‘ no matter what we do, it's probably not exactly legal. ’ (Connor to Hank? Maybe their dystopian world kinda thing?)
Various Things
He was getting too old for this. Running around, dodging the law, trying to hide an android. Not to mention avoid any rogue androids that wanted to kill humans. It didn't seem to matter to them whether you were on their side or not.
It was a game of strategy, and he was not really on board to play.
He watches as Sumo runs around looking for a spot to go to the bathroom. They had made a pit stop at a gas station -- one which appeared to have been evacuated from all the turmoil in Detroit. They needed gas, and they could also do with some food, so now the questions was, do they break in?
Tumblr media
Hank sighs, stepping off of the car to go to the trunk. He opens it, rummaging for a moment before pulling out the tire iron. "I guess we're breaking and entering. At least no one's home..." he smirks at Connor before approaching the front door. He would smash the glass so they could get it unlocked and get inside.

"If you say your life isn't worth anything, I swear Connor..." He shoots him a glare, shutting down that thought where it stood. As far as Hank was concerned, Connor was more human than a lot of humans these days. He actually had a personality, a brain in his skull. Even if it was all 0's and 1's, it didn't matter. He was human.
A drawn out sigh, "I mean...I know of some people, I have some connections around and outside the city, so there's a chance we could get you some form of ID. For the time being though, we don't have anything but a story in case we run into soldiers. I'm not going to be able to stop them from asking questions or trying to examine us if they want to though..." If it came to that. If they scanned Connor and found he was an android....He wasn't sure what he'd do but it wasn't going to end well either way.
He turned down the street, heading for the back roads out of the city. The highways and major roads wouldn't work. "And we are partners, Connor. Trust me, I wouldn't be here today without you...several times over." There was a brief smile that crossed his face. He was grateful for the android. Grateful for his friendship.
Hank glanced towards the city center where the flashes were coming from, a deep frown forming. "Explosions....They're probably trying to shut the androids down by violent force...." he sighed, shaking his head, "Damn pricks...They should have listened..." Humanity truly was fickle.
The car was running and Hank stepped back out to look back towards the house. He was going to run in and grab him if he didn't come out. Thankfully, the android wandered out with a bag. He was relieved, but there was definitely a look of fear that he was trying to hide with being focused on getting them out of there.
He moved back into the car as Connor got in, buckling in and shifting the car into gear. "Do you think Kamski is behind the deviants?" Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised. That man was a complex asshole. He would likely deny it though, if anyone addressed it with him. "He's a prick, don't let him get into your head," he commented as he pulled out of the driveway and headed down the street opposite the direction the shots came from. He was hoping to avoid any conflict and to try and take the back roads out of the city, but the likelihood that they wouldn't run into any sort of trouble was unfortunately very slim.
If it wasn't androids, it would be soldiers. They probably had every road blocked, wanting to contain the androids to Detroit.
"I don't know what was the final straw, but this definitely isn't the only thing that made the deviants. Whether Kamski programmed it or not...This is something we likely would have faced sooner or later. Humanity can't cooperate with each other yet alone with something that resembles us. We're fickle things..." he sighed, "You're a good person, Connor. Don't let anyone cut you short, got it...?"
He glanced at him with a soft smile. He didn't have all the answers, but he at least could try and quelle any questioning Connor might have. Looking back ahead, his face grew serious. "So we need a story," he stated, "You don't have any ID, and if I can vouch for you with any soldiers or anything, then I will do whatever the hell I can....I have my badge, my ID...We could work it that you're my partner on the force, but you didn't have time to grab anything -- you were off duty at the time. Maybe we can work with that..."

i'm not perfect. none of us are. (perhaps some more Geralt and Jaskier. But Connor and Oliver could perhaps work too?)
Deep Convo's
"You are correct. Human's make a variety of errors in their day to day life. For a human to claim to be perfect is not a true statement. I believe it is only part of human nature to make mistakes. It is how you learn and grow," he paused, LED flashing yellow as he contemplated his own words, "...In a way, androids are similar. We strive to not make mistakes, but even so, we do have errors from time to time. Things we learn from too. Find ways to adapt to better suit humanities needs. I...suppose that is not a way I should be thinking about these things, however."

