Oh my word there’s still an LL fandom on here????!!!! I’m rereading the books after a couple years, and was a bit saddened to find that most of the fandom fell away after the series had ended (bc I actually only read the books for the first time when the entire series had been published for years), but you post regularly and reblog regularly, so yay, it seems that people are still here!!! After years of loving these books and rereading them I’d love to finally join the fandom— any blogs you’d recommend I follow, ppl who are still into LL and active at least every couple months? (I’d say ‘acgive regularly’ if I was a normal-ish person, but I’m rarely online, so I don’t mind people who post sporadically too— in fact I almost prefer that, you get me?). Anyways ahhh tldr I’m so glad other people are still obsessing over these aliens lol, like super happy :D
Hey hey, welcome to the fandom!! Yeah we're still here, it kinda gets a bit quiet now and again with all of us being busy, but the fandom is still around and kicking!
Most LL fans as far as I'm aware post about the series on their main blogs that have frequent activity, so if you don't mind following people that post any kind for a while but have something LL related now and again, this would be your option. If you wanna chat them up about the series then I would say @kip-loric @biddybaboop @simpforsix are very active and occasionally share LL art or incorrect quotes or memes!
If you are looking for LL blogs, I would say @5s-missing-eye and @apocalx post on occasion, but they're super passionate about the characters and have tons of interesting aus and headcanons and book thoughts to read through!
Kip currently has a Gem AU with the Garde that you can ask them about if you happen to know about Steven Universe, and both them and apocalx have LL OCs who are Human Garde with some detailed backstories and personalities!
I usually just follow the lorien legacies tag and find stuff from there, and once in a blue moon you get a new person come out and post some art or incorrect quotes or fanfic ideas for a while! The tag updates sporadically as well, but sometimes in the year it gets pretty frequent (like now for example since it's break for some of us in school).
If you wanna hang out with the community and have a discord, we have a tumblr fandom server here and an instagram fandom server here!
I also wanna note that though LL posts aren't frequent year round, the fandom in general is happy to discuss the series and talk about our favorite characters or what we think about the books, and there's lots of us who got things we wanna say to someone. Send over an ask or hop in DMs with a question or two or three!
This is a bit of a messy answer, but I hope it's a start and helps you meet some people from the fandom!

Lorien Legacies x Heroes of Olympus crossover where the 7 are going from California to Greece and they come over West Virginia just in time to see a HUGE alien warship blow up a mountain and they're like 'What on the tip of Olympus was that???'
So they find a bunch of (severely injured) other teenagers with superpowers and after all the 'checking they're not monsters or smt' they talk to the Garde, who are all like "You guys haven't seen the news in the last 3 weeks?" And the demigods stand there because no, none of them dares to touch a TV or phone and they had no idea the world just flipped upside down in a few days.
Bonus: One of the Loric recognizes Percy like: "Aren’t you the guy who was mysteriously kidnapped when he was twelve and made national news?" They legit thought he was one of them at some point and just really bad at hiding.

I was thinking over my personal frustrations that have been going on lately about being in the fandom as opposed to being so excited and gung-ho about LL for years, ESPECIALLY when I took several months long hiatuses from posting, and I realized
It was because I was talking to people in the fandom almost every day, about the book series or not, developed strong connections with these people, maintained them, and looked forward to something every day because there was something worth getting excited over
I was in Discord servers and Instagram chats with tons of Lorien Legacies fans who I talked to often, and it was a blast (amid occasional issues, but that's a given in small communities anyhow). I could go into a couple weeks long conversations talking about ships, and then go into another week long conversation and anime that me and someone else in the fandom like, and then back to LL
Despite my constant hiatuses and how many times I was taking breaks from making fanart or engaging in the fandom, I had friends in tight circles and we talked often and we had a lot of interests that go beyond LL because we just knew each other. We had inside jokes, we shared memes, we delved into different interests and got to infodump about them all the time
And now all of that is just.. gone.
Idk, I've been feeling less and less engaged in Lorien Legacies, but in a social kind of way. I love to write stuff for myself and make notes on the books and analyze all the neat stuff I find, but I dunno who to share that with. I feel like I'm overtalking about the books with one or two people and it's the only conversation starter I can think of, and everyone else I talk to, I do not know well enough, we're too busy to have long conversations, or it's gotten to the point where we're running out of Lorien Legacies stuff to say so we just don't talk at all.
