Allied Nations War Council Trials
Part IV
Tumblr media
Julius & Johanna Albrecht
Next up on the stand is Captain Julius Albrecht, eldest son of Earl Grimwald in Windenburg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tsarina Ekaterina: "Captain Albrecht, you have pleaded not guilty." Captain Albrecht: "I do not recognize the authority of this court. I am a citzen of Windenburg, and you don't even have a Windenburgian representative on your council." Tsarina Ekaterina: "I'm sorry you don't recognize our authority, unfortunately for you, the rest of the world does, so we will proceed with the sentencing. I yield the floor to Judge Kalogera."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
King Petros Kalogera: "Captain Julius Albrecht, for the crimes of aiding the occupation of the sovereign nation of Tartosa, for aiding the subjugation of her free citizens, for the murder of Wendelin Humphrey, Duke of Whitland and Jean-Paul Yang, Viscount of Grayside, and for the consent you signed coercing your sister, Lady Johanna Albrecht, into an arranged marriage with Prince Jonas Lofton, this court finds you Guilty. You are hereby sentenced to life at the Imperial Mountain Prison, and forfeit any right you have to any inheritance from your parents, including but not limited to- any titles, properties, or incomes you may have previously been eligable for. Furthermore, you are stripped of your military command and title, and will henceforth be known as Mr. Albrecht." Mr. Albrecht: "This is ridiculous! You have no right!!" Tsarina Ekaterina: "Thank you, Mr. Albrecht, you are dismissed."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yikes... these judges really aren't messing around. Another life sentence for another of Victor's high ranking officials... we can only imagine how it's going to be for him...
Next up is Mr. Albrecht's sister, Lady Johanna Albrecht.
Tumblr media
Tsarina Ekaterina: "Lady Johanna, please accept the sincere apologies of this court, for dragging you out here, for making you wait, and now for forcing you up on the stand. Judge Pelletier."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Queen Genevieve Pelletier: "This court finds you innocent of any crimes, and indeed finds you a victim of certain crimes instead. For your coercion into an arranged marriage with Prince Jonas Lofton, and for your forced relocation to Tartosa, this court is offering to send you back to your family in Windenburg, as well as offering a one-time payment of $1,000,000 to reimburse you for emotional trauma sustained during the war, as an apology, with the understanding that your arranged engagement to Prince Jonas Lofton is officially over." Lady Johanna: "Do I have to go back? To my family, I mean?" Tsarina Ekaterina: "I... no... alternative housing could be found for you while you find housing of your own..." Lady Johanna: "Thank you, Ma'am." Tsarina Ekaterina: "Alright... very good. Thank you Lady Johanna, you are dismissed."
Tumblr media
Another win for the innocents. Many across the globe are cheering on this court's treatment of the innocent, subjugated women in Victor's realm- they had no power and did nothing wrong, and the court sees that. Especially Lady Johanna's big payout? The people are impressed. One thing that does have the internet all abuzz however, is how the court keeps calling him "Prince Jonas," when almost everyone else has been referred to without titles, even if they were rewarded with titles at the end, and people have noticed when the camera pans over to the defendants box...
Tumblr media
Jonas is the only one in a suit, not in the Glimmerbrooke County Jail orange that everyone else is wearing (because they all spent the night there last night to prepare for this trial)... what could it mean? Well we won't have long to find out, because Prince Jonas is up next on the stand!
Stay tuned for more coverage of the trials!

