headcannons ⮕ m.s
a/n: 75% boyfriend headcannons, 25% plus sized reader headcannons, but i definitely did my best !! @rainsoakedphoenix , i hope you enjoy, love 🫶🏻💓
❥ matt in the talking stage is very quick to reply, and always has something to add to the conversation. he’s flirty, but subtle about it, not wanting you to think he’s moving too fast, or give you the wrong impression.
❥ this dude is an absolute open BOOK. any question you ask him, he answers openly and honestly.
❥ he hates small talk, absolutely despises it. would rather talk about incredibly deep, philosophical things instead of a simple “how are you ?”
❥ would ask you “what are we ?” instead of just asking you out, idk man, dude’s complicated.
❥ he would not give a fuck about you being plus sized, not a single one. he likes you bc you’re a good person, and nothing else matters to him in the slightest than that.
❥ “get out of here, you’re perfect just how you are.”
❥ hands on your hips and waist when you’re out in public. i wouldn’t say he’s a fan of pda, but he isn’t one to not have a hold of you somewhere.
❥ in a more private setting ? dude is cuddly and needy as HELL. constantly holding you, whether it’s just your hand, his arm around your shoulder, standing behind you with his hands on your hips, shoulders, waist, you name it.
❥ on days where you’re insecure, he’s quick to snap you out of it. he can tell whether you need reassurance or a distraction without you even having to explain.
❥ HUGE on reading body language and tone of voice, can tell immediately if something is wrong just by the way you’re breathing.
❥ pet names for days. “baby”, “babe”, “love”, “beautiful”, “bunny” (fight me, i dare you), dude will throw in “toots” in an awful boston accent, just to make you laugh and see you roll your eyes
❥ whiny, whiny, W H I N Y. constantly asking for cuddles, kisses, hugs, scratches, everything.
❥ huge words of affirmation guy, never gets tired of hearing that you love him or your thanks for him doing something for you. essentially, he’s a giant puppy dog.
❥ always has his hand on your thigh when he’s driving oh my GOD
❥ instead of physical gifts for anniversaries, he’d give you love letters (i’m sobbing)
❥ dude is not afraid to post you anywhere, absolutely ADORES showing you off, even if it’s just of you sleeping in his lap, or an underview of you watching the tv and playing with his hair
❥ “what ? i can’t show off what’s mine ?” (kill me)
❥ supportive of you in every single aspect, not once has he ever looked at you and made you feel like you couldn’t do what you wanted
❥ lowkey possessive, but not in a toxic way ! just wants you all to himself, and gets whiny when you have to go or you have other plans and can’t come over. it’s mostly a joke, and he’d never ever do it if it actually upset you, he just truly does want you around all of the time.
❥ HUGE on setting boundaries early in the relationship, wants to know your ‘hell yes’s and ‘hell no’s IMMEDIATELY
❥ says “i love you” first, no ifs, ands or buts.
❥ “i love you, ya know ?”
❥ is blushing the entire time he’s trying to get it out, but relaxes when he sees your grin
❥ refuses to “argue”, dude only has constructive conversations where the two of you find a solution
❥ “it’s us against the problem, babe. not us against each other. what’s going on ?”
❥ three quick pecks every time one of you asks for a kiss, sometimes more, but never less, and he will absolutely pout if you ever short him.
❥ “what was that ? give me a real kiss.”
❥ some nights when his energy is low, and his social battery is almost completely gone, he’ll just lay with you with his head on your chest and listen to your heartbeat.
❥ he’s a little snippy on bad days, but he always catches himself.
❥ “i’m sorry, love. i shouldn’t have reacted like that.”
❥ B A N T E R, he’s a shit, for sure
❥ “oh yeah ? wanna say that to my face ?” (think lori and noah from tiktok)
❥ on days where your body image is bad, he stops what he’s doing and takes the time to just hold you, and reassure you that your body is beautiful.
❥ “look at me, hey. i love you, every single part of you.”
❥ star gazing dates, midnight drives to nowhere, movie nights in the living room, nights where the two of you just stare at the ceiling and enjoy each other’s company.
❥ “penny for your thoughts ?” “what are you thinkin’ about over there ?” “what’s on your mind, beautiful ?”
❥ never shies away from mentioning you on the podcast/in videos.
❥ “oh my god, my girlfriend loves that.” “holy shit, me and y/n were just talking about this !”

