Finished commission of my human scientist OC and Lord Boros. I'm really happy with how this came out! My human is only five feet tall but I like to imagine he stands on boxes in order to reach Boros who is canonically over seven feet tall 😂

i don't think it's necessarily the ruling opinion, but there are no doubt some people upset with the end of the Monster Association arc and how everything was "fixed" with time travel. i would like to express the level on which i disagree with this sentiment.

this dislike of the arc's conclusion likely stems from the general dislike of "it's okay, we can just go back in time!" and "it was all a dream :)" style endings, specifically the idea that these endings, under any circumstances, are cop outs. i disagree. if One Punch Man ended there, with saitama travelling back in time to stop everyone's deaths and his fight with garou, i would be immensely dissatisfied with the ending. i think that would be fair. however, vitally, it does not. those events are only the conclusion to a single arc. it brings us to a similar situation as the ending of the lord boros arc, with a city destroyed but none of the important characters dead. therefore, i would argue that such a conclusion to an arc is par for the course for One Punch Man. but there is also the vital matter of "it was all a dream :)" situations and how, in my opinion, while often used as cop outs, they are not inherently so, and dogmatic insistence against them is detrimental to good writing. having every possibility on the table is important in order to develop a plot in the way best suited to it - it's simply lazy writing which misuses these possibilities.

the vital question here is: was the time travel ending of the Monster Association arc a cop out? no, it was not. in my opinion, the events which were reversed could nearly be considered expositional. the cosmic garou vs saitama fight and the events which caused it tell us a heck of a lot about the characters. that garou retains his humanity even after becoming monsterised - when he sees takeo dead, he realises that his actions have not led the world in the direction he hoped, which was always a fairer existence. (he's really not a bad guy at all.) what saitama is capable of - man caused untold destruction during this fight without much of a care, including nearly destroying the earth if not for blast and co; on the technical side, we are shown that his power increases exponentially in response to another being even beginning to approach his level of power, leading him to easily beat a puppet channeling the power of literal GOD. that saitama actually cares a heck of a lot about genos, and clings to him for his sense of humanity, which he is barely hanging onto. it also gives us a taste of god's power, for future reference. the only reason i don't consider it expositional - that is, a "what if" scenario purely for the audience's benefit, which fleshes out the characters under otherwise inaccessible circumstances - is that genos remembers. therefore, these events actually do impact the plot through him. (there's a chance that blast and co also know, which would also affect the plot, but i'm not sure.)

the ever-increasing stakes are vital. we're still within the time frame of shibabawa's great prophecy of a god-level threat. at first, we thought it was lord boros, then garou, and now it's looking like the god-level threat might literally be god. whose power we have gotten a taste of, thanks to the cosmic garou fight. things are very much not hunky dory. there is still plenty of opportunity for things to go terribly wrong, even if it didn't happen this time. especially now that we know that saitama is barely clinging to his humanity. the deaths of everyone he knew affected him for sure, but particular emphasis was placed on the death of genos, because he's saitama's hinge to humanity. (if you deny this, i will be forced to call into question your reading skills.) this ups the stakes in a unique way. before, the concept of genos' death carried far less weight. genos fans would be upset, naturally, and saitama would be pretty sad, because it was clear before this arc that he cared at least somewhat about genos. but now? we know how saitama will react to genos' death. and it's not in a sane manner. genos' death now carries with it the stakes of the earth potentially being destroyed and saitama losing his sanity. at least personally, i will look upon any close calls genos has in future with greater anxiety. this newfound knowledge that we have only gives more ground to the idea that the final enemy might be saitama. either the final enemy of the earth, if he turns into a villain (quite possibly due to losing his mind), or the final enemy of saitama himself, as he battles his depression and struggles to stay in touch with his humanity.

