Tumblr media
Izzy is the reason all these kids are still alive btw just wanted to make sure we all know that
So Izzy is smart. He brings a laptop and cellphone to summer camp and uses big words. But thankfully he does not fall into the trap of 'smart kids' of western media; overly nerdy, completely socially inept, you get the idea. No, Izzy is more than that. His intelligence has a basis in something besides a trope; namely, computer science and engineering.
Tumblr media
(Don't even get me started on Matt being the one to go into engineering when IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IZZY)
From the moment the kids land in the Digital World, Izzy is curious about it. His crest is knowledge but I really think it should've been curiosity. He gets Tentomon to evolve by hacking his code. He comes up with some aliens conspiracy to explain why they're there and why there's things like phone booths on the beach.
Tumblr media
Izzy is the problem solver of the group. In fact, without him, the other kids are just... Kinda lost. Izzy has the answers, and if he doesn't he'll at least know how to find them.
Even though he's younger than the others, being 10 when they're 11, they treat him as an equal. This is opposed to the other kid that's 10, Mimi, who is kind of coddled, and the two youngest, TK and Kari, who are literally the hope and light of the group.
Izzy is basically Tai's second-in-command, deferring to Tai's leadership while Tai takes his input very seriously. However, Izzy isn't much of a leader on his own.
Tumblr media
He gets distracted by details. When Mimi finds him in the temple, he's so busy on his laptop that she gets upset and runs off into a maze. I would attribute this to him being younger, and as he gets older he does get better at applying his intelligence to a leadership role.
Most of the kids have an interesting family dynamic and Izzy is no different. It's revealed that he's adopted, that his birth parents died shortly after he was born and his adoptive parents were friends that took him in.
Tumblr media
What I like about this reveal is that, of course, Izzy found this out on his own due to his curiosity. He overheard his parents discussing whether or not they should tell him, deciding not to because he's too young.
During the Odaiba raid, when the kids have a moment, Izzy gets to finally have the conversation. They admit that he's adopted and tell him what happened, and he says he already knows. He didn't want to bring it up himself because he thought he could just pretend like things were normal, like before he knew. But obviously it couldn't. This shows the price he pays for his curiosity, that sometimes knowing things isn't all fun times and computer jargon. It isn't helpful for Izzy to pretend to not know, to ignore what he knows. Instead it's better for him to apply what he knows to react appropriately, instead of hiding behind the easier mode of willful ignorance.
This also comes into play, though in a different way, during Izzy's confrontation with Vademon. Izzy gives away his curiosity (under extreme duress but still) and is basically empty of all character after that. He does a weird alphabet yoga meditation and willingly gives up his crest and tag, when earlier in the episode his curiosity was at a boiling point over it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This causes Tentomon to de-digivolve to the baby stage; the only other partner Digimon to go back to this stage is Patamon. With the loss of his curiosity, Izzy has lost the core of his being and is no longer able to maintain Tentomon's existence.
Of course, he gets it back and everything is fine afterwords. This episode is very interesting when looking at how things work for the kids and their Digimon, why the crests are important, etc. But that's a post for another time.
Tumblr media
Izzy is incredibly important to the team. Without him, I highly doubt they would've made it very far at all. He's able to look up Digimon on his laptop, kind of like a Digimon version of a Pokedex, when none of the currently present Digimon can give an explanation about who they're up against. But aside from his usefulness as the Smart Kid, it's noteworthy that he uses his intelligence to be helpful instead of lording it over everyone. And he is still a kid, albeit with an impressive vocabulary, so sometimes his curiosity gets him into trouble.

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 - Disc-2
Aww, no more full-color chapters this time around :'( it was fun while it lasted. I wonder why this manga never came out in America? I know Digimon didn't make it as big as Pokemon, but I would think it's big enough, no? Maybe they thought the alternate-world Taichi would be too confusing for kids which...fair.
Ch. 11
-This chapter was pretty creepy. The premise (a village going crazy and everyone killing each other) was already low key creepy pasta worthy, but the way the artist draws Zeromaru in crazy/brainwashed mode was pretty unsettling. Not to oversell it, in the end it's a pretty standard "teammates used against each other" plot.
-Something about an evil Patamon is pretty funny. He's too cute to be evil!
-I don't like Demon's design (didn't like his anime design either). The only part that's kinda cool is the "missing data" on his arm and mid-section.
-Seems kinda messed up that the digivice can make a digimon full instantly. Depriving your friend of the joys of eating :'(
Ch. 12
-Another Digimon World-like reference where Taichi talks about force feeding Zeromaru and not cleaning up his poop. Ah...so glad I never have to play that game again lol.
-Is Taichi wearing loose socks? Very 2000s of him. I miss that fad...
Ch. 13
-Digivice abilities so far: scan enemy digimon, transmit data to partner (commands, food, abilities). Seems pretty OP. I hope they don't over rely on it.
-There's a lot of Engrish in this manga ("deep saver," "wake up combination"). I wonder if the random "cool" English in manga motivates kids to learn at all...
Ch. 14
-This chapter was basically all gags and no tags. Just as useless as the Starmon episode in the anime!
-New digivice ability: it can scan books and then upload that info to your partner's brain. Again...kinda OP. Of course, they nerfed it by making Taichi's doodles cause trouble, so I guess it's fine.
Ch. 15
-Edgy rival guy appears! He kinda looks like a discount Killua. He doesn't appear to be brainwashed like Ken? Who knows though...
-TWO digivices!?
Tumblr media
No but really, what's the point in having two? That's stupid.
-Another OP power added to Taichi's digivice: It can unlock any electronic lock
-So Etemonkey was wholesome all along!? :'( poor guy. Rival dude said his lifespan is like 120 hours!? Geez I didn't know we were going by game logic THAT much.
-Wow, Jogress evolution! I'm glad I'm reading this after Digimon Adventure 02 or else I might be confused by some of the stuff they're throwing at me with zero explanation.
-Rival guy's name is...Neo Saiba. How am I supposed to take that seriously? Makes me think of Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh!
Ch. 16
-Well that got dark pretty quick. Neo sacrifices a Metal Greymon for the sake of collecting data. The fact that the Metal Greymon's only reason for existing was to prove himself to Neo was really sad. RIP.
-So I realize that "Neo Saiba" isn't a first name but a first and last name lol, Idk why I thought otherwise. I guess I'm just so used to hearing digimon with two names at this point.
-Another digivice ability. Apparently you can use it to straight up kill a digimon? (Or "delete," as they worded it). I wonder if it's a real kill or if MetalGreymon gets to turn back into a digi-egg...
Ch. 17
-This chapter got a little violent with Zero bleeding from the nose and mouth and then ripping off Skull Satamon's arms. I bet if you were an 8 year old reading this that would be really intense!
-Apparently anger can give digimon a power boost. I wonder if other emotions have any effect?
-The official release actually ends here for volume 2 which seems weird, but it's because there's a huge chunk of omake materials at the end including C'mon Digimon! I've been reading the scanlations, but I think I'll have to buy the real deal to get that sweet bonus content.

wholesome headcanons (digimon ed. p3)
as requested by @patamon & @sluggybasson107, and i'm also tagging @atsoraasayoma @charliecharls, @bokura-no-digital-world, and @digitalworldbound cos your comments made me smile so much <333
the one who hoards cute/cool notebooks but never uses them?? mimi, hikari, jou (to answer @earlgreymon)
possibly daisuke too, cos he wants to use books to write recipes in but jun either steals them or he loses them (and he's upset abt it every time)
hikari plays animal crossing: new horizons. her favorite game, however, is spiritfarer.
her & taichi share a switch but taichi let hikari decorate it to her heart's content so it's got a pink/white decal with various stickers. taichi doesn't even care if he's teased for it. he actually secretly likes the stickers hikari picked.
takeru doesn't own a switch (yet), so he's got a profile on the yagamis' switch and maybe even a game that's his own that he keeps at the yagami house
mimi adores baking. her favorite thing to bake is cookies, and her favorite kind of cookie is snickerdoodle.
palmon is her totally taste-tester, and she praises mimi's baking skills so much that the other digimon come with her next time to taste-test and suddenly mimi has a bunch of digimon in her apartment and her parents are so confused
she's bribed takeru to write something for her for school by baking him cookies
yamato was very displeased by this cos, hello, this kid needs nutrients??
ken's mom got him a switch lite as a present one year, but daisuke plays it more. ken likes the console, and he does play it, but he's content to just watch daisuke play it with wormmon and chibomon at their sides.
ken's mom adores daisuke. he's like another son, and he's so bright and loud and the complete opposite of ken, which she finds endearing
everyone, absolutely everyone, loves taichi & hikari's mom
this means nobody, absolutely nobody, will tell her that her cooking is awful
insomnia/stays-up-later-than-they-are-supposed-to squad: ken, takeru, jou, koushiro, miyako, and sometimes mimi. they prbly have a private chat where they complain abt lack of sleep and just "give me coffee made with an energy drink instead of water, please" and "are you okay?" and "i got two hours of sleep. no i'm not okay."
takeru & ken bond a lot cos of this private chat (these two = nightmares galore okay, so much hurt/comfort material)
ken really admires and looks up to yamato
okay but koushiro is def autistic, and jou & taichi are the first to figure it out. if others figure it out, it's just, a whole crew of neurodivergent acceptance and they'll beat up anyone who dares to cause a problem
takeru really admires and looks up to koushiro, like he looks up to everyone, esp his nii-san (he loves him the most, after all), but he's bonded with koushiro a lot thru their chat and the gaming shenanigans.
iori has so many dress shirts and shoes. as he grows older i bet he dresses very sophisticated, and miyako fawns over it every time, she thinks it's adorable in the way a kitten is adorable, and iori doesn't like it so she stops cos she respects his boundaries (but continues it in secret).
more takeru & hikari stealing their siblings' sweatshirts. please more. takeru in yamato's knife of day merch?? oversized?? and so many "is that my shirt?" and then cheeky grins and they'll always get away with it.
miyako can get away with stealing her brother's hoodies/shirts, but never her sisters' stuff, and she complains abt this a lot
mimi gives/lends her some clothes and she's like "i'm the Cool Sister™" and now there's mimi-nee, i'm weak for the honorifics and siblingship of these characters okay
i imagine ken is so shy??? like he would hesitate so much to use the characters' first names, it takes a lot of coaxing and reassurance and "it's ok, we're friends!" and even then he's shy, which means ken = bby
taichi cries during almost every studio ghibli movie
yamato also cries during almost every studio ghibli movie
imagine someone gets a cat. could be sora, or ken, or jou. hikari spends more time with them more than she ever has, and it's mostly for the cat.
i was going to write a headcanon for what the chosen would listen to if they were in the car together, depending on who has the aux cord, but i feel like that could have its own post?? what do you guys think??
others: wholesome p1, p2 // sexualities
thank you for all the reblogs, likes, and comments!!! they make me so happy!!! :D requests??

