a lil concept/design sheet of the gangs' costumes for my deltarune halloween comic! :]
multiple paragraphs of yapping about it under the cut bc i actually put way too much thought into who got which costume lol
i kept a few things in mind while trying to decide each character's costume, the biggest of which were probably A) it should still look good when combined with their dark world outfit B) i wanted them all to be classic halloween monsters (so no other characters like mario or minecraft steve or w/e) C) none of them could dress as a monster who is another major character in ut/dr just cuz i thought it'd be a little weird lol (so no skeletons or ghosts for example) and D) i tried to keep in mind each character's family life/accessibility to a costume in the first place (so kris + noelle have the more elaborate costumes vs berdly and susie having theirs be more low effort/over their normal clothes)
originally i had sketched susie as a zombie/frankenstein sorta creature, but then i remembered susie calling kris the 'school zombie' (plus kris's general zombie-like neutrality) so i ofc switched that over to kris. had the idea that the dark world would make their halloween costumes more 'real' so thats why their brain is out in that one lol
didn't have too many other ideas for susie, as a lot of the ones i was having broke some of the rules i listed above. at first i was thinking maybe werewolf but i felt that the ears/tail might lean a little too cutesy for her, and then i was thinking maybe like godzilla-esque but didn't know how to do that when susie is already vaguley godzilla-esque by herself. i also wanted to keep her costume looking more low-effort due to her parents (if they even exist) probably not caring enough to get a nice costume. which is how we ended up at toilet paper mummy susie
noelle is a witch because i thought it'd be cute + i wanted her to be matching with catti (who i think would also obviously be a witch for halloween). her costume is the most elaborate (complete with matching candy pail), both because i think she'd like dressing up for halloween and well. the mayor's daughter certainly has appearances to keep up doesnt she? (also quite proud of her little shawl changing to look sort of like angel wings in the dark world :] )
berdly i also struggled with. my first impulse was to make him some kinda video game character, but like i said i kind of wanted them all to be more classic halloween monsters, plus i didn't really think any of those ideas would mesh well with his dark world outfit. ended up going with vampire bc i feel like its one of the more nerd-coded halloween monsters out there. i liked drawing his little fake fangs it makes him look silly
#idk if anyone will read all that. but i spent too much time writing it to just delete it now#like listen. i Could have just picked arbitrarily yes. but isnt it more fun to consider how each characters theoretical economic background#and relationship with their parents might effect what halloween costume theyre able to pick out#deltarune#deltarune fanart#kris dreemurr#noelle holiday#kris deltarune#noelle deltarune#susie deltarune#berdly deltarune#berdly#my art

Halloween Asks - Agron
I saw these posted here, so I had sim!Agron answer these questions, while I goofed around in-game for the holidays.
__________________________________________________
🎃Pumpkin: What is your favorite season?
No hard feelings, but I love summer. Great weather, guys walking around shirtless everywhere....it’s great. But autumn is great, too! The way Nasir’s skin gets that extra golden glow, surrounded by all those fall colors....wow. 🌽💦
👻Ghost: Do you get scared easily?
Psht! Who? Me? Never..... >_>
🎃Candy Corn: What is your favorite kind of candy?
TIM TAMS Okay fine, KitKat bars?
👻Vampire: What is your favorite supernatural creature?
Werewolves! In my homeland, East of the Rhine, we call them Ulfhedinn. They’re sorta like berserkers, but cooler (fight me on this. I dare you).
🎃Witch: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Well, I already have super strength 💪 and super stamina. 🌽🌽
👻Trick or Treat: What was your favorite Halloween costume?
I’ve dressed up as a Werewolf, and Frankenstein. But Nasir said he loved my gladiator outfit, he really got off on it. 🌽💦 All those straps pinched though.
🎃Black Cat: Are you superstitious?
No. F*** the gods.
👻Ouija Board: If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
I was named after an Illyrian king, and my last name means fire bolts. So, no.
🎃Graveyard: Do you know any good scary stories?
My brother Duro is an utter psychopath -- he could give Stephen King a run for his money.
👻Skeleton: Have you ever broken a bone?
Plenty, but only ever in fights. My stupid brother Duro broke his clavicle falling out of bed during a hangover, and his leg after leaping out of our treehouse. ISTG he’s adopted.
🎃Werewolf: What is your favorite urban legend?
Oh man, Germany’s got some great ones -- Frankenstein, the Wild Hunt...it’s madness. But the Morbach Monster is a werewolf urban legend, so...let’s just go with that one. 🐺
👻Horror Flick: Do you like scary movies? If so, which one is your favorite?
