In 2556, the UNSC Saturn responded to a Flood outbreak on an asteroid in the Marcey system. A crashed Forerunner ship had been discovered by IMC and BXR mining crews, and upon entering the vessel, the parasite revealed itself.

Captain Alvarez of the UNSC Saturn deployed Fireteam Leviathan to the site, refusing to lose the Forerunner vessel. However, when the Spartans were overrun and infected, CORRUPTER protocols were enacted and the site was destroyed with nuclear weapons.

The product of Project MAGNES, the Grappleshot is a wrist-mounted equipment that allows Spartans the ability to fire a grappling hook to traverse extreme environments or extend their reach for weapons and other objects.

The Pattern-2 composite sword is a machete master-crafted by Misriah Armory and often used for assassinations. Spartan Hieu Dinh's personal machete, Wolf Fang, was sharpened on Covenant armor and has killed many Banished foes.