Digimon Adventure: 2020 – Episode 32: Soaring Hope (Review)
Thoughts on the thirty-second episode of the Digimon Adventure reboot series.
Well, what a surprise! This was actually a pretty good episode.
The sound of Patamon running is so cute. And how he just plops over from exhaustion. XD; He actually might be my favourite Digimon in the reboot, lol.
Sora and Taichi came to the rescue in a pretty dynamic way! I loved it. The episode opened so great and got my attention right away. :D
YAMATO!!! I’m so happy to see you. :D Yamato: “I see, so you were able to join them. Were you hurt, Takeru?” Takeru: “I’m fine, but Patamon’s . . .” Agumon: “Patamon looks in pain.” Piyomon: “What’s wrong?” Taichi: “It’s probably the damage from fighting DarkKnightmon.” Yamato: “Takeru. I’m sure Patamon will get well soon. Until then, you stay by Patamon’s side.” Takeru: “Yeah! I will, Big Brother!” Yamato: “Taichi, I leave Takeru to you.” Now, on paper, this exchange seems good . . . but Yamato’s voice actor sounds really “off”? He honestly sounds like he doesn’t care about Takeru, LOL. Which is certainly a change from OG Yamato - who would be losing his damn shit right now. XD; I’m not sure if there’s “more to the story” and Yamato sounds “distracted” (more like disinterested, LOL) for a reason and we’ll find out later? Or this was a weird performance from the voice actor. Or the series really is making Yamato less of an overprotective brother. But it was really odd to me.
LMAO Mimi started a Digimon fight club!? XD; But OG Mimi was such a pacifist. XD;
Jou . . . is still just a joke and the series honestly thinks it’s doing him favours? Sigh. I really don’t like him.
Koushirou tags in to remind us all that he’s still just an info-dump bot. And he’s still going on about a threat that no one (us) cares about. Yawn. This better lead somewhere (to actual on-screen relevance/impact) . . .
LMAO Master Jedi Lopmon astral projects himself into Patamon’s dreams - Oh hello! I didn’t think we’d be seeing you again so soon. I really liked the whole sequence, though. Nicely done.
Why are Taichi and Sora peeking in on Takeru and Patamon? lol. Did they really need privacy here? How respectful of them - except not, because they’re still peeking in. XD;
Takeru and Patamon’s exchange ending with Takeru telling Patamon that he’ll always be by his side was super cute. I loved the story he shared about Yamato helping him swim. This is actually the material we love and need - and not Taichi fighting enemy #7872. Please, Toei, realise this? This is what keeps people engaged and interested in the story and its characters.
Forget the puny Fangmons, Cerberumon is a beast! He looks like a better, cooler, more awesome version of Garurumon! I wouldn’t mind if Yamato had him as his partner Digimon, haha. XD
The series has shown us that Agumon is able to Mega evolve at very little cost - and at pretty short intervals. Why doesn’t he just do so against an Ultimate Digimon? Is a non-Mega not worthy enough for him to Mega evolve against? XD; I know, I know, plot. But this is an issue I have with the series. It doesn’t do a good job at handling Digimon levels and threat levels in general. Everything just comes down to plot convenience in a lazy way. And yes, I’m complaining too much, so I’ll stop. XD;
MY POOR BABY SORA! They always take her out. :( Well, I just remember her frozen leg, lol. But of course she looks like she’s seriously injured, while Taichi also gets hit, falls, but still manages to have enough strength to hang onto the side. Yeah. He’s fucking Superman.
Awww, I really liked Patamon remembering his past and how much Takeru means to him. It was great. The Takeru/Patamon stuff this episode is A+ material.
But Pegasusmon was totally unexpected to me! I had a bit of a “jump the shark” feeling because of how much I didn’t think that could happen. XD; But it’s cool, I liked it. Rodeo Gallop totally should have killed Takeru or at least make him dizzy, though. XD;
Next episode preview: We’re going back to The Taichi Show? -_-; The main focus better be Hikari, though!
I enjoyed this episode a lot more than the last several episodes. It’s amazing how interesting the show is when it’s not just The Taichi Show (centered around a dull, generic, action hero protag). I’ve even accepted Takeru’s heightened courage and I’ve gone back to thinking he’s a cutie and liking him again. :P His bond with Patamon is really endearing. The flying pig is just too cute for words.
I know next episode “looks” like it should mostly be about Hikari, but as Taichi’s involved . . . I am prepared to go back to The Taichi Show again. Sigh. Please hurry up and reunite all the kids again, Toei. My interest can only wane so low.

Pacing in Digimon Adventure
I’ve said it before, but this was a real bugbear of mine with this season.
The main villain of this season, the one whose existence spurs the protagonists into action, who is the cause of everything that happened, is Apocalymon. The fact that Apocalymon exists isn’t made apparent until the end of Episode 52, of a 54-episode long series. We then get one episode to see his power, hear his motivations, and form opinions of him, and then he is defeated a few minutes into the next episode. There is no buildup, no foreshadowing of his situation, or anything - hell, even a mention of the fact that some Digimon don’t survive the Digivolution process before he brings up that he’s where those Digimon go.
Apocalymon’s treatment in this series is pretty bad, but it’s really only a symptom of the pacing issues shown here.
Tumblr media
(click for higher quality!)
Here are all of the villains of the series, excluding all of the ones that only show up for a single episode. I’ve also seperated Demidevimon, Myotismon and Venommyotismon, even though they’re only two characters and both allied - Myotismon wasn’t really shown until Episode 26, so I counted up until then as being Demidevimon’s reign. I also didn’t make a seperate row for Metaletemon because I figured it was easy enough to distinguish between him being Etemon and Metaletemon, unlike Venommyotismon who appeared immediately after being killed as Myotismon.
So, it’s an interesting way to look at the series. Myotismon got the same amount of episodes for an arc as the Dark Masters all did put together, and if we count Demidevimon’s arc as part of Myotismon’s reign, he got 17 episodes to cause problems in, whereas the Dark Masters only got 13. The four of them were built up as being super powerful superbeings of evil, and yet only took a couple of episodes each to be killed. Metalseadramon’s small overlap with Puppetmon was only because of the dub, too - his death was moved to the beginning of the next episode.
So, we have this incredibly badass introduction for the Dark Masters, where they display their competence and power in a beautiful way, the Digidestined are all terrified and feeling powerless, and then it only takes a couple of episodes for the first one to be killed. I remember thinking at the time that Puppetmon’s arc felt longer than Metalseadramon’s did as well, and obviously it was, being the longest of the four. And let’s not forget that all four of them were defeated, for the most part, by a single Digimon’s attack - Metalseadramon might have been ganged up on, but he only died when Wargreymon got at his insides. Puppetmon was taken out by Metalgarurumon on his own, Machinedramon by Wargreymon in a single strike, and Piedmon by Magnaangemon’s Instant Win Button. Given that the Digidestined all split up during this time, in which five powerful antagonists were killed, it really puts Venommyotismon’s defeat into contrast, where it took a group effort from the crests being Magical and the rest of the Digimon setting up a cool combo attack with that ball building. Hell, there was a whole-ass prophecy about what it would take to defeat Venommyotismon!
Myotismon’s Final Form took just as much screentime as the entire Big Bad did. Etemon’s big return took the same amount of screentime as Apocalymon. That one Kuwagamon appears about the same amount of time, and I didn’t even bother to give the damn thing a row on the table.
Buuuut the show is more than just its villains. Let’s measure the episodes in a different way!
Tumblr media
(again, click for higher quality!)
Here’s each initial Digivolution by episode! Obviously, that first arc was all about them reaching their Champion form before fighting Devimon, so they’re all clustered together. Gatomon’s row is blacked out until her first appearance, not when she joined the group. I’ve also put Patamon’s form changes from when he died and came back on there, as well as when each kid found their crest during the Etemon arc.
(TOKOMON SPENT MORE TIME IN THE IN-TRAINING FORM THAN APOCALYMON SPENT ON-SCREEN AT ALL)
This kinda shows my issue with the tags and crests well - I complained at the time that it felt like they were just tripping over the crests accidentally as they wandered randomly around and waited for Plot to Happen, as though the writers just did what they wanted anyway and threw darts to see who got their crests in any given episode. The only ones that mattered were Sora’s being in Datamon’s possession (somehow???) and Tai having his before the whole Skullgreymon thing. (I just realised that I probably should have put Skullgreymon’s Digivolution on the chart, huh. Whoops! It’s episode 16, the same one where Joe got his crest, immediately after Tai got his.)
