ARCH ENEMY's twelfth studio album, "Blood Dynasty", will arrive on March 28, 2025 via Century Media Records.
ARCH ENEMY's 2024 European co-headline tour, "Rising From The North", with IN FLAMES, wrapped up on November 5 in Helsinki, Finland.
ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott stated about "Blood Dynasty": "This new album pushes the boundaries of what we've done before — it's everything you've come to expect from this band, and then some! We can't wait for you to hear it and feel the energy we've poured into every track. Welcome to the 'Blood Dynasty'!"
Next to the limited deluxe editions that feature two exclusive bonus tracks, fans can direct their attention to the limited liquid blood vinyl that is exclusively available in the band stores and limited to 666 copies.
Issued in July 2024, the "Dream Stealer" single marked ARCH ENEMY's first new music since the release of the "Deceivers" album, which came out in August 2022.
"Dream Stealer" was mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios. The accompanying music video was directed and produced by Patric Ullaeus.
Three months ago, Amott told Pulp Magazine about "Dream Stealer" and ARCH ENEMY's plans for new music: "We've been staying busy for sure and are really focused on writing and recording new stuff in between the touring we're doing. I'm kind of always coming up with new musical and lyrical ideas though — I just keep going as it's what I enjoy doing anyway. Making music is a natural process, and it's pretty much a daily thing, so it can be hard to pinpoint exactly when everything was conceived. I do, however, actually remember that the initial seed for 'Dream Stealer' was written during a songwriting session I did with Daniel [Erlandsson, drums] in Los Angeles, California, two years ago, and then it's been rearranged and updated a lot till it reached its final state that you're now hearing."
Asked if it was a conscious decision to go back to the "classic ARCH ENEMY" direction and approach with "Dream Stealer", Amott said: "I've seen some seriously great feedback from the fans, and that's always very encouraging, of course. Personally, I don't know if I’d necessarily say 'Dream Stealer' is a throwback to the sound of the past, but I get what they mean — the song has the energy and speed that is very exciting and infectious. Maybe there is a hint of vintage ARCH ENEMY in there, and why not? I'm looking forward to playing it live on stage — I think it is going to be intense as hell."
ARCH ENEMY played its first concert with new guitarist Joey Concepcion on April 24, 2024 at Musinsa Garage in Seoul, South Korea. The show was part of ARCH ENEMY's 2024 Asian tour.
Last December, ARCH ENEMY announced that it had "amicably" parted ways with longtime guitarist Jeff Loomis.
Jeff, who was the main songwriter in his previous group, NEVERMORE, joined ARCH ENEMY in late 2014, but was not involved in the writing for the latter act's last two albums, 2017's "Will To Power" and the aforementioned "Deceivers".

spotify wrapped
hey kate,
it's been a while! i am sorry for that but uni has been busy. anyway yesterday last week spotify wrapped came out and i thought i could maybe examine mine more closely. see what memories are connected to the music in it and just tell you about my year through the music i listened to.
my top 5 genre this year was Neue Neue Deutsche Welle, which i find really interesting because growing up i loved Neue Deutsche Welle. Nancy Kilpatrick in the The Goth Bible , Neue Deutsche Welle or short NDW is "is a genre of west German rock music originally derived from post punk and new wave music with electronic influences". according to my mom it is the sound of her youth. according to me it is the sound of those 80s music documentaries i love watching. one of the most globally famous songs from this genre is without a doubt this one. however it is probably not the only one you know. anyways i am getting distracted. Neue Neue Deutsche Welle is hard to define but i will try my best for you. it seems pretty similar to the 80s genre, however there sometimes seems to be bigger emphasis on using synth and the vibe of the songs is overall gloomier. whether that is an accurate description or not, you should decide for yourself. what i can say for sure is that to me, this genre has been a huge part of my year. when i would genuinely want to listen to music and not just have something playing in the background this is the type of music i would go for. artists like mia morgan, die tränen and modular were the soundtrack of m 2023. futhermore i wanted to tell you about this genre as it is crucial to one of my favorite memories from this year. as you can probably tell from my brief mentioning of a few Neue Neue Deutsche Welle artists, is that mia morgan is one of them. attending her show together just last month was so much fun and so was finding new artists in the genre. both her support artists were new discoveries, although i had heard of them i had just never taken the time to actually go and listen to them.
