talking with you. The feathers on his neck will poof up from embarrassment whenever you’re near. Spirits save him if you ever sneak up on him

“Hey there Revali, I was just wonderi—” 

Revali subsequently becomes a poofball. “GAH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE???” 

He’ll get so self-conscious when around his crush. I didn’t clean my armour yet. My braids are still messy. My scarf doesn’t match my outfit. Did they see me practicing archery earlier? I missed the target by a few hairs. 

He also feels suuuuuuuuuuuuper jealous for you whenever you’re around other people. When you’re around Link or some other Rito warrior, he just puffs up his chest feathers and makes himself as big and tall as possible. In addition to letting out snide comments/petty insults about Link/other Rito guy

He’s very conscious about being the shortest Rito around

When he’s actively courting you, he tries to change his looks to make himself more colorful

“I like the new ribbons in your hair!”

“Oh you noticed? Well, I just like having new colors that match my appearance, they make me more handsome than usual right?...what there’s no special occasion or anything why would you think that these aren't for anyone in particular please—”

Whenever anyone acknowledges his new appearance he goes into panic mode

He WILL spend hours on his hair and his tall feathered crest, then say that his good looks come naturally

When it comes to whoever his crush is, first things first is attention

He gives a bunch of gifts (but says stuff like “Oh, I found this Rito bracelet with the same gem as your birth stone what a coincidence but I don’t really want it anymore here take it”)

Everything he gives you must be colorful, because birbs love color

He will cook THE BEST SHIT for his crush, and only them

Revali will hunt the meat himself, so eating with his crush will check a lot of boxes

Bragging about hunting the meat himself? Check

Bragging about how he cooked such a delicious meal with a special recipe only he knows? Check

Spending time alone and just hanging out and talking with them? Check and wow look at that he’s a poofball again from all the anxiety. Time to hide it under a bunch of bragging and self-centered-ness

Also the bird instinct of preening might come into play. He just wants them to be as cute as possible!

“You have a bunch of leaves in your hair”

“What?”

Revali proceeds to ignore all personal space and removes the stray twigs and stuff from their hair

“There, now you look much better” oh wait was that too weird do hylians not do this sort of thing are they even taking the hints asdfghj

When Rito take a mate, they trade feathers, and displaying the feather of their mate is basically the equivalent of a ring.

So when Revali confesses I like to think he just dumps a bunch of his feathers from his last molting on his crush 

And when they go out, he braids his feathers in their hair

Also I like to think Revali never sings, but he only sings for his crush because he reserves his singing voice just for them

but if anyone ever brings up the fact that Revali is a good singer he will VERY MUCH deny it

gotta keep up the tough guy act, ya know?

Bonus:

I like to think that the red feather that Kass always wears is a decorated feather from Amali

I also know for a fact that Saki was the one who proposed to Teba, because he’s too much of a dense idiot to actively do romantic stuff of his own accord

So when Saki trades her feathers with him, (on the top of Rito Village, with a shimmering sunset reflecting off the crisp snow of the Hebra Mountains behind them) he just blanks out and goes

“Thanks”

and flies away

When he realizes later on what just happened, he will sputter out  apologies, but Saki just shuts him up by preening/cuddling him and sdfghasasdfgh

idk if i’m the right person to ask that since i don’t make many graphics i can’t say much lol but hmm personally i love when the lines are smooth. like an lineart. that’s why i always clean my panels & use topaz labs, it makes everything so soooo much better! even if u want to clean a colorful manga cover, it helps a lot! another one hmmm maybe don’t be afraird of experimenting and using different techniques/textures/brushes and colors! esp bright colors asdfghj i lvoe them

Harp (Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask): - post-ocarina so basically she’s in the adult timeline but seven years older than she were when we last saw her at the end of oot - big mom friend,,,,,,,,,,,, tall and Motherly will adopt every child - she can and will slice a bitch if she needs to dont cross her - her scars were from the 7 years where she hid as Sheik while Time took himself a nice little nap - after sending Time back to his childhood she’s just been working to rebuild her kingdom and is now Queen - like i said on the Links one, headcanon that she’s Time’s twin sister - nothing much to say about her design it’s pretty much the same asdfghj

