What’s your opinion on lore Olympus?

Hate it. I read it because i wanted more stories about Hades and Persephone. I will state some reasons for why i strongly dislike it.

hades is like over 3000 and Persephone was 19, I get that Persephone was a lot younger than Hades but RS could’ve made her older.

Demeter was shown to be a tragic character herself but is made a villain for absolutely no reason

Hades was mean to Demeter and expects her to be like ‘yo even though your a jackass and a groomer you can still marry my daughter’ like no brotha

Hades cheated on Minthe when they were official.

Persephone is not the only victim in LO and the creator made her a mary sue

Persephone doesn’t have a personality, she used to have one but it was thrown out the window.

Persephone was drawn as a toddler in many panels, yes short women exist, i am one myself, yet her features were also made childlike.

The story tells you that Persephone is this and that instead of showing it, for example, Aphrodite is beauty herself. Yet everyone compares her to Persephone and says she’s better

Persephone uses her status to Threaten others for no reason.

Hera is rude and mean just like minthe but gets praised because Zeus is a cheater and you’re supposed to like Hera and not Minthe although their personality wise the same

Persephone killed innocent people and the story wants you to forgive her because she is the main character. ( Demeter was shown to support Persephone but they still made het the bad guy)

The story Justifies things that shouldn’t be justified. Like grooming, emotional abuse, toxicity, cheating ect

Persephone expects to be an exception for everything because Hades gives in and gives her special treatment.

Those are a few reasons. Also i hate that they made apollo a bad guy because they needed a villain. Hate LO I personally think it’s garbage. Just the story. RS’ art was unique and you could see her passion in it. I mean things like background and color popping. Not characters, because they are almost the same

Like Her control issues were so damn disgusting to the point she was controlling her daughter’s sexuality to become a virgin for all eternity to keep her fantasy of a perfect little innocent daughter

Whether she likes it or not.

Like woman if you don’t get your damn mental health and trauma in check and actually teach your daughter to defend herself and teach her about consensual Sex and attack with plant magic instead of controlling her to the point of creepy purity behavior

LO panel redraw!! I've been sitting on my redesigns for awhile, and I finally got the time to redraw some panels :)

I'm not a fan of Lore Olympus (the way the author fumbled these 2 is insane)

I’m getting really tired of people insisting that lore Olympus is either amazing and beyond criticism or terrible and beyond enjoyment. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Does LO have some problems? Yes. Are you allowed to talk about those problems? Of course. Are you allowed to just not like LO for no specific reason? Absolutely.

But that does not mean that there’s nothing to enjoy in the story. Having problems doesn’t mean that something is inherently bad. Enjoying a problematic work does not make a person problematic. And people are allowed to have different interpretations of the story and characters than you do.

Also, just because you like a work does not mean it’s above criticism. There’s a lot of interesting literary analysis to be done on a work like lore Olympus. And again, people are allowed to have different interpretations of the story and characters than you do.

For example, you are allowed to not like the way Demeter is written or see her as a nuanced character. Other people are allowed to dislike Demeter as a character or enjoy her as a villain. We can all coexist. The same work is going to mean different things to different people.

So can we please stop insulting each other and calling each other out for having “wrong opinions”?

Demeter and her lovers.

Iasion- an agricultural hero, demigod and the springtime consort of Demeter in the Samothracian Mysteries. There was a theory before that Demeter will meet Iasion when she got banished after the trial so I'm gonna go with that kind of storyline. He met, assisted and loved her during those 10 years.

Mekon- a beautiful Athenian man and a mortal lover of Demeter but she turned him into poppies for his own preservation. There's not much info about him other than that but I'm making him into a prince and someone that she loved in her earlier years.

Btw, these guys don't know each other cuz they don't live in the same time period but I wanted to edit together.

If you took the scene where hades and Demeter are arguing because of hades BRIBING DEMETER OUT OF THE QUEEN POSITIOSN(which she deserves btw like she’s literally running everything in the mortal realm and a cereal company on top of it give this woman some credit)and showed it to someone who had no other context,then I’m sure 90% of people would agree that hades is the villain in that situacion.no questions asked.