Lori Ann Larocco at CNBC:
Billions in trade came to a screeching halt at U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast ports after members of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) began walking off the job after 12:01 a.m. ET on October 1. The ILA is North America’s largest longshoremen’s union, with roughly 50,000 of its 85,000 members making good on the threat to strike at 14 major ports subject to a just-expired master contract with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), and picketing workers beginning to appear at ports. The union and port ownership group failed to reach agreement by midnight on a new contract in a protracted battle over wage increases and use of automation. In a last-ditch effort on Monday to avert a strike that will cause significant harm to the U.S. economy if it is lengthy — at least hundreds of millions of dollars a day at the largest ports like New York/New Jersey — the USMX offered a nearly 50% wage hike over six years, but that was rejected by the ILA, according to a source close to the negotiations. The port ownership group said it hoped the offer would lead to a resumption of collective bargaining.
The 14 ports where preparations for a strike have been underway are Boston, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Wilmington, North Carolina, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami, New Orleans, Mobile, and Houston. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement issued shortly after midnight that “the first large-scale eastern dockworker strike in 47 years began at ports from Maine to Texas, including at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In preparation for this moment, New York has been working around the clock to ensure that our grocery stores and medical facilities have the essential products they need.” Rhetoric from ILA leadership has been aggressive in the weeks leading up to the strike, with ILA president Harold Daggett, who was a union member the last time it went out on strike in 1977, telling rank-and-file members — who unanimously voted to authorize a strike — in a recent video message, “We’ll crush them.”
[...] The most significant issues would be faced by food and automobile industries, Kamins said, as they rely especially heavily on the ports that will be shut down. While a surge in inflation is highly unlikely even with a longer strike, even a modest reacceleration could create uncertainty and force the Federal Reserve to be more cautious about lowering interest rates, which would weigh on the overall outlook for job growth and investment. A one-week strike could cost the U.S. economy $3.78 billion, according to an analysis by The Conference Board, and cause supply chain slowdowns through mid-November. In all, the ports threatened with strikes handle $3 trillion annually in U.S. annual international trade.
Many industries are preparing for major repercussions. Noushin Shamsili, CEO and president of Nuco Logistics, which specializes in pharmaceutical imports and exports, said the strike comes at a critical time for inventory replenishment for the pharma sector. “Almost all of this industry is just on time,” said Shamsili. “Raw materials are being brought in to complete drug manufacturing. Medical supplies for clinics and hospitals are on these vessels. For a while importers did not bring in a lot of cargo because they were overflowing with supplies post-Covid. Now they have started reordering medical devices, gloves, syringes, and tubing.” Shamsili also said the East Coast ports are a gateway for generic medicine made in India. Approximately 48% of the active pharmaceutical ingredients used in the U.S. are being imported from India. Without these APIs, medications cannot be produced. APIs are also manufactured in Europe, which also use the East Coast ports as U.S. points of entry.
[...] The Biden administration finds itself in a delicate political moment, with the presidential election one month away and President Biden vowing he will not use existing labor law to force union workers back on the job, which is within his powers under the Taft-Hartley Act. The Taft-Hartley Act, passed in 1947, was a revision of U.S. law governing labor relations and union activity that granted a U.S. president the power to suspend a strike for an 80-day “cooling off period” in cases where “national health or safety” are at risk.
Today begins the strike along East Coast and Gulf Coast ports after International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) members walked off their jobs.
This strike, depending on how long it lasts, could have a major impact on the elections and the economy.

Uhhhh all of this applies to any and all OCs
Also an addition to this which wasn't on the ask game: what is this OC's most controversial opinion (but an opinion on smth rlly rlly dumb that doesn't actually matter)
💯
🩹
🌲
🍎
💔
☕
😊
💯- share three random facts about your oc that others may not know. Tara: He has a thick Russian accent, he sounds like Pomni from TADC, and he can't dance because he's prone to injury. Amaya: She has chronic fatigue syndrome, her style of choice is angura kei, not goth, and her favorite song is Town With No Sun. Virgil: He's a Libra I think, born on the 13th of February, he's not actually fluent in French despite using it in regular conversation, and he never got top surgery, he just has a naturally very small chest. Rina: She's a boss at word puzzles (such as crosswords) and loves to play them, she picked up smoking for the sole purpose of pissing off her mom, and her favorite movie is The Neon Demon. Antonio: He's autistic and might meet the criteria for ASPD, he uses he/she/they/per pronouns but likes all neopronouns, and his favorite animal is snakes. Lori: She has hypoxemia, her temperature tends to run low, and she has a HUGE phobia of scabies mites and botflies. Cody: He knows basically nothing about pop culture, he's dyslexic, and he was raised Christian.