He had an error in his vision, a warning of deviancy.

Unfortunately for Oliver, Connor let him do most of the talking with the Captain. It was not that he did not try to give his input, but he was a machine, and unless asked, he wouldn't say a word. He was absorbing everything discussed though, including the Captains concerns and his reluctance to finally agree to sending them out to follow through with this plan.
He followed Oliver from the office, the LED indicator flashing yellow as he took in the instruction. Quickly he drafted up an announcement they could put out and shared it to Oliver's computer for his approval. It looked like a news article written to draw in interest, announcing a billionaire by the name of Reginald Schmidt would be moving into the area. It went on to tell a story of how the man was a famous fashion designer using androids to model all his modern clothes.
"How about this story?" he offered, "It sounds like a news article...And I could send it as a post, anonymously." He looked at Oliver and then at the screen. "I can also remove details. Specific names and career..."
"Deviancy is believed to be errors in the androids code, but the fact that it can spread is concerning." He knew that Amanda was not happy with this fact. That there was a push to find these androids and try to figure out what made them turn or be able to turn others. He would have to find these androids and detain them. The greater number they had, the greater advantage they would have to find what was infecting so many.
He looked back at Oliver, nodding in agreeance. "I believe that would be the best course of action. If we can take in even a handful of deviants, it may aid us in solving those questions of how. Do we have the capacity to use some higher end homes?" he asked, "I could be the bait -- the household android, if you will."
He was not worried about being the bait, so to speak. It would be easier for him to try and subdue them and try to capture the androids. Preferably with as little harm done to the android itself. Humans tended to shoot first, which could potentially ruin their potential to finding the root cause of the issue.

Connor had been assigned to work with one Detective Oliver Queen. He was set to meet him at the precinct, however, new orders for a case came in and he headed to the location right away. Unfortunately for the android however, he was not permitted to look over the case until the Detective arrived to sort this out.
They wanted to be sure he had the proper permissions to be there, despite Connor having every permissions within his systems. He tried to explain this, but the lead cop on scene was not listening to him. So he simply stood nearest the doorway and looked around at what he could see.
Already he could tell this crime was not ordinary. The evidence that he could see spoke volumes to the android, though he’d need the full picture in order to understand the situation in its entirety.
Tumblr media
When Oliver arrived, Connor’s attention went to the doorway, hearing the discussion in the distance. And when he appeared in the doorway, he was met with a friendly looking android. “Good evening Detective,” he began, “My name is Connor. I am the android sent by Cyberlife to work with you on this investigation. If you will allow me to proceed, I can start to analyze the scene.”

@adventures-written || A plotted Detroit Become Human starter! Sorry it took me so long!

Oliver was sitting in a beaten down chair near the window of his simple one-bedroom apartment, nursing a glass Buchanan’s Scotch Whiskey. Every now and again, he took a sip and let the flavors take over his pallet. Honey toast, spice and fruity. Not his favorite, but tonight he felt like having a glass.
Insomnia haunted him for many years now, lucky if he could get 4 hours of sleep. Tonight was not that night. Work got to him over the years, failed cases, horrid shows, and quite some family drama to go with that. His father was assumed dead after the Queen’s Gambit sunk in the ocean. As a result, his mother took her own life and his younger sister became a junky.
His phone then buzzed over the little side table next to his chair and he picked up. “Queen…” As he listened, he rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Alright, give me the address and I’ll get there in twenty minutes.”
As he arrived at the scene, he got out of his car and approached the yellow tape. “What do you got?” Oliver asked.
“An anonymous phone call reported a body.” One of the cops said.
“But it’s secluded here…” He looked around and saw another cop near the door of the abandoned house, throwing his guts out. Weak stomach, or a horrific scene. He thought. Oliver got out his credentials and showed it.
“Correct detective… Queen, it might have been a homeless person…”
“A homeless person who happens to have a phone? Do you have a number to trace back?”
The cop shook his head. “Burner and no name given.” The cop paused before looking back at Oliver. “There is someone waiting for you, an Android of Cyber Life, or so he said…”
“An android helping the case? Really?” Oliver wasn’t happy with that idea, but what could he do about it.
“He said he was your new partner.”
“I don’t have partner… Haven’t had one in ages…” He stepped through the electric yellow tape and moved closer to the house where a figure seemed to be waiting.