Duro and I used to watch the It miniseries every Halloween, and loved the movie remakes. My favorite might be the original Frankenstein though.
🎃Haunted House: Would you prefer to live in the city or the country?
I’ve lived in both. I used to hate living on a goat farm, but now all I dream of is retiring in one with Nasir, and just settling down and leaving the crazy city behind.
👻Zombie: Do you think that you could survive a zombie apocalypse?
Rabid zombies, shite Romans, cryptic vampires -- I’m indestructible, mate.
🎃Mummy: What is your biggest fear?
Being crippled and helpless.
👻Bat: Do you have any pets?
Sure do! And look! Fleck got himself a girlfriend, Nuqta! Nasir wants them to have 99 puppies, so we can have 101 Dalmatians. O_O That’s not happening. Barca’s a vet -- I’ll make SURE it doesn’t happen. But a few pups is fine.
🎃Cauldron: What kind of potion would you make if you had the opportunity?
I dunno, Nasir’s the potions scientist witch doctor guy.
👻Full Moon: Do you prefer night or day? 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑
Nasir loves nighttime, but I like daytime. I can’t see scheiss at night.
🎃Corn Maze: What is your favorite autumn activity?
Uncle Lugo’s Blood and Slime Paint Ball Corn Maze Raid!
👻Broomstick: What exciting places have you traveled to?
Midnight Hollow’s crazy! Nasir and I have been to Frankenstein’s castle, Dracula’s castle and the Hoia Baciu Forest.

Hekk man I dunno do the werewolf and vampire and other monsters. All of em. Pls. I didn't even read the questions honestly but I wanna know the answers
Vampire: Someone offers you a chance at immortality. Do you take it, and why or why not?
As tempting as that is, especially considering what I just answered, I’d have to deny it. I hate saying goodbyes and get attached to people so easily, so a life so long that everyone and everything I care about goes away...well, it sounds like an underworld level punishment
Werewolf: If you had to spend your life with just one person, who would it be?
That’s a really hard question. I know it sounds rude but being with just one person and never interacting with anyone else sounds boring. As much as you love and care for someone, we’re social creatures, and I am already starved of the friendship most people have. I do have a few people in mind, but the problem is they are all important to me and I couldn’t really choose any over the other. But if I must answer the question, my friend Jay. I don’t know a lot abut him, admittedly, but he seems to be the most optomistic person I know, and I’d need that if we were to be alone together forever.
Witch: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I’d get rid of arrogance. That causes so many problems to me, personally and globally. So many probles in my life are because people think they know better, but so often do not.
Ghost: Do you have any regrets?
Short answer, yes. I regret letting myself being taken advantage of often by family. I regret falling into a group of friends who couldn’t are less about me. I regret not being myself for so long that I’ve forgotten how to. So yeah, a lot of regrets.
Frankenstein: Is someone telling you how to live your life, or are you an independent person?
As much as I wish I could be independent, I’m in a situation where I can’t be. At the moment, I’m basically being held financially hostage by a person who has always told me what to do, and has never really cared of my opinion. Though I want to speak out, the second I o I could lose any chance of hope that I have.
Mummy: If you were to fall into an eternal sleep, do you think anyone would miss you?
For roughly a month, at most. But I’m replaceable. People move on. Things change. I’ll probably be buried, forgotten, and people will tell stories about me that really don’t mean much because so many never bothered to know me in the first place. So for a little bit, but then they’d just live their lives
Zombie: Do you miss anyone right now?
All my friends. So much. I am stuck here in a place with a lot of anger and just plain mean spiritedness, and all my friends make me feel pretty happy and cared about,
Faerie: If you could get away with anything, what would you do?
At the moment, marry more than one person without consequence. But there will always be consequence.
Nymph: What are you like when you’re by yourself?
Scared. Worried. I sing to myself often. In all honesty I get so bored and distract myself so often there’s not much there
Mermaid: How far would you go to keep the one you love?
To hell an back. For both.
Shapeshifter: What would you change about yourself?
My anxiety, I’d lessen it immensely. I can’t communicate anything because I’m constantly worried about changing a person’s opinion or hurting a person’s feelings. I’ve trapped myself in my own fear of how others feel about me
Banshee: If you knew one of your loved ones/best friends had only one day left to live, how would you spend that last day with them?
I’d be a little kinder, a little more lenient with money, but I’d like to do it like just a normal day. I’d want their last day to be nice, but I wouldn’t want to worry them with the reminder that they don’t have long
Siren: If you could make anyone do anything, what would you make them do?