the time travel ending was not a waste, nor a cop out. i encourage you to look at the bigger picture instead of allowing your instinctive reaction of "time travel clutch bad" to inform your opinions. there is still the problem of time travel now being on the table as a solution, but this can be avoided in various ways. for example, the existence of the alternate universe where everyone died and saitama fought cosmic garou as a parallel universe created by time travel, therefore not really fixing the problem, but merely rerouting it. or having time travel somehow taken off the table as a possibility. for example (this is just conjecture and not supported by canon), if god dies, perhaps time can no longer be manipulated, and saitama will have to make a decision between destroying god or saving everyone but letting god live and continue to manipulate events, a decision which he can never bypass because he ends up at the same crossroads no matter which path he takes leading up to that. i understand the concern, and am somewhat concerned myself, but i trust ONE and Murata not to end the series in a dissatisfying way. also, i think it adds another level of interest, even. if saitama's power is so great that he can manipulate time, that he can do basically anything, then hitting a single roadblock which he cannot bypass regardless of his power would undoubtedly have incredibly interesting effects on him psychologically. he could be glad to not be all-powerful, and have to actually fight for something for once, or - much like the events with cosmic garou - he might realise that finding a difficult opponent (in the form of a fighter or an impossible decision) at the expense of the people he cares about doesn't actually make him happy or excited. that perhaps he should have turned his search for feeling and a reason to live elsewhere, beyond fighting, a long time ago. idk 🤷‍♂️

Magnetite Gauntlets (Golem-Skin Gauntlets + Magnetic Theft) - @demimonde-semigoddess

Just gonna get this out of the way right now: I'm surprised they haven't printed this. This card feels precisely like the kind of thing they'd have jammed into any of the sevenish Mirrodin sets they've made over the years, and despite very much being Card 1 Stapled To Card 2, I feel that it does an immaculate job of being mechanically more than the sum of its parts. The Theft always struck me as kind of a weird Act of Treason, though that may be a lack of imagination on my part, but regardless, this feels a whole lot more like you're gonna be attaching your own things rather than somebody else’s, and I kind of love that play pattern. Very simple and very clever.

Sunhome Battle Blessed (Savage Ventmaw + Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief) - @little-red-rabbit

I absolutely appreciate that you took your Temur components and gave them a Boros coat of paint. It's still definitely recognizably a product of its parent cards, but constraining the mana to Only In Combat is just enough of a shift to make this feel oh so much different from where you started. I think my only real gripe here is the mana cost. Six is a pretty hefty price, especially for the kinds of decks that want to play and attack with creatures what play well with cheap combat tricks. If this were, like, four mana (with stats and mana-adding to match) I would find this all that much easier to love, but as is, I think the decks that want this will just be a bit too turned off by the hefty mana value. Wonderful work regardless, love the creativity on display here. Also, final tiny nitpick, do take care to double check that you've the right card name in your textboxes in future.

Lavabrink Summons (Ojutai's Summons + Lavabrink Venturer) - @reaperfromtheabyss

I wish this tried just a little harder in the flavor department (If nothing else I would have loved to see the reuse of Ikoria's Human Soldier tokens here) but good lord this card is brutal. An absolute house. It does not take very much imagination to see the scenarios where this card could absolutely ruin someone's entire career and I am both enamoured and slightly terrified of that. I love how you took the Venturer in question and turned it into effectively two separate Brave the Elements, one for defense and one for offense. Very creative use of your components. Really the only thing that put three other cards above this one for me is that the name is a bit on the nose. A little more polish there and you'd've cinched it this week I think.

Sony Punch Man

One Sony Man? One Punch Sony?

SO. I don’t know if this is actually news to anyone else, but it’s news to me.

Sony is making a live action One Punch Man movie. Not sure how I feel about that...

I’ll withhold judgement for now.

What I won’t withhold is satirical speculation.

Let’s begin.

For starters, Genos is going to be a Peter Parker clone. Basically just take Peter’s MCU characterization and copy paste it onto Genos. Gotta get those Marvel dollars somehow.

As the most prominent female character in the series, Terrible Tornado is going to be “upgraded” to love interest, because that’s how Hollywood rolls. She’ll look her age instead of like a kid so Saitama don’t look like a perv when they get all hot and heavy.

Villain’s going to be Sonic. It can’t be anyone else, really. Boros is too big to just drop on a movie-going audience out of the blue. It would be like Thanos showing up in Iron Man 1.