Summaries under the cut
The Music of Dolphins by Karen Hesse
Mila creates headlines around the world when she is rescued from an unpopulated island off the coast of Florida. Now a teenager, she has been raised by dolphins from the age of four.
Researchers teach Mila language and music. She learns, too, about rules and expectations, about locked doors and broken promies, disappointment and betrayal.
But the more Mila finds out what it means to be human, the more deeply she longs for her ocean home.
Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat by Lynne Jonell
Emmy was a good girl. At least she tried very hard to be good. She did her homework without being told. She ate all her vegetables, even the slimy ones. And she never talked back to her nanny, Miss Barmy, although it was almost impossible to keep quiet, some days.
She really was a little too good. Which is why she liked to sit by the Rat. The Rat was not good at all . . .
Gideon the Cutpurse by Linda Buckley-Archer
1763.
Gideon Seymour, cutpurse and gentleman, hides from the villainous Tar Man. Suddenly the sky peels away like fabric and from the gaping hole fall two curious-looking children. Peter Schock and Kate Dyer have fallen straight from the twenty-first century, thanks to an experiment with an antigravity machine. Before Gideon and the children have a chance to gather their wits, the Tar Man takes off with the machine -- and Kate and Peter's only chance of getting home. Soon Gideon, Kate, and Peter are swept into a journey through eighteenth-century London and form a bond that, they hope, will stand strong in the face of unfathomable treachery.
Dragonbreath by Ursula Vernon
It's not easy for Danny Dragonbreath to be the sole mythical creature in a school for reptiles and amphibians -- especially because he can't breathe fire like other dragons (as the school bully loves to remind him). But having a unique family comes in handy sometimes, like when his sea-serpent cousin takes Danny and his best iguana friend on a mindboggling underwater tour, complete with vomiting sea cucumbers and giant squid. It sure beats reading the encyclopedia to research his ocean report . . .
Undertow by Michael Buckley
Sixteen-year-old Lyric Walker’s life is forever changed when she witnesses the arrival of 30,000 Alpha, a five-nation race of ocean-dwelling warriors, on her beach in Coney Island. The world’s initial wonder and awe over the Alpha quickly turns ugly and paranoid and violent, and Lyric’s small town transforms into a military zone with humans on one side and Alpha on the other. When Lyric is recruited to help the crown prince, a boy named Fathom, assimilate, she begins to fall for him. But their love is a dangerous one, and there are forces on both sides working to keep them apart. Only, what if the Alpha are not actually the enemy? What if they are in fact humanity’s only hope of survival? Because the real enemy is coming. And it’s more terrifying than anything the world has ever seen.
Poison by Chris Wooding
Poison has always been a willful, contrary girl, prone to being argumentative and stubborn. So when her sister is snatched by the mean-spirited faeries, she seeks out the Phaerie Lord to get her back.
But finding him isn't easy, and the quest leads Poison into a murderous world of intrigue, danger, and deadly storytelling. With only her wits and her friends to aid her, Poison must survive the attentions of the Phaerie Lord, rescue her sister, and thwart a plot that's beyond anything she (or the reader) can imagine. . . .
Kiki Strike by Kirsten Miller
Life will never be the same for Ananka Fishbein after she ventures into an enormous sinkhole near her New York City apartment. A million rats, delinquent Girl Scouts out for revenge, and a secret city below the streets of Manhattan combine in this remarkable novel about a darker side of New York City you have only just begun to know about…
Willa by Robert Beatty
Move without a sound. Steal without a trace.
Willa, a young night-spirit, is her clan's best thief. She creeps into the cabins of the day-folk under cover of darkness and takes what they won't miss. It's dangerous work--the day-folk kill whatever they don't understand--but Willa will do anything to win the approval of the padaran, the charismatic leader of the Faeran people.
When Willa's curiosity leaves her hurt and stranded in the day-folk world, she calls upon the old powers of her beloved grandmother, and the unbreakable bonds of her forest allies, to escape. Only then does she begin to discover the shocking truth: that not all of her day-folk enemies are the same, and that the foundations of her own Faeran society are crumbling. What do you do when you realize that the society you were born and raised in is rife with evil? Do you raise your voice? Do you stand up against it?
As forces of unfathomable destruction encroach on her forest home, Willa must decide who she truly is, facing deadly force with the warmest compassion, sinister corruption with trusted alliance, and finding a home for her longing heart.
Sammy Keyes by Wendelin Van Draanen
Grams always told her those binoculars would get her into trouble. Now Sammy's witnessed a crime at the Heavenly Hotel-a light fingered thief stealing $4,000 from Madame Nashira, the astrologer with the fire-hazard hair-do. Thing is, while she was watching him, he was watching her, too...
First Light by Rebecca Stead
Peter is thrilled to join his parents on an expedition to Greenland, where his father studies global warming. Peter will get to skip school, drive a dogsled, and finally share in his dad's adventures. But on the ice cap, Peter struggles to understand a series of visions that both frighten and entice him. Thea has never seen the sun. Her extraordinary people, suspected of witchcraft and nearly driven to extinction, have retreated to a secret world they've built deep inside the arctic ice. As Thea dreams of a path to Earth's surface, Peter's search for answers brings him ever closer to her hidden home.