Also, look at that one Ultimate Digivolution right at the end. That’s hilarious. Poor Patamon.
Anyway! There were 17 Digivolutions Champion and above. If we decided that they all got their own episode to shine in, and added in the first episode’s mass Rookie Digivolution and Patamon’s big comeback against Demidevimon, that’s 19 episode-climax-worthy Digivolutions. (In practice, it was 18, because both Metalgarurumon and Wargreymon were in the same episode.) Sooo would it really have killed them to give the other six Digimon Mega forms? Was there just too much going on at once with the Dark Master arc that they couldn’t do that? (The answer is yes, there was far too much going on then.) So, okay, maybe there wasn’t a Dark Master for each of the last six Digivolutions, and we had one Ultimate show up then, anyway, so it wasn’t entirely missing exciting new forms to look at. Still, it’s hard not to feel like those last few got shafted a bit.
Let’s not even mention Gatomon who only got that Shiny New Form Moment once in the series. This becomes hilarious next season, and I can’t wait to get to talk about that, because it cracks me up every time.

Never Too Late For A Leap Of Faith
Part 2
Part 1 here
Five times Taichi only feels the presence of Digimons and one time he actually meets them (again).
Words: 1401 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Tags: 5+1 Pairings: Taichi Yagami/OC, Sorato, Jyoumi
Inspired by this youtube video talking about how the end of Kizuna fits into the narrative of the Epilogue in 02, posted by TheDigiKnow. It’s in my opinion a thorough and yet personal analysis.
The last time Taichi had been this nervous was before his final exam in his studies. He stood before a sleek black door on one of the highest floors in a governmental skyscraper in Tokyo’s heart, Roppongi. Behind the door sat a panel of the Japanese government, wanting to hear his expertise. He wondered if Koushirou was already in there. After another deep breath, telling himself to just screw it, it wouldn’t be any better if he stood here for another minute or two, he knocked.
“Ah, Yagami-shi.” The prime minister bowed to him, as did everyone else, when he entered.
Taichi did his best to compose himself and not get all flustered by the honour of the prime minister knowing his name.
“Hello Taichi-san”, someone said at the other end of the table and Taichi noticed to his relief that it was Koushirou already standing beside a holographic screen.
Taichi bowed to everyone around, then proceeded towards Koushirou. He put his briefcase onto a desk and extracted his notes. He looked at them but then he realized he wouldn’t need them. Nodding to Koushirou, he said, after a few welcoming words “The public has known Digimons mostly as, at best, a nuisance and at worst as a life-threatening force. But we know that Digimons also have a different side. They are caring, loving, and loyal companions who want nothing but the best for humans.
Notice how I said ‘who’? Rationally looked upon, they might be only comprised of data, just like a music or a text file. But they are much more. Imagine the agony you might feel when a CD with your favourite song breaks or a very important text file gets deleted. Now exponentiate that to the grief you feel when losing a loved one, maybe even finitely. This is how we felt when we had to let our Digimon partners go all those years ago because the nature of human-Digimon bond was a doomed one, it was only temporary. Something we lose when we grow up because Digimons make the most sense when you are a child.
And as an adult, you lose sight of what is important in life. You think you have cracked the meaning of life, working hard and getting married – and while I don’t want to disparage marriage or family, not at all – we treat it like it’s some kind of competition. That way, though, carefreeness, our sense of fun, and the lightness of just being and living get lost. But when you have children of your own, you start seeing the world again through the eyes of a child, and slowly that lightness returns.
To make a long story short, we as humans are better off having a good connection to Digimons instead of condemning them as monsters. They preserve our childlike side and add to our social value. This is not about being chosen for a great task, like Izumi-kun and I had been, but about living peacefully together with a species that is much like us humans: Every Digimon is an individual with a fully-rounded personality.
We are here to propose diplomatic relations to the Digital World with the long-term plan of finding a Digimon partner for every human, if they wish to have one. Izumi-kun will now introduce you to his network of DigiDestined that he’s been running for nearly fifteen years now and that shows that not only peaceful connections between humans and Digimons are possible, but also between humans themselves.”
If Taichi had thought the anxiousness he had while standing in front of that office door had been bad, well, he’d blatantly been wrong. He had to suppress the urge to vomit while he watched Koushirou typing furiously on a holographic keyboard. It didn’t make any sense to him, though. As long as he knew Koushirou, there had been the steady rhythm of his fingers flying over the keys, a soft hammering, the sound of knowledge and curiosity. But now it was only silence, as if someone had muted reality.
With a final enthusiastic hit, a picture appeared on the floating screen floating that was painfully familiar. A crystal blue lake, nearly perfectly circular, glittered in the sunshine, surrounded by a dense wood. In the middle of the lake was an island with the most peculiar yet reassuring sight around: a gleaming tram wagon, empty but for a few odd creatures looking like they’d been sitting there for eternity.
Taichi looked down when he felt someone take his hand.
“Let’s go together”, Koushirou said smilingly.
On the other side, he felt another person’s presence. Yamato hadn’t taken his hand but his upper arm was brushing Taichi’s. Taichi inhaled deeply, then nodded. It was time.
***
   “Taichi-san?”, a hardly-surprised, childish voice asked.
Taichi took a deep breath but he didn’t turn yet. It was too good to be true, it was what he had dreamt of since their disappearance after the Eosmon incident but he was wiser as to put too much hope into this voice. After all, it could be a hallucination his wishful mind had made him think.
“Taichi-san, do you not want to say hello to me?”, the voice asked again. Someone tugged at his hand.
Finally he looked down. A tug at the hand could hardly be imaginary, could it?   Many teeth greeted him, then the mouth closed and he looked into Agumon’s blinking blue eyes. “Taichi-san, you’ve finally come back to me!”, Agumon exclaimed and held out his arms.
Taichi laughed while he cried, crouching down before his Digimon partner. “Yeah, it took me a while, a lot of things have happened.” He embraced Agumon. “Are the others with you? Because we’ve all been waiting so long. Biyomon and Gomamon and Palmon and Gabumon and Tentomon and Patamon and Gatomon. They’re all here.” Agumon stepped away and made a sweeping gesture. The Digimons came forward, their gazes flickering between Taichi and the group of people standing a little distance behind him.
“Yes, we’ve all come back. And we want you to meet some special persons.” Taichi wiped away the tears with the back of his hand, then got up and beckoned the rest towards him with a wave.
“Oh, Sora-san”, Biyomon exclaimed and excitedly fluttered forward, straight into Sora’s arms.
Yamato and Gabumon looked at each other amicably; they’ve never been much for words but understood each other perfectly nonetheless.
“Jou-senpai, I hope you’ve been eating well and not studying too hard while I was away”, Gomamon greeted his partner after he’d waddled over towards him.
“Kouhirou-han, still carrying your tablet with you? I’m glad you haven’t changed a bit.” Tentomon buzzed excitedly around Koushirou’s head.
Mimi and Palmon were running towards each other, screaming with joy, but actual words were not decipherable.
“Takeru-kun, Takeru-kun, why haven’t you come earlier? I was so bored without!” Patamon flapped towards Takeru, then settled comfortably onto his head after Takeru had taken off his sailor’s cap.
A solemn but smiling Gatomon stood before Hikari, paw extended. “I’ve been keeping this”, he said.
Hikari took the whistle gently, a flood of memories rushing through her mind, then she blew it mightily.
As if they had agreed on that as a sign, the remaining people shuffled forward, most were visibly nervous.
“Kana-chan! Oh, Kana-chan, it’s been so long!” somebody suddenly yelled from the edge of the forest. A red birdlike Digimon, with a green beak and yellow coat pattern on his belly, waddled as fast as he could towards Taichi’s wife who’d been leading Hotaro to the Digimons.
Now she dropped to her knees, crying “Oh Muchomon” in delight and embracing her Digimon once he had reached her.
The remaining spouses, who had not been DigiDestineds, watched a little warily. They had heard the stories, hair-raising at times and most certainly not what children should have to endure, so they were familiar with the concept of Digimons. But meeting them now in the wild, so to speak, in their natural habitat, was something they still had to get accustomed to.
Until Gatomon turned to Hikari’s daughter and introduced himself. Then he added “We welcome you to the Digital World, hoping that you will find a home here just like it is ours.”
Meaning the same, but phrasing it differently, Agumon exclaimed “I’m hungry, let’s have a picnic!”
Which earned him laughter from everyone. The ice was broken.

Odaiba Day 2020
What better way to celebrate than getting to know everyone in the fandom? :D
Special thanks to @earlgreymon for making these amazing templates for the special day!
Scroll or click for my responses! (more Tumblr mentions at the bottom of the post!)
Tumblr media
Note: The last two responses are based off of ne as a 10-year-old girl. I didn’t know how to dress but I always thought it was cool to be part of a group. xD
Tumblr media
I will admit I’m too self-conscious to post a pic of myself, and I have yet to be skilled to try my hand at a self-portrait... so here’s the character from One Piece that I am most like (especially when I get a compliment). ;)
Favorite Digimon
Tumblr media
I’m not familiar with the ‘final box’ evolutions, but as you can see, filling this out made me realize that I really like Veemon’s evolution lines, outside of the obvious Biyomon/Piyomon one xD
DigiGirls
Tumblr media
I almost thought I was going to be more like Hikari, but lo and behold. I don’t think it’s obvious enough who my favorite DigiGirl is. <3
Now, I know you want to see where my shipper heart lies:
Tumblr media
XD
But seriously, here’s the more complete one:
Tumblr media
Mind you, I’ve been doing this off of Paint so thank you for bearing with the quality of these. This is my train wreck on ships (I’m shipwrecked) but this should tell you that I am a multishipper. The colors simply portray my leanings (for example, romantic over friendship) but I have nothing against the other choices!
