Peepers head canon

I already head canon a lot of silly dog traits for watchdogs, (happies = zoomies etc) but there is one that's a bit more niche. There is this thing with dogs where they patrol and check up on people, stare, and do a little hop and run away in a cute sort of way. Or if a dog is unsure of a new person you will see that pause, miniscule bob fake out, skitter away, it's pretty comical. It's not zoomies... I can only describe as silly canine shyness? So, I think when Peepers gets SUPER shy about something he goes quiet and embodies some soft spoken/fiddly Marvin the Martian cuteness. Perhaps Peepers is even selectively mute. I can see him as selectively mute as a kid. But he also gets these urges to scramble too if he can. Like. (something that throws him for a loop) (flustered)!!! Pause. Stare. A beat. nyoom-- (Optional: Lord hater voice: PEEPERS!!!! GET BACK HERE!!!!!) Peepers RARELY gets that shy, but on occasion specific things just make him skedaddle away. Head empty, urge to bolt lol. Run away from those situations! You can't answer a sore heartfelt question if you're halfway across the skullship! etc. Otherwise, anytime he's flustered he just nerdy rambles and scoffs nonsense and then goes quiet and leaves. maybe comes back in for a quick "you're all a bunch of babies" or something of the like lol.

Nikke: Goddess of Victory event Beauty Full Shot minigame spoilers: (LONG POST)

So yesterday, I managed to catch the last couple fish in the fishing minigame!!

I'm surprised there wasn't the great white shark?? I guess that's just gonna happen in the story instead? Unless it's like a 1 in a million chance of getting it in secret or something? But the fucking whale lmao, that mf was SO HARD to get.

In general, it was super fucking hard to catch them all, but I really grinded for the first couple days to keep getting all the fishing rods (the blue one at the max 60k price level is the best for catching the large fish because it does the most damage), and then all the equipment, too.

Hot tip: Don't bother with the red puddles until you've gotten the highest fishing rod and practised on the blue and gold puddles (unless you're already like a god at rhythm games, but I'm sure NOT especially on a touch screen).

OH also, I don't think the game explained it, but the casting animation before the rhythm game is for choosing which size of fish you want to get, NOT for the starting percentage of the rhythm game. (I mean, yeah it affects the percentage, but ALL blue catches start at like 50%. All of the legendary ones start at 80% regardless of the fishing rod or equipment.) Took me a while to notice that and I would've saved myself a lot of attempts if I'd have just aimed for the easy blue section on the meter in the beginning (I was clicking the gold one every time and suffering because it went too fast every time, and was confused why gold wasn't giving me an easier starting percentage).

You can see how much I've been playing the game compared with everyone else. It's fucking addicting and I gotta catch 'em all. Almost at 1mil earned lol.

The fucking Spongebob easter eggs were hilarious. I caught Spongebob and didn't realize that's who it was supposed to be until I caught Patrick next. RIP Sandy.

Anyway, yeah, that's my post. Just wanted to share bc I love Nikke and the event and the mini games. I even went and got the Dave the Diver full game on PC bc I'm OBSESSED with the Aegis minigame and it's so chill and cool from the few minutes I played (just got it so haven't had time to do more yet). It was also on sale! (Probably still on sale?)

So yeah. Really loving this event, they really went all out. OH and the music, too? Love it.

The Final Girl

you're very tired, aren't you? thrashing and fighting and trying to survive– it has taken its toll, but that has not stopped you. you'll continue to gnaw and scream and bare teeth until you can free yourself from this mess, even if it means being the last one left. there is rest at the end of this hard battle, i promise you. there is a time when the fight will be over– but fighting is all you know, isn't it?

I ended up doing this quiz 3 different times and got 3 different answers for her. All of them fit her to a T, each one fitting her in a different part of her life. This one though, just felt most fitting to her now, in her present timeline.

Von's been fighting all her life, from her poverty-stricken childhood to her time under the Tyger Claws, then finally her induction into Maelstrom. From one horrid situation to the next. Fighting tooth and nail all the way, refusing to be put down, refusing to let it all end for nothing. To have it all be meaningless.