I’d make a certain someone step down and give his position to a more qualified person. You know who I mean
Genie: If you had one wish that would come true and couldn’t be reversed, what would you ask for?
I’d wish that all my friends could be happy much more often then they are sad
Fury: What is a word/phrase that you dread to hear?
“Don’t ever talk to me again”
Incubus: What would someone have to do to get in your pants?
I’m going to be honest, it would be easy. I have a high sex drive and am very easy to flirt with. At the moment though, I’m not looking for that,
Succubus: What’s one thing you can’t live without?
My friends. Like I said they make me feel nice, happy, and loved. I di live without anyone like them, for a long time, and I don’t want to go back

Horror questionnaire
I was sent a questionnaire by a fan in NZ, for his doctorate or something. So, in conjunction with the fact that WRITING THE HORROR MOVIE (Bloomsbury) is now to be reprinted- I publish my answers.
What is the greatest difference between a horror movie made in the 20th century as opposed to one made in the 21st century?
Combining this with your final question, the difference is in the ubiquity of Technology. Pre-1999, when we had a glut of ‘pre-millennial angst’ movies, there were no smart phones, less CCTV and/or continual surveillance, and of course less CG. What there was back then was rarely convincing. ‘The Mummy’ was the first to attempt frightening scarab beetles, but they just looked plastic. Even in Cabin in the Woods, once the monsters get loose, they are frightening because of their power to destroy, but because we know that they are computer enhanced drawn images, we are not actually scared.
The best Movies (Cloverfield, The Mist, The Void) use CG so well and sparingly that we are terrified. Thus, the Horror Movie of the 21st C, has so much at its disposal, but conversely, so much to hold it back. Every Teen Slasher has the issue of ‘no reception’ and lack of Internet (which would enable them to escape). You have to show so much less now, make a virtue of hand held shaky-cam and the growth - since Blair Witch- of found footage.
There is a desire, moving away from the Universal Monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, etc.) to make horror real, suburban, in your face, and thus we have had amazing franchises such as Saw, Final Destination and Hostel (Torture porn or gorno) and ghosts with Paranormal Activity, as well as Slashers with Wrong Turn, to name but a few.
To summarise there is a demand for actuality (as in the Conjuring/Sinister/Exorcism franchises). The teens in Get Out or It Follows must, as with Halloween (Carpenter 1976), strike at the heart of a middle-America teen audience and the Asian market. I could make more points about Asian horror but we’ll leave it at that for now.
What subgenre of horror do you believe has been the most consistent throughout the years?
I’m not sure if you mean consistently successful or continuously made and remade? It’s easiest to start with Zombies, as, since the remake of Dawn of the Dead (Zack Snyder 2004) and 28 Days later, (Boyle, 2003) plus the long running The Walking Dead, there has been a glut. Sean of the Dead pastiched the genre, which usually sounds the death knell. There are so many zombie movies out there now: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Zombeavers, Zombie strippers and World War Z plus Train to Buzan. There seems to be no end (certainly with low budget filmmakers) to these genre pieces. The symbolism is overt: we have become blind to our crass commercialism and it will eat us. We are destroying this planet and the End is nigh. This is a common trope of turn of the century angst, but it was very much around in the post-war era as seen in all the 1950s Sci -Fi monster horrors.
Tech, in particular digital cameras (rendering film stock redundant) has been a transforming miracle. You can correct your mistakes in the edit. You can shoot and shoot until you are happy. This has opened up every subgenre. Nothing is impossible anymore. I would say that found footage horror” and “the undead” have thus far been the predominant modes, but also that their time will soon pass.
In your opinion what makes a good horror remake?
Some movie remakes The Hills have Eyes, Dawn of the Dead, Evil Dead even, are better than the originals: slicker, quicker, gorier, more effective. A remake works best when the tech is much improved but so has the characterisation and plotting. Halloween (Rob Zombie) didn't work because he focussed far too much on the asylum years – on how a monster was made. We no longer care about that (because we have been told the narrative so many times) but we want to see the plot developing. A good horror remake pays tribute to the narrative of its progenitor but is not encumbered by it. Thus, you might lose a weak story strand or cut out a character if they were thinly written in the first place. There are some movies that are so unique (Hellraiser) that I think you cannot remake them effectively.
Finally, almost without exception, the prequel and sequel are just a cash in (be it the Exorcist or Hannibal Lector) and should not trouble us.
In your opinion, who was the most iconic horror character of the 20th century?