He knew the fighting was close to ending. The soldiers were trying to fight back, they were trying to take the androids, but clearly it was a losing battle. Hank could see what was to come from the moment this all began. Although he wanted to think the androids would have good intentions, after everything humans had done to them? He couldn't be so sure anymore.
Silently thinking, he headed into his bedroom and whipped out a DPD duffle bag. He began to rip clothes from his closet, shoving them in with haste. He grabbed some other items from drawers -- socks, underwear, deodorant and the like.
Hank didn't respond to Connor at first, too lost in his thoughts as he considered what they would need when leaving the city. He stepped past Connor, heading to his living room to grab the photo of Cole and some other things for Sumo. Treats, a bag of food. He was going to try and get out by car if he could.
Tumblr media
It was only when he heard the fear in Connor's voice that he stopped, looking at him. "Connor..." he sighed, "We can't stay here. As much as I wanna be on the androids side, things are too hostile right now. We need to leave before they start going door to door." And hopefully just taking prisoners.
"Can you go out the back door and grab the red gas can out there -- we're gunna try taking the car."

@adventures-written small plotted starter?
Connor followed Hank into his home. “Lieutenant?” There was no response from Hank, but Connor was patient and waited. It happened often that the lieutenant didn’t reply instantly. It was when the silence continued and the older man started to go through his stuff.
Tumblr media
There was this strange feeling brewing inside of him, which he couldn’t place. Which was funny, he could recognize it in others but not in himself? “Lieutenant?” The android tried again. “What are you doing? Why are you packing? Is it because the humans lost?” Many questions came to the surface. RK800, Connor… He always asked a lot of questions, even more when he was with Hank. All of this made his LED flash from yellow to blue and back to yellow.
It was a habit to keep calling Hank, Lieutenant, even when he basically lost his job the moment Detroit fell to the androids. “Are we leaving, Lieutenant?” Fear… Connor was feeling fear, he fell it a few times, often when Hank was in a life-threatening situation. He couldn’t place it back then either, now he knew a little better.

Hank was shoving some food -- mostly snacks -- into a few bags when Connor came back in. "Shit..." he cursed, heading towards the front door with the door. He had to get the car packed now. "Go through my closet -- there's some smaller stuff in there. It'll probably still be big on ya, but it's stuff from years ago when I was...smaller.." More fit, anyway.
He stepped outside and to his car, opening the trunk and shoving food, dog food, and the gas can in there. He headed back inside to grab the duffle bag and get Sumo ready with his collar and leash. "Come on boy, we gotta go..." he said, giving the dog a good scratch. Sumo might be a big lug, but even he seemed to know something was wrong. He whined and licked at Hank's hands. "I know boy, I know...."
He stepped back towards the bedroom. "I'm going to get Sumo into the car and start it up. Don't take too long," he told him before heading back outside. He opened the back door to the car and Sumo climbed right in, laying across the back seat. He closed the door and came to toss the bag in the trunk before closing it.
Tumblr media
He could hear gun fire a couple blocks away now, causing him to pause. "Shit..." he cursed, moving to the drivers seat to start it up. Connor better hurry....