"this year listening took you places!", is what it says on the next slide of the spotify wrapped and that is certainly true. a little spoiler but the day i listened to the most music in 2023 was the day i was travelling back to ireland after the maneskin concert. so here's a list of all the places i saw this year because of concerts (also funnily enough, the place spotify is saying listens just like me is not included):
luxembourg (twice)
düsseldorf (three times, unfortunately)
dresden
it might not seem like a lot of places, but i am always glad for getting to travel and see my favorite artists in concert and hear my favorite songs.
this was fortunately also the case for my top song kein gott, kein staat nur du by kraftklub ft. mia morgan. this song was already my top song last year (despite the fact it came out 32 days before the spotify wrapped cutoff) so i would say it's real love. i saw kraftklub live only two times this year (one of those times was the show in dresden) and was thus fortunate enough to hear my favorite song live at both of those shows. at one of the shows they brought out mia to sing her own part, at the other this was done by gwen doyln. both times are fond memories of mine.
out of my 5 top artists of the year, i saw 3 of them live this year. kraftklub, 5sos and maneskin. interestingly enough on the little clocks spotify wrapped gave us for when we listened most to our top artists it shows very clearly that i listen most to an artists just after i saw them live. i don't know what to do with that information but i am glad i have it.
lastly, for the little categories spotify gave each listener, they gave me alchemist, so the playlist curator. thus it feels only right to end this blog post with my 23 out of 23 playlist, which includes my favorite releases of the year. i might go into more detail about the songs on that playlist another time, but for now this seems enough.

Valenciennes, 25 April 1917
Dear Miss Annamarie! So the cup has not passed me by. So now I live here in a castle near Valenciennes in the middle of an old park and draw from the well of my experience to train young fighter pilots. It's a lot of work, because we have about 80 apprentices here now. I take great comfort in the fact that my "headmaster", Hauptmann Zander, whom I already know as a brave comrade-in-arms from his Jagdstaffel 1, is a competent sportsman and also a great guy in other respects; in his civilian capacity, by the way, he is based in Düsseldorf. Soon Höhndorf will come here as a teacher - then we'll fly to the front every now and then. You see: I have come to terms with my situation to some extent. Only the sense of the whole enterprise is not yet quite clear to me. Back then, we just sat down in the single-seater and started shooting - and lo and behold: it worked. Today we have to retrain diligently. I mean: Either someone has what it takes to be a capable fighter pilot, in which case he can do it without "retraining" - or he doesn't have it, in which case the school can't teach him either. But this may be a view that was true at the time when only people of passion turned to the new fighter aviation; with the present mass influx, a sharp and ruthless selection must now take place, and this seems to me the most important part of my tasks. When I have finished my schoolmaster's work in the evening, I listen on the telephone to what Richthofen and his squires have done during the day, and platonically intoxicate myself with their successes. I fly over to Richthofen as often as I can - it is always a pleasure to be with Staffel 11; there is the same spirit and passion there as in the best times with Boelcke. It is great to see Richthofen with his Moritz. That is his intimate, but a four-legged one. He once bought him as a cute little lap dog somewhere in Belgium for 5 marks. Moritz then took part in the World War, inseparable from his master, was also with us in Russia, and in the meantime has become a giant beast that undoubtedly bears a certain resemblance to an Ulm Mastiff. His master, however, firmly claims that Moritz has a purebred pedigree. Richthofen loves his Moritz dearly, and lately he also loves my brother Gerhard because he recently cured him of something. Moritz is not really my cup of tea, but you mustn't let that be noticed if you don't want to offend the good Richthofen. My case is the German Pointer and even more so the Dachshund, this droll humourist and idiosyncratic character. The least I like the St. Bernard, whom I know well enough from Switzerland; when he is transplanted from his element, the mountains, to the lowlands, he becomes a boring, grumpy, asthmatic patron - he always seems to me like some fat, saturated, aloof banker in a club chair. By the way, Gerhard also massaged my arm back into shape. I've always said that a person with something wrong is an ass if he doesn't go straight to a competent vet. I was just interrupted, Richthofen came to me (he had quickly bagged No. 47 on the way) and asked me to take over as his replacement during his upcoming vacation. He is at a loss as to who he should give this to because the two best in his Staffel are currently away: Voss, who already has 24 victories and the Pour le mérite, is on vacation himself, and Schäfer, who shot down 23 opponents in barely two months, has just been taken away from him to lead another squadron. Richthofen can't wait for Voss's return because he needs to go on vacation as soon as possible - they want to get him to safety; It's similar to when Boelcke was sent to Turkey. You can imagine how tempting Richthofen's request is for me. What could be more wonderful than being able to lead this select squadron for a few weeks?! But nothing will probably come of it - they won't let me leave here. Brother Martin writes enthusiastically about his bombing missions in Russia. But I have to sit aside and this time I can only greet you as Your poor schoolmaster

For the "I'm not from the US", numbers 1, 4, 6, 11, 15, 23 and 29 please ! :D
Let’s goo! :D I’m answering for both the country I’m currently living in an the country I’m from. ;)
1. favourite place in your country?