When she breaks free from Maelstrom's grip on her leash there's blood seeped in her chrome hands and her lips are stained black with lace. She tries to live a normal life, or something close to it. A roof over her head. A stable job. Enough eddies to eat for the week. Even then its all so hard when every hand moved too quickly is a knife to the guts and every raised voice is ice down her spine. She bites every hand that means to feed her because she can't tell the difference.

She tried to get rid of every piece of rusted scrap Maelstrom built her with, undo all the damage, tend to all the scars. Even then-

ok this not exactly a scrapped scene but an entire scrapped storyline i had was from my chili fic, these sunlit days our hands engrave; i don't think it'll ever be a standalone, but it was. a fun idea. initially, i was going to have one of yanwang dijun's court officials Qiu Zhaosi be a traitor of Yueshi (for cdrama reasons of loveee) but ended up. not doing that （〃・ω・〃） ....it was a little bit too complex to fold into the narrative haha....however, for your reading pleasure, im putting down the unreadable messy notes i had in my docs for him:

'You, of all people, should understand, gongzi," he says. "You would do anything for those you hold dear, would you not?"

Official Qiu receives a threatening note—same matching pouch like his, and a cut off hank of a girl's hair, with blue ribbons next to it —his lost love, who has Anemo Vision (survive energies longer) and plays guqin in battle

Official Qiu is revealed as the traitor —his true love slaps him, he says it's fine as long as she's safe, he knew the price he would pay.

He has to go over to the enemy side, to serve their kingdom as strategist/be their hostage.

Childe takes his place instead to feign being the traitor - to escape from Yueshi, because Zhongli will be too weakened by replenishing the seals AND also fighting to undo the barriers for Childe (and he missed the auspicious hour to leave, because Childe left Zhongli waiting to see what Official Qiu was up to). 

Childe knocks out both Official Qiu and the girl to keep them from arguing with him. Sends up a signal flare, turns on his heels and leaves by himself to confront the enemy battalions

would love to hear your thoughts on the team bullying/forgiving jamie in s2, in particular what you disliked about it. imo i think sam’s treatment was harsh but not at all undeserved, while others like colin and isaac were a bit twisted considering they fully participated in the prick-ish behaviour in s1. and the whole led tasso bit was entertaining to watch, but it really reveals how problematic ted’s hands-off approach to conflict can be. to the point where ted refuses to refer jamie (and later on isaac) to speak with sharon, and never fully acknowledge’s each player’s feelings.

There was a really good meta I saw on this topic the other day that i cannot for the life of me find in my tags to link here. But yeah, there are definitely things I disliked about it! For me it's less about the players than about the leadership & Ted. I actually think the players reactions/responses mostly make sense. It's a bit weird, like you said, that EVERYONE suddenly hates him when half the team was literally participating in and/or endorsing him in season 1 (remember that episode where the team is split into two factions and one of them is Jamie's? lol. Like it wasn't even just Isaac and Colin participating in the behavior, it was half the team). However I can see that their opinion of Jamie might have changed given distance and their own growth.

Also, we don't really see any instances of Jamie publicly bashing his old team apart from singling out Ted and Roy, but apparently at one point he was off calling Colin a jaundiced warm to his hometown newspaper, so yeah I can see why that might've left a lingering bad taste in his mouth. Also the boys have gotten used to Richmond without him at that point, and it HAS been a much better environment, so I think it'd be easy to overlook that they were actually sort of starting to like him at the bonfire the night before he went back to Manchester (which was ultimately only just one night), in favor of focusing on all the times he was made the locker room worse. Also, there's probably a bit of misplacing their hatred for their past selves onto Jamie because it's easier to shift that blame around a bit than accept their own culpability in the bullying. Just like it's easier to blame relegation on Jamie, because he's there to blame, then on their own shortcomings in the game. Is it a bit unfair to Jamie? Sure. But it's realistic and I don't mind it.

Actually the only one I'm a bit ??? about is Dani, because he was absolutely getting along with Jamie in Two Aces even despite Jamie's prickish exterior. Dani hadn't even been around long enough to be negatively impacted by Jamie's effect on the locker room culture so? what gives? I also don't see him bandwagoning on just because everyone else hates him (which does make sense when jan does it hahah). So it's very weird to me that he holds as much of a grudge as everyone else, lol.