Plume (Skyward Sword): - still rowdy. still bapey - can and will push you off a cliff - really loves her animals and insists her remlit’s a sweetheart despite what Sky may tell her - really sweet and understanding about Sky and his napping but will still Suplex A Bitch if he’s being an ass - after what happened in skyward sword she’s in the lead of getting the settlement on the surface up and running - changed her outfit a bit to one more inspired by one of her concept designs but it’s kinda hard to see anything but a white shirt in this image asdfghj - a few scrapes and scratches from tumbling around on the surface, nothing too serious though

Dawn (Twilight Princess): - Stoic and Quiet - i’ve had Twi for five minutes, but if anything were to happen to him i would kill everyone in this room and then myself - cares a whole lot about her kingdom and will do just about anything for her people- has been working to rebuild her kingdom too but like there isn’t much to fix anyway so i guess she gets off easy - again, same design as usual aaaaand no real noteworthy scars she’s smart enough not to get killed unlike everyone else

Hope (Breath of the Wild): - NERD ALERT - spends most of her time documenting and rambling - what do you mean shes gotta rule her country she’s found a cool frog she’s gotta take pictures of!!!! - can actually remember her friends and misses them a whole lot :( - HOO GIRL YOU’VE GOT......... A WHOLE LOT TO REBUILD..... WHEW - kept her design mostly as is and gave her the green eyes because nINTENDO ARE SO INCONSISTENT WITH HER EYE COLOUR IS2G - got in a few scrapes after sAVING WILD’S DYING ASS so that’s where the scars are from

Rapier (Hyrule Warriors): - the cool but wildly irresponsible mom - *gives a whole sword to small child* hell yeah kid go fuck those bitches up - also filthy rich even compared to the other Zeldas like look at that ridiculous amount of gold and silver armour it’s not even gonna protect her dumb ass - can absolutely destroy you if she chooses to do so - has a lot of scars because sOMEONE doesn’t know how to gear up properly - knows sign language so that she can communicate with Her Boy 

Canvas (A Link Between Worlds): - the biggest sweetheart you’ll ever meet...... like oh my god bapey............ - Big Fan Of Art - has a whole museum of paintings in her castle - is 100% convinced that Albi is Deceased :( spent a lot of resources to find him but kinda gave up on it after a year or two  - the lighter patch on her face is the ‘splash’ mark from being turned into a painting which also caused the color in her eyes to change - she actually used to have green eyes

Pebble (The Minish Cap): - OOOO BABEY.......... TODDLER - still really close to Minish they always hang out - Dramatic Little Shit - absolutely a sheltered kid there’s no way Daltus didn’t get a million times more protective of her after she got pETRIFIED??? - despite being completely baby she still manages to be taller than her Link lmao eat shit Minish - the feathers are supposed to resemble Picori feathers, no idea if they are real or not

Ghost (Spirit Tracks): - FUCKING DIES ASDFGHGFGHJ - super energetic and sweet - got all of Tetras attitude but none of the smarts. absolute Buffoon - might be out of mortal danger but still gets in trouble all the damn time - barely has any scars because ghosts don’t get injuries but she does have a big burn/lightning like scar on her chest/stomach from having her sOUL RIPPED OUT OF HER BODY - redesigned the dress a bit so she’d look different from Pebble - also the ribbon in her hair is supposed to be a Tetra’s old bandana!! she got it as a gift from her when she was still Very Small

Tetra (The Wind Waker): - Fuck Yeah Pirate Time - completely Rowdy. Will Stab a Bitch - is more like a robin hood type of outlaw she only steals from Corrupt Rich Asshats like a good pirate should - swears WAY too much. Horrible Influence on Children - is missing like half on her left leg, probably lost it to like a gyorg or some shit - scars are from various battles with other pirates, bokoblins, birds, etc. - busy finding a New Continent

Uh the quiet type maybe. I’d rather not do teamwork and I just mind my business. Really I’m more of a get in get out type of student, I refuse to stay on campus for longer than necessary. I either get As or Cs because I sort of prioritize which classes are more important so I guess I still have hs mentality where I ignore the “elective” type classes. Need to work on that oof 

Do you like school? 

