Mika, David and Harold edition.

Funnily enough, despite the fact that @seducemefanficsandheadcanons said I inspired them to go over Aron's family tree, I have to credit them for the reason I really wanna dive into Mika, David and Harold's backstories. So thanks for that! :D

Also this is gunna have a LOT of projecting cause this was basically my family.

Let's start with the childhood of David. David is the only child of Harold Anderson and his wife Annabell Anderson. (side note, if anyone remembers how the daughter of James and Mika was named "Annabelle".... that was pure coincidence. I did not mean for that to happen but, yknow what? It's canon now, Mika named her daughter after her grandmother) You would think that means that David had a nice childhood but not easily. Harold was a FAR stricter parent back in his youth. It was how he was raised and how he raised his son.

David was always expected to run the family business and adopt Harold's reputation as the strongest warlock of the Abyssal Plains. He learnt business and magic at a young age and the pressure was high. David's response to the pressure was to emotionally shut down and simply do what he was told believing it would lead to a better future in the end.

As a person, David is cold, calculated and a strict planner. He was not emotionally there for his child, again thanks to the aforementioned emotional shut down. Even though Laura tried to gently push David in the right direction, he was too stubborn to see what she was trying to tell him and he missed out on truly raising his daughter because of that. Harold would try to reach out to David but he was already iced out of David's life by then.

Now let's cover something here. This backstory is the reason David treated Mika the way he did. However, David still did Mika wrong by not putting down his walls to comfort her. It's an explanation, not an excuse. And after a certain age, David becomes responsible for his own action, he can't (and fair enough, doesn't) point to Harold and blame him for anything past his childhood.

So what changed between the Harold Anderson that raised David and the Harold Anderson that Mika knew? Simply put, he grew old. Harold realized that being strict with yourself and others was a sad way to live and that made him look back at how he raised David and ask "Was I too hard on the boy?". The answer is yes, obviously. Harold didn't want David to raise Mika the way that he raised David so he would try to intervene in small ways to give Mika the safe space David should have had.

Of course, that unintentionally created a rift between Mika and David when it came to Harold as they both essentially got two different Harolds and thus two different impressions of who Harold Anderson is.

Does David hate Harold? No. Just like how Mika doesn't hate David and even wants to make him proud to a certain extent, David still cared about his father and somewhat still sought his approval. David was just bitter at how he was treated. When Harold died, David was upset, devastated even but, he refused to let himself grieve and threw himself right back into his work. It seemed like he didn't care but he did.

Does David himself eventually grow the same way Harold did? Maybe not as dramatically but, yes. By the time Mika has kids of her own, David will have the same realization that life kinda sucks when you're too strict and that he was too cold to his daughter so he's much warmer to his grandchildren than he was to Mika. The major difference is that Mika finally broke the cycle of generational trauma by not being a strict, cold parent like her grandfather and father.

Though funnily enough, there is still a route where a strict, cold father is a problem. Enter James. The more I think about Mika and James, the more I realize how similar their backstories are and the results are that James becomes the next cold father on the list. Definitely not as cold as David or Harold but he's got some issues. And now that David has taken the metaphorical stick out of his ass, he can then beat James with it because there is no way in hell that David is going to let James basically start up the cycle again.

Introducing Cassie's dad into the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE, he was the bonnie bully and Michael's friend back in 83, but after the bite he never wanted to associate himself with Fazbear Entertainment again

Unfortunately to financially support himself and Cassie he had to accept job at the pizzaplex as a technician and face the guilt of his past, he's a good dad to Cassie and would do anything for her (also he will throw hands with every animatronic that exists after he discovers his daughter is trapped under the pizzaplex)

Look, we both know Grosky pretty well, so I think you’ll agree that he’s been acting… strange? Normally he’s loves his job, since he always says he’s ‘Grosky of the Yard’, but now he’s been absent for days. Not only that, he dropped out of the sexyman tournament! That’s so unlike him, and it’s not like he didn’t have a chance either, considering his massive rack

I’m sure there’s others affected that I don’t know of as well. Have you heard anything else about these reassignments? Or do you know of anyone who could’ve been reassigned?

It’s a nice day for a picnic, don’t you think? I feel like at least some sort of celebration is deserved, with the resurrection of @billhawks. Anyone want to join? I’m gonna make some sandwiches and cut them up into little triangles. It’ll be great fun!