All that happened because Zeus couldn't keep it in his pants............AGAIN?

Or, to be more precise, Zeus used how Demeter and Hades are pretty much opposites and argued about most of things so they strongly dislike each other, so Demeter would believe that lie and also make them enemies for eternity and make Demeter always believe the worst of him?

Also that explains why Zeus used Demeter's place to hide all the nymphs he slept with, because he exploited what she used to feel for him to make her comply.

Is this a reference how the source myth the blame was all on Zeus since he was the one who authorized/ordered Persephone's kidnapping and marriage?

Hurtful Truths

A rewrite of chapter 230, to have like an actually interesting mother daughter relationship along with just more emotional drama. word count: 1,594

Demeter saw Persephone waking out from the bush towards the her field. A pained smile formed on her face, but even that disappeared when she saw the moth flying behind her. annoyed greatly that he is continuing to push himself into their limited time together. She took a deep breath before standing up and waving to her daughter "KORE!" She yelled out with a large smile as Persephone ran towards her with her arms spread.

"Mother! It's so good to see you!" Demeter embraced her daughter, giving her a tight hug. It was a feeling she has missed during her years as a mortal, having her daughter in her arms and knowing that she'd okay and safe. "You look beautiful! this dress is different from what you usually wear though? it looks great on you, but if you'd perfect something a bit more casual we can go grab something from your closet."

"Maybe later mom. I'd actually like to talk to you about are preparations for spring." Demeter couldn't help but be distracted by the moth flying close behind persephones head. Holding back a glare for hades was difficult as he intruded on their time. "Actually, the others are in the great Hall. I know they'll love to say hello to you, go do that first and I'll just collect my notes for spring before we start the boring things."

"Oh..? what are they all doing in the great hall" Persephone asks a bit of a curious look on her face, slightly worried about any change of plans. "It's a celebration of the punishment being over.. because of the shift in leadership there was a bit of adjustment time but now that's passed they took it upon themselves to have a big party."

Persephone smiled softly, walking towards the great hall her moth flying a few feet behind her as she does "well that's quite nice.. I'll just drop in quickly" demeter followed behind her, eyes closely on the moth. Persephone walked into the great hall and was greeted with the cheers and drunkingly yelled greetings of many nymphs. She enter the crowd distracted by all her family to notice her mother behind her.

Demeter quickly trapped the moth into a glass vase, a few cracks already forming but it held strong as she held it up to her face. "Though I wouldn't recognize you didn't you hades?" She glared down at hades through the glass her power flowing around "You're in my domain now. And if you think that I will just let you push my daughter into this life of selfishness and cruelty your just a delusional cruel excuse for a king."

Demeter glared down at him as he struggled to get out but repeatedly failed. She set hades down underneath the table and left him to go find Persephone in the crowd. "Persephone.. I know you may wish to stay but I think it would be best to get the work done before you get tired."

Persephone nodded, reaching to her head for a moth that was no longer there before looking around confused. "h-hey.. mom.. have you seen my moth? it was just here" Demeter joined in looking around a bit "It could have flown away.. we can go looking for it later.. but I'm sure that it's safe."

They moved out into the garden, persephone still looking around nervously. Their was already a small table and chair set up demeter notes collect and organized ontop of it. Demeter held Persephone hand gently as they sat down ".. kore.. I know you may not like what I have to say but I need to talk to you about this."

Persephone look to her mother concern pulling her hands away and moving to nervously grab the edge of her dress. "What.. what is this about mom, I'm assuming it's not about spring"

Demeter felt a small part of her heart break when she moved her hands away. Remember the times where kore would always wish to hold her hand and how it use to comfort her. Demeter took a shaky breath before continuing. "I understand Tgoem is not for you, I tried to set you up for it as a way to protect you from Zeus just marrying you of.. especially when I learned of your powers… I understand that you don't wish to continue with it but you haven't even formally resigned yet."