Hm... That would be my home in the area of Düsseldorf. I like living here quite a lot.
In France its definitvely Strasbourg, especially in the winter.
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
I answered “Bratkartoffeln” on the last one. This time, I’m going with “Käsekuchen”. It’s a lighter version of cheesecake. Germans really know their cake. ^^
I love quiche in every form: zucchini, tomato, cheese. Just feed me quiche for the rest of my life please.
6. most hated song in your native language?
Well... I guess “Ein Stern”? Its not THE worst, but its definitively the worst song being played every time Germans get drunk and want to party.
Its been a while since I’ve heard bad french songs (mostly because I don’t listen to the radio and don’t go out of my way to hear bad french songs). I’m going with René la Taupe, because its the first thing that came to mind.
11. favourite native writer/poet?
Heinrich Heine! Great poet.
Daniel Pennac is my favorite author period. I love his style very much. He is closely followed by Jean Teulé, which I would not recommend for everyone.
15. a saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get?
I don’t know many memes or jokes from Germany, but, for me, bio is trash.
Same thing for France I guess in the mean time: Hello? You don’t have shampoo? You’re a woman and don’t have shampoo? Helloo?? Its like if you are a woman and don’t have hair.”
23. which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one in your country?
Beer. Very suprising I know.
Wine. The surprises keep on comming.
29. does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?
Düsseldorf and Cologne have beef actually, being two important cities in the region. I’ve only lived in Düsseldorf but many people have told me that Cologne is simply better. All in all, I don’t want to wake up tomorrow with a dagger in my back so Düsseldorf ftw I guess.
In France, Moselle and Alsace have beef. But Alsace is a beautiful region where it doesn’t rain all the time so no contest here.

MAY 2019 GOLD STAR MEDIA SCHEDULES & REVIEW
Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of May 31 KST:
A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly total).
A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on their monthly schedule.
Threads do not have to take place directly during an important date listed on the schedule, but must be related to what the muse is mentioned to be doing in the paragraph explaining their schedule/the company’s schedule for the month and/or their thoughts on the mentioned activities or lack thereof.
These schedules may be updated throughout the month if new information needs to be added.
Overall Company
Most of Gold Star’s artists are busy this month, meaning a good boost to the start of second quarter profits. This is good since Gold Star is at the top right now and intends to keep it that way. Idols under the company will have some early fittings with stylists for the planned company concert in a few months, but the purpose is mostly to make sure the initial design plans will be flattering to everyone
Important dates
Various dates: Early company concert fittings.
Gold Star Soloist 1
One festival is all she has on the public schedule front this month, but behind the scenes, plans are being finalized for the release of her next album, which means a lot of meetings and studio time as songs get approved and rejected and concepts fall into place to tie everything together.
Important dates:
May 3: Yonsei University Festival performance (also performing: Lipstick, Dimensions Soloist 1, Femme Fatale, and Lucid).
Gold Star Soloist 2
Comeback preparations continue for her first album in quite a while. Fans are growing restless, but she’s only been given the go ahead to tease a possible comeback so far, not confirm it, so Gold Star hopes her two performances this month will tie them over until her approaching solo concert and her long awaited comeback.