🩹 - does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities? Tara: Autism, fibromyalgia, chronic pain and digestive issues from childhood pancreatitis Amaya: Autism, chronic fatigue syndrome Virgil: Autism Rina: No Antonio: Autism Lori: Autism Cody: Autism, dyslexia
🌲 - what is your oc's favorite holiday? (note: the one in the ask game is a christmas tree, this is a normal pine tree. I couldn't find the normal pine tree so I just worked with what I had.) Tara: Samhain Amaya: Halloween Virgil: Halloween Antonio: Valentine's Day Rina: Idk
🍎 - where was your oc born? do they still live in/around their place of birth or do they live somewhere else? how do they feel about their birthplace?
Tara: Saratov, Russia. He lives FARR away from there now. He hates it there and honestly I would too if I was raised the way he was.
Amaya and Rina: Somewhere in Ohio. Amaya loves it, Rina hates it. Rina lives there, Amaya lives in Michigan.
Antonio: Somewhere in Idaho, iirc. Probably lives around there.
Virgil: Boston. Does not live there. Did not live there long enough to form an opinion on it.
Lori: Salem. She likes Salem, but being there is not a good thing.
Cody: Salem. He hates Salem, but the last time he tried to leave, his tires got slashed and it took a month to get them fixed.
The Monster of Salem: I think you know.
💔 - what are three of your oc's negative traits?
Tara: Lack of strong moral compass, paranoia, self-victimizing
Amaya: Possessiveness, emotional behavior, tendency for lashing out
Virgil: Prioritizing being the center of attention over being a good person, manipulative behavior, moral irresponsibility
Rina: Narcissism, stubbornness, distrust
Antonio: Lack of compassion, manipulative behavior, paranoia
Lottie: Mistreatment of others, refusal to acknowledge her issues, distrust
☕ - does your oc prefer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, or some other drink? how do they like to take this drink (ex. coffee with milk, hot chocolate with whipped cream, a specific kind of tea, etc)?
Tārā: Tea. Specifically herbal tea. It makes its own blends sometimes.
Amaya: Flavored sparkling water, ginger ale, melon soda, stuff that’s not overbearing in flavor.
Virgil: Black tea.
Antonio: Water with flavor packets. An excessive amount, often times.
Chesa: Tea. Usually Tārā’s tea. When he makes it, he pours an extra cup for her.
Rina: During the summer she drinks a lot of water, but along with that and through the rest of the year, she likes coffee and peach Monster.
Cody: Apple juice. Can’t explain it.
Lori: Probably forgets to drink. Buys vitamin water even though she prefers Coke so she doesn’t die.
Lottie: Ice water.
😊 - what are your oc's career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life?
Tārā: A comfortable life where he has the space to pursue spiritual endeavors and go to therapy.
Amaya: To protect those she loves. In terms of career, she’d like to work in a library or history museum, somewhere where her lifelong passion of preserving history can be put to use. It’s the most important thing to her.
Virgil: To be loved by audiences. He’s… working on having self worth outside of that.
Rina: To surpass the people she’s compared to and told to fill the shoes of. She wants to be a singer.
Lori: She doesn’t know. I’d say to tell stories that she feels people need to hear.
Cody: He just needs any amount of stability before he can start thinking about that.
Bonus: what is the OC’s most controversial but mundane opinion?
Tārā: Most holistic medicine only works in tandem with modern medicine.
Amaya: Eroguro is a valuable and important type of art and shouldn’t be brushed off just because of the content matter without a deeper look at the intention behind it. (<- autistic)
Virgil: Being human is overrated.
Antonio: You can’t make up for the things you’ve done in the past. You can only move forward.
Rina: Sex is stupid and that’s why she uses whore as an insult- it insinuates you’re someone who shapes your whole life around something completely trivial and also is an embarrassing thing to be called.
Lottie: The Exorcist is a horrifying movie for a bunch of reasons no one but her sees.
Lori: True crime is not inherently exploitative and can be a way of honoring victims.
Cody: Everything in the world can and will kill you.
Akki: Because she is a product of her environment, she cannot be blamed for her actions; they, too, are a product of her environment.