I think I've started to realize the actual nature of why I haven't been able to learn properly the past few years, but it's probably still too early. Before, in trying to fix this, I worried so much about what used to make it work incidentally and what not. In reality, it was the state of focus *within* that incidence, and if you recreated it without actual circumstances, since I've already gotten the General Transfer Studies degree and have no further aspirations to be having in life with these people - that's objective - there would definitely not be that same integration from a real scenario to actually engage something from myself *over* the fact of this generation [like "AAANYWAY!"].
In reality, I'm focusing down on the little words like it's Qabbalah. The reality is, liberalism has conditioned me to accept everything that I read as if it were the following out of Harry Potter book three: "Non-magic people (more commonly known as Muggles) were particularly afraid of magic in medieval times, but not very good at recognizing it. On the rare occasion that they did catch a real witch or wizard, burning had no effect whatsoever. The witch or wizard would perform a basic Flame Freezing Charm and then pretend to shriek with pain while enjoying a gentle, tickling sensation. Indeed, Wendelin the Weird enjoyed being burned so much that she allowed herself to be caught no less than fortyseven times in various disguises." The point is, this is a statement not of directions but of the world we live in. Occasionally, when you're poring through your college textbooks, on all but fundamentally unrelated subjects, the writer will suddenly openly declare themselves Communist. That's what you're conditioned to be lapping up to be living under like Harry Potter fanatics and gender "intersectionality", which stems from that somehow. Now look at the words after the very most introductory part of the second part of the book I'm using: "While building this game, you'll also learn how to manage large projects that span multiple files. We'll refactor a lot of code and manage file contents to organize the project and make the code efficient."
In what way is that Qabbalistic?
You could be reading this, but if you're reading past 2022, it doesn't mean much that it's doing these things not being Qabbalistic. That just isn't how it works. Not these days.
Update Last Sunday, my mom came home from the new church I never went to because from staying back and casually tuning in to the online stream of the service, I didn't like the feel of the guy. I asked her what the subject was, and she just said it was JOY. Ultimately, she gave me out a band from that service with "Phillippians 4:4" written on it. Today while she was taking the dog out back with the new fence they just installed to encapsulate, I looked up that band and referenced the verse. Pretty much what I felt about that she just reverberated back at me, saying you're not going to get the sermon from just that. So let's read Phillipians 4
There is "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
"Be careful for nothing", this being after days of dealing with her come home from errands she's doing, to me seeming out of nowhere because they're in any case things you can just do in due time, where she specifically had me set up so that when I hesitated, knowing that I would encourage her bad behavior coming back flustered, she went over the top going crazy because she wasn't sure I was set doing it
And of course actually communicating this, the power structure at hand is that you don't appeal to the authority they're coming presumptively from; that's all there is to that religion structure - it's tempting to call these Bible-thumpers, but that's clearly not the case when they're these typical casuals, granted they are attending weekly
It's already down the *drain* saying it: *do you even know what this versage means*
We all know *she's* in the right in the end from the beginning in this: her appointment at the bank drew out, signaling that passage through life, disqualifying all religion, is contingent on the weakest link of server software (optional online banking)
But yeah, religion: JOY is a virtue-signal: "I'm entitled to it" (as in, have been from the *beginning of time*, all things(all things call out to the glory of what **makes** me right))
I really think she's sticking to the principle that you should sooner keep your mouth shut and not be seen as a fool than open it and remove all doubt, because that word is all she would tell me. She's *really* anal-retentive. She won't allow this subconscious virtue-signaling to be pulled down by **any means**, even if it's by accident
"Let your moderation be known to all men", the phrase itself indicating the compulsion to let loose even if it has to come directly out of your behind before that proverbial junction that it's "too late"(?), is of a moderation on a level that any level of bad-heartedness is acceptable because it was all hinging on this, something
She's virtue-signaling to *me* that the new pastor is, compared to the rejected old guy, the mature guy. All i saw him doing was showing that his rise in life is smacking down the badthink - that's all it was
So what other energy do you *expect* of a nation?
It's like, "they're going according to a *'schedule'*, and you're *not*-doing this", whatever that implication means as an active-deliberation indicator of simply not doing things
To what extent is this the gangstalking that's bugged my parents since senior year of highschool and not the nation speaking? I can't tell.
But she almost routinely apologizes after her actual fits - she didn't use to do them in that particular augmentated raging either
But at the end of the day, after the dust settles from all this, the everyman of this country apologizes that *they* didn't do things according to schedule - it was their fault and they (trail off because it's no longer Qabbalah)
Unspokenly, there is a *way* we are supposed to be doing things in our lives, and we're (I guess in the sense of our status) **suffering** not upholding them.
People go off looking for jobs, only to find that they can't get past the automated system conditioning their entry with questionnaires? I could get interviews, but it looks like nobody cares.
The way we are supposed to be doing things in our lives - that's what they used to call Christianity, at least in its origin - the Way - that's not what this is, but it *is*, and it is disaffecting every one of us
That's true - all the world's religion *is* is being making yourself right - in my case, it demonstrates that it doesn't even matter if that *gets* anywhere - it's all that *matters*, that you existed making yourself right(*they don't care if you have to stay in a group home ten years or for the rest of your life* - that's just what was appropriate(*no harm has been done*(Alright *look* - if you were in a group home, that was **your** fault - that's what you were doing (And gather - **everybody** needs to see this) - **if you were doing a group home, you were in over your own *life,* and that's the finalityingness**)))
Update by night The way I see it, religion, every line, as it is, which is specific, feeds the bad wolf (as in "in you are two wolves") of people who are insecure, like my mother - as it is, religion runs rampant across the United States in the mouths of people who curbstomp badthink.
And it begs the question, if the interpreting of scripture contains itself under the means of interpreting systemically by the people curbstoming badthink that contain it, at a stage like this, then why have religion? (In fact, at this stage, that goes for the ability to articulate just as well, even not having any scripture in mind. (It's like, *do you want them to use it?*)) *What weird people call appropriating isn't even a word for it, because there's no active process required for it* - they will use your words as-said, word-for-word as-is, exactly as it pertains to their dichotomy successfully.