I also realized that there was a template including the 02 kids by the time I scribbled all the way through this one. For that, I can tell you DaiKari, DaiYako and KenYako!! are my romantic preferences. :)

Takari Week, Day 7- Healing, Taking Care Of
Takeru can’t stand to see a sick Hikari sleeping on the cold hard floor, set between episodes 48 and 49 of 01, done as part of @takariweek.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gen for putting this all together.
Takeru had never seen a fan so big before.  Many fans were bigger than him, but this one had to be about ten times as big as he was.
It wasn’t the weirdest part of this underground tunnel they landed in, but the rays coming in-between the blades were the only source of light they had to see by.  In that weak light, he saw Hikari, lying on the cold ground, clothes still wet with sweat.
And it scared him.
He’d seen more monsters and baddies than he could count over the past few months, beat ghouls that made even adults run away scared. But somehow seeing his friend, weak and heaving on the floor, scared him more than anything else.
He’d rather fight Devimon again than see her go through this.
Maybe not Mungendramon.  They hadn’t lasted five seconds before that metal dragon had destroyed the floor, sending them plummeting to wherever this was.
“Takeru, are you okay?” Sora asked.  A tremor ran though his body as he looked up at her.
“I’m fine.  No, I’m good.” He said, pushing a smile.
“Of course you are.” She returned. “Taichi and the others weren’t too far away when we fell, they might be nearby.  We should head out and look for them.”
He nodded, even before thinking about it.  Finding Taichi would be good, Hikari would want to see her brother when she woke up. “Are you going to carry Hikari again?” he asked.
“No, we’ll let her rest.” Sora replied “Tailmon will stay here and look after her, and when we find the others, we can use this place as a base.”
That made sense, it was hard for Hikari to sleep when she had to hold on to Sora.  He looked back at the sleeping girl again.  It couldn’t be a good sleep on the cold hard ground, he knew that from experience, but even after looking they hadn’t found any benches or anything soft to help.
An idea struck him, as he began to walk away. “Wait!” He told the older girl, suddenly running back to Hikari.  When he reached his friend, he started to move slower, more carefully, he didn’t want to disturb her.  He slowly removed his backpack, softly setting it down, then he raised Hikari’s head ever so slightly, sliding his backpack underneath.
There, now she would have a pillow, that had to be better than the cold hard floor.
He began walking back towards Sora, stealing a look at Hiakri whenever he thought he could get away with it.
“Takeru.” Sora said softly, “Would you like to stay with Tailmon?  I’m sure she could use the company, and Biyomon and I will be able to handle any foes we find on our own.”
It was true that Garudamon could beat stronger enemies than Angemon could, although that didn’t make Takeru feel any better.  Despite the hit to his pride, he nodded “Taichi did tell me to protect her.”
“He did,” Sora agreed with a smile.
Patamon flew back towards him but Takeru waved him away. “Go with Sora, help her find them with those big ears of yours.”
His partner looked like he might start a fight for a second, but then didn’t. Instead flying to join Sora again, “We’ll be back before you know it, just stay right there.”
They weren’t.
Maybe it was just because he wanted them to be fast, like on days when Dad was picking him up after school and he swore the teachers made the clocks run twice as slow as usual.  Every second spent watching over Hikari’s weak body stretched on for years.
The girl shuddered, one hand moving from her side to rest across her chest in her sleep.
“She’s cold.” Takeru said, louder than he should have. He stood up, walking around the edges of the room.
“We don’t have a blanket.” Tailmon reminded him, “Unless you remembered to pack one in your backpack before we left that house.”
He didn’t.  He should have, Hikari was clearly still sick, but they needed to leave quickly and were expecting Taichi to come back with the medicine.  And Taichi never failed before, so there was no need to worry about Hikari still being sick later.
But even without a blanket, he couldn’t just look at Hikari lying there cold.  There had to be something he could do, something he could use to help her.
The wind began to blow against his face, moving in weird patterns with the slow movement of the fan.  Takeru chased the wind headfirst, turning a corner to find a pile of dry leaves, lazily blown there over time.
He gave a slight pause, were their spiders in the digital world?  Like not giant spiders that could eat him in a single gulp, he knew those spiders existed, but normal ones?  He couldn’t remember Yamato or Sora ever needing to check for spiders when they used leaves for blankets before.
He scooped the leaves up in a big hug and raced off to where Hikari and Tailmon were waiting.  “Lookit what I found.” He said, not caring as half the pile escaped from his lose grip.
“Leaves?” Tailmon asked, “But, where did you?”
“There was a wind, I just followed where it blew and there was a pile of them, we’ll have more than enough for a blanket.” He said.
“I suppose it’s better than nothing.” Tailmon said. Takeru wasn’t sure why she didn’t sound too happy about it, he used leaves and branches as blankets all the time.
Tailmon took the leaves from him and began gently padding them around Hikari.  Takeru took off as soon as he could to grab a second scoop, Tailmon was already waiting for him by the time he returned, so he resolved to make the third, fourth and fifth trips faster.
A few times after he stopped counting his trips Tailmon told him to stop, informing him they had ‘more than enough leaves’, and Takeru went back to his place beside the girl.
“There,” he declared softly. “Now she has a real bed.”
The Digimon’s tail twitched.  “This hardly compares to her bed at home, or even the one in that old house.  If that didn’t help, I don’t see why this one will.”
Tailmon turned to him directly. “And that was a very reckless thing you did, what if you’d gone too far away while looking for these?  What if you’d found an enemy?  I would have been forced to choose between protecting you or protecting Hikari.”
Takeru felt his joy vanish at the feline’s words. However, there was one small part of him that would not give in.  “But I had to do something.  And you said yourself, this is better than nothing.  I couldn’t just let Hikari sleep without a bed.  And even if there’s only a small chance this will help her, I couldn’t just not take it, right?”
Tailmon looked like she might quiet-yell at him again, but she was stopped before she could.  Takeru’s crest was beginning to glow faintly, but in the weak light of the room it stood out like the moon amongst the stars.   He reached into his shirt and pulled the tag out, staring at it in awe.
“Where’s Angemon?” Tailmon asked “What’s going on?”
Takeru wanted to aske her the same question, but before he could, a beam of light shot out from his crest, covering Hikari in a yellow glow like a blanket of light.  The light that surrounded Hikari turned from yellow to pink, before softly growing weak and disappearing.
When the light show was done, Takeru fell back against the floor.  He felt like he ran from his house to school and back again.
“Takeru?” Tailmon asked, standing over him, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” He replied “Just give me five more minutes.”
“If you insist.”  The Digimon said, turning back to Hikari. “Huh.”
“What?” Takeru asked, still looking at the roof.
“It’s just, Hikari looks a lot more, peaceful than she did before.”
Takeru rolled onto his side, using what strength he had to look at the girl.  She did look peaceful, and so calm as she slept, not like the tossing and turning she had before he found the leaves.  For some reason, he couldn’t bear to look away.

FEATURE: Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Lone Wolf? Analyzing Digimon's Matt
Toei Animation’s 2020 re-imagining of Digimon Adventure has not only brought back familiar faces, but also a whole new take on beloved characters. First airing in 1999, Digimon Adventure was created as an adaptation of the then-new Bandai Tamagotchi spin-off virtual pet franchise, Digimon. Since its original broadcast run from 1999 to 2000, the series has spawned various sequel series, movies, and OVAs, including the recent Digimon Adventure Tri. For the newly initiated, this soft reboot of Digimon Adventure is the perfect point of entry for those who never saw the original.
If you have a favorite DigiDestined, however, get ready for some changes. Of the chosen children, one is notably different: everyone’s favorite brooding embodiment of friendship, Matt.
    A Lone Wolf After All?
Matt appears in front of Tai in the Digital World
For Digimon veterans, the first few episodes of Digimon Adventure: (2020) start on a very different note compared to the 1999 original. By the first episode, Tai and Matt encounter each other in the Digital World. Except — Matt is already there by the time Tai arrives. Together they join forces and form Omnimon, a powerful Digimon created from the fusion of their partners Agumon and Gabumon. Does any of this ring a bell? This Digivolution first occurred in Mamoru Hosoda's 2000 Our War Game OVA, which chronologically takes place after the events of the 1999 anime. Ironically, the second episode titled “War Game” borrows the same premise of stopping a missile from landing in Tokyo. Rather than symbolizing the power of Tai and Matt's friendship after a long journey, this new version of Digimon Adventure presents Omnimon as proof of an untested alliance. Instead of starting from the beginning, it’s almost as though we’re starting from the end.
But this still begs the question — why is Matt already in the Digital World? Cool kid points?
Matt and Tai stand on Omnimon's shoulders
Compared to Tai and friends, this new version of Matt is an early bird. In fact, he's already shown riding Garurumon, Gabumon’s champion evolution. This suggests Matt might already have an established bond with Gabumon. This first impression of Matt — originally brushed off as a stereotypical “lone wolf” — offers us a fresh new take on what he has to offer.
In classic Digimon Adventure, Matt is first depicted hanging out alone, dubbed a "lone wolf" by Tai. As a self-appointed guardian for his little brother T.K., Matt is cautious but still impulsive, constantly butting heads with Tai. After being transported into the Digital World with the other kids, Matt slowly begins opening up to the others. He reveals to Tai that his parents were divorced and that protecting T.K. has become a huge part of his identity. But being so wrapped up in watching out for his brother, Matt takes it personally when T.K. starts growing into his own. What’s a lonely boy with a harmonica to do except moodily ride his wolf into nothingness?