Sometimes. I actually took the most recent semester off (which ended like last week) because anxiety :))) My body was just not handling it well. The times I do like a school are honestly when I feel like I could get a moment of peace and quiet on campus but that’s not often

OOF I’ve had lots but here’s one from when I was 15. It’s basically my high school, all dilapidated and whatnot. I’m scrambling around trying to get to class when I reach the third floor of the main building and walk into the main hallway to see my principal, nude and morbidly obese with chains in his hands leading to a dozen naked and anorexic women with black button eyes (Coraline?) and like a mouse’s head? The women were scrubbing the floors and walls until their hands and knees bled. It’s all I remember but it’s stuck with me all these years and every time I think about it I get a bit nauseated

Hey there! Loved your response about your favorite pens, so I was wondering: what other kinds of traditional media do you like to use/ what are some of your favs? :D

Hello!! I’m so glad you liked the response about pens! (Located here incase anyone wants to check it out)! And oooh I have favorites. I’ve done traditional art most of my time drawing and I can be very set in my ways asdfghj.

I’m going to make little sections for mediums I like but I’ll start first with a little overview section I guess before I talk an ungodly amount about markers. Because I will talk an ungodly amount about markers. Markers are my favorite medium by far. I hated markers as a kid but as soon as I got introduced to artist grade markers my life like, changed I swear. But I’ll also touch on paint, ink, and color pencil!

This ended up a lot longer then I expected, so I put it under the cut! I have a lot of feelings about markers and gouache asdfgh.

Forewarning, I’m definitely the type of person to stick with one material after I’m introduced with very little changing over time. I am stubborn like that. So a lot of these will probably read like ‘I tried this once and I liked it and then never tried anything else’. Because that’s probably what happened asdfghjkl. Also a lot of them are probably going to be pretty unsurprising? Like a lot of them are probably fairly common responses for this kind of thing but I’m hoping my answers are somehow enlightening either way. Ok, onto the post!

Markers - Top tier fave!

What I like about markers is how flat they color. I also really like the texture of them. It’s a very flat medium, very fast drying, very good color pay off. That said however, it is not a very light fast medium. Marker out in the sun will fade incredibly fast. That’s like, universal across the medium from my understanding.

I’m not saying anything unique in saying that my favorite brand of marker is Copic. I think everyone usually says that. They are very expensive outside of Japan, but the quality of them is very high and the fact they can be refilled and their nibs can be replaced helps soften the cost for me. I’ve had markers with messed up nibs and I then had to replace the whole thing rather then the offending nib. And the refill packs stretch a really long time in my experience. 

My other favorite brand was Prismacolor, but Prismacolor has since ended their marker line. Some stores still have them in stock, but they from my understanding are not coming back. At least in their previous form (I am hoping they come back in some way). They really filled in where I think Copics do lack, and that’s in having really solid bright vivid colors. Copics are like, vivid and pretty but can be a little softer where as Prisma always packed a punch. Again, hoping they come back if they ever come back I recommend them I have yet to fill the void asdfghjk.

Both brands I prefer the brush tip variants. To the point where I refuse to buy anything but Copic Sketch markers. There’s just more flexibility that way and control I think. However, some people prefer the chisel tips.

Now, I don’t really use other marker brands. I was very lucky that I was gifted a lot of Prismas early on and have been building my collection for years. But, seeing as I’ve laid out expensive brands and I am myself quite broke asdfgh, I have some tips I want to lay out on affording a lot of markers:

When you’re starting out, you do not need the most expensive marker set. I feel like a lot of people feel like this so they go and buy a set of Copics and then find they hate using markers and now they have Copics they never use and don’t know what to do with. You can get a feel for the medium with a cheaper set.

Replacing your set with more expensive markers over time as your current ones die out may be a better bet then buying them all in one go. This is what I did where slowly over time, where I could afford to here or there, I would buy a couple of Copics to either replace markers in my collection or add to it. It was much easier to manage then buying them all in one go.

Have a mobile marker color palette. I use index cards sorted by color type so I know all the markers I have and what they look like so when I buy lose markers, I have that with me and I’m less likely to purchase a double or one of those colors that's basically so close it might as well be the same. It also helps color match either a color that is no longer on the market or, lets say, They Get Rid Of Their Marker Brand (not bitter at all Prisma).