October 20 is the feast day of St. Wendelin of Trier, hermit
Tumblr media
Source of picture: Trophaeum Vitae Solitariae (Lives of the Hermits) by Jan Sadeler I, Maarten de Vos
Life of St. Wendelin
Wendelin was the son of a Scottish king who lived in the sixth century. After his youth, he secretly left his home on a pilgrimage to Rome. On his way back, he settled as a hermit in Westricht in the Diocese of Trier. When a great landowner scolded him for his secluded life, Wendelin entered this lord's service as a herdsman. Later, he felt the God’s call allowing him to return to his solitude. Then, Wendelin established a company of hermits from which sprang Benedictine Abbey of Tholey.

 Prayer to St. Wendelin

Source of picture: Christian Parlor Book, The Hermit
O blessed St. Wendelin, you left royalty and riches in order to live a more intense life of love for our Lord; and all the while you worked wonders with the herds and flocks you tended. Please help us likewise to love our Lord more intensely, and to be instruments in His hand for the wonders He wants to work in all those for whom we care, and all those whom we meet. All this we ask in Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

A List of Books to Read for a Good Time
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn- this is a murder mystery novel about a reporter that goes back to her home town to uncover the truth about a string of murders targeting teen girls. this book literally made my skin crawl. its insanely gross and disturbing, which might turn a lot of people off but it’s true to the thriller genre, and no one can write a mystery like Gillian Flynn (the twists and turns of this book are insane). TW for almost everything tho
Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick- this story is told in two parts, one in words and the other in pictures. I’ve never read anything else like it. It tracks two members of the same family and how they find each other after being estranged for years. despite being one of the largest books I own, on the my most recent reread of this book, I got through it in a day.
Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen- this is a coming of age story about a girl (Julie) and a boy (Bryce). Julie is in love with Bryce from the moment she meets him, but Bryce doesn’t feel the same way (unless?). throughout the story you see both sides of every interaction between Julie and Bryce, and form a greater understanding about both of them. it’s heartfelt, feel good, and a quick read.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- everyone and their mom knows this book and I don’t need to rehash it all here. If you are unfamiliar though, might I recommend crawling out from under your rock? but I have to put in on here because this book is the PINNACLE of reading for good time. it’s so fucking good.
Beach Read by Emily Henry- the cutest love story about two writers (Gus and January) that own neighboring cabins on the beach. to get over their writer’s block, they challenge each other to right for the others preferred genre, Gus must write a romance novel and January tries her hand at literary fiction. and of course drama ensues.
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord- a love story set in New York between two teenagers who’s families own rival sandwich shops. the twist? they do all their feuding online, and even though they actually know and like each other in real life, they don’t know that they are rivals on Twitter. I LOVED this book, the characters are so witty and fun, the tension is at maximum capacity, and the story moves quickly!
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón- struggling to think of anything this book doesn’t have?? it’s a got a murder mystery, a love story, and an underground black market book circuit. I love the dynamics of the characters in this book, especially the main character and his best friend, honestly I’d read this book for those characters alone.