"well.. I know I've been really busy, there's been alot of stuff going on in the underworld and I haven't had the chance to do it." Persephone looked away a bit shyly, worried about how this conversation was headed. A hand moving to nervously grip onto the side of her dress, the other a fist on the table in front of her.

".. I get that you've been busy.. but alot of people looked up to you Persephone, tgoem put alot of work into presenting you as the newest member. The least you could've at least given them a clear reason why not… Alot of them are confused over what happened.. and are really worried." Demeter continued to explain, moving to sit up straight while still trying to be as gentle with her explanation.

"I.. understand that but like, it's not like much is really going to waste.. I still helped raise a bit of money for tgoem and it's not like much happened during the punishment" Persephone countered, still not seeing her mistakes.

"well yes but then we had to hear from someone else that you're planning an immensely lavish coronation to become queen of the underworld… I thought I taught you better… If your being queen don't you think that money should go towards helping your citizens.. are you really comfortable with such a extravagant affair? and could you have not officially left tgoem before that.." She was getting more worked up as she explored her grievances with persephone, from seeing who her daughter was growing into.

"I'm sorry… I was planning on telling you about it today" Demeter paused when she saw a few small tears start to form in persephone eyes, it broke her heart. Part of her wished to stop, to let persephone live a life free of worry and sadness but she continued. She has failed as a mother in the past by wishing Persephone to have no pain and to grow strong but those things contradict each other.

"Persephone… The work you did during my absence was amazing especially given the circumstances.. but you still made alot of mistakes. You struggled with food, the library burned down and the acreage in Attica fall to ruin." Demeter felt her voice wavier as it was more difficult to go on.

"I made mistakes so what!? Everything turned out find in the end" Persephone snapped back, frustrated with her mother bringing up her points.

"No.. it's just the point I'm trying to make is that. You have a very small amount of experience running and ruling the mortal realm.. and the underworld are two vastly different things. Your going to be running a whole kingdom! it doesn't have as many farms and fields.. and far far more people." Demeter pauses with a shaky sigh knowing how what she said next would effect persephone.

"Do… do you really think you're fit to run a whole kingdom. I want you to honestly think about this.. because failing and making mistakes now is not has the chance to hurt alot more people.. and there is little people who can step in to help you"

Persephone stared at her mother, a look of broken ideas of the future in her eyes as she look down and away. "... hades.. will be there. I-if I make a mistake he'll help me."

Demeter paused, standing up "... do you really wish to spend your life depending on and being in the shadow of a king known for his cruelty. your a brilliant hard working and fundamentally kind person Kore.. I know you are. You are allowed to hate a despise me for every chose and thing I've done.. but I am here for you forever and always... and I simply do not want you to live a life trapped in regret unable to leave.. I've seen it happened to people I love.. and I would hate to see you fall into that."

Persephone didn't respond staring at the ground, with a small frown demeter moved to move to place a hand on her shoulder ".. it is your choice.. I hope you understand why I didn't want hades here.. The party should be done, return to the great hall and look under the table. You can release him."

Demeter gave Persephone some space, allowing her time to think about what demeter brought up. When walking back to her room she said a few passing hellos to nymphs but they could tell that demeter wouldn't want any more currently. When she arrived at her room she date down at her bed, her hands shaking a bit as she was filled with regret over everything she said. Was this the right thing to do.. or did I just make her hate me for no reason.

Demeter looked down at her shaking hands, before feeling the tears start to trail down her face. A few weak sobs followed, feeling like she failed as a mother for putting her daughter in any position like this. For now she knew it was out of her hands, and just allowed herself to cry.

I just realized that this actually extremely disrespectful of Hades to say since Aphrodite is technically his aunt in mythology 😭

Like imagine your someone’s aunt and you overhear your nephew bragging about his crush and he has the audacity to say that she’s way more beautiful than you, his aunt!

Rachel smyte actually always wanted persephone and Aphrodite to have a rivalry. I mean look at this

She even made Ares in love with Persephone because plot ig? (It was never relevant and she has a y/n complex)

And the thought that Hades said that to his niece and the daughter of Demeter. Which he hates btw. Is even more disgusting😭