The Monster of Salem: If you steal something that belongs to it and you end up scattered across a room in thirteen different parts with your spine nowhere to be found, you probably deserved it.
Chesa: Ignoring hitchhikers is an outright cruel thing to do if you have the means to help them. You should never leave someone behind.

John T Earnest, born 1999, California inmate BP9253, Federal Register 85152-298, incarceration intake in November 2021 at age 22, sentenced to life
Murder, Attempted Murder, Use of Weapons, Hate Crimes
The man who opened fire on a Poway California synagogue in a deadly antisemitic attack was sentenced in San Diego federal court in December 2021 to life in prison, plus 30 years. The hearing marks the final chapter in the dual prosecution of John T. Earnest and adds to the life term that was handed down to him three months earlier in state court.
Earnest, 22, pleaded guilty in September 2021 to a 113-count federal indictment that charged him with civil rights, hate crimes and weapons charges stemming from the April 27, 2019, attack on the synagogue at Chabad of Poway and arson at the Dar-ul-Arqam mosque in Escondido California about a month earlier.
The shooting killed Lori Gilbert-Kaye, 60, and wounded the founding Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, 8-year-old Noya Dahan and her uncle Almog Peretz, 34.
Earnest was also charged with state charges of murder, attempted murder and hate crimes in San Diego Superior Court. In July 2021 he pleaded guilty to those charges in a deal with prosecutors that allowed him to avoid the death penalty and instead get a sentence of life in prison without parole.
The attacks came during a Passover service at the synagogue. Both state and federal prosecutors said Earnest, then a 19-year-old student studying to be a nurse at Cal State San Marcos who had led an unremarkable suburban life in Ranch Peñasquitos, was driven by fierce hatred of Jewish people.
Shortly before the attack, Earnest had posted an screed online full of racist and antisemitic statements that declared the “European race” must be protected. He praised the March 2019 mass shootings at New Zealand mosques, attacks that left 51 people dead, and referenced the accused gunman in an October 2018 attack at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, where 11 people were shot and killed.
In the “open letter” Earnest said he had planned the attack for at least a month, and also admitted he set the fire at the mosque.
In a series of hearings in both state and federal court Earnest has shown little emotion and less regret. At a preliminary hearing in state court in September 2019 he smirked and smiled during testimony about the attack, and at a lunch break in the hearing, he turned toward spectators and made a “hang-loose” gesture with one hand, thumb and little finger extended.
Yet in a sentencing memorandum filed last week, his federal defense lawyers argued Earnest has turned a corner. Lawyers wrote Earnest condemned his actions in a phone call from jail that apparently was recorded.
However those comments came two days after jail officials found a document in Earnest’s jail cell where he again advocated for violence against Jews. Defense lawyers downplayed that by saying it was written long before his apparent condemnation of violence.
The lawyers also wanted Earnest to spend his sentence in a state prison, where he would be closer to his family. They said that would help his rehabilitation. But federal prosecutors instead wanted to have Earnest imprisoned at the super-maximum security federal prison in Florence, Colorado — the same facility where notorious criminals such as Sinaloa cartel kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are housed.
U.S. District Court Judge Anthony Battaglia said he would recommend that Earnest serve the sentence in federal custody, although it will be up to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to accept him. It was not immediately clear if or how state corrections officials would be included in that decision.
The lawyers said that the turnabout in Earnest’s life from a fledgling nurse to armed hatemonger could be attributed to the “rapid online radicalization” that exploited Earnest’s still-developing immature brain.
They wrote that his road to “a good, productive life was unfortunately interrupted by a young, still-growing and immature mind, the mind of a youth who was still trying to identify who he was and left Mr. Earnest to being vulnerable to peer pressure and a fear of exclusion.”
As of September 2023, Earnest was housed under the custody and control of California state authorities at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo, California.

PARK IT! A long while back I made around 50 pixels art "blattlers" of various Blaseball characters. These vary in quality as I improved and also might need to be clicked on if you are using desktop to see them with unblurred pixels. Many were commissions or requests but I no longer have the information of who they were for. They were posted to twitter but not to here so I am archiving them here now.

Republicans in the First Suffolk district (state Sen. Nick Collins's district) who vote during the March 5 primary will get to decide who represents them on the Republican State Committee - one man and one woman.
On the woman's side, the candidates are Elizabeth Hinds-Ferrick and Lori Kauffman, both of Dorchester.