Important dates:
May 4: Performance at K-Pop Big Five Concert at Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf, Germany (also performing: Element and Silhouette).
May 17: Sungkyunkwan University Festival performance (also performing: WISH).
Gold Star Soloist 3
This month, he’ll be continuing the Asia leg of his tour in Thailand and Bangkok. Management is already talking about a late summer comeback in the midst of his touring, though nothing is completely set in stone yet.
Important dates:
May 11: I COLOR U concert at The Bazaar Theater in Bangkok, Thailand.
May 26: I COLOR U concert at Asakusa Bashi Hulic Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
May 31: Korea University Festival performance (also performing: Aria and Femme Fatale).
Silhouette
Japanese tour prep continues this month as well as very early recordings for the Japanese album they’re slated to release in the third quarter of the year. Silhouette is, as always, a popular choice for university festival season due to their popularity with college-aged students, so they’ve been scheduled for several of those as well.
Important dates:
May 4: Performance at K-Pop Big Five Concert at Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf, Germany (also performing: Gold Star Soloist 2 and Element).
May 13: Namseoul University Festival performance.
May 17: Konkuk University Festival performance (also performing: Femme Fatale).
May 24: Ajou University Festival performance.
Aria
This month, Aria will be recording their special July comeback single. There isn’t a lot of pressure for the comeback to deliver monetarily since it’s more of a release to keep Aria present in the music scene and Gold Star is doing very well financially right now. Their only public schedule is a university festival performance, but members are encouraged to keep in touch with fans and pursue individual activities to keep Aria’s brand power up.
Important dates:
May 31: Korea University Festival performance (also performing: Femme Fatale and Gold Star Soloist 3).
Origin
Origin begins the month in the US for the Billboard Music Awards before returning to Seoul to complete their promotional activities for this comeback, including fan signs and a lot of long music show pre-recordings and live shows. They’ll be pre-recording performances for the last week and a half or so of their music show promotions as well before they leave to return to the US on the morning of the 14th to kick off their stadium tour. They’re scheduled for a lot of miscellaneous promo recording between their concert dates, too, and their next album is already in the works as well as preparations for their upcoming fan meetings in Seoul and Busan next month.
Important dates:
May 1: Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
May 7: Pre-recording performance for The Voice (to be aired May 21).
May 9: Fansign in Yangcheon, Seoul.
May 10: Fansign in Mapo, Seoul.
May 11: Fansign in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
May 12: Fansign in Mapo, Seoul.
May 15: Good Morning America Summer Concert Series performance in Central park in New York, NY, USA.
May 15: Appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (to be aired: May 15 and May 17).
May 18: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA, USA.
May 19: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA, USA.
May 25: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL, USA.
May 26: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL, USA.
May 26: End of music show promotions.
May 31: Appearance on Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Finals.
Impulse
The members will be in Japan from May 11 to May 22 for their tour and some light Japanese promotions like magazine interviews and some networking within the Japanese industry. After they return, they go straight into beginning to prepare and record for their summer comeback album.
Important dates:
May 14: Road 2 U tour concert at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan.
May 15: Road 2 U tour concert at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan.
May 18: Road 2 U tour concert at Kobe World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan.
May 19: Road 2 U tour concert at Kobe World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan.
Fuse
Most of the month is spent on their North American tour, but the members will return to Seoul for a short time from May 17 to May 23 to perform at the 2019 Dream Concert. During that time, they’ll also be in the studio recording final touches on the Japanese single “Sayonara” they’re releasing next month and recording some vocals for their summer Korean comeback.
Important dates:
May 9: Redmare tour concert at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
May 10: Redmare tour concert at The Theatre at Grand Prairie in Dallas, TX, USA.
May 12: Redmare tour concert at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
May 15: Redmare tour concert at Filmore Miami Beach in Miami, Florida, USA.
May 18: Performance at 2019 Dream Concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul, South Korea (also attending: CHARM, 7ROPHY)
May 24: Redmare tour concert at Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Il, USA.
May 26: Redmare tour concert at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ, USA.
May 28: Redmare tour concert at Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Canada.
May 30: Redmare tour concert at PNE Forum in Vancouver, Canada.