Of all the kids, Matt is the first to break away from the group by choice in search of some soul-searching. After acquiring the Crest of Friendship — tags the Digidestined obtain to further their Digimon’s potential — Matt seriously begins questioning whether or not he has “grown.” A brief stint back in the real world before returning to the Digimon World to finish off the Dark Masters makes Matt realize that his family probably isn’t getting back together, whether he accepts it or not. After being confronted by Cherrymon, a Digimon scheming to turn the DigiDestined against each other, Matt is encouraged to cut out his supposed enemies — namely Tai — and forge his own path.
Matt doubts if T.K. really needs him anymore Image via Hulu
Despite the irony of having the Crest of Friendship, Matt chooses to temporarily break away from the others, admitting that T.K. can take care of himself and beginning the process of sorting through his angst. Sure, he cries a little when Tai punches him in the face, but what does that have to do with getting over your crippling self-doubt and anxiety? Self-reflection is uncool and overrated, right? Right? OK, maybe not.
If this version of Matt taught us anything, it’s that trying to play tough all the time doesn’t help. In fact, it might end up backfiring in the end.
  Friendship Dilemma
As it turns out, Matt isn’t exactly a “lone wolf” after all.
Let’s dig a little. The Crest of Friendship doesn’t symbolize what Matt already has, but something he needs to actively work toward. Inevitably, Matt will have to return to the real world after his Digital World adventure. If Tai is brazenly courageous and Izzy is obviously hungry for knowledge, can we necessarily say Matt starts off as a social butterfly? Not exactly.
Matt watches T.K. reunite with his mom after returning from the Digital World Image via Hulu
Matt accepts he can’t change his family. Having time alone forces him to realize he needs to look inside in order to not only survive the Digital World, but to cope outside of it as well. Because, despite how cool your giant blue wolf looks, it doesn’t fix a complicated, real-life family dynamic. This tension ultimately reaches a fever pitch when Matt, more depressed than ever after splitting from the group, loses himself inside a strange cave. Here, Matt confesses he’s pushed people away because, if his family didn’t want him, then why bother opening up to anyone ever again? Can anyone truly love a brooding, seemingly antisocial teenager with boyband hair?
"Let's make a promise that we'll always be there for each other, no matter what happens. Gabumon and Matt, friends for life." Image via Hulu
Yes, of course. And not only that. In this memorable scene, Gabumon admits it’s okay to cry. If Matt can’t cry in the real world of divorce and being separated from his brother, he can at least cry here, in this allegorical cave. After expelling all his personal demons, Matt learns an important lesson: It’s okay to open up to people and actually show emotion. In a 2006 conversation with fans on the Digimon fansite With the Will, voice actor and scriptwriter Jim Nimoy commented if given the chance to rewrite one Digimon Adventure character, he “would make Matt less of an indecisive guy.” In hindsight, this breaks open Matt’s entire character arc. His main trait isn’t the “lone wolf” but something far more complicated — someone troubled by his own self-doubt.
  Breaking the Fortress of Solitude
The Crest of Friendship appears in Matt's Digivice as he rescues the others
In the latest 2020 iteration of Digimon Adventure, Matt helps Tai and company siege an attack on Gorillamon in the eighth episode “The Children's Attack on the Fortress.” Having arrived before everyone else, Matt is seemingly less unfazed by the severe amount of violence aimed at them. Admittedly, it seems like this version of the Digital World is even more hostile, which makes Matt’s stoic demeanor all the more impressive. Despite the fact that Digimon now apparently have access to military-grade weapons, Matt doesn’t concede to Tai’s help until he finally sees the others can hold their ground. For what it's worth, this is what proves them in his eyes — that they can carry their own weight. They aren’t, as Nimoy had pointed out, indecisive.
The Crest of Friendship briefly appears on Matt’s Digivice, he kicks Gorillamon’s butt, and finally decides Tai and his pals aren’t so bad after all. This version of Matt has, so far, had his entire original arc turned inside-out. Rather than beginning in a group, Matt stakes it out alone, and in a pivotal moment, realizes the powerful potential of friendship. For better or worse, this new Digimon Adventure has already done the legwork of admitting Matt’s more than a two-dimensional “lone wolf.” Having essentially addressed an arc that previously took at least 50 episodes to reach by Episode 8, it seems as though Matt may serve a very different role than before.
Matt and Gabumon make new friends
While this doesn’t exactly answer the specifics of why he’s already in the Digital World, it does tell us this: If even Matt can have a change of heart so soon, there’s no telling what else is in store for the others. The kids will certainly have an unprecedented set of challenges awaiting them. With everyone rounded up together now (sans a certain pair of younger siblings), this is just the beginning of a new twist on the status quo. Maybe Matt's truly a social butterfly in wolf’s clothing after all? It's a brave, all new Digital World out there.

Another Dutch Comic Con weekend, the Winter edition. I went as Ladybug on Saturday and as Mimi on Sunday.
Adding links etc later!
It was a bit of a sad weekend for me for reasons I prefer not to talk about because it’ll just make me more sad, but despite the events I still had fun and I don’t think I had my friends notice much I wasn’t feeling too good. I am still glad I went and cosplayed despite my mood. I will highlight the happier things!
Day one!
On Saturday I went with my two best friends which is obviously a treat. We wandered a lot at the con shopping and I actually saw a different Miraculous holder other than the usual Chat Noir and Ladybug!
Tumblr media
The lighting wasn’t great, but I was happy to see her and we had a little chat. She liked my custom Ladybug look which was very nice, I explained that Ladybug is always someone else over time and they wear different outfits, so it’s not that odd for me to simply be another Ladybug of another era.
She was actually the only one I made a photo with, all the other Ladybug, Chat Noir, Adrien and Marinette.. they were all cosplayers I took photos with before. On Sunday I did see different cosplayers, even someone dressed as Luka, but I wasn’t wearing my Ladybug outfit then. Bummer!
I did get a fair bit of merchandise from the artist alley. Once again... okay, listen. Jonny Cruz, voice actor of Lucio from Overwatch, was visiting Comic Con. My hopes were high: there used to be a lot of Overwatch merchanise, but they rarely sell Lucio. They MUST have got Lucio now, right? Nope. Only new Lucio merchandise I found was a charm. I was a little sad about that, because I know he’s not exactly unpopular. I do very much like the charm though! Merchandise below, Lucio charm is the one bottom left.
Tumblr media
When you flip him over he wears the yellow outfit instead of green.
I also have my millionth Patamon plushie. I was happy to see Digimon merchandise in the first place, but it’s always either Patamon or Agumon. I love Patamon anyway, so I bought it. The fox plushie... was pure impulse. He is extremely soft and foxes are by far my favourite animal. His name tag says his name is Fred, I wanted to name him myself, but I love Fred as well.
Those buttons are actually commissions of my Dungeons & Dragons hobbits halflings!
Tumblr media
So button commissions are apparently a thing! And I also made another commission that I’d pick up the next day. These two ladies together were only 14 euros. If you want to know more about my girls just ask me. They are actually family, not siblings though.
Other than that I found an artist that sold Digimon stickers. She only had a couple, so naturally I bought every single one of them.
Tumblr media
If you wonder why some look similar, they are appparently old and new versions. I absolutely love, LOVE how the bottom Agumon turned out. Look at that fireball. Amazing.
That already sums up Saturday, it was mostly shopping. I saw a Fire Emblem cosplay I really wanted to take a photo with, but after seeing her once, I never found her again. She was dressed as Elise, my favourite female character.
Onto;
Day two!
This day I only went with one of my two best friends. We went a little later than the day before, which is common when a whole weekend is visited. I went as Mimi from Digimon because I knew a Rosemon cosplay would be there, but I never found her. Since she was the sole reason I went as Mimi of course this was a bit of a letdown, especially after seeing all the Miraculous cosplay gathered together. I even saw a few cosplayers I hadn’t seen before. Maybe next time! I did make a photo of myself which I don’t usually do.
Tumblr media
It’s not my best pic, but let’s be real, I was walking while I took it and still had my bag on and wasn’t in the best mood. Because it was the only photo I took, I decided to upload it. The mother of the lass who did my commission below actually thought I was wearing a wig cause when I explained I looked different yesterday she referred to probably having had a different haircut too. Not sure if that means my hair looks fake, hah.
The commission was my goblin from World of Warcraft and I honestly think this is the best part piece I’ve gotten of her yet, and that while it was a Comic Con commission! (I say this because commissions at an event are less flexible, you cannot discuss design choices well)
Tumblr media
Does she not look absolutely amazing? She was worth being my most expensive button, and even then I’d say it could’ve been worth more (but I would’ve less likely been able to afford it). Let me show you what else I got on the Sunday.
It’s mostly small stuff:
Tumblr media
On the left is a sticker my friend bought me without me noticing it, not really at least. It refers to the Dungeons & Dragons bard and it suits me as in D&D version 3.5 a bard does not get damaging spells until a high level, so I always feel like all I can do is inspire my allies. Inspiring allies is strong, but it feels silly to say every turn “yeah I’m still singing.”
The two dice are d3 dice, meaning they count from 1 to 3. They are often not included in dice sets, and with often I mean always. Some skills do use them though.
The button below my goblin is a commission of my hobbit in Lord of the Rings Online. I found said artist quite late sadly since she had the most affordable ones. I had a hard time explaining what exactly I wanted, so I told her I just wanted her to be smiling.
The last button is of Miraculous Ladybug. Not a commission, just one I found. I liked it cause of the akuma (the butterfly) floating there and her hands being like that. I don’t know. I just liked it.
Other than that my friend and I mostly just finished what she had not seen yet (she left early) and then rested mostly. We visited the Q&A of Jonny Cruz (Lucio from Overwatch) and Boris Hiestand (Sigma from Overwatch). As a Lucio main I was mostly there for Jonny, but it was a fun Q&A altogether. What was also fun was what came after the Q&A: they would play the game against each others and fans from the audience would have to carry them.