Hinds-Ferrick immigrated from Guyana, got a doctorate in law and policy at Northeastern and is currently assistant director at the state Department of Transitional Assistance.
Kauffman, who grew up Jewish, divides her love between Kanye West and Hitler. She wants to exile Jews from the US and blames a Covid-19 shot for giving her stage-4 brain cancer (don't worry, she says the tumors are now shrinking) . She's also a transphobe.

3rd Life: Part Two
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1.8k
Warnings: canon violence, canon language, canon talk of death, methods of kill
Author’s Note: I do not own anything from Criminal Minds. All credit goes to their respective owners. If there is any warnings that exceed the normal death/kills from the show, I will list them. If you’ve seen the show, then it’s the same level of angst unless otherwise stated
You quickly escape the corner you're backed into and see Rossi exiting the bedroom. You quickly get behind him, and this action does not go unnoticed by him. Derek and Spencer exit the bedroom a second later to talk to Jack.
"This doesn't look much like a home. State-of-the-art security system, but the furniture looks rented. The walls are bare of any real art. The shelves are devoid of any family photos."
"The spyware wipes your computer file history daily," you speak up and avoid eye contact with Jack.
"What are you getting at, Agent?" Pat asks.
"In the recording, Katie said what you'd expect of any teenager about to die. She begged for her life. Lindsey did exactly the opposite."
"Which is what?" Jack asks, his face stoic.
You're scared of Jack, but you know he won't try anything with four other FBI agents in the house.
"Lindsey's emotional response and the words that she chose to say in a situation as violent as the one she faced strongly suggests--"
"Look," Rossi takes over, tired of how you're dancing around the subject. "Lindsey was either coached or she's experienced sexual abuse before."
"You son of a bitch!" This is the first time you're seeing any emotion come out of Jack. He lunges at Rossi to attack him, but Pat holds him back. "No! Let me go!"
Pat and Jack struggle, causing the back of Pat's shirt to rise. There is a gun stuffed between his back and his pants, and everyone on your team takes out your own guns to get them to calm down.
"Gun! Put your hands where I can see them, both of you! Do not move!" Derek yells.
Pat and Jack freeze and hold their hands up, scared one of you might actually shoot them. Jack goes back to his calm and collected facade while Pat does all the talking.
"Stop! Okay? Okay, just calm down. I'm gonna reach into my pocket, and I'm gonna take out a badge. Just calm down." He does so and retrieves a badge to show. "United States Marshal. Jack and Lindsey are under my authority."
"Which is what?"
"Witness protection."
This is something new, so you have to call Hotch down so he can decide on what to do. He will be over as soon as he can, and you're not going to do anything until he gets there. It takes him an hour to get to Jack's house, and you can sense the panic coming from Lori and Bruce who live across the street from Jack.
"What's going on?" Hotch asks when he finally arrives.
"Jack's been in witness protection for the last ten years. Must be really important."
"Why didn't you tell us immediately?"
"Because he's a state witness whose identity needs to be protected at all costs," Pat answers. "You know, Jack, this may not have anything to do with--"
"With what? His past?" Rossi interrupts.
"Jack, every person in this room, with the exception of him, is here for your daughter."
"If this does have anything to do with me, they'll be coming out of Boston. Irish-American. Two or more men," Jack sighs.
"Let's get them back to the station and keep them there until this is over," Hotch orders.
"Hey, you know, you have no idea who or what you're dealing with here."
"Then enlighten me or stay out of my way."
Pat is at a loss for words at how Hotch is treating him. You and Derek escort Pat and Jack out of their home where Lori and Bruce can see them clearly. Because of this, they are upset at the fact that Jack might have something to do with their daughter's death.
"He's under arrest?" Bruce asks, first confused then angry.
"No, he's not under arrest. Mr. Owen, please don't make this harder than it is," Emily begs.
"You're lying to me. Jack?"
"Mr. Owen, please calm down."
You can feel how anxious he is, and it's not helping you. You have to take a few deep breaths and let it pass over you instead of letting it settle in.
"Let go of me. What's going on? I want to know what he did to my Katie."
"Okay, first you need to calm down--"
"Don't tell me to calm down. Why are you arresting him?" Bruce demands.
"Sir, we're just asking him questions. That's it."
"Jack! If you had anything to do with this, I swear, I will kill you!" Bruce yells, causing Lori to start crying.