Element
The pressure for their comeback this month to perform well is incredibly clear because, as it stands, a comeback takes more more from the company than it gives back to them and Gold Star can only milk their international fanbases with occasional concerts so much. Everyone, including managers and coordis, know that the stakes are high and that this single needs to show some sign of improvement within the domestic market.
Important dates:
May 4: Performance at K-Pop Big Five Concert at Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf, Germany (also performing: Gold Star Soloist 2 and Silhouette).
May 15: Release of “Bomb Bomb” & showcase, promotions continue until June 15.
May 17: Guesting on KBS Cool FM radio show.
May 20: Guesting on Arirang Radio Super K-Pop radio show.
May 26: Performance at Hallyu PopFest Singapore (also performing: 7ROPHY, Alien, and Knight).
May 27: Guesting on Arirang Radio Sound K radio show.
Femme Fatale
Femme Fatale are one of the most in-demand groups for this year’s spring university festivals and despite Gold Star’s approach of keeping an exclusive image for the group thus far, the company has taken advantage of the high demand and booked the group for a number of festivals to remind the general public that might not already be fans of their existence before their comeback next month. Behind the scenes, this is the last month for recording for the album and learning choreography.
Important dates:
May 3: Yonsei University Festival performance (also performing: Lipstick, Gold Star Soloist 1, Dimensions Soloist 1, and Lucid).
May 17: Konkuk University Festival performance (also performing: Silhouette).
May 23: Hanyang University Festival performance (also performing: Lucid).
May 31: Korea University Festival performance (also performing: Aria and Gold Star Soloist 3).

💚 BAP in Düsseldorf - Forever with Babyz tour 09.12.2018 💚
I know this post has been very late, but I was sick and made a thread on twitter too!
We went to Germany the day of the concert, my mom was travelling with my sis and I and I also met one of my closest friends at the venue and it was so fun on our way to the hall and the concert. The next day we also went to the Xmas market (quiet boring SKDJKSJDK) and I will never forget this, but when I went to buy waffles and pancakes at this Turkish place, they also gave free food to homeless people (bless them omg)
CONCERT Tickets: about 77 euro’s and hotels 30 euro’s pp c:

Concert This concert, was honestly SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOD. Theyre even better irl than seeing them on youtube, I couldnt believe my eyes and ears wow. Thank you for the great time ;;;
I have been following BAP since predebut and I never got the chance to see them live and knew this would be my last time and whatever happend I had to see my faves ;; Ive so many great memories with them, and apart from their amazing music, they're amazing people too and they went through so much :( their music helped me through a lot ;;
I had silver seats, but the venue was so empty I was front row in silver GA and Babys are one of the most mature fans I have ever seen, because nobody pushed me :o Even tall people gave me their spot ;;; so sweet! But tbh the empty venue made me very very sad, because they used to be damn huge and got sold out venues (even bigger than this one) but nobody really cared bc BAP was having fun with their loyal fans <3
BAP had made eco bags they would distribute to fans (there was a lottery I think?) (THIS IS SO ADORABLE MAN) And before the encore they also showed handwritten letters, which made me cry bc they talked about their hardship too.. :(
During the MC fans chanted SARANGHAE, and daehyun was like ‘wow your Korean is SO GOOD’ LMFAO and fans also chanted Johnny Depp, I have no IDEA why SJDKSJD maybe its a German thing? And also pls be quiet during MCs bc BAP couldn't rly talk and asked certain fans to be quiet too ;; and if you wanna bring a cardboard, please think about other peoples view..
Anyways, during the MC Zelo also said he didn't had his contract anymore and they didnt plan to go Europe but desperately wanted to see us ;; They didnt want to leave for encore either, and they did it TWICE. I cried so much during goodbye, because it felt like BAPs last concert ever. But I trust BAP a lot and will support every decision by them ;; Youngjae also called Yongguk during the encore and it was honestly so beautiful to sing goodbye with them and the fans and seeing their old videos on the background ;; I also had a lightstick btw!!! and the green ocean was honestly beautiful ;;
During this concert, I rather paid attention to BAP than having fun, I wanted to have memories and my view... wow I would never exchange it for seats, I could see them so damn well and oh my god they’re so talented!! The vocals, the raps and the dance moves, they deserve so damn much.. Im so happy with this setlist bc it had SO SO SO MANY old songs ;;;
Thank you, Yongguk, Himchan, Youngjae, Daehyung, Jongup and Zelo for the amazing time, I will be waiting for your next step and concert <3

Jones Knows: Back second-half goals for Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig at 4/1 | Football News
Our tipster is back; so is Super 6 with a Bundesliga twist this week…£50,000 is up for grabs!