Who else is there? Dr Genus, he with the convoluted backstory? The Deep Sea King, he with the heart shaped nipples? Garo? Nah. It’s gotta be Sonic. He can’t be named Sonic though. Sega just did a movie. Gotta think of a new name for him. Played by Keanu Reeves, of course.

++Brother Konqui Maken++

Like his counterpart, his geneseed is also of unknown origin. It is safe to assume that, given some similarities with the unknown text on their armour and their physical appearance, they share the same heritage.

Konqui is certainly somewhat younger than Boros, but his skills are quite comparable. Favouring his boltgun and knife over the sniper rifle, he is certainly more aggressive and impatient. Although that does change in the presence of the Slaugth as he exhibits a more focused approach to this vile xenos species.

++Logos-Savant Akthelan++

Logos-Savant Akthelan has been likened to a human computer by several observers. A computer that specialises in processing data and producing the most likely courses of action of enemy combatants, with statistics showing that the information is correct 92.8% of the time. This information has saved the Lord Inquisitor's life on more than one occasion.

When present on the battlefield, Akthelan uses his ability to warn allies of impending danger, so much that he rarely has to use his own weapons.

However, his skills don't extend to the actions of the Alpha Legion nor the Aeldari.

++Inquisitor Viktoras Vercin++

A former gang member in her youth, Viktoras is the sole survivor of a massacre of an entire hive city, perpetrated by a Slaugth and its mind-slaves. Keeping her sanity intact, she survived the roving bands of mindless, zombie-like humanoids and the drifting pillars of flesh by sticking to the shadows and avoiding larger groups.

She was found when a large task force, led by Lord Inquisitor Byzant, arrived too late to stop the massacre and after the Slaugth left. He found the young girl hiding in one of the upper spires, briefly pointing an ornate plasma gun at the Lord Inquisitor, her hideout surrounded by the remains of the mind slaves. He took one look at this brave individual and decided to train her, as his first Acolyte.

She is now a great Inquisitor who has a similar goal to Byzant, but her method are far more unorthodox.

++Ministorum Priest Emila Zukoph++

Emila has been assigned to the Lord Inquisitor to try and teach him the Word of the God-Emperor. Whilst initially entirely ignorant of why she was chosen for this task, and confused as to why he wasn't branded a radical and a heretic, she has settled into her role as one of his advisors, reminding him of the Imperial Faith in matters.

However, this isn't to stay that her faith hasn't been shaken time and again, especially when the origins of the Lectitio Divinitatus were revealed, accidentally.

#D-9101: [?] A gargantuan sized UFO (similar to the one from the Fifth Wave or Lord Boros' ship from One Punch Man, both size and design) that takes inspiration from Jean Jacket (alien ship), both in behavior and shape with minor alterations. The surface of the "ship" is covered with small blinking lights, windows, and jets as a disguise/illusion. On the front of the ship is the anterior pore or "eye hole" for Dissonantia's eye to look out from. Underneath is the "mouth", or the ventral pore of the ship, where biomechanical clawed tendrils and tentacles emerge from, stretching out hundreds of miles and miles away to capture prey. Also on the underside are large laser cannons that Dissonantia can use to shoot with. The inside of the ship is similar to the inside of Jean Jacket. The tendrils and tentacles transfer captured prey into the esophagus (a large vertical air vent in the form of an expandable biomechanical tube that emerges down from the mouth; think of an xenomorph's second mouth) that sucks the prey into the stomach that's in the center of the entire ship. The stomach is an anti-gravity and spherical room that allows the prey to float around and calm themselves before the vent doors shut, in which the walls of the room will turn into actual stomach walls and the room starts to flood with digestive acids. The dissolved food will be absorbed and used as fuel for the rest of the ship and inedible items will be projectile vomited out. When the situation calls for it, Dissonantia will transform the inside of the ship into a hospitable space for her servants and army to rest in the event of invading a planet; In that case the inside of the ship would be similar to the Other's ship and Lord Boros' ship, equipped with a cafeteria, security room, lounge room, bedrooms, bathrooms, prisoner cells, armory, greenhouse, communication center, laboratory, etc., minus the captain's deck located in the front of the ship - this is where Dissonantia's eye or her physical form will reside in. The ship has numerous magical abilities and can perform reality bending feats, such as: causing electromagnetic waves that temporarily shut down electrical appliances and temper with radio signals, emitting a distorted audio of Dissonantia's voice merely for psychological torment, entering worm holes and skip drives, disguising as a thunderstorm (usually to dispose of waste over a large city), teleportation, telekinesis, producing sound waves that push everything back with extreme force, invisibility, and high speeds of flight. Dissonantia often targets humans, but wouldn't mind devouring rivaling aliens. Weird habit of kidnapping pets and animals (not for digestion). [?] (Inspired by NOPE (2022) by Jordan Peele)