Also free markers are best markers if you have someone who is willing to allow you to play with their nice markers for a little bit for free to see if you like the medium before you decide to buy, definitely a win

Lastly, I’m a firm believer that the price and quality of a material does not make the art and good art can be produced with any material so, keep that in mind! Having Copics will not make you a good marker artist, practice is what does that.

Markers are still the love of my life. Even if it might not be as obvious given I mostly share digital art on here. My true struggle is how every digital ‘marker’ brush is a lie and brings me no closer to my beloved markers.

Paint

I will admit something. I hate painting. I am bad at it asdfghj it’s too hard to control. Watercolor has never agreed with me. I’m not good with acrylic. I have never tried oil and I don’t want to. It scares me. However there is one paint I do like. And that’s gouache. 

Now, warning, I’m going to talk a lot about gouache now because I feel very strongly about gouache for a person who rarely paints.

More people have heard about gouache recently because of the Himi Jelly Gouache’s that have become kinda trendy. I literally just got a pack of these and made a swatch chart today (I got the really big Miya set). You’ve probably seen them around, they look like this:

But not a lot of people know about gouache, it’s kind of a weird paint. 

It’s basically a more pigmented watercolor. It’s a lot thicker, it’s activated by water, and it never goes bad. Gouache that went dry ages ago can be reactivated with some water. Also, it dries fast. It became very popular amongst illustration. An example I can think of gouache that people are probably familiar with visually is Mary Blair’s old Disney concept art:

What I like about it is it reminds me more of how I work with marker then any other type of paint does. However, if you water it down too much it can become watercolor which is something to be aware of.

However, my biggest problem with it is it’s harder to find and higher grades can be incredibly expensive. 

I actually can’t really recommend brands for gouache due to this because the ones I’ve used the most are lower end that I don’t really feel are worthy of recommending as a go to. I will say, whatever’s in your local craft/art store as lower grade is probably fine to play around with and will stretch a long way (ie: I did a six foot self portrait for an assignment with one of those and I still have paint left over in that set). However, those sets will likely have some problems where the pigment and the binder may have split in the tubes. 

I would say something about Himi but I’ve only made a swatch chart with those and I’d rather say something about them after I’ve done a full work. For me and my workflow, I think I’ll prefer the fact the paint is in cups rather then tubes. The color selection is also very nice and you get a lot of color. However the paint itself can crack easily if laid on too thick, which is something to be aware of.

Ink

This one’s weird to me because I hate not being in absolute control. However, I love ink. I think its because I love ink pens, so I by extension feel I must love ink. Ink from the bottle is very liquidly, very hard to control, very weird, and Yet. Here I Am. Honestly, it might be because when I have a bottle of ink and a brush I feel very fancy and like I know what I’m doing when I absolutely do not. 

For this section though, I think it’s important to keep in mind I’m not much of an expert with ink. I haven’t done full ink pieces. I’ve mostly used ink as an accent or a wash in mixed media pieces, so that’s the perspective I’m coming from.

I like Dr. Martin’s Bamboo line for colors. In that my professor told me to buy them, so I did, then I liked them. They have good color pay off from what I’ve messed around with. I also don’t remember if I mentioned it in the last post, but I like Higgin’s India Ink for solid black lines on top of paint also.

My one thing with straight ink that I’ve noticed personally is I have trouble getting a solid, solid black? But that’s probably the brands I’m using more then anything else.

Also I recommend a shimmery metallic gold ink. For the soul. Anyone will probably do. I just know my art life improved when I got a metallic gold ink (as evidenced by how I used one excessively in inktober 2019 asdfgh)

Color Pencil

This one I feel obligated to write because in high school I used color pencil a lot. But now I mostly use it as an accent or highlight on other mediums (namely gouache). I like Prismacolor pencils, they’re very smooth and creamy. A good color pay off. However, weirdly hard to sharpen? They can break a lot in transport to wherever they’re going internally which causes them to break a lot when sharpening.