Last Updated: 15/05/20 3:56pm
Borussia Dortmund are backed to put on a second-half show
The return of the Bundesliga has tempted our tipster Jones Knows out of his betting lockdown and he’s got eyes on a 4/1 shot this weekend.
Anyone else tired of watching sport knowing how it’s going to end? Yes, ‘Agueroooo’ scores. Europe produce a Miracle at Medinah. Gareth Southgate misses that penalty. I’m over the re-runs now.
Knowing the result is not why we fell in love with this great game.
Of course, the lack of our traditional means of entertainment is truly put into perspective by the unrepresented and worrying times we find ourselves in.
But, in the distance, there is a beacon of light in the form of the Bundesliga.
The oasis in the desert where we can sip on a drop of hope and respite from our strange world. It’s something to grasp for.
It’s not perfect and might not return as the game we once knew but, boy, it’s nice to crack open the betting brain, get the juices flowing and analyse football matches not knowing how they’re going to end.
The unpredictability. How I’ve missed you. I’ll never take you for granted again.
Although it’s been a while, remember, whatever I tip, I back. We’re in this together.
1pt on the second half to produce the most goals in Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke & RB Leipzig vs Freiburg (4/1 with Sky Bet) – bet here!
The way my brain looks at the challenge of making profitable betting decisions centres on my ability of utilising knowledge of a certain subject while backing those thought processes up with data analysis. Once you’ve combined the two to present the possibility of that scenario occurring you’ve then got to analyse whether the level of probability against the odds offered by the bookmaker in question. Still with me?
Sticking to that won’t put you far wrong, but we’re in uncharted waters here. My basic knowledge of the Bundesliga gives me no edge like it would with the Premier League and we’re also dealing with football not in the same form. No matter how much my punting juices are racing, the current situation is tempering my enthusiasm for a confident wager.
You can follow all the Bundesliga action live on skysports.com. Get your fix with minute-by-minute coverage and reports from the weekend’s biggest games, starting with the Revierderby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke on Saturday, kick-off at 2.30pm.
Playing behind closed doors won’t impact the game as much as people would like think though. Having a fierce competitive nature is what has got most professional footballers to the top – as long there is three points on the line and their reputations are on show to the watching world, then expect usual levels of bite in these matches, despite the eerie atmosphere.
It’s proven very difficult to have a strong view in terms of predicting outcomes of matches when there are so many unknowns. Will the form hold up? I’m going to be swerving the result markets for a few weeks yet in order to understand the pattern of the matches and to collate some new data to analyse.
My main area of concern for trusting the previous form before the suspension is regarding the general fitness of players and their ability to perform to their optimum.
Players have been back training for over a month with all having to adhere to the 11-point list of guidelines regarding social distancing handed down from the DFL. Some players have trained in masks, players haven’t been allowed to be put into 11 vs 11 match scenarios and even cardboard cut-outs have been used in some sessions to simulate opponents.
Bundesliga returns on Saturday – but with a difference
Just from a simple physiological perspective, players aren’t going to be fully prepared or anywhere near ‘football fit’ enough to maintain performance levels for 90 minutes.
This is the basis of my angle for this weekend.
The lack of match practice factor has opened my eyes up to a theory that these first few matches of the Bundesliga will produce lots of action in the final stages of games as players, despite the introduction of the five substitutes rule, will begin to mentally and physically tire.
This should result in defensive mistakes and more goalscoring opportunities late on.
Finding a market to exploit this, admittedly, half-baked theory, has been a challenge but Sky Bet’s offering of ‘most goals in the second half’ has got me interested with every price on every match this weekend available around Evens.