The biggest issue for me is (once again. woop.) Ted. Because he didn't want to get rid of Jamie in the first place. He was in fact IRATE when Jamie was sent away, and got into his first real argument with Rebecca over it, that's how upset he was. So why is he soo hesitant, suddenly, to let Jamie come back? His whole speech to Jamie at the Crown & Anchor makes me uncomfortable, because the whole "You burned a lot of bridges" thing doesn't even add up to the real reason Jamie was sent away and totally dismisses the progress he had already started to make before leaving. It seems to reiterate that Jamie was sent away because he'd been Bad and Done Something Wrong. Sent away after he'd in fact had a significant breakthrough with the team. No wonder Jamie is confused. Ted is crossing all kinds of wires and it's ??? Not to mention that he tells Sam Jamie isn't coming back, then brings Jamie back seemingly without even pulling Sam aside and explaining to him circumstances have changed, Jamie is coming back, and why. It's one thing to have told Sam and then change your mind. It's another thing for Sam to tell you he's upset at you for withholding information, explain that's not the case, then go and do the thing you JUST assured Sam you wouldn't: not consult the team re: Jamie. Idk, the whole thing rubs me the wrong way.

Ted having a conversation with the team beforehand, explaining why Jamie is coming back, would've already gone a long way to help Jamie, instead of just springing him on them and throwing him to the wolves. Led Tasso was typical hands-off Ted problem solving, and it's a funny comedy show bit but not exactly an appropriate workplace solution, is it? I might not mind it so much if it wasn't the start of a pattern of behavior where Jamie needs help, asks for help, and then is like...ignored or gone around or "acknowledged" and not helped. it happens with his return to the team, it happens with Roy refusing to coach him, it happens with fucking Zava. And it's extremely annoying that the team leadership fails him specifically again and again. ugh.

Re: Sharon/therapy and referring the boys, that one is soooo mixed up in ted's own mental health stuff I'm willing to give it a pass. of course Ted's not to going to refer players to see her when he doesn't see what she does as helpful and doesn't respect therapy as a possible tool/solution.

Do you have a pet?

No, but I frequently get visited by a cat that is older than I am (She's like 22 or something lol). But my mom, my sister and I have been wanting to get chickens!

Comfort food?

I don't really have one? A steak, maybe?

How many languages do you speak?

My native language is Swissgerman, so naturally I also speak High German and obviously I speak English. So let's say 2.5 languages, because the two Germans are similar, but not the same.

I wanna learn many more languages though, that includes; Romansh, Italian (we had it in school for six fucking years but I can barely speak it), French (these three are the other national languages of Switzerland), Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Greek, Russian, Japanese, Welsh, Old Germanic, Latin, Old English and perhaps spanish. There are just sooo many beautiful languages in the world, though I know I will probably never get past the 2.5. 

Random fact about yourself

As a kid I got so sick of radio music that I didn't listen to any songs with lyrics in them for about 2-3 years. I only listened to Dubstep, which eventually turned into only listening to Deathstep (and some robo and metalstep) for about 2 years.

One day I found a remix of the songs Psychosocial and The Devil in I by Slipknot. Slipknot was my gateway band to metal. I practically only listened to them for probably more than half a year.

And then I discovered aliencore. Aliencore is a subgenre of death metal in which, you guessed it, everything is about aliens. So I got obsessed with Rings of Saturn at first (I still mourn them deeply) and later on with Aversions Crown. So I pretty much only listened to them for probably more than half a year too.

Then I got obsessed with Behemoth and Gorogoroth for a while, that's how I began listening to black metal too. About one or two years ago I got obsessed with Ghost and only listened to them for more than half a year, AGAIN!

That was the last time I obsessed over a band. Now I just listen to a bunch of different bands and artists. I don't have a favorite band at the moment, but my favorite song is Sommer by Nargaroth. I also love Starchild by Wintersun, Fading Memories by Thy Pallor, Wieczernia by Batushka, The Sun, The Moon, The Star by Aether Realm, Million Year Summer by The Angelic Process, The Satanist by Behemoth and a bunch of Slipknot songs like Gently, Iowa, Scissors and The Virus of Life.