Since I don’t study art, I’m not currently actively trying to become better at it, all I do is doodle whatever silly idea I have at the moment without an actual clue of what I’m doing while at it and post it cause people seem to like it when I do, concrit is literally the last thing I need. Yes and no! My fantasy drawings aren’t exactly telling a story, so I’m doing whatever with them - it’s not really headcanons, it’s just me playing around with any idea I find entertaining at the moment!! So yes, definitely, Baku and Mina as dragon shifters are still a thing I love a lot and I might draw more in the future! But that doesn’t exclude me drawing for the AU in a setting where only Kiri is a dragon either~

Sure, why not? Bakugou’s never hidden his feelings in the manga, nor has he ever felt embarrassed by them! He’s a bit awkward in showing affection I guess, but to me it feels more because he isn’t used to it than because he wants to hide it - if he were to start dating Kirishima he’d definitely have no problems with letting everyone know they’re in a relationship of that sort, I think :D well, it’s just my interpretation of it anyway haha

Headcanons

ASDFYU OMG THANK YOU NONNY I STAN I STANNN 

Well, I actually made some of my MC x Noah HC because they are s o u l m a t e s and this is the post buuuuut some Noah hc I have are:

- As I mentioned in my other HC list, Noah is insomniac. He is always staying late and avoids sleeping because almost everytime he falls asleep he has nightmares thus he is always anxious when sleeping. Since he began dating MC in this magical AU the nightmares have been more manageable

- Can I reiterate on the fact that he has a beanie collection?? Like, I am talking all colors and sizes, homeboy’s only fashion statement is his beanie and we stan.

- He is terrible at using social media. MC and Stacey had to b e g him to create an Instagram account. To this day he still does not understand why people add hashtags to posts

- His favorite bands are Green Day, Simple Plan, Set it Off and Rex Orange County (see as I self insert myself in Noah LMAOO)

- His favorite Disney movies are treasure planet and Dumbo because he used to watch them as a kid a lot with Jane *crying noises intensify*

- He is actually a pretty decent singer! The one or two times MC catches him whispering some song she makes a huge deal out of it and asks him to sign autographs for her so when he becomes famous she can sell them, causing him to dramatically roll his eyes and blush while looking away.

- Even though he is a good singer, Noah haaaates dancing and he sucks at it. As I mention in the other HC list, he always ends up tumbling over with his own feet and avoids dance floors like the plague, only slightly softening for MC

- He refuses to buy AirPods even tho all the others have them. His most significant character trait is using wired headphones and owning it

- He has MC saved as “Dumbass 🖤”

- The crew has a group chat in which Noah has tried exiting, multiple times, only to be added once again and everyone going in his case for him to stop being emo asdfghjk

- His spirit animal is a wolf according to him, every-time MC remembers his answer to that question she starts quoting the “in all levels except physical I am a wolf” vine and “Noah has exited the chat” once again.

- His proudest achievement is his music library, with his infinite playlists selection.

- I mention this in almost all my Noah posts but his love for family is one of the things I like the most about him. How much he grasps into that hope his sister is alive and how much he suffers for it, even willing to sacrifice his soulmate friend for that, which okay, was wrong, but he did it with all the good intentions in the bottom of his heart.

- His humor definitely. asdfghj cynical and dark humor is very uwuwuwuwuwu attractive to me and my dankness so yeeee

- His passion for culinary school is soooo asdfghjk of his part. I personally have absolutely no idea how to boil water, so in the first place I admire anyone who knows how to cook, and just how much it means to him. Culinary school is his dream and he has abandoned it, but in every scene you speak that he brings it up, you can see how happy it makes him and asdfghjk bby boiiii

- His beanies asdfghjkkuytr okay okay I know I make fun of them a lot and stuff but beanies are actually are one of my few weaknesses for guys clothing lmaooo (just right behind glasses 😍)

- Just the whole thing with helping MC out (in my play-through) after getting turned into Redfield. Like, hello? he is literally not giving up until she is back? because he believes in her? eye-

So I answered an ask from my homegirl Kato a while back answering and analyzing if Noah and I would actually work out in real life and I think in a way, the same answer can answer this question.