Alternate Ending + Wendy was created as a courier pawn instead of a queen. Still has the same body though, and has to deal with the staring on the job.
A Courier’s life is not an easy one, especially when you look like Wendeline Quinn. As the goes about her day, Wendy can’t help but attract attention. With her ridiculous curves, of course, it’s hardly a surprise. And her uniform didn’t help. She was already significantly larger than the average Pawn, so even the largest of uniforms would have been a tight fit for her. Throw in her curves, & no matter how professional she tries to be, she ends up looking like a costumed stripper hired for a private party. Which makes home deliveries incredibly awkward.
More often than not, she ends up having to argue about the authenticity of her profession for a good several minutes before she can get in to even the most mundane of secure locations. Such arguments almost always cause a scene, & wind up with a crowd of people watching security guards berate this “harlot” for wasting their time. And that’s just the ones who take their jobs seriously. Others can get quite obnoxious with the “package” jokes, much to Wendy’s chagrin. No, they don’t get any funnier over time.
There are also those who throw caution to the wind & get handsy. Since Wendy’s uniform barely covers anything, she often ends up a disheveled mess after a few minutes of groping. And the number of times she’s been solicited for sexual favors....ugh. She’d really, really like to punch people sometimes. But then the authorities would get involved, & they were far more likely to believe the assaulted security guards than someone who looked like, well, her.
Good lord did she hate Authority Regulators. The numbers of times in a given day that she’s stopped for a “random pat down” boggles the mind. One would think they have nothing better to do. And, of course, there’s the ones who threaten to charge her with indecent exposure if she doesn’t “convince them” to look the other way. She’d lost track of how many times she’d given “ride along road head” or “back alley bjs”. Not to mention the ones who’ve teased her with their batons. How humiliating.
Of course, the worst is always visiting the Palace. While the guards there are professionals, they have no sense of humor, so getting anywhere takes an eternity. The officials are always snide & condescending, wanting her to get out as quickly as possible before she “causes a scene” (as if they’re not the ones drawing attention to themselves. And her least favorite part, of course, is any time she visits the King & Queen. Not because they treat her poorly. Far from it. They’re always kind, & ask every time if she’s been given any trouble. But it’s just so humiliating to be in front of the King & Queen looking like a pornstar. Especially when she sees the Queen herself. While her own figure is far more voluptuous, the Queen’s overall stature wasn’t so different from Wendy’s. In another lifetime, if she’d been born royal instead of common, maybe she’d be treated with respect. As it was, this was her life. And fuck it was exhausting.

NL’s References

Tartosa Liberated!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Celebrations were had across the world tonight, but none more than in Tartosa, which was recently liberated from Windenburgian control by the combined allied forces of the Simsdom Empire, Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, and Brindleton Bay.
Tumblr media
The invasion was undertaken in an attempt to capture Emperor Victor himself, who was visiting the island nation at the time Simsdom forces landed. Unfortunately, the Emperor managed to escape. Several high ranking members of Emperor Victor's forces were taken into custody, however, such as Captain Julius Albrecht, and the Usurper King of Tartosa himself, Prince Jonas Lofton. Captain Julius' younger sister, Lady Johanna Albrecht, was also taken into custody.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The invasion force landed just in time to crash a party- the arranged marriage of Prince Jonas to Lady Johanna! The marriage was not allowed to go forward, and all participants were given the chance to change their clothes before boarding ships headed for the Empire.
Tumblr media
Successful recapture of Tartosa that it was, the mission was not without its losses. Regretably, we must inform you of the loss of His Lordship, Wendelin Humphrey, Duke of Whitland in Newcrest, and His Lordship, Jean-Paul Yang, Viscount of Grayside in Brindleton Bay. Their sons, Lorenzo, Marquess of Rosenham, and Lord Louis Yang, Lord Yang of Brindleton, have assumed their father's titles, respectively. Our condolences to their families.