Jack does the smart thing and doesn't say anything to him. Him and Pat are taken to the police station, and once you know that Bruce has calmed down, you head to the police station yourself. There is an empty conference room that Jack and Pat are staying in, and that's where they are going to stay until the morning. You need them to stew for a bit before talking to them.
Right before dawn, Hotch grabs Penelope on the line and joins you and Rossi who are off to the side watching Jack and Pat.
"Garcia. I need you to check flights for the last seventy-two hours into San Diego, Orange County, and private airports as well. We're looking for one or two men, possibly Irish, out of Boston."
"Got it."
"Check motels, hotels, car rentals, and everything you can."
"I've interviewed hundreds of killers," Rossi says when Hotch hangs up on Penelope. "All types of crazy motives for doing what they did. They all share one thing in common. All of them. It's in their eyes. Until what they hold most precious is gone, and then they're lost. Just like the rest of us."
You leave Hotch and Rossi to talk to themselves to join Derek and Emily who have walked inside the room where Jack and Pat are. You've given them enough time to think about what they're going to say.
"Who do you work for?" Hotch asks Jack.
Looks like he followed you in as well.
"The Mccrelan Corporation from Boston."
"I love how you guys sell that. By 'corporation', you mean the mob, don't you?" Derek asks.
"No one's been able to get anything on them," Pat sighs, answering Derek's question.
"That's because they murdered anyone who was a threat to them, civilians and cops alike."
"Is that what you did, Jack?" you ask. "Did you eliminate the threat? Do those pills help the memories, or do they just hide the real Jack?"
"The only thing that keeps me alive is Lindsey," he says truthfully.
"What they did to Katie, do you think that was a message to you?"
"If it is, it's working."
"Do you recognize the method?"
"I didn't send messages. I just went straight to the source."
"In two weeks' time, the Mccrelan brothers will face trial," Pat reveals.
The door opens and detective Payton pops his head in.
"You were right. We just found something in an abandoned house."
"Lindsey?"
"Where, exactly?" Hotch ignores Jack.
"Here. On the outskirts of town."
"It's still in the comfort zone. It means the unsubs are local. Still here," you say knowing Payton was going to ask about it.
"Let's go," Hotch nods.
"Agent Hotchner. Whatever you find, I want to see her," Jack says.
You leave with the team to head to the place where the body was found. It's in an abandoned town, not just a house. There are a bunch of buildings to search through, but you already know which cluster of buildings is the one that holds the body. You can see the energy in and around the houses.
"What is it to the dump site, five miles?" Hotch guesses.
"Six point two miles south," Spencer corrects.
"Why? Why didn't they dump Katie's body on the other side of town and risk heading out on the open road while everyone was out looking for the girls?"
"Something forced them to move on. Let's search the houses."
You lead the group to the cluster of houses you know the most activity happened in. Almost immediately, you can smell the blood as soon as you enter the house. It's carpeted, but the floor reeks of blood.
"Katie's cell phone," Emily says when she locates the phone in the living room.
"Look at the footprints here. It's two different kinds. Could mean there are more than two unsubs. Jack did say there'd be two of them."
"There's cigarette butts everywhere. For professionals, this is a real mess."
There are multiple beer and liquor bottles with DNA on them, no doubt. In the other room is a belt that you believe was used to strangle Katie. This could very well be the place where Katie died. Too much energy is lingering behind for you to make a definitive decision about that.
"You'd think they'd just want to do the job and move on."
"They're sending a message. Why obliterate the ID and hide the body? Why not go straight to the source?"
"Garcia checked all the names against the ICE database and nothing. Katie and Lindsey may have left the movie theater of their own free will, but they sure didn't count on coming here."
"So, this has nothing to do with the mob?"
The blood trail leads outside on the back patio, and you follow it outside.
"Hey, guys, this blood trail goes all the way out the back here. Must have run out this way."
"Maybe it was Lindsey," Emily suggests.
"It's not Lindsey," you state. In front of you is a man lying on the ground who is close to dying. He is clutching his side as he struggles to get away. "There's a man here. Looks like a high school student. He got stabbed based on how he is moving. He's around here somewhere, I can feel it."
"Okay, spread out. Search the grounds and every house," Hotch orders.
You already know he is going to want you with him, so you use that victim and let him lead you to where he is. You enter the third house down from where the blood trail is, and see blood on the carpet. The trail leads upstairs, and you're the one to follow it. At the top of the stairs, just right into the right bedroom, is a dead body. You gasp and walk inside carefully as if the body will sit up and talk to you.