We would break up because in some way, we are too similar. In the sense that we are both pretty introverted, kept to ourselves, a bit of bad humor and that would lead us to clash in our own ways. Thats why I believe he needs someone like I HC my MC to be. She is outgoing, helping him get out of his shell, get out and explore, she is like the light and they balance each other out. If I were to date Noah we would just both fall into one side of the balance xDD

That being said I still loVE ma BaBY BOOOiiii nOahhhh but I think he would make a much much muuuuuch better couple with someone like MC :33 as I said, they are soulmatessss 🤧

Hello!! I would love to share marker tips!! I love markers asdfghj for those who missed the last post refrenced, you can check it out here!

I added some pictures to try and elaborate on what I mean on some parts so the post got kind of long so I'm going to put it under a cut! I'll dive right into marker tips though, and there are pictures! It's colorful and fun I promise!

So you know that post that goes around every once in a while about refilling dried alcohol markers with alcohol to refresh them? I've never tried it, it probably works, however the post never mentions how that will delude your markers color over time which is important to note and be aware of.

Also, I wouldn't do the above with Copics. Copics are refillable and you're better off buying a refill pack and refilling your Copic. Each refill can refill a marker multiple times so they're worth the money I think.

OH! Also! Weird tip related to this! The reason I've never tried the alcohol tip is because I keep all my dying (non Copic) markers because they have a different texture then full ones. It can be useful at times. While not everyone has need for that kind of texture nor likes it, I personally find it very helpful.

Marker companies sell colorless blenders. I have no idea how they work. I am sorry.

To repeat from the last post (linked above) having a portable palette I think is really key. It's really a life saver especially when you have a big marker collection. It's really useful when trying to color match or decide what colors to use to shade, I think, even if different papers will reflect the colors a little differently. It at least puts you in the right ballpark. I use index cards sorted by color type with the names and numbers beside them and they look like this:

(One last tip related to the cards, I've found having the colors all down the one side is helpful since you can hold the colors right up next to whatever your trying to look at.)

(Also, I do recommend prioritizing buying earth/skin tones as you can see by my collection asdfghj while you can blend and mix markers to get colors you don't have, you cannot usually get these tones that way)

With markers, different papers have different levels of bleed out from the marker stroke. What I mean is like, when you draw a line, because the markers are wet, it will inevitably spread a bit. Some papers this is a very small bleed that you won't really notice. On others it'll be massive. This is less the fault of the marker and more so the paper though different marker formulas will act differently on the same paper. It's just something to be aware of and adjust to. For some people that's being picky about paper types to avoid bleed out, for people like me it's just testing and adjusting to the paper.

I feel like people tend to not think they can color mix with markers so you need every color ever to get the tone you want, but that's definitely not the case. While some people might not like the look, you can overlay colors to achieve colors that you don't have a marker for. I do this a lot when it comes to subduing brighter tones or, notably, with Thrall Warcrafts skintone where I have to layer multiple different greens on top of each other to get his skintone (see as follows). The background is also two colors laid over each other, that's how it got that effect:

It's really worth getting to know how your markers play together because you can get some really good effects from how they'll delude and interact with one another on the page. Also, markers are wet and if you work fast you can take advantage of that wetness for blending and mixing purposes.

Also, remembering that this is a wet medium, if you use marker on top of watercolor or gouache or something...yes it will reactivate the watercolor or gouache. Neither paint cares that its alcohol and not water. (I haven't messed up projects forgetting about this fact what are you talking about asdfghjkl)

Speaking of shading and rendering, I have some Thoughts. I notice a lot of people with marker will only use like colors to shade or they'll continuously layer the same color until they get a darker shade. Neither of these techniques is wrong, of course, but if you find yourself doing this and unhappy with the color pay off, I want to suggest...not doing that. I'm going to sound contradicting, but you can treat markers a bit like painting (I know I know I said I don't like painting but roll with me a minute sdfghjk). In the image above you can see some of this, especially in the fur which has a mix of purple, gray, and blue in it but here's another example. This is a traditional drawing I did of V in 2021 and I used some purples and blues in the deep shadows of his face, some of which are deluded by overlaying his skin tone again:

Also just...I recommend not using grays or blacks for shading in color unless what your shading is gray I guess but even gray I don't often shade with gray. This is less a personal tip and more a 'they tell you this in art classes' thing. Of course, everyone's going to do what they want to do but, something to consider for anyone using that technique who's unhappy with the color payoff.