Control of Tartosa has been handed back to the Kalogera family, led by King Petros, but will remain occupied by the Allied Forces until the declared end of the war, to prevent Windenburg from retaking the country.

As always with Rowling's books, I loved Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! JK Rowling's words have a curious habit of coming to life, and her characters are funny, and realistic. One of the greatest things about Harry Potter, is that they improve with each book, and you can clearly glimpse the clever, intricate plot Rowling has wove.

Book Tag!!
I’ve been on semi-hiatus, but I decided to check on this rare occurence of free time and I saw that I’ve been tagged. I’ll try my best to deliver (ง •̀_•́)ง
1. First things first, what is your MBTI type?
Probably INTP. That’s what I get the most often (it’s changed before lol).
2. When did you learn to read?
I have no idea. Probably around kinder (age 5-ish)
3. What languages can you read in?
English. Maybe French too, but I’m (slowly) losing it.
4. What book are you currently reading or most recently read? I read Sylvia Plath’s “The Bell Jar” this month. I’m also reading “Don’t Sleep, There Are Snakes” by Daniel Everett for my linguistic anthropology class.
5. Name 3 books you never finished:
I don’t really not finish books... But I know of one, and that’s The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue Don’t get me started on that book (spoiler I kind of hated it). Then there’s also What’s Eating Gilbert Grape which I’ve heard so many good things about...
6. What are your favorite books from childhood?
When I was really young, I liked the Cam Jensen books. I also used to read a lot of books about space and aliens lol. Uh, the Clementine series (I don’t remember anything though)? Oh, and a ton of ghost stories, usually by Mary Downing Hahn. I know I used to read the Boxcar Children series, too.
7. What are your current favorite books?
Top five: The Book Thief (Markus Zusak), The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian (Sherman Alexie), The Messenger (Markus Zusak), The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (Kate Dicamillo), and Flipped (Wendelin Van Draanen).
Honorable mentions: Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock (Matthew Quick) , 11/22/63 (Stephen King), Denton Little’s Deathdate (Lance Rubin), and The Chrestomanci series (Dianna Wynne Jones)
Multiple Choice (bold as many as apply to you & add your own choice if you must)
8. Your favorite genres:
Mystery/Sci-fi/Fantasy/Chick Lit/Young Adult/Horror/Nonfiction/Memoir/Dystopia/Poetry/Self-Help/Historical Fiction/Fanfiction/Realistic Fiction/Biography Um, so I did this weird half-bold thing because I wouldn’t say I read a lot of a certain genre, but I still like the one’s I’ve read. Does that count? lol
9. Your opinion on rereading books:
I do it all the time / has to be a really good book/I can’t stand it/I  haven’t done it since I was a child/I only reread my favorite sections/should be done with caution/ I hardly do it
10. How long does it take you to read one book on average?
1 to 3 days/a week/a few weeks/about a month/several months/one day up to several months, completely depending on how busy I am
I have this app for my library that lets me check out ebooks and audiobooks. I usually get ebooks and binge read them until I’m done, which usually takes about 2-3 days
11. How do you typically read?
Every opportunity I get, in transit, while waiting, etc./Before bed/On the go by audiobook/When I can truly relax/When I remember to.
ahem, basically whenever
12. How many books do you typically read in a year?
None or 1/About 1 to 3/Maybe 4 to 10/At least more than 10/ At least 50/ Too much. I can’t keep track./varies between 5 and 50, generally
2017 was a good year for books, but I’ve forgotten. It was at least 26 28
13. For school assigned books, what type of student are/were you?
It depended on the book. Sometimes, I’d read half the book, then sparknote it. I got a 98 like that once. It was cool. But I also think I read a number of them, like The Great Gatsby, Fahrenheit 451, The Joy Luck Club, and Lord of the Flies.
Well, I guess that’s it! I don’t know who to tag because I don’t know who’s already done it. Again, I haven’t been on tumblr recently, so if I’ve tagged you before and you’d like to do it, go ahead! Share the fun!