I’ll be backing that outcome in each match of every game with small stakes and I’ll take a cheeky stab at the 500/1 on offer for all nine matches to produce most goals in the second half – you’ll find the bet by scrolling through the RequestABet section.
But my main recommendation for the purpose of this column is to advise taking advantage of the 4/1 for Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke and RB Leipzig vs Freiburg both to produce the most goals in the second half in the hope the rip-roaring strike forces at Dortmund and Leipzig feast upon a host of defensive slips as the game progresses.
Both Dortmund and Leipzig, who are heavily odds-on to win this weekend, made a habit of scoring second-half goals before the season was curtailed. Of the 68 goals scored by Dortmund this season, 45 of those have come after half-time – working out at 63 per cent and Leipzig have netted 35 goals after the break, the third most in the Bundesliga behind Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Whether looking at past data really counts for much in a set of opening fixtures that could be ripe for a weird narrative is open to debate but if there is to be defensive vulnerability due to a lack of match fitness, these two attacks are suitably armed to be ruthless in their finishing.
Tread carefully though. And enjoy.

GSL Düsseldorf (d1): knap parcours van Jorre (5°).
(21-Feb-2020)
Jorre Verstraeten (°97; /-60kg; 23° WRL) : 5° (3 own)
Goe gedaan mannen ! Be proud !
Anne-Sophie Jura (°92; /-48kg; 49° WRL): out (1 own)
Ellen Salens (°96; /-48kg; 85° WRL): out (1 own)
Amber Ryheul (°98; /-52kg; 60° WRL) : out (0 own)

Coba Ritsema (1956) - 80 years young.
Jacoba Johanna (Coba) Ritsema (26 June 1876, Haarlem – 13 December 1961, Amsterdam), was a portrait painter from the Netherlands.
Jacoba, or Coba, was born in 1876 as the daughter of the book printer Coenraad Ritsema and his wife Jeanette (Jannetje) Moulijn in an artistic family with one sister and two brothers. In her family there were already a few known artists - her grandfather Jacob Ritsema was an amateur painter, her father was a lithograph and the painter and etcher Simon Moulijn was a nephew of her mother. Her brother Jacob Coenraad was studying at the Academy of Düsseldorf since his 15th year, also the age when Coba also was allowed to experience herself in the arts. However, for a girl it was not realistic to go abroad at such young age, and she was taught drawing at the Haarlemse School voor Kunstnijverheid from 1891 until 1893. Her sister Catherine tried to become a pianist (and later became violist) and her brother Johan studied lithography like his father. From 1893 until 1897 Coba studied at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam where she was taught in a special class for female artists. She was in her education a pupil of August Allebé, George Hendrik Breitner, Carel Lodewijk Dake, Fredrik Theodorus Grabijn, Jacob Ritsema (her brother), Thérèse Schwartze, and Nicolaas van der Waay. After moving back to Haarlem for a short period, she moved in 1899 to a house at Jan Luykenstraat 23 in Amsterdam, while she had her studio at the fourth floor of Singel 512. She focused herself on the still life style, and was rejected by several famous artists she had in mind as tutor - they thought they insecure Ritsema didn't need their guidance. She was a member of the Lucas Society and Arti et Amicitiae (where she was one of the first female voting members), societies around her example Thérèse Schwartze. Recognition would however follow: in 1910 she won the bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle et Internationale in Brussels, in 1912 and in 1923 she won a silver medal from the city of Amsterdam, and in 1918 she won a Royal medal given to her by Queen Wilhelmina. In 1912 the critic Albert Plasschaert mentioned the circle of friends of which Ritsema was a part to be the Amsterdamsche Joffers (Amsterdam Young ladies) - a group of young rich female artists who worked together a lot and had a joint vision on art. She became a teacher of the students Grada Jacoba Wilhelmina Boks, Lize Duyvis, Jan den Hengst, Tine Honig, Coba Surie, Hillegonga Henriëtte Tellekamp, Victoire Wirix, and Gonda Wulfse. She was not considered to be an explicit feminist, but at the same time an example of an independent woman. While focussing on still lifes and portraits, Ritsema's works were described in 1947 by critic Johan van Eikeren as if they could have been produced by a man - something that was considered to be a compliment in those years. Her work was usually well sold, although she was not such a master that she could afford to refuse to make compromises. In her portraits there is a clear difference between those of her relatives and direct connections, which are painted rather realistic, and those of models - which are usually more impressionist. Coba was close with her brother Jacob, and when he suddenly died in 1943, she took that hard - Jacob was also a painter after all, and she consulted him a lot on her work. In 1957 she won the Rembrandt prize - a prize awarded by the city of Amsterdam once every five years. At old age she remained active although her studio wasn't easy to reach for a woman at age like herself, being on the fourth floor - she had chairs placed on every floor the way up, to be able to rest on each floor while she climbed. In her final years she lived in Pro Sinecure at the Amsterdam Vondelstraat, where she died from her weak heart in 1961. She was a member of the Pulchri Studio in the Hague, as well as being a member of the Teekengenootschap Pictura. Works of Ritsema are on display in the Teylers Museum and Mesdag van Calcar, but she also had a solo exposition in the Frans Hals Museum.