Looking at Oliver, he watched him for a moment, listening to him. A small smile stayed on his features and he nodded. He understood what he meant about having your own thoughts, thinking how you wanted to, but that wasn't allowed for androids. That was deviancy. It was the very thing he was out here to prevent, and if he was allowed to have deviancy, then why couldn't other androids have it as well?
Amanda would likely scold him later for this.
Connor's smile faded as Oliver asked about the man that had jumped. He had been forced to stay down by the cars with the other officers. As this case was a sensitive matter, and he was an android, they did not want to risk him triggering any sort of event. From down on the pavement below, he could not hear the exchange of conversation, but he could vaguely read their lips. Piecing it together with what Oliver had told him was enough for the android to conclude what may have happened.
Tumblr media
"It is not your fault," he stated, "You did everything in your immediate capability to try and resolve the situation. It is unfortunate that it ended the way it did...I know words do not fix it, they won't take away your pain or the haunting of the moment you will likely endure, but you are not alone. There are many here at the precinct that would be happy to help you, and I know I am an android, and I am not exactly programmed as a councilor, but we are partners and I am here to lend you any help you may need."

Oliver was sitting at his desk, the precinct nearly empty as it was getting late and people were either at home or out on patrol. Earlier that day, Oliver had failed to save someone and it always got to him. It was the first time he outed it to someone, especially toward an android. For a moment, he believed that Connor would say something that that’s the reason that androids were around, to correct the human error. Nothing came. Which made Oliver look up at Connor and noticed the yellow blinking light and the pause.
What Connor said next surprised him. The way he was thinking was quite human-like, not the thoughts of the android he got to know at the beginning of their partnership. “Screw that. Think however you want to think. I don’t need someone who thinks like every other android out there. Be you…” He got up from his desk. Oliver liked this. Connor forming his own personality. Deviants weren’t so bad, not many were. Just like every human needed to be judged individually, so did Androids these days. “Do you think I could have saved him?”
They had a call that there was a jumper nearby, and he and Connor went over there. Since it was a human, Oliver was ordered to take care of it as he didn’t respond well to androids trying to change his mind. Oliver said the wrong thing, unintentionally, but that became the reason for the man to jump off.

"They don't harm the home owners, even when they are home. They try to target places where the recipient is absent from the home -- on vacation or away for the day at work. They target upper-class homes, which likely have more valuables for them to take. If they encounter an android in the home, however, they have been known to take it with them..." "Androids claim that it is emotion they feel, but it's not true. It's a simple error in their code. Something causing them to act irrationally, like a virus. Androids aren't programmed to have emotions," he stated again more clearly, "And perhaps the android here assumed chopping the body up would be easier to hide in transport. Maybe he didn't want to walk down the street carrying a whole man -- that would be seen as suspicious..."
But then, why hadn't he finished?
Tumblr media
He saw some old pictures, the victim and a young woman. Daughter, perhaps? Mid-20s. The photo was relatively new, though the frame was broken. "Did our victim have any family that would have been concerned for his living situation?" he glanced back at Oliver.
Once Connor had his permission to proceed, the android stepped inside immediately. He looked around at the immediate area where the body was, scanning the room and locating several points of interest. Firstly, he went to the body and knelt down. The head was still attached to the torso, albeit loosely. Someone had been cutting it with precision. No issue going through flesh and bone, making the cut clean -- until they stopped just shy of going all the way through.
The stab wounds were analyzed next. 32 stab wounds were added up, which gave a similar analysis to Oliver. Was this rage? "Deviants didn't have rage -- this would be an error in the androids programming," he stated simply. Looking at the other areas where the limbs were previously attached, he noted that each cut was also cleanly done, but they were all done after the man was deceased.
Tumblr media
Standing from the body, he stepped over to one of the limbs to inspect it. "The limbs were removed after the victim was already dead," he stated, "Perhaps the android found this to be the best case scenario. Hide the evidence of the crime and no one would know..." Definitely a faulty android.