I really just rambled about my entire musical journey, fucking hell.

Something you’re proud of?

In my last year of school, we had to do a final project. I chose to write about how I imagined the future to look like. I researched everything to be as scientifically accurate as possible. I had a bunch of ideas for topics, and in the end I ended up with six. They were: “Can you bring artificial intelligence to life?”, “What could the future of space travel possibly look like?”, “How could the cities of the future look like?”, “Will humanity go extinct?” “What is the technological and human singularity?” and “What is my idea of transhumanism?”. (The original titles are in German).

I had a blast during the presentation, I even made somebody cry actually. I showed them a video of ChaosGPT and it actually frightened some. One girl was wiping her tears away. To me this was really funny, because I put the video on 2x speed which made the Mozart music in the background sound really funny. Imagine some evil AI planning to destroy the world, while a girl is crying as Mozart is playing at 2x speed in the background and I just stand in front of the whole class and two teachers, trying to hold my shit together.

Anyway, I got a 6 (best possible grade) for the written work, a 6 for the journal and a 5.8 for the presentation (I talked for over an hour, which was a little too long, but the rest of it was fucking great!!!), so I received a -6 for the whole project. My other teacher also gave me a 6 (It's an unofficial grade though) and the whole class had to give me a grade too, which were all 6s too!

So yeah, I did a fucking amazing job!

Currently chipping away at Chapter 8 of Midnight Chimes (Astarion x Cursed! Tav), tentatively titled 'Creature Comforts':

[Naomi's] never known such comforts as her own room with a featherbed before she’d known the surface. Astarion wasn’t so cushy, and not nearly so warm. But his company was comfort enough, it seems, for Naomi to stumble into sleep. She clears her throat, glancing sideways, but already knowing the elf must be long gone. She must have him to blame for the blanket. And, apparently, the boots. Tentatively, Naomi reaches for the shoes left in Astarion’s place. Her fingertips follow the bright blue stitching on the sides, curling into leather that’s been carefully polished free from age and wear. He didn’t find them like this, she’s sure.  She’s also sure he’s flighty. Dangerous, even. More because of his tongue than his teeth. He’d sell her to save his own hide if he had to. If they stood in each other’s shoes, and the Gur had come for her, perhaps she’d be in chains right now. Maybe Astarion’s never known such comfort as having someone watch his back.

I promise Dhampir Dreams part 2 is in the works, but I'm gonna be updating Midnight Chimes first before digging into that one properly. 💜💜💜

the empress @swiftispunk tagged me in her wip wednesday post this week, and i’m suddenly inspired and back on the writing wagon, so here are a few lines from the dave york x babysitter!reader fic i’ve finally gotten around to start! i haven’t even finished a first draft, but i wanted to share with you anyway. i’m feeling so out of practice so be patient with my language lol:

You lean over his desk, one hand on the table and one on the armrest of the office chair he’s seated in as you squint at the screen. It’s probably very interesting, but the only thing you can focus on is the sliver of ass you know is revealed when you bend over in this particular skirt. You’d usually wear something more work appropriate, even just a pair of hot pants underneath. But this weather… This heat… You’d only been running through the garden sprinklers with the girls anyway. Dave’s gaze is just as hot as he waits for your reaction, and you can tell he’s working hard not to let his eyes wander. Just the way you do, when from the corner of your eye you spot his hand moving absentmindedly up and down his suit clad thigh, letting his palm rest a little too long at the top, thumb grazing his groin where a bulge is growing more and more visible.

For all that the small imp had said Ballard would not be bothered by the suffocating red mist that blanketed him the moments of that slaughter, the urge niggled at the periphery of his consciousness for the next several years anyway.

