NAME ANALYSIS: It means "gentle princess" or "flower princess," which reveals more about who her parents wanted her to be than about her true self. It's also the name of a red berry-like fruit native to the Philippines, but I didn't know that until after I had named her.

hi, first i wanted to say a huge thank you for enjoying my original characters and engaging with edgar! it makes me happy to know people are enjoying them ;v ; a lot of the characters i have, i’ve been working on for years

and to answer the first question, yup! this post particularly while only talking generally in the post itself is definitely also about edgar and co attending bigger pride events: since he comes from a very lgbtq+ friendly place that holds all kinds of pride-related events, he and his friends have been going together for years! they’ve been very open members of the lgbtq+ community for a long time too. the art of ambrose and edgar waving their pride flags is to signify them celebrating pride too!

i’ve also been working on a lot of original characters for this universe, all with a lot of various backstory - edgar has met a lot of people in his journey too. some other characters that are likely to be heavily featured in my universe are:

andre

andre is both a fling partner and a close friend, also a chaotic force of nature who loves dnd-esque types of games and drags their friend seth into their shenanigans a lot of the time. andre and edgar met through edgar’s work, with andre being a frequent customer who was constantly coming back to dye their hair a different color. currently it’s a shade of pink.

if i had to show you one thing that embodies andre and how nerdy they are:

seth

a young man adept at seeing spirits of people who haven’t passed onto the afterlife yet. he often tries to aid them in this. his first boyfriend passed on from an illness, and in a reckless fit seth tried to actively summon his dead boyfriend’s spirit (a terrible idea, never try this) only to fail and become attached to the wrong spirit altogether. seth is the type to rarely smile, often holding a permanent neutral expression and speaking in a drawl. most likely struggles with depression. despite acting exasperated with andre’s upbeat and chaotic attitude he does have a soft spot for them.

kade

edgar doesn’t actually know kade well, as kade doesn’t like to talk much. seth and andre met kade through seth’s then boyfriend. kade also struggles with the same illness seth’s boyfriend had, but is a survivor and carries on for their friend. they have a weaker immune system due to their illness and still have to be careful, but they have long since been in the recovery phase.

arvin

this is ambrose’s (fraternal) twin brother! he’s a methodical type, likes neatness, and seems to easily become anxious in crowded areas. he has hearing aids for both ears, and has needed them since he was relatively young. he likes science and is often seen researching or working on something new. he’s not well known for his expertise though he is very intelligent, but that’s fine with him. he just wants to be in peace to work. like ambrose, he does have demon blood, but his is much stronger then ambrose’s and has left him with abilities such as blending himself into the shadows. shadow demon blood is common in his family - on the flip side, ambrose did not inherit any special abilities. their family is a mix of demons and humans.

bonus: arvin is trying to find ways to help people with chronic illness, as ambrose does struggle with bouts of chronic pain and a stomach condition.

i have something to say as well about this actually. i love female ocs. i have been writing with them since i first started on this fuckass website. i have a ship with a good friend, their female oc, that has been going on literally since i think 2014. as a community, we are awful to female ocs. i watch them get ignored, shamed, sent anonymous hate. i made a blog for a female oc many years ago and i remember deleting it after a week because the dynamics were nonexistent. i really admire anyone and everyone who has a female oc, and they deserve all of the love. please know if you have one you can always, ALWAYS write with me. ship with me too, baby!

on a similar note, i have been writing lesbians on this website for a long time. and there is a very significant difference in interactions when it comes to writing men and writing a lesbian.

the moment i put the word "lesbian" on my bio or character page, interactions drop. people do not want to write with me.

it's better now than it used to be, but still, i get male characters refusing to follow me, because we can't ship. i had an incident many years ago where i found out one of my close rp partners was sending anons to my elsa blog asking "why are you playing her as a lesbian". i've gotten anon hate for it. i've gotten bullied for it on discord and rpc spaces. i've had MULTIPLE male muses send me shipping memes, ignoring my info. once had, god forbid, a writer ask if their male character could be an "exception".

and like to consider myself a fun, flexible writer. i love all kinds of dynamics with all kinds of people. i am not here to write only ships. and yet, i know, the moment i make a new blog and write the word "lesbian" in my character info, that i WILL get less interactions than i would if they were straight.

