End of Year 5 Updates
Took me a while to write this up, whoops. It was a very hard year for the pack, so there’s quite a bit. Anyway, it’s here now!
Sitka Hailstorm passed away at the beginning of summer. Her loss was very hard on the pack, as she was the only one who really stood up to Marion.
Nettle Littlecreek died not long after, leaving Sortia Stormheart to take his place as herbalist.
Two loners, Stella Icebrook and Dune, joined around the same time.
The mystery pup continued being... well, mysterious. The pack named him Fisher.
Breeze Winterborn had one pup, Hoot. His father is unknown.
Honey and Cedar Lostwood also had a litter. Two pups survived: Maple and Pinecone.
At the end of summer, a wildfire temporarily scattered the pack. No one was badly injured, and several of the wolves were guided back by strangers from neighboring packs. Fisher helped save some of the wolves, and joined the pack after.
After the fire, Ryker and Amara Lostwood’s relationship hit a rough patch, as they got into a fight about survival strategies for future disasters and how to keep their packmates safe. They have been avoiding each other.
On the other hand, surviving the fire gave Magpie Hailstorm the courage to confess her feelings to Finch Elkhunt. They are now mates, keeping Finch’s surname.
Morgan Beaverpelt died. Her role as a chaser was filled by Sequoia Hailstorm.
Hawthorn Greymist died as well. Stella took his role as a pupsitter.

Year 5, Heart of Spring
The Lostwood pack has found another lone pup.
The last time one was found, it was Ellie, and she was already an adolescent at the time. Her being alone, while sad, was not surprising; many packs have a custom of sending their weaker members off on their own when they reach adolescence. It’s harsh, but among smaller packs especially, it’s important to make sure that only the strongest, most beneficial wolves stay.
This time, however, the pup is far younger. No one has managed to get near him, but from what they can tell he can’t be more than a few months old. After the first sighting, Shrike began asking anyone who went out to patrol to pay extra attention to any signs of an adult wolf near the territory, but no mother has been found.
The pup is hard to spot, his mottled gray and tan fur blending into the rocky shore of the lake. He spends far too much time that close to water for a young pup, in Salmonberry’s professional opinion. He seems to know what he’s doing however, although no one else can figure out what that might be. Almost every time he’s been spotted, he is sitting at the edge of the water, his muzzle just inches above the surface. He sits as still as the boulders that line the shore, just looking into the water.
It’s only been a few days since the first sighting of him, but judging by the lack of any scent from an unknown female in the territory, he’s been alone longer than that. It’s a miracle that he hasn’t starved yet. A pup his size would struggle to take down even a rabbit, and that’s assuming that he knew how to hunt at all. He must be getting food from some other source, then.
Several of Lostwood’s wolves have tried to catch him. Cedar and the other three wolves in his hunting party tried to chase the pup down as they would a deer, but he startled and darted off to some unknown hiding spot. Sitka ran into him on the way home from a scouting trip, but she’s no longer as quick or agile as she used to be, and couldn’t follow him through the maze of brambles that he ran into. Salmonberry too has tried to lure him closer to the base so that someone can properly take care of him, but he’s avoided even her gentle encouragement.
No solution has been found yet for how best to look after this seemingly abandoned pup, but trying to help him is the first thing in a while that the whole pack has been able to agree on.