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! (The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?) is an isekai anime about salary man, who one day falls asleep and wakes up in the other world, but as someone completely else than himself. He is the Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the eight son of poor noble family living in the small Kingdom, seemingly fated to eat old bread and soup made from water and one day leave his family’s homelands to find his own way just like his older brothers, when he starts to look for a way to learn how he can improve not only his, but also his family’s life (or it’s what I understood from between the line's context, as it isn’t stated outright). Thanks to the ability to read, which is beyond his family’s grasp (his brothers said that they can learn to read and write if they leave the homeland Kingdom, which sets reading as the most important ability you can have in current universe setting), he discovers a magical object which can check if he has an aptitude to use magic, which reacts to him and changes his life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s it, that’s the first episode. Interesting, I dare say. It’s rare for isekai’s to go into “I am someone who woke up in someone else’s body” scenario, as it implies that the other party could end in protagonists real body in the other world (Which makes me wonder how the office managed to survive 5 yo salary Japanese man in a body of a grown up, literally not showing up for work one day and probably getting fired and starving somewhere, because nobody wanted to help him?) and that’s also why it piqued my interest, though you learn it not from the start, but more in like a flashback of a 13yo version of the character which you are introduced to as to the Lord of the land somewhere and a magician with his own mansion, his own servants and a lot of pretty girls to keep him company. Though for now no haremy tropes were showed as yet, which makes me happy.

Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! – 01 (First Impressions) – A Slight Improvement
Tumblr media
In this suddenly wintry economic climate filled with the fear of viral transmission, the prospect of nodding off in front of your self-quarantine dinner and waking up in a completely different world…doesn’t sound so bad?
Our protagonist doesn’t live in Coronaland (the first anime to reference is probably a couple seasons off), so his is a more general ennui towards his meager lot in life. But when he wakes up at a sumptuous wedding banquet in the body of a five-year-old boy named Wendelin, he rightly presumes that lot has improved greatly.
Tumblr media
Alas, the extravagant banquet was only to keep up appearances for the noble guests of his noble family. In reality, they’re dirt poor, sad little lords of a backwater knightdom. Their grand manor is falling apart, and the next meal he has is dry brown bread and soup that’s mostly just water.
Not only that, he’s not the third son of the lord of these lands, but the eighth, when factoring in two half-brothers. Meaning despite technically being nobility, nothing of the very little his family has will ever come Wendelin’s way. And yet, this is still probably a better deal than his salaryman existence.
Tumblr media
That’s because in this world our protagonist has mana, which means he’s able to perform magic, something only one in a thousand people in this world can do. Yet after reading a very brief note on how to use a crystal ball to measure his mana, his father’s library doesn’t have any other material on harnessing that mana. More to the point, his Dad can’t even read!
He heads out into the woods to try to figure things out on his own, hastily drawing a magic circle, striking poses, and calling out names of spells to no avail. That’s when he’s approached by Alfred Rainford, a former court magician who sensed Wendelin’s mana and is confident he’s bound for great things.
Tumblr media
When Alfred accidentally drops a boulder on a giant wild boar, he helps Wendelin summon his wind power and unleash it on the charging boar. It doesn’t do much, but it’s pretty good for a very first try, and Alfred takes care of the boar with a much stronger and more focused wind spell. Still, he thinks Wendelin will surpass him one day.
Sure enough, this episode begins ten years after the MC arrives in this world. He’s a cool cocky teenager wearing the same magician’s robes as Aldred, and having tea with no fewer than four pretty ladies (who mercifully don’t fight over him). I’m not quite sure such a flash-forward prologue was necessary, but I guess the show didn’t want to keep us in the dark about whether Wendelin would make it in this world.
The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me? is…fine? It borrows elements from Youjo Senki, except that the MC becomes a boy rather than a girl and is in a Renaissance-era world rather than WWI steampunk. It has some decent moments of levity. What it lacks in originality it makes up for in its spirit of escapism…and these days, especially with Re:Zero 2 pushed back, I’ll take all the escapes I can get!