i've come to accept it, citing both the internet and the rpc as a male-centered space, but really, i don't think i should have to accept it. i think we should have that conversation. why are we so male-centered as a community that we shut out muses who aren't interested in shipping with men?

let me add as one final note: i am eternally grateful for all the dynamics i've reached on this blog. i have many rp partners with male muses who have created interesting dynamics with me, and who love me and rio, and i really fucking appreciate that. please don't take this as a slight at anyone who i follow. so far, writing on rio's blog has probably given me the best overall experience so far in writing a lesbian muse on this website. i just think this warrants a conversation.

I'm making some scuffed relationship charts with some of the cultist ocs in my canon, starting with my version of yellow cat. I've shown him once before in an old meme redraw post. His name is Elijah. He is the unluckiest creature in the whole wide world.

And then for his overall background in my canon:

Leshy and Eli (I'm gonna call him Eli for short ok) do not get great first impressions of each other. It's a short time after Leshy gets out of purgatory. He's been out for long enough that he's adamant on trying to navigate the cult on his own, but short enough that he's still super jittery about everything. And for the most part, the normal cultists know to keep their distance. But Elijah accidentally stumbles his way a bit too close. Gets a chunk bitten out of him because Leshy panicked.

I have a little comic in my minds eye of a little back and forth as Eli is bleeding out.

Eli screaming and Leshy just being like "... uh. sorry. You startled me." "YOU TOOK A CHUNK OUT OF MY ARM" "Yes. And I'm apologizing. Stop being dramatic." "Ohhhh my god I'm gonna throw up. or faint" "You know, most people would consider it an honor." "Both. I think both." And then Eli just straight up dies of blood loss and Leshy tentatively sidesteps away hoping no one will be able to pin it on him.

So when the Lamb resurrects Elijah and there are no consequences, Leshy is baffled. Finds the time to go up to Eli and ask about it. Why didn't he tell the Lamb. Is this blackmail? What does he want?

And Eli is like "oh well you said it was an accident and apologized so I didn't feel the need :3. I die like once a week anyways it's fine." and Leshy goes huh. What.

Turns out Eli is (A.) not the sharpest tool in the shed, and (B.) the most cartoonishly unlucky person you've ever met. He actually does die once a week, often more. Stuff falling over onto him, objects falling from the sky, rube-goldberg-esque events that end with him skewered against a building. It's so normal for him that he's desensitized to it. Also repeatedly dying may have killed some brain cells, but that's neither here nor there. Either way, Leshy is immediately intrigued, opting to accept "friendship" just for the opportunity to experience the bad luck events first hand.

And boy is that a fun time for Leshy. God of Chaos in his natural element. Except, one day, Elijah starts narrowly missing death instead. The stack of marble falls onto the place he was standing only moments before. The roof of the barn collapses in just the right way that he was kept from harm. The onions (toxic for cats) that were mistakenly added to his soup don't harm him in the slightest. Eli doesn't seem too bothered, but everyone around him is always on edge, because this good luck can't last forever, and it will surely come back far, far worse. Leshy hangs around Eli all the same, enjoying the anxiety of the other cultists, and the company of his friend.

Chosen directly by the Queen, Aerlyra Ghorne–a promising yet incredibly unsure woman–is tasked to stop him for once and for all. Basic Premise: Tells the story from a series of ancient journals that are uncovered showing the events following up the total wipeout of all magic. The journal entries focus on a group of scrappy, young heroes who are on a mission against the world, and fail to stop the evils of the world from taking over. All that is left of them is the journals, leaving the ways of the past to be seen as a distant memory and an inspiration to the new generation, who see how the world came to what it has become.

Welcome to the Best/Worst Modern Fairytale Adaptation Tournament!

We've done best Red Riding Hood, we've done best Cinderella, and we've done best Little Mermaid! As voted by you guys, we'll be switching gears a bit and doing Best/Worst Modern Fairytale Adaptations! This will be two simultaneous tournaments to see what is the best modern fairytale adaptation and what is the worst!