One silly little thought

This may be a bit OOC for the characters involved, but I still find the thought cute, so Imma share it.

Lately, I just thought of a small scene that would take place after Saitama fought and defeated Lord Boros at the end of One Punch Man season 1.

In that scene, for some reason, I pictured Saitama out on his balcony smoking before Genos comes back upstairs, having likely brought out the garbage.

Genos instantly speaks up about how bad smoking is, but Saitama is a tad dismissive, sounding lost in thought.

When Genos asks if something is wrong, Saitama admits that he's reminiscing about the fight he had with Boros, how they're alike and he pondered if he could have ended up similarly if someone like Genos hadn't shown up to anchor him to some sense of humanity he was losing before.

The point of the scene is basically just Saitama thanking Genos for being there and I found it cute, so enjoy the idea, even if the scene may be a bit OOC with the random cigarette and Saitama reflecting that deeply.

I may have gone a bit over board with the design to the point where it doesn't really resemble Irezumi anymore and I might have to simplify it if I want to keep using it as a design, but for my first time designing a traditional Japanese Irezumi inspired tattoo.

I really wanted it to represent his original alien design.

I plan to do a back piece as well but gonna take a break first before I jump into that `(*>﹏<*)′

LIMIT

Aku ingat 3-4 tahun lalu saat aku mulai inisiatif nabung lembaran 20 ribu. Itu banyak yaaaaa dengan penghasilanku yang kalau ditotal cuma sekitar dua setengah juta, bayar kos sendiri, makan sendiri, bensin sendiri, lalu kalau dapet 20 ribuan harus dimasukkin celengan pula. Kadang sakit hati kalau dapat kembalian dua lembar 20 ribuan 🤣 tapi seneng juga karena celengannya mulai terasa padat.

Tapi emang dasarnya orang miskin ya, begitu celengan penuh ya langsung dijebol buat beli sesuatu. Nggak bisa gitu punya tabungan yang awet buat dana cadangan apalagi investasi kwkw. Alhamdulillah dengan tabungan 20 ribuan sudah kebeli HP Android 2x dan laptop seken RAM 4GB.

Laptopnya masih awet sampe sekarang, ditempelin stiker jiyuu no tsubasa. Kadang suka mbatin coba dulu duitnya nggak ngepas banget ya mungkin bisa dapet yang speknya lebih bagusan, yang desainnya lebih ramping dan enteng. Sekarang umpamanya mau ganti laptop yang bagusan sih bisa bisa aja, nggak perlu bobol celengan juga.

Tapi ya buat apa, ini juga masih ada :)

Entahlah mungkin karena terbiasa susah kali ya jadi rasanya mental juga tahan banting sama keadaan dan barang-barang seadanya. Kadang takut zhalim juga sama diri sendiri (karena sebenernya mampu tapi sayang aja gitu beli baru), tapi nggak sih, insya Allah belum di tahap yang nyiksa diri sendiri gitu, I know my limit.

Sepekan lalu aku cerita dikit-dikit tentang motor seken baruku (motornya seken tapi baru beli paham lah ya) ke someone. Aku nggak cerita duluan, dia yang nanya, setelah selesai ceritanya dia nanya lagi: apa rasanya beli motor sendiri?

Kwkw pertanyaan apaan tuh, aku jawab sambil nyengir "ya biasa aja sih, motor yang sebelumnya kan juga beli sendiri, seken juga, ini udah kedua kali, nggak gimana-gimana"

Sebenernya beli yang pertama juga nggak gimana-gimana.