TIAS - Support from Day 1
I still can’t believe four months have passed! So much has happened in these past months that it still feels unreal when I think about it now.
A lot of people have asked me why I decided to come to the Netherlands to study since it is not a common option in my country. The story began two years ago when I was traveling around Europe and decided to stop off in the Netherlands. Once I arrived in the country I was immediately amazed by the culture and environment (and of course by how tall people are here) of this beautiful country. As the rents in Amsterdam were high, my friend and I decided to rent a house in Utrecht! By that time I was already so in love with the country that I started thinking to come back here to study or live. Surprisingly, my landlord from Utrecht graduated from TIAS so she provided me with some information about the school. While she was telling me about the experiences she’d had at TIAS I could that she really enjoyed her study life here tell from the smile on her face. So when I went back to Taiwan, I spent months researching and considering my options and eventually decided to apply for TIAS and this is where all the crazy stories started.
If you ask me to use one word to describe TIAS it would be: warmth. I broke my leg right before I came here so I had to inform the school about my condition and about the fact that I might not able to attend the preparatory courses. Once they learned about my situation they got back to me right away with re-scheduled preparatory course dates and all the medical information I might need for when I arrived in Utrecht. In addition, they of course also told me not to worry about anything, they are always willing to help. They already made me feel like I was part of a family before I was even here! Luckily, with all the help from the school and my friends in Utrecht, I fully recovered.

In September we started the foundation courses, which was slightly overwhelming for me because I came from a translation and interpretation background and the teaching system is completely different to what I was used to. Therefore, I was really struggle every day. When you are still trying to figure out something you learn from class the one day, you learn something new again the day after and this is an endless cycle. I remember coming home every day feeling like my head is about to explode. However, just as the TIAS slogan- “Never Stop Asking” says: Never stop asking why and never stop asking for help. Teachers are always willing to answer your questions until you understand the topic, and classmates are always willing to share their methods of learning or class notes with you. Of course the program manager is also always there for you when you feel stressed out and need someone to talk to. I found it really useful because although the learning habit I had in my country might not apply to TIAS, through asking for help from the teachers and classmates I managed to adopt a new way of learning and I have noticed that my school performance is getting better and better now.
Although we study really hard, TIAS students also know how to have fun! Every Friday after school we gather together in the bar near school to have a drink (or more). Since our class divided into two groups (windmill and tulip) this is the perfect chance to get to know everyone. I really like this as I think this helps us bond with one another! I am also a member of the TIAS Student Association which organizes all the social events for TIAS students, such as Halloween, Sinterklaas and day trip to Düsseldorf. We make sure students get to relax every once in a while.

Someone once asked me if I made the right choice coming to study at TIAS, and I was confident in telling them, YES! Compared to other schools, TIAS is a relatively small school, which is why the members of staff can pay attention to every single student and help everyone with their personal development. For example, besides group coaching sessions, we also have individual coaching sessions to help everyone understand themselves better and to help with their personal career development. I was doubting between change management and marketing for my specialization but after an individual coaching session during which the coach helped me by letting me take some tests and analyzing the results I finally found my ideal specialization. Although the Netherland is not the best country to get tan, I really like the culture, people and environment here. I am also excited for the upcoming year with new specialization courses and challenges.