Hannibal Lector, an update of the evil genius that goes all the way back to Charlie Chan films. He is utterly charming and completely ruthless. Although Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, got there first, Hopkins portrayal is more attractive and deeper. It has influenced all subsequent attempts at portraying serial killers, who in real life are dull lone gun nuts (e.g. The Las Vegas shooter) Hannibal and Buffalo Bill are far more compelling.
How has the increase in studio produced blockbusters impacted the horror genre?
That’s also a hard one to define because it’s more the distributors, such as Lionsgate, plus Sony and Warner’s. Studios wants franchises – Final Destination, Saw, etc. but they also want stars in them. Tom Cruise’s Mummy remake in 2017 was a total flop. They are better at Super heroes and fantasy and we ought to leave them to it. Horror is best left to the Indies. Having said that, in the UK, Hammer is producing great work, as are Irish funded films such as In Fear and The Hallow.
What horror movies are most notably a product of the political climate?
Horror is more social than political. We have had plenty of right wing governments and leaders but there has been no overt demonization of Thatcher or Gorbachev or Berlusconi or Trump in movies. Maybe they are demons enough already? There are issues that are addressed in horror, such as global warming/overcrowding, poisoning of us and the oceans, and most have been addressed as Zombie/Undead movies. I would suggest that we are moving backwards and failing to learn from history. Horror tends to accept that we are ruled by the vile and the greedy and puts that aside in order to find and deal with the horror that is inside all of us.
What must a horror movie do to be considered “good” in your opinion?
For me it must certainly scare, subvert, violate and chill. I want it to be open-ended and ideally make me look over my shoulder in the night. Few movies do this. I have been through gore and disgust and you reach a point where you are sated. This is in evidence today in obesity and reality TV but sadly, we are so greedy now that it's just going to go on until it bursts. I prefer my horror to be of the mind, of dark corners, of unease and dread. I prefer the build-up to the climax, which usually disappoints. For me, the greatest horror movies are Martyrs, and Raw, no coincidence both European (France. Belgium). The French really know how to do horror.
What decade was most prolific for horror films?
That is hard to say but I’m going to say a dead heat between the 1980s with the advent of video and Pay TV plus cable, which meant that there was a massive flood of poor quality crappy horror movies. That and the last decade (2000s) with the proliferation of the found footage movies- likewise, easy and cheap to do. The first thing, it seems with new technology, is create porn. Perhaps the second is the low budget horror flick.
What was your favourite horror movie of the last decade?
Martyrs is the best. I am also a big fan of in no particular order. Sinister. Raw. Eden Lake. Kill List. The Awakening. The Babadook. American Mary. Banshee Chapter, 10 Cloverfield Lane. Don't Breathe. The Orphanage. Old Boy The Witch and What We Do in the Shadows.
The best TV horror is American Horror story volumes 1, 2 and 3.
Where do you see the horror genre going in the near future?
Impossible to say. CG has provided us with all manner of monsters and there seems nowhere to go now with all those Cthulhu types. Frankenstein and Dracula are sleeping lightly right now, but they are bound to return – they always do. It’s all in a very healthy place right now, after all there is so much horror out in the real world that it can easily be realised in film.
Long form TV streaming services are also beginning to catch on with American Horror story. Stranger Things and The TV adaptation of the Mist. It is hard to sustain the threat for ten episodes but these are superb. There will be more there and I think horror will decamp to Netflix (because that is where its world-wide audience is (95 million and counting). One caveat. With the exception of AHS, you don’t really re-watch the box sets so they have a limited streaming life, but that won’t stop Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Sky and others from buying them in bulk. I hope.
Axman – my psychological thriller (now in postproduction) will hopefully be out in 2019.

How about some late Halloween spooky asks? It's a Monster Mash! Vampire, Witch, Ghost, Frankenstein, Mummy, Zombie, Faerie, Nymph, Shapeshifter, Genie, and Fury.
♪ A MONSTER MASH ♪
Oh bloody heaven, I’m going to have fun with these asks! I was wonderin’ when I was going to get one of these!
I hope you comrades like the fact I talk in paragraphs.
Vampire: Someone offers you a chance at immortality. Do you take it, and why or why not?
It would depend on what price it must cost, but I can take it if it’s mandatory. Using it for fun will make it less joyful while you watch your loved ones die. I’d use it for the benefit of carrying on my family’s tradition, and also in order to bring harmony to the world and setting neutral ties to other places.
Witch: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Out of the plethora of things I’ve seen in the world, it would be how people view one another.
I’ve grown up having to deal with racism as a kid, whether having to go visit my grandmother or having classmates smudge news reports on my face. Hell, my sister had to deal with a teacher who gave her a zero just because of her race, and it took months for the district to fire her. Thank god the only place she’s working now is in her grave.