And that's kind of the opposite of a fandom, at least in my eyes? I talked about this place being a very tight knit community because everyone knows each other, and that may be the case for some of you guys who regularly talk to other people in the fandom about LL or another shared interest like other books, anime, video games, memes, or other stuff. I feel like I'm starting to be a stranger to this place again, though. Everyone's a stranger, I don't even know who you all are outside of "Lorien Legacies fan," and every conversation I have with someone is surface level small talk. Sometimes something interesting happens, and I get a laugh or two out of it, or something exciting happens. That's it.
I was especially excited because the 13yearsoflorien project also has monthly event discord calls for people to join for this EXACT REASON: to hang out with others, get to know each other, laugh and stuff, actually bond with people and develop some sort of connection so we traverse that barrier that makes everyone a stranger to one another. But, people are busy (whether it's school or work), live in different time zones, or are not aware of the call, so it's very few people getting on and playing a couple games. I'm trying to fix the time zone thing to make sure people are able to attend, but people still get busy and cannot attend the events, or don't know it's happening in the first place
I really want to return to that initial spark of social engagement that forges bonds and makes friends and makes this fandom as close knit as it was when I first got here? Maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong angle, maybe we no longer have that ability to hang out as much, I don't know. But I do know I'm having less fun here, and every piece of fanart I make feels more like tedious work than anything passionate I'm excited to share with others (not anyone's fault I feel that way btw)

Let’s get the party started!
It’s July first, everyone, and so the festivities will begin!
This month’s prompt is “Introduce Yourselves!” Every day we’ll make a post featuring the question of the day, where you can comment or reblog with your response! You can also make your own post answering the question of the day, so please tag them with #13yearsoflorien so we can see them.
We are also posting the trivia quiz for this month, featuring questions about IAN4, Sam’s Journal, and Sarah’s Journal. If you do not have the books readily available, we have a pinned post of the book resources on our blog.
Lastly, there are plans for a daily comic parody of the Lorien Legacie series, this month on I am Number Four. Along with it will be the fanfiction recommendations, which you guys can provide via a submission form also on the pinned post. These will be posted on Mondays and Thursdays. We also have a planned event on a discord server where you can meet with other Lorien Legacies fans, so if you haven’t joined already, feel free to do so!
Happy celebrating LL fandom!

Would the fandom be more fun and engaging if we had more interactivity?
I dunno, I'm looking at both current fandom and old fandom and I think even though we're still keeping the fandom alive via content, memes, fics and art, those are just things we look at and sometimes laugh or cry with, it’s not really engaging or fun to be around. Like, we could do better.
Old LL fandom had its ties between fans and became such a close-knit community, and that was especially evident when everyone was talking to each other. While the series was going on, we had theories, book discussions, rants, reactions to the series, looking forward to new books, saying who your favorite character is, trailers by Epicreads???, etc. Lots of things we could not only see but also engage with, agreeing or disagreeing with people. There were also discussion of rebooting or adapting the series, with people making tons of episode scripts for episodes, making a bunch of fancasts, teaming up to get Netflix to pick up the series and make something out of it, fans even casting themselves into character roles and talking about how they would do the series justice, discussion of graphic novels, anime, or any sort of visual adaptation just to get us going, we had fans voice acting characters at one point. An actual fandom gathering was held once. There was a lot.
When it was just fandom, we also had a lot of community projects going around and people participating in them, rp blogs, some like shittacus and setracrap that created a lot of shenanigans, astohnymous, theory nonsense (which may or may not be correct), ship posts, etc. Part of what made the community tightly knit with everyone knowing everyone was also the result of tons and tons of “reblog if you’re a Lorien Legacies fan.” Almost every long-time blog that has an LL tag and everything has reblogged this stuff. Even URLs of the past were recorded for posterity. And recommending LL blogs to one another to follow!