"Guys, the last house on the left, second floor. We've got something," Hotch says.
The rest of the team joins you inside the house, and you examine the body in front of you. It's the same person as you saw outside the other house. He must have tried to run away but came inside a house when he knew he was dying.
"He was stabbed three times," Hotch says after loosely examining him.
"Look at the scratch marks on his face. They're also on both of his arms, and his hand has a bite mark. These are all defensive wounds. At some point for him, things got out of hand and he wanted out. Whoever he was with wasn't about to let that happen."
"He makes a run for it and gets stabbed in the process. It's dark. They can't find him. They think he's gone to the police and they have to think fast, so they take katie and they dump her across town."
"To maintain some amount of control, they take Lindsey. This is one of our unsubs. We just need to find his friends," you finish.

Book Notes: Hello Beautiful
Ann Napolitano’s new novel, Hello Beautiful, deserves all of the praise I am sure it’s going to get. It is gorgeously written, with flawed characters so movingly portrayed you can feel the tenderness with which Napolitano handles each one. Even the ones you can’t quite sympathize with are never flat. Families come together, break apart, and come together again. Its March publication date, the month of March Madness, is also fitting, given that a central character, William, finds solace early on in basketball.
William Walters is a lonely child. Raised by two parents unable to move past their grief at the unexpected death of William’s older sister, Caroline, William gravitates towards basketball, first alone at the local park, then pick-up games, finally advancing to the varsity high school team. He gets a scholarship for college, moves from Boston to Chicago, and meets Julia Padavano, the person who will change his life. Julia brings him home to her poetry-quoting father, religious and pragmatic mother, and three younger sisters, Sylvie, Emeline and Cecelia, all of whom enfold him into their lives and hearts. His adoption into the Padavano clan is cemented by Julia’s determination that in William she has found the man she is going to marry.
Spanning from the 1960’s to 2008, the story shifts between William, Julia, and Sylvie, following their loves and heartbreaks, betrayals and personal epiphanies. Hello Beautiful speaks profoundly to the human condition and the consequences of making choices out of self-protective impulses. With gentle reference to Little Women, a childhood favorite of mine, Napolitano pays tribute to the heart of Alcott’s beloved novel and the realities of Alcott’s life, while giving us something so deeply affecting that there were moments that moved me to tears.
Hello Beautiful is going on my personal best reads of 2023, and this would be a wonderful choice for any book club. Or if you want to read about someone who really loves basketball while March Madness is going on in the background. We currently have signed copies, so pick one up today!

They know the answer. It’s in the article. It’s men abusing and killing women.
Massachusetts has seen a string of mysteries involving women who have disappeared. Some of the most recent cases include new calls for help from Framingham and Brookfield, to a case that's lasted for months out of East Boston, to the disappearance of a mom in Cohasset that grabbed international headlines.
A local expert who tracks these kinds of things says she can't remember so many missing women in the Bay State at one time. The circumstances in each case are different but for their families, the pain and questions are all too similar.
BRITTANY TEE
In Brookfield, the worry is magnifying as the search continues for 35-year-old Brittany Tee.
"She would not do this on purpose," her sister Bethany said Monday. "She has never left, we always know where she was."
Authorities said Monday they are planning to increase the scale of the search on Tuesday, which marks one week since Tee was last seen.
Police say Tee left a Main Street home around 8:30 p.m. on foot on Jan. 10 and disappeared near Lewis Field down the road. Her family reported her missing two days later, saying she left her car behind and her cellphone isn't working.
Tee is 5-foot-6 and 120 lbs. She was last seen wearing a hoodie and jeans, with a black winter coat and work boots on.
Anyone who may have home security cameras in the area, or who has information on her whereabouts is asked to call Brookfield police at 508-867-5570.
Brittany Tee hasn't been seen since Tuesday, Jan. 10.
REYNA MORALES ROJAS
Reyna Morales Rojas has been missing since November, according to Boston police.
The 41-year-old was last seen on Nov. 26 getting into a vehicle in the area of Bennington Street in East Boston and dropped off in Somerville. She was wearing a black shirt and pants, a gray sweater and was carrying a bag.
Morales Rojas is described as 5'5" and 145 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
"My heart breaks just thinking about her not being here or that we may find her without her infectious smile.”