Jonny lost all three matches, but I am confident that’s because I think the poor lad does not realise he can heal... erm, let me explain. Lucio has two modes: heal mode and speed mode. Speed mode is actually not used much in combat. What did Jonny do? He left speed mode on fulltime, leaving his team with only one healer instead of two. I lowkey wished I was on stage to tell him he needs to hit Shift to heal, but I purposefully did not participate because I am a below decent player. At least now I know I at least play Lucio better than Lucio himself, haha. Boris was actually quite alright as his character, Sigma!
Some images I took.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a shame I kind-of forgot the contents of the Q&A other than them saying each other’s voice lines in their own character’s voice, them trying to imitate the cowboy character (I always forget his name, needless to say I never play him), Boris actually killed it at that, Jonny not so much, haha. They also got Jonny to say “boop” and of course “can’t stop won’t stop” (which he referred to as his favourite quote at the time) and Boris of course talked about stroopwafels being lekker. He also said he wasn’t overly fond of a fan-favourite quote of Sigma because it opposes his own point of view, but he does understand where the liking comes from.
I also tried to take a photo during the match, but didn’t realise how silly I was holding my phone.
Tumblr media
Both Jonny and Boris had some serious game faces on.
After the event my friend and I went to the Dunkin’ Donuts since we don’t have one in our town, grabbed a batch and left for the train.
All-in-all I had a good event despite events that aren’t mentioned. I really hope to see Rosemon next time though, I really was on the lookout for her. I actually just remembered I saw a group of Once Upon A Time cosplayers as well that I wanted to take a photo with... dang.

There, now you know all my stages, here's my little story.
Well, you know how Gatomon's DigiEgg was separated from the other seven? That's what happened to mine. Gennai dropped me! How mean!
Chase:-Sully
Sully:- Sorry. Anyhow. I hatched into Echomon, and then to Loksomon. Being young and naieve, I wandered the Digital World alone, looking for someone, anyone to take me in and care for me. The problem was, when I said anyone, I meant it, literally! I wanted friends so much, I decided to make friends with all the wrong Digimon, including one of the Dark Masters friends, Firleomon. He was a mean Digimon who used his attack, Shining Skulls to entrap Digimon in their worst nightmares, making them relive them for the rest of their lives, it usually made them data after the first two minutes. Anyhoo, he trained me to be stealthy, quiet, to here every little thing with my ears, and the thing that almost made me kill Chase, he almost destroyed the feelings that I needed the most, compassion, love, truth and honesty. I only managed to hold onto them thanks to my friend, Incamon, a champion Digimon and a loyal friend.
One day, when Myotismon had gone to Earth along with a lot of his goons, including Firleomon, he told me to go stake out a tall tower building, where the ninth DigiDestined supposedly lived. As I was leaving, Incamon called me over and put a tag and crest around my neck. I asked her what was going on and she told me about what happened during my time as one of Firleomon's rubes. And that the tag and crest would glow when the DigiDestined was near. When it did I was not to hurt them, becuase....Incamon never finished the sentance because Firleomon fired his Shining Skulls attack and destroyed her. He was about to get me too, but I ran.
I travelled through this whole building and the crest and tag didn't glow once, until I got to the very top floor, out of breath and tired. There was a girl sitting on a door step examining something, the crest started to glow. I saw what she was examining was a DigiVice, something that held the power to helping Digimon DigiVolve. I walked over to her causiously, but, she spotted me, and was pretty much scared by what I looked like, but I was more scared of her, so I ran and hid behind a door. She walked over to me, and saw the crest and tag. She took it off my neck and looked at it. She seemed not to be too afraid of me now, she knew I could speak, cause a friend of hers, Matt Ishida, had a crest and DigiVice too. I told her what it was and that she was a DigiDestined and I was her Digimon.
Matt soon came over and Gabumon attacked me, I thought he was attacking Chase, and attacked him, proving I was her Digimon. Me and Chase teamed together and helped the other DigiDestined, Tai and Agumon, Matt and Gabumon, Sora and Biyomon, Mimi and Palmon, Izzy and Tentomon, Joe and Gomamon, TK and Patamon and Tai's baby sister Kari and Gatomon. We all defeated Myostismon, only needing to DigiVolve to the champion and Ultimate levels. But, somehow, even thoigh we'd just met, mine and Chase's bond was so strong, that when Gabumon and Agumon warp-DigiVolved to their Mega forms of MetalGarurumon and War Greymon, I warp-DigiVolved too, to HolyBoltramon! Prodigous! (As Izzy would say!) The three of us destroyed VenomMysotismon, Myotsimon's Mega and the nine of us went back to the Digital World, to sort out the four Dark Masters.
So that's my story of how I met Chase and helped the origanal DigiDestined team as well as the fact we're part of the new team too! Really cool! Look out for Chase's story type thing. Of course it's not going to be as good as mine! ^_^
Chase:- Sully!
Sully:- Sorry.....^_~”

Adventure Episode 14
Matt: Are you a friend of Devimon’s?
Gennai: Fear not, for I am a friend to all yet a friend to none.
Sora: I can’t believe there’s actually other humans in this world.
Gennai: I am human, yet I am not human.
Mimi: This is confusing.
The start of this episode is confusing, yet it is not confusing.
Gennai is basically just aimlessly cryptic and full of no answers. He wants something though: Them to come to the main continent of Server and fight the villains that are there. He offers some hints as to how to digivolve further (Get a tag and crest, crests are hidden all over Server and Devimon took and hid the tags) then the transmission fuzzes out.
Now to be fair, Gennai did give them one thing: He sent Izzy a map of Server:
Tumblr media
Looks like the Digidestined are headed to East Asia, but with Italy instead of Korea.
At camp that night Joe brings up the “Okay so why trust this weirdo? We could just stay on this relatively safe island we know our way around. We’ve gotten pretty good at foraging so there’s no rush.“ angle, and Izzy the “How would we even get there?“ angle. This is fairly convincing, and Tai can’t turn opinion around. That said, TK speaks up and feels that Angemon would’ve wanted them to go, with infectious enthusiasm that spreads to even Joe as the rest of the team get gung-ho about it.
The next day Leomon and Elecmon show up having rounded up many of the digimon they’ve met so far to help build them a raft with supplies and a sail. No walls though, so it seems poorly suited to any kinda adverse weather.
Tumblr media
And then Patamon’s egg hatches into a Poyomon, our first glimpse of a partner Digimon in baby state.
The baby stage seems kinda pointless in the context of the show: Why have two small round helpless stages to each Digimon’s life cycle? In truth, this is probably a legacy effect of digimon starting as a virtual pet franchise. The “raising“ element of the franchise got diluted more and more as things went on, though at this early phase it basically killed the first Digimon World game, being one of the elements that made it borderline unplayable.
Anyhow they say goodbye and cast off, heading out to sea with two weeks of supplies. The waves proved to be huge, causing seasickness in some of the party and risk of the tiny Poyomon being tossed overboard.
Tumblr media
Random encounter!
And then they get eaten by the random encounter. Welp, that’s Digimon Adventure everyone. It had a good run, see you for 02.
...Whamon’s throat is absudly long even given his massive size from the outside. They land in the stomach which begins to digest the raft, but luckily it turns out that Whamon had swallowed a black gear, and they’re able to remove it. Tai climbs Palmon’s vines to use his digivice on it, then Whamon water-spouts the raft out of his blowhole from his stomach because cartoon writers don’t know how whale anatomy works.
Their raft is destroyed, but by the defeat = friendship principle they’ve upgraded their mode of transport to giant whale, who says he should be able to get them there in about three days.
They wonder out loud where Devimon hid the tags, and Whamon goes “Oh yeah I know that, I saw him hide something on the sea floor on the way there.“
Y’know, there might just be something to the “destined“ part of digidestined, because they sure as shit never woulda worked that out except by blind luck. This show reaches almost J.J. Abrams Star Trek levels of absurd coincidence at times.
Naturally, the underwater cavern contains a convenience store manned by a giant mole Devimon had geared into being a guardian for the tags. A single champion level digimon is by this point just a token speedbump however. As Ikkakumon and Kabuterimon free Drimogemon from the gear’s influence, Poyomon locates the tags within the store, giving them a buncha lanyards to wear their crests on later. Honestly, other than being a necklace it’s wildly unclear if the tags actually -do- anything, but apparently finding them was important regardless.
Episode ends with the kids riding Whamon into the sunset towards Server, wearing their new accessories.

It’s Odaiba Day, so naturally I’ve been crying all day but ALSO its been about a year since I did my last Takari headcanon post. So bc it’s August 1st and all, I’m gonna answer some questions on the otp questions tag about these two and boost my spirits enough to write this next angsty chapter of my Digimon fanfiction :)
Full disclosure: most of these will bounce off from my other headcanon post about these two, but will also changed with age, so I’ll be sure to note if there is an change as they get older
Adult headcanon: Kari is a kindergarten teacher and perfect example of a human being, while TK is a struggling author who forgets to feed himself half the time and sleeps like two hours a day. This is drastically different from the party animals they were in high school and college.
These questions were taken from otp-imagines-cult <3
1: Who spends almost all their money on the other?
TK, because he always feels bad about Kari having to baby him even though he’s a grown adult. Their apology presents
2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap?
Kari, because she’s small and can fit
3: Who walks around the house half-naked and who yells at them to put on some clothes?
TK walking around half-naked because when he gets in a writer’s-block phase, he doesn’t leave the apartment for days, and Kari’s always yelling at him to put some clothes on because she wants to keep him on some kind of daily routine to help his mental state
4: Which one tells the other not to stay up all night and which one stays up all night anyway?