And true to that result, everyone knew each other! That made fandom discussions livelier! One person doesn’t make a fandom, nor do they raise it high. It takes people, tons and tons of people, who you talk to and make content with and just have a lot of fun. Even newcomers got into the fun, some making small announcements that they’re into the series and want to follow a bunch of LL blogs, others making edit contributions right off the bat! Old Tumblr content is even backlogged right here for archival purposes, and submissions of all kinds are accepted!
Not to mention the activities and get togethers everyone did while the series was going on. There were interactive events where people drew fanart, wrote fics, reblogged their thoughts, made memes, headcanons, textposts, edits, gifsets, random stuff, got our own pendants, talked to each other, and so much more. There were events like LLCharacterweek, a Secret Santa, Lorien Legacies fic exchanges, countdown blogs until a new book releases, Lorien Legacies week, etc.
Of course, times change. Tumblr may be our community home here, but there are still ways the fandom has managed to come together. We made use of the group chat feature Tumblr had to talk to each other. We also now have a discord server where everyone’s free to join. Tons of nonsense and headcanons and theories thrive there, as done in the past. Memes too.
And the content never stopped! It didn’t die, it didn’t fade away. Look at the lorien legacies tag and you’ll see we’re still kicking and making tons of stuff! Incorrect quotes, fanart, fanfiction, edits, book thoughts, rants, fancasts, ship posts, etc. It’s all there! Even astohnymous has made an appearance once in a while. And it will always keep on coming, because we’re still here!! We even still have activities the fandom as a whole can participate in, such as the ongoings of Lorictober, and a short event called Eight Appreciation Week!
However, even though we’re still making a lot of stuff, the tag still gets regularly updated with content, and we’re out here liking and reblogging it all, it just ends there? We know each other, but we don’t really know each other. It’s like going to your favorite coffeeshop to get your daily fix, but you don’t talk to any of the patrons or employees there. You just get your morning breakfast, sit by yourself at a table, eat while doing some work, and then leave. Everyone knows who you are by face and what you order, but they aren’t your friends. They don’t hang out with you outside the coffeeshop, and vice versa.
We also aren’t really that excited about anything fandom wise. We got all the content Frey was giving us within the LL universe (until he decides to come back to it and give us a freak out), so there’s not much to look forward to. We’re asking for stuff like prequels, series adaptations, reboots, all that good stuff, but there’s no action for any of them. We kind of just sit and wait for it to happen. We’ve tried making the Netflix thing happen again and again, twice ending up with nearly falling into a scam, but otherwise there’s not a whole lot of action or support.
We have an adaptation movie by studio7entertainment on Instagram that’s going to be released June 2023, though given that it’s on Instagram, it’s not well discussed to the Tumblr community, although to be fair I don’t see people actively talking about it on Instagram either (the account has been dedicated to the project since 2020 and has several posts, QnAs, and stories discussing plans for it).
Do I have an idea to work around this?
Probably? In all honesty, I wish it was more fun to be in this fandom. Have little get togethers or talk to each other more in reblogs, asks, comments and stuff. Even talk outside of Tumblr. There is the discord server for those who have a Discord.
Do fandom projects, like how Lorictober and Eight Appreciation Week are things. Do fic exchanges, big bangs, reverse bangs, art trades, edit trades, video projects, zines, etc. Give people something fun to do, something exciting to look forward to. Make us fall in love with the characters all over again.
Talk about the series more, put our theories out there, and reblog those and say something about them. If someone has a question, someone has an answer. And it’s fun to think of theories upon theories upon theories, even after the story has ended. We’re always wondering how the story could’ve gone if this bit was fixed, if a certain event didn’t happen, if the plot holes were fixed, if the story was changed entirely, if certain characters lived, died, died in the place of another, etc. Who’s to say we don’t already have a million different AUs in the planning? And who’s to say there isn’t someone waiting for that specific AU to be brought to light?
There’s more to this fandom than simply proving the Lorien Legacies fans will never die, as small as this gathering is. There’s a charm to the fandom that we’ve seen make it different and special from most other fandoms we’ve been in. It has heart. Everyone’s nice, everyone knows each other, your mutual is your neighbor and sometimes you visit their house with a giftbag, and you stay over for dinner and a nice long get together.
We don’t have to constantly dream we’d reach for the stars and wait for something to happen. We should make this space special for us. Make our community a home you want to return to.