I think the biggest pattern here is how you can see where I have white-knuckle pried myself away from over-complicated multi-clause opening statements (mostly, anyway)--I like my sentences long and chewy, as is. Pretty much immediately proven by the second line of most of these, which is hilarious to me. Other than that there seems to be a decent mix of action/description, though I do notice that where I open with action instead of description it's a good indicator that that piece is going to be shorter and punchier.

thinking abt what vatnir thinks of seren and how there's probably some strong bitterness and envy there. to be touched by a god, but to have it manifest as sweet little flowers and doe-eyed softness instead of aching rot and a bone-deep chill. to be raised in such a way and be in such a position that they're able to shrug off the disgusted stares and reject the too-awed ones.

they also just baffle him, he does not understand them. how they can nearly have their whole party slaughtered by a dracolich, how they can have a chunk taken out of their neck by a sigil of death, how they can endure the bitter uncaring cold, and come out the other side still kind and lighthearted and silly. he finds their strength and resilience intimidating and honestly kind of scary, but he still prefers life on the rocinante to life on the dead floe, so he keeps it to himself.

(i still haven't fully finished beast of winter so maybe i'm headcanon-ing prematurely with incomplete characterization but. shrug emoji)

switching gears here to characterization for seren, the thing is that BoW does actually affect them more than anything prior, vatnir just doesn't see it cause he didn't know what they were like before. again, i haven't finished BoW so there could be Even More seren has to go through, but the messenger was the most harrowing fight seren has memory of, and the most grievous injuries they've suffered were there on the dead floe.

the white void didn't manage to completely snuff out the light inside them, but it did dull it for a good while. even after they're done there and sail back northwards, a residual tiredness haunts them. it boosts their growing bitterness towards the gods and how they use kith for their own ends.

a good amount of seren's lightheartedness comes from their acceptance regarding being a pawn of the gods. like, they don't remember anything from the first game so they have no frame of reference for how fucked the gods actually are, so up until now their attitude has very much been "this is the only thing i've ever known, i would like to continue living, and at least i get to be with friends! not much i can do about my gods-given tasks so no point in making a fuss about it. guess i'll just go with it."

i am Very Excited to see what happens as the gods slowly wear down seren's patience, and thus their acceptance of their situation :)

Ok first: reference

My first attempt used this reference

It's kinda complicated and the textures where hard to get right. If you're trying it out without any realism experience stick to simpler references like these.

This isn't mandatory this is just what I'd do if I could.

Also I pick my references from Pinterest

Second: brush

I use ibisPaint and for all of my paintings I tend to use 1-2 brushes, these are the codes.

The first is the one I use for mostly EVERYTHING, and the second is specifically for powdered stuff.

If you don't have my program just use a brush that blends with other colors, preferably something like this

Kinda like an oil pastel brush I guess??

Third: my process

I actually saved my process for my last painting! There are three stages, I have difficulty explaining them though.

Stage one

Confession time!! I trace my references. I do these paintings to practice rendering and I struggle with recreating references with just my eyes, sue me.

So either trace or recreate your reference with line art.

Anyways make sure this is on one layer and use the brush you'll use for the rest of the painting, this will also be your rendering layer lol.

Future update: I try to minimize the amount of line art needed. Just use enough to block out your space, you should use your reference for everything else. If you get lost keep a version of the large reference to find your footing.

Stage two

Color pick from your reference and pick out base colors on a layer below your line art, this will mostly be covered but it helps me break down the components of the picture better. (I forgot some of the chocolate dizzle on this drawing woops)

Future update: In these modern times I have learned that doing this underpainting stage is much more efficient with standard, solid, non-blending brushes. I block out the shape with a solid color and then go in with the colors, my typical underpaintings look like this nowadays

I switched this up bc if you look at the one done in the pastel brush there are large gaps, especially when colors meet or come into contact with line art. This allows me to clip the line art+rendering layer onto the underpainting, making rendering easier.

Stage three

✨️ RENDER ✨️

I'm only half joking. Go back to your line art layer and say goodbye to your work!

Color pick from your reference constantly and play with your brush size and opacity often. Try to pay attention to textures, though I tend to fudge it when it comes to spongey (cake) textures bc I like not being a sisyphus metaphor.

Future update: when doing glossy stuff pay attention to highlights. It really gives your gloss more form with minimal amounts of color even needed.

Your colors will blend together, your line art will make it look muddy, these can be fixed. Don't panic‼️‼️‼️

I used two layers and two brushes on this painting, I usually use two layers and one brush but the powder of the marshmallows required the particle brush.

That last one took around 2 hours to make because I work fast, don't feel rushed and invest as much time as you need (or want).

Future update: these take me longer now bc I put more thought into the smaller details!