Responnya: "gila sih lo keren banget, bayangin coba, beli motor sendiri!!"

Nggak, aku nggak geer dipuji begitu, aku kan emang beli apa-apanya sendiri, and has been like that for seven years 😭 there's always a struggle behind me buying something, kwkwkwk.

Cuma aku tetep bersyukur, aku termasuk yang Allah kasih kemudahan untuk menjalani hidup. Entah ya orang melihatnya gimana, aku sendiri merasa sangat cukup.

Tapi bohong sih kalau dibilang aku nggak kepengen apa-apa lagi, ya honestly aku mau punya rumah sendiri buat naro buku-bukuku yang udah nggak ketampung lagi, ruang belajar yang lega, mobil buat kabur ke pegunungan kalau lagi galau, apalagi ya, udah kayanya sih.

Cuma segitu aja kepengenku ya Lord emang dasar orang miskin, bahkan nghayal aja nggak bisa tinggi-tinggi karena pengetahuanku terhadap luxury things cuma sampai situ 🤣

Kemarin malam aku nemu diagram tingkatan jam tangan mewah kwkwkw bahkan Rolex dan Mont Blanc yang gue rasa merk mahal banget baru nyampe tingkat high belum prestige. Lalu tadi siang nemu lagi tingkatan brand mewah; Gucci, Prada, itu cuma accessible core shaaay, di tingkat teratas ada Leviev dan Graff. Asli, kalo nggak karena Netflix buat dokumenter tentang Simon Leviev kayanya sampe mati juga gue bakal ignorant sama merk Leviev.

Makanya lucu banget manusia kalau sombong tuh, padahal di atas Gucci masih ada Leviev. Padahal di atas bumi masih ada langit, lalu masih ada atmosfer dan galaksi. Yang bisa manusia sombongkan ya sesuatu yang sebenarnya masih dalam limit manusia itu sendiri. Dan malu-maluin banget kalau limitnya cuma sebatas iPhone tapi sombongnya ke mana-mana 🤣

Nanti di surga akan ada kenikmatan yang tidak pernah dilihat mata dan tidak pernah terbayangkan di pikiran. We thought we, humans, know everything. Tapi Allah yang tak terbatas ilmu dan kekuasaannya sudah menyiapkan sesuatu yang bahkan manusia boro-boro punya, tahu aja nggak. Allah pun mampu menyiapkan lebih dari itu. Milky Way berisi 8 planet: 1 berhasil ditaklukkan, sisanya misteri. Sementara itu di luar sana ada 2 miliar galaksi lainnya, entah berapa triliun planet lagi, bahkan tidak semuanya terdeteksi satelit, we just know they are there. We just know we have our limit to reach them.

Limit. We are full of limits.

3 tahun lalu limitku mentok di empat juta, aku nggak bisa beli laptop yang lebih mahal dari itu, bahkan meskipun cuma nambah 50 ribu. Hari ini, well, alhamdulillah jauh lebih banyak, tapi ya belum apa-apa juga, semoga limitku nggak turun lagi.

Semoga apa yang terbatas ini selalu Allah ridhai dan berkahi. Limit is just a number btw, kalau Allah tanamkan kecukupan di hati angka-angka itu tidak berarti :)

Another day, another unparalleled peril.

The scene on the television was one of absolute carnage. Smoke rose in the distant background of a collapsing city, putting on full display the horrifying reality of innumerable deaths and damages. The anchorman was putting on a failing facade of calm and evenness, but his tone was laced with fear so potent it could've sent most monsters into a frenzy, desperate to pick apart what they saw as weak. Talons barely twitched as the viewer of the screen felt a bare ghost of sympathy, hoping, as morbid as it may sound, that the man didn't have a family that would be forced to mourn. He blinked hard as the screen turned to static at the anchorman's shout, signifying what was hopefully a painless death, or even more hopefully, being incapacitated in a way that he could still be saved. The viewer of the television silently crawled from their floor to their window, tail barely waving as they crept to look through the barely open curtains, hoping to catch a glimpse of the single neighbor they had.

A hero.

Saitama has a single neighbor before Genos arrives, a Monster Writer who thinks Saitama is very cool.