Kari tells TK not to stay up all night, but TK stays up all night because he has a deadline with his publisher that he’s stressed about, but Kari always find him slumped over his desk when she wakes up in the morning.
5: Which one tries to make food for the other but burns it all by accident and which one tells them that it’s okay and makes them both cookies?
TK tries to make Kari a meal when she gets home from work, but he can only bake things, so when his meal turns out shitty, Kari orders them takeout and lets TK bake her cookies instead because he’s actually a really good baker and she’s not
6: Which one reads OTP prompts and says “Oh that’s us!” and which one goes “Eh, not really”?
Kari reads the prompts and says that they’re her and TK because shes a romantic mess, but TK over-analyses each prompt and says they’d only work in a book
7: Which one constantly wears the other’s clothes?
Kari’s constantly wearing TK’s shirts to bed because TK forgets to do the laundry while Kari’s at work. She also likes to put on one of his shitty hats and wear it around the house to tease him.
8: Which one spends all day running errands and which one says “You remembered [thing], right?”
TK spends all day running errands while Kari’s at work, and when Kari calls him during lunch and asks if he got everything for himself, that’s when he realized he forgot like soap or something. He always remembers everything of hers, but will forget the smallest thing of his.
9: Which one drives the car and which one gives them directions?
TK drives and Kari gives directions from her phone.
10: Which one does the posing while the other one draws?
In college, TK did the posing while Kari took the photographs (instead of drawing because Kari canonically loves pictures). They actually had a short phase where TK was instagram famous for his style.
11: If they were about to rob a museum, which one does backflips through lasers and which one is strolling behind with a bag of chips?
TK would be doing the backflips through lasers because Kari would be too nervous of getting caught. Kari would send Gatomon in with TK while her and Patamon kept the getaway car running.
12: Which one of your OTP overdoes it on the alcohol and which one makes the other stop drinking?
LITERALLY MY FANFICTION Before they get married, TK overdoses because he’s trying to drown out memories about Devimon killing Angemon taking shots in beer pong instead of beer and everyone wants to keep playing him because he’s the greatest. Kari is just as drunk as he is, but gets him to stop drinking so they can go home and fuck.
13: Which one likes to surprise the other with a lot of small random gifts?
Before they’re married, it’s Kari, giving TK candid photos she took of him or cute little projects she was learning to do for her elementary ed degree. After they’re married, it’s TK, giving her cute little trinkets he saw while he was out running errands or just to thank for her putting up with his dumb ass.
14: Which one keeps accidentally using the other’s last name instead of their own?
This is never a problem with them  but when they get engaged, the other DigiDestined start calling Kari “Mrs. Takaishi” and she accidentally writes “Kari Takaishi” on her last final of college and has to jump through hoops to get it fixed in order to graduate, so there’s that.
15: Which one screams about the spider and which one brings the spider outside?
Neither one of them scream about spiders because they’ve seen worse Digimon, but if there is a bug, TK normally handles it.
16: Which one gives the other their jacket?
TK gives Kari his jacket and hoodies because they fit her like a dress and his style is impeccable and makes it look like Kari chose to wear that instead of her just being cold.
17: Who keeps getting threatened by the other’s overprotective older sibling?
NEITHER ONE OF THEM BECAUSE MATT AND TAI BOTH APPROVE OF THE OTHER’S RELATIONSHIP AS LONG AS THEIR SIBLINGS ARE HAPPY but Tai does try to give TK a stern talking to when TK asks Tai’s opinion on marrying Kari, but it doesn’t work out well because after everything they’ve been through, TK isn’t scared of Tai.
18: Who’s the first one to admit they have feelings for the other?
Kari admits her feelings first when they’re drunk, and when they talk about it the next day, TK admits that he’s feelings before Kari can. So Kari admits drunk, TK admits sober.
19: How good would your OTP be at parenting?
Kari would be okay once the kids can walk and talk because she’s a kindergarten teacher and she’s pretty decent with kids, but TK would be so afraid because his dad was never around much after the divorce and the closest thing he knew to a dad was Matt. TK would be the softy parent because he doesn’t want his kids to hate him, and Kari would have to do the disciplining because she grew up in a stable home environment and can handle her kids being mad at her for a little bit. They both have no clue what to do with an infant, but TK is better with them as teenagers though.
20: Which one types with perfect grammar and which one types using numbers as letters?
They both type with perfect grammar because one’s an author and the other is a school teacher, but Kari uses more emojis than TK so I guess that’s it.
21: Who gets attacked by a bully and who protects them?
Neither one of them gets attacked by a bully because they’re friendly little kids, but sometimes in high school, TK had to be held back whenever someone made a derogatory comment about Kari while she was dancing for the dance team.
22: Who makes the bad puns and who makes a pained smile every time the other makes a pun?
Kari makes the bad puns because she hears them from her students daily and TK painfully smiles because he doesn’t want to hurt he feelings.
23: Who comes home from work to see that the other one bought a puppy?
TK buys the puppy because he’s always wanted a puppy and Kari’s pissed because she’s a cat person and specifically told TK she would never own a dog.
24: Which one gives the other a piggyback ride when they’re tired?
TK gives Kari the piggyback ride, but that’s mostly when they’re in the Digital World
25: Which one competes in some sort of activity and which one does the overzealous cheering?
Kinda canonically, TK competes and Kari cheers (just going off that one episode in 02 but I can live). TK plays basketball and Kari is on the cheer-dance team that goes to every game, and Kari always cheers the loudest for TK. When the cheer-dance team makes the players signs, Kari always makes and holds up TK’s sign. He’s kept them all.
26: Who takes a selfie when the other one falls asleep on their shoulder?
Kari always takes their selfies no matter what TK is doing, but she has so many of TK sleeping with his head on her shoulder after a long night of partying.
27: Which one would give the other a makeover if they asked?
TK would give Kari a makeover because he is a Style Icon and Kari constantly wears sun dresses and TK wants to see her branch out from that.
28: Which one owns a pet that the other is absolutely terrified of?
Not a pet because they don’t have a pet, but for the sake of answering the question, TK is more afraid of Gatomon than Kari is afraid of Patamon, because he knows that if he messes up, Gatomon will be the one to kill him, not Tai.
29: Which one holds the umbrella over both of them when it rains?
TK because he’s taller, but Kari is the one who always checks the weather to see if they need an umbrella or not.
30: If your OTP went on vacation, where would they go and what would they do? Who would take the pictures?
TK and Kari would go to France and stay with TK’s grandfather and tour the French countryside and drink glass after glass of French wine. Kari would take all of the picture, but TK would steal her camera and take a few candid ones of her.

Digimon The Real World Report
Not an entirely positive review, but I tell it as it is.
I agreed to meet friends at 10am, despite the exhibition not opening until 11am and the website asking people not to line up early. My friend arrived at 9:30 and still had 30-40 people in front of her. The heat was really bad – it’s not meant to get hot for another few weeks, but it feels like we’ve skipped spring and gone straight to summer :/
We had to climb the six floors up to the exhibition, leading to very confused looks from the other shoppers. We had our tickets checked and those of us who bought the expensive tickets to get the goods got them then. There were flowers at the front door to celebrate the exhibition opening from important people (usually it’s from producers, VAs etc, but I’m not good with kanji and was trying to find my camera, sorry ;; I believe there are photos on the official twitter tho) We then got to go through in batches of 10-20 people and got given the sticker etc then.
I will be honest. The exhibition wasn’t that great. It was fun and nostalgic, but more than half of the stuff had ‘no photo signs’ and there were ‘guests’ (media?) walking around with luggage and just looking generally confused. Add that to the amount of people and the heat and it wasn’t the best experience. Staff weren’t prepared for the amount of people/the passion of fans and were often in the way of photo shots and were INCREDIBLY slow at the cash register. I spent maybe 30-40 minutes in the exhibition, and close to double that in the store.
One guy likened it to war and I’d be hard pressed to say he was wrong. People were pushing, there were CLEARLY resellers, some postcards were damaged due to fans grabbing and pushing. Most people had lists of what they wanted, grabbed their stuff and left. Others inspected every single piece of merch, wondered and kept coming back. It was hard to even get to the merch as people kept pushing. Keep in mind a lot of people had big shopping bags and or/ita bags, so things were catching, people were bumping their heads when they were getting on the ground to get stuff on lower shelves, it was hot and people were super slow.
I’m all for taking your time, but if you’re pondering, leave the line and come back later. One woman was with her boyfriend. He was clearly the fan, she was tagging along. She kept picking up post cards randomly and showing them to him (outside the line) and he was like “I just want Koushirou”. Of course she had no idea who that was so kept picking random ones :/
People were limited to 30 can badges. I believe in total, not of each type. By the time I was in line, they had staff making us empty our bags and counting badges, putting them in plastic bags and numbering how many gold or summer badges we had. This made the badges easy to do at the cash register, so it was a good idea.
The exhibition itself was cheap looking. Very cute and nostalgic, but it was pretty clear this was a quickly thought up cash cow with the intent of getting people into the shop or paying a premium for the limited goods through the expensive tickets. My friend said this as well, so it isn’t just me being bitter. Am I glad I went? Yes. Was it fun? Yes. Would I go again? No.
It may seem like I’m being bitchy, but there’s only so much you can gush about cardboard lol It was a good experience, but some Digimon BGM mixed in with Butterfly etc would have made a big difference. Staff acting like tour guides could have been cute. Voice overs from Gennai or the kids (even generic things like “watch out!” “over there!” etc) would have made it feel like an immersive experience.
