I'm really not as active as I should be here but THIS IS SO REAL dear authors, please take care of yourselves! I know that wanting to meet the demands of others could be a little addciting but that will most likely than not lead to a massive burnout! Take things at your own pace and TAKE BREAKS! Remind yourself that you do not write to satisfy others but to satisfy yourself, and that you do not owe others content. I'm saying this for all authors, but fanfic authors ESPECIALLY becouse unlike published books which are necessary as they can be used as protest and political movements (I'm not saying fanfic can't but the point is), fanfiction is a privelege. It is a gift from fans to their communities. Fanfic authors do not owe you another chapter. It is an extention of a piece of media, a fanwork, and thus it is a creative contribution. Pushing authors to work harder will only do the opposite. It is demotivating, it is downright shaming, and it is definitely not the way to get what you want.
Be patient. Be kind. And if an author discontinues or goes on hiatus? Be understanding. You can't do anything about it.
okay this is a rant that i have to share with you all because this has been in my mind for a while and i need you guys to understand this :
stop pushing writers to post faster.
really. this is an issue that has been going on for a bit on my side and i need to pass this message. this is a topic that is not only affecting me but other writers on the platform and i’m sincerely asking you guys to stop.
whether it’s coming to ask authors when the next chapter is going to drop, or leaving comments that go along the lines of “can’t wait for the next chapter” right after reading the latest one that came out the very day you post such comment, both are extremely discouraging.
this makes us feel like we’re just content machines ceaselessly pumping outrageous amounts of words to tell a story that will get no other recognition than the “papa me want more movie” that some of you type, and it’s really disheartening considering the copious amount of time we spend trying to make something good to read.
i’m literally about to hit the level of an epic word wise (110k) and although i know that the “this is so good i need more”s are meant to tell me that you guys are liking this, it really pressures me more than anything and makes me stressed about imaginary deadlines about my writing.
so please, stop rushing writers to post faster when we offer you this for free.