Morales Rojas has two children in El Salvador and they do not stop asking about her mother, the family says. Her sister adds that this is very strange because she talked to her sister every day, even the day she disappeared.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call detectives at 617-343-4328.
LORI BAXTER
Boston police are searching for 45-year-old Lori Baxter, who was last heard from on Dec. 28.
Police say Baxter is known to frequent the Massachusetts Avenue, Melnea Cass Boulevard and Southampton Street area.
Anyone with information regarding Baxter's whereabouts is asked to call detectives at 617-343-5619.
MADELINE DESHAZO
Authorities said Monday they were looking for 33-year-old Madeline DeShazo, who had last been seen Thursday.
Tuesday, police announced that DeShazo has been located in Boston and is with family.
ANA WALSHE
Cohasset mother of three Ana Walshe remains missing, having last been seen at her home since the early morning hours on New Year's Day.
Her husband, Brian Walshe, was charged with murderon Tuesday — he'd previously been charged with misleading police in their investigation, and pleaded not guilty.
Information has come to light involving his past run-ins with the law.
A vigil was held for the missing 39-year-old woman last week at the Cohasset Town Common, as her family in Serbia says they are getting more worried every day.
A 2014 report obtained by NBC10 Boston from police in Washington D.C. shows that Ana Walshe once told authorities that her husband threatened to kill her.
During Brian Walshe's arraignment in Quincy District Court, prosecutors said that blood and a bloody knife were found in the basement of the Walshe home, and said Brian Walshe lied about his whereabouts to police. The state also said that Walshe spent $450 buying cleaning supplies at a Home Depot.
This case has also seen exhaustive police searches through dumpsters, as detectives sift through garbage for potential evidence.
Anyone with information on Walshe's whereabouts is urged to contact detectives at 781-830-4990.
EXPERTS WEIGH IN
With each passing day, these investigations are growing more difficult.
"Timing is a very important aspect in the investigation, the longer the case goes on, the longer the person is missing, certain leads will possibly go stale," said security analyst Todd McGhee.
New England Law Professor Wendy Murphy is co-director of the Women's and Children's Advocacy Project. She says she has tracked troubling trends when it comes to women facing danger.
"You may think these cases are unrelated, but I think they are related," she said of all of the disappearances. "Boy it has never been this bad. I can't remember a time when we had this many missing women in such a short period of time."
Police in each case say the investigations are continuing.

With the holidays coming up, do your MC and Li have any traditions?
Are they making their own? Do they keep some they grew up with? What is it?
Firstly, Merry Christmas! Thank you for this ask.
Yes, they both have traditions, and during their relationship, they've definitely tried to build more.
Charlie comes from a family full of traditions -- no Christmas festivities until after Thanksgiving, collecting a new ornament each year, baking recipes past down for generations, and mulled cider that famously takes days to get right. A lot of her traditions followed her to Boston, like watching Christmas movies in a specific order or making stockings for all her roommates. Some of the recipes and family gatherings couldn't join her, but she tries to replicate them when she can.
Ethan, however, had few traditions, but he firmly holds to them. As a single father, Alan did his best, but he didn't have the time or resources to develop widespread holiday traditions. More often than not, Ethan was the one making the Christmas Dinner -- which inspired his love for cooking -- and the one decorating the house to make his dad smile. Ethan has three traditions he carried into adulthood -- every year, he visits or calls his father, he mails a Christmas card to his dad (and later Naveen), and he always watches the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. It was his father's favorite, and he has fond memories of watching it with him. As an adult, Ethan picked up a few extra, like sharing a glass of scotch with Naveen on Christmas Eve and making an experimental new dish.
Once Charlie and Ethan got together, they melded their traditions. Ethan was overwhelmed by hers, initially, but quickly discovered he loved traditions and what they represented. He especially loved the years when Charlie, Ethan, and Alan visited Charlie's parents for the holidays.
As for their own traditions, Ethan and Charlie always hosted Christmas Eve Dinner. When they were in town, they invited their family and friends (or anyone in the hospital who needed someone to celebrate with). When they were visiting Alan or her parents, they invited family, too. Alan never missed a family gathering as he had an open invitation to all of Charlie's family events (and occasionally, when Ethan and Charlie were working, he'd felt welcome enough to go without them).
Once they had kids, the traditions changed. They added Santa and Christmas tree decorations into the mix, and their children encouraged new habits, too. Lori liked to ice skating. Daniel liked to wear wacky matching pajamas on Christmas morning.