You start by seeing a cool holo thing of Gennai. Would have been nice if there was a voice over, but it was basically just tri (?) themes playing in the background. We then walk into Pinochiomon’s world, so you see a bunch of his minions with signs saying ‘puzzle’. Takeru is off in a corner with a generic happy face while Pinochiomon is standing at the bottom of fake stairs. Patamon is at the top, unable to come down because Pinochiomon is a dick. –insert ‘great friends you got there’ audio here plz-
We then see Yamato and Cherrymon. Gabumon is next to Yamato. Lots of the art is just generic art, like Yama’s ‘cool guy’ pose.
There were crests hidden around the area but I only found three… Apart from the brothers, there were no cut outs of the kids you could take photos with. Maybe they switch them out? Seems weird to not have Taichi at least…
Next room is no photos. All about the Digivice toy line and a bunch of samples which was cool. Then a bunch of storyboard art, which was cool. Nice drawing of Sora and Taichi’s apartment. There was a Gennai cut out with a bridge behind it, where you could take pictures. Now, I don’t know about you, but Gennai was never a fave of mine and I don’t think a lot of people will really see him without remembering that infamous Tri scene now. Also, who would you rather? A picture with a Digimon or a Chosen, or an old geezer? A fun thing, but you gotta wonder who made the decisions here.
Next room was more bad mon cut outs before we see the puzzle thing. Remember when the kids needed to go to the real world and they had to solve a puzzle to open the gate? That, but there was a button in the middle. Press the button, a gate on the tv opens. Again, who made this decision?
It shows a variety of sad Adventure scenes.
Angemon dying? Done. Leomon? A groan/laugh went through the crowd. Taichi being forced to leave Hikari? Check.
“Hey, what should we show videos of?” “The kids made a triumphant return-“ “No.” “No?” “Make them suffer.” “The fans who have been supporting our franchise for years? Waiting in long lines for overpriced goods? Having a good time and keeping us in business?” “Yes.” “Make them suffer?” “Yes.” “…alright then.”
I thought it was just a reel of deaths until the Yagami one came up lmao.
The next room has the train. The front of the train had the Tri intro video (Taichi, 17 years old – that one). We couldn’t take photos of this which is really stupid considering it’s been on youtube for free for years lmao.
You could go in the train (boring on the inside - no decoration, just plain walls. even if they’d just painted the inside to look like the real train it would have done a lot) and lots of people were taking poses from the final scene. When you were in the train, if you looked out the window, you could see cutouts of the mons, which was really cute. It would have been nice to have staff photographers or to have lines so people could take photos without having 30 randoms in the background.
That was it.
It was just the store after that. It was fun and I’m glad I went, but I wouldn’t rush back. Rather than an exhibition, it seemed like something you would find at a convention.

About Digimentals, Crests, and Jogress
So, imagine that one day, after hearing about the experiences of the original eight chosen, some of the younger chosen (particularly Ken) get tired of all the unanswered questions: What’s the difference between the Crests and the Digimentals? Where did the Crest of Kindness come from, and why wasn’t it a part of the original eight.   What’s up with all that time that Ken can’t remember?
So Ken and Daisuke get a wild itch, and go ask Gennai.  And Gennai, surprisingly, finally tells them Everything:
“This may surprise you, but the digimentals existed first.  The ones we knew of, which held the digital world in balance, were the original Eight -- Courage, Friendship, Love, Purity, Knowledge, Faithfulness, Hope, and Light.   Each of the four Holy Guardians of the Digital World ruled over two digimentals each.  Courage and Friendship, Love and Purity, Knowledge and Faithfulness, Hope and Light.   For the sake of the digital world, my comrades and I created the Crests -- items drawing from the Digimentals of old, and intended to focus the innate abilities that dwelled within the Chosen Children.  You might say, they were chosen not only because of their bearing witness to the original incident in Hikarigaoka, but because they also embodied the traits of the Digimentals.   We also created the digi-eggs that would hatch into the Children’s partners, and who would be tied to the crests from their conception.
As I’m sure Hikari has told you… things didn’t exactly go as we planned.
Eventually, they were all united with their partners, the Crests and Tags recovered, and their potential realized.   But then of course, we had to call them back, and ask them to give up that which they’d unlocked.  We needed the power of their crests to strengthen and stabilize the digital world. And it helped, for a while.
But then, there was Milleniumon.
Ryo had become a strong ally already.  But you, Ken… you were a surprise.   Ryo’s destiny was a complicated one, and one he could not handle entirely alone.  We could not bring any of the 8 original Chosen back, they had already sacrificed their strengths for our stability. They would have been, I’m sad to say, very little help, with Digimon that couldn’t evolve.  We did not anticipate you being a crest-bearer -- the Digimentals we knew of had all been bestowed, and returned.  But it was Wormmon who brought to my attention, the depth of the Kindness you possessed.  There was a prophecy of sorts… “Kindness will release the Golden Light.”   (Daisuke says, “Wizarmon said the same thing!”) Yes, and I will get to that.   You see, I thought, perhaps, it was possible to create a new digimental.  A Crest was, after all, only meant to draw out the chosen’s inner strengths.  So, I set about creating the crest for you.  Instead of drawing from the Digimentals, I instead linked it to Wormmon, and through him, to you.   (And Ken says, “So, the Crest of Kindness--”) It comes from you.  From both of you.  We used your digitized code to create a new digimental. (And Daisuke asks, “Is that why… it could talk to me?”) Yes.  Because of it’s… unusual nature and origin, it possessed an odd sort of sentience.  Because, it drew from deep inside of Ken, and Wormmon. But I was unable to give it to you, before…. The incident.   After Milleniumon… I believed I had misinterpreted the writings. I dared not destroy it for what it might do to either of you.  Instead, I hid it.  Sent you home, obscured your memories of your time here.  I thought it was for the best.  For you, and for the Digital World.    After Ryo passed from this realm to his fate, much of the memories surrounding his existence went with him.   It is why, even now, you cannot entirely remember him.  It is as if he never existed here.  Ryo was gone, and I believed we would never call you back again.
But you returned on your own, in the guise of the Kaiser, and bringing with you the dark towers born of knowledge from Dagomon’s Ocean.  Perhaps the link was too strong.  The crest was drawn to Wormmon, and you found it, oblivious to its true nature or purpose, and put it to use powering your base.    And, you had created something new. You had turned your Digivice into something much greater.  You were able to exert control over elements of the digital world, using the power you had brought over from the Dark Ocean.  You inhibited the power of evolution.  I began to think, I had done the digital world a disservice in blotting out your memories, for they might have aided you in fighting off the influence that had fallen upon you. We needed the power of the Digimentals again.  Through research, we found that there were a few digimon who were capable of utilizing the Digimentals directly, and achieving Armor Evolution.  In order to utilize the digimentals, there were Several factors that needed to coalesce.  The first, was to have a Digimon who would utilize Armor Evolution.  The second, was for that Digimon to be partnered with someone who possessed the trait represented by that Digimental. The human partner needed to be able to connect with the digital world counterpart.  Patamon and Tailmon already possessed this ability, but none of the other six partnered Digimon could.  We found only three other Digimon capable of Armor Evolution;   Armadimon, Hawkmon, and Veemon.  In order to make the greatest use of armor evolution, these digimon had to be partnered with someone who could embody two or more of the digimentals. That’s why Iori, Miyako, and you, Daisuke, were chosen for the task.  Among the hundreds of children who had witnessed the newest incident in 1999, and the battle against Diablomon on the net, only you three had the potential we most needed.    We replicated Ken’s D-3, allowing you to traverse between your world and the Digital World at will, the same as he could.
Ken, when you began creating Chimeramon, we knew things were taking an even darker turn.  We feared that, given Milleniumon’s origins, you may be on the track to creating him anew.  Although we could not reclaim the Crest of Kindness ourselves, the Holy Guardians were capable of manipulating it.  Around the corrupted crest, they fashioned the Digimental of Miracles.  Daisuke, did you ever wonder about that Digimental, and why you were able to obtain it, and for only just a short time?  Or why it is that Wormmon was able to bestow his powers to Magnamon? (Ken and Daisuke just stare, waiting for the answer to a question they’d never really had)
You see, Veemon and Wormmon have a history.  For a time, though not in exactly the same way, Veemon was temporarily partnered to Ryo.   (And cue the shocked expressions “?!”) The two of your Digimon already shared a bond, that due to Ryo’s transition, neither of them remembered clearly, if at all.  The same phenomenon that wiped Ryo’s existence from this world and yours, completely dissolved their connection. But it was through a combination of Wormmon’s connection to the crest of Kindness, and Veemon’s connection to Wormmon, combined with your own innate traits, courage, and friendship, that you, Daisuke, were the only one who could obtain and utilize the digimental of miracles -- a digimental created from the uncorrupted heart of the Crest of Kindness -- to release the golden light, and fight against the darkness that had invaded.  To have the courage to stand against the Kaiser, but also the capacity to befriend him? Well, that would in fact, take a true miracle.
But, that is why they are Jogress Partners… and that in turn is why you are jogress partners.   You’re both aware of Omegamon’s existence, of course.  Jogress had long existed in various forms, but it was the use of Tailmon’s Holy Ring that allowed for us to assist more digimon Jogress Partnerships forming between the digimon partners of Chosen Children.   We could create more potential, with the right codes.   Love and Purity would resonate with Light, and Knowledge and Faithfulness resonated with Hope.    Between you two, Courage, Friendship, and Kindness… but it was more complex, more layered than that which we helped forge between your comrades.  That is why, Paildramon -- Imperialdramon --why they’re so different.  Why YOU are so different.  You bear a closer resemblance to Agumon and Gabumon’s formation of Omegamon, than to Sylphymon or Shakkoumon.” And the boys just look at each other, and they don’t really know what to say.  It answers a lot, but also brings up more questions.  About Ryo, about the other Chosen around the world... But their brains are having enough trouble digesting all of this. The rest can wait for another time.