Seriously, I wished we live in a world where nobody judged one another based on race, then we’d all be satisfied.
Ghost (Fuck yeah): Do you have any regrets?
If you comrades have looked into my “Chianti Talks” tag, you’d notice that I happen to have a bloody ton of regrets, most of them simple and others that still haunt me to this day. The most notable one with with an MLP Blog that led to an unhealthy relationship with my ex-friend, but that I’m not mentioning.
However, none of it can top off the story of my first boyfriend in middle school that got karma slithering in his sleeves.
It was a gentle November, and I was heading onward to my Technology class. There would be this boy who’d follow me around, saying they’re friends with a person I, too, am friends with. He’d ask me out, literally on the spot, and I was so uncomfortable to where I fled from him constantly. This would last for an entire month, just me trying to get away from that damning devil.
Then one day, one of my friends came up to me and asked me why I was running away from him, and I told him that I didn’t like his attitude and wanted him to stay away from me. He then said that I should at least try to get a boyfriend, instead of distancing myself. His reason? He said this,
“You want to be free from the battered imprisonment of your home, don’t you?”
This was a very true statement, since at one point I exploded at my family, calling them out on mocking me constantly without knowing how hurt I was. Plus, I had very limited friends both on social media and in real life, and an easy target for bullies and nearly became one myself. So one day, I eventually considered the offer, and thus got a boyfriend… Or so I did.
Want to know what I didn’t like about him? He’d be constantly be in my face, his breath equivalent to the grossest stench you can think of. He’d also try to show me he can draw, but it was just lazily made stick figures done on crumpled paper. Plus, the things he said were pretty creepy, such as how he’d die for me.
Luckily, my elder sister, Ari, found out, and told me that I’m better off without a boyfriend like him. I broke up with him, not understanding why she wanted me to at first, but then I knew why: He eventually replaced me with another girl, and then replaced her with another. He even went as far as getting a girl pregnant in high school and die, forcing him to drop out and now lives in the streets. I never had another boyfriend again afterwards.
The only thing you can learn from this is that love is a disgusting feeling. The next time someone tries to convince you that getting married will get you money, you’re better off working hard to become rich just like Rockefeller did.
Frankenstein: Is someone telling you how to live your life, or are you an independent person?
Ah, bloody hell, comrades. I’m already going to college next year and once that happens, I’ll be saving up for my personal doing, so it’s obvious I’m independent.
Mummy: If you were to fall into an eternal sleep, do you think anyone would miss you?
My sister would be devastated by this, but to be brutally honest, I doubt other people would miss me. I would often tell my sister I feel like I’m a curse that had been responsible for the many events, though my sister did say otherwise. Yes, she knows I’m a bit stubborn at times and get grimly quiet when angered, but I love her as much as she does for me. We’re nothing without each other, and that’s why we call ourselves the “Double A Sisters.”
If she is in eternal sleep, who’s going to keep me company? If myself, wouldn’t she feel like she lost something important?
Zombie: Do you miss anyone right now?
I miss my old friends, and half of the time my exes (though I come to realize how bigoted they were from the start and then look at vines). It ain’t going to stop me from reaching my goals.
Faerie: If you could get away with anything, what would you do?
If you’ve asked my sister, my only wish is to get away with lying. I am known to get past the staff during my school years so I’d get to class faster, but making an excuse to why I’m late was never enough for the teachers. Same can be said for why I didn’t come to a friend’s birthday party. :\
Nymph: What are you like when you’re by yourself?
When I’m alone, I tend to hum to myself and dance a bit around the house, making myself a small pizza, play music at full blast, put on a fancy gothic outfit of my choice, lie down a bit in case of a headache, and do an art stream / draw some stuff.
Shapeshifter: What would you change about yourself?
In all honesty, I wish I was more motivated. Again, I had been bullied at a younger age, in which made me grow very insecure and caring what people think of my anything I want to do. While I have grown more and more open now, it still hurts me that I can’t talking to anybody without thinking, “What will they think?”
Genie: If you had one wish that would come true and couldn’t be reversed, what would you ask for?
It would be to live infinitely, my age to be halted and my face to be forever youthful. I don’t care if the others around me wither away, I will at least have so much to live for, even if I’m making my own empire.
Fury: What is a word/phrase that you dread to hear?
I’ll just make this answer a Top 5 Most Hated Words / Phrases:
“I don’t care.”
“World War III”
Any sort of screaming.
“Goodbye.”
“Remember that one person who -insert awful memory here-?”