If you are confused on what qualifies as "Modern Fairytale Adaptation", please read the following:

By "modern fairytale adaptation" I mean an adaptation of a fairytale that takes place in the modern day.

I will be a little loose with what I mean by "modern day". "Modern" will be defined as taking place around the same time as when it was published. (Ex. "Splash!" is an adaptation of the Little Mermaid that was created in the 1980s, so it taking place in the 1980s works for "modern day".) The earliest I will accept something taking place is the 1950s, anything earlier than that I will not count as modern.

If the modern fairytale adaptation has some magic / a little bit of fantasy in it, it can still counts just as long as the world it takes place in can be reasonable compared to being our modern day world. (Ex. "Ponyo" has a lot of magical elements with the titular Ponyo being a magical being from the sea and her mother being the Queen of the Ocean and her father a magician, but the world she sees on the surface is very clearly our world, so it counts.)

No futuristic settings. (Ex. Something like "The Lunar Chronicles" series by Marissa Meyer, for example, which takes place in a Sci-Fi dystopia will not count.)

Some other rules to read before submitting:

Submit a modern fairytale adaptation to the best or worst brackets. There will be two separate forms for each, so make sure you fill out the right one!

Submit as many pieces of media as you want, but don't submit the same thing more than once to an individual form. You can submit the same piece of media to both forms, if your heart truly desires. (Ex. You can't submit "A Cinderella Story" more than once to the best bracket, but if you think it's simultaneously the best and worst you can submit it once to both brackets.)

This tournament will be for pieces of media, not individual characters. Thus far we have only done character polls to this blog, but don't let that confuse you. (Ex. Submitting "Sam Montgomery" would not be accepted, but if you submit "A Cinderella Story", that will be accepted.)

Make sure you submit a substantial piece of media, such as a movie, TV show, book, short story, comic book, etc. Things like a comic strip, a meme, or a fanfic will not be accepted. Additionally, smaller pieces of media such as someone's OC story will not be accepted. (There might not be enough public info for someone to vote on & it might not be fair to put someone's OC story against a big name like Ghibli or Disney.)

Do not submit anthologies. If there is a series you want to submit that is a collection of different fairytale retellings, like a TV show where every episode is a different story, that is not allowed. Feel free to submit an individual episode where there is only one complete story, though.

Submit something based on a specific fairytale(s), not something that just happens to have a fairytale vibe.

This will be either a 32 or 64 bracket for both. I would ideally like the best and worst brackets to both be the same size (i.e. either both 32 or both 64), but if one is smaller than the other, so be it. I'm going to cap each bracket at 64, as doing any more would be a lot to manage since there already are two brackets.

Submissions will be open either until they reach the cap or for a full week (closing on Friday, June 14th.) Whichever comes first.

(idk why these warnings are so intense, but I swear it's all just silly OC talk T^T)

I’m kinda sorta working on more (comprehensible) TS OC stuff in between studying right now… I wanna hurry and talk about them but without info dumping (if given the opportunity I will without hesitation 😔…) because in terms of the best stories I have conjured up for OCs in general Naudedel and Noble are surprisingly good and I’m very excited to share how deranged they are together…

Right now it’s just about making Naudy readable and working on extra fun stuff… like monsters!

I’m trying to work out his “monster” form…. The concept is there, but the execution is just not ticking the right boxes for me right now… also, the line art at the end is old and probably will go unused, but thought it was something to add here because like hehe look at my deranged son :)

When it comes to the writing I'm going to split it into two chapters. The first half will be a summary+ of his upbringing, and the second on how he fucked up his arm and why. Just enough info to get a read on what his deal is pretty much. I just need to edit the first chapter and rewrite some parts then it's ready to annoy the world!

I'm trying to think of a good design for his original mother... I'm thinking dark hair and milf (¬‿¬)��ﾟ✧ ... honestly I need to start drawing out the designs for all the other TS OCs I've accumulated over the year (?) here's a fun list-

For Noble, everything is plotted out in advance surprisingly…character playlist and all... just need to find the words to explain their story other than “parasite with a weird God complex feels guilty” I do have some old memes and art of them though!

I actually wrote out a whole little thing for the black dress in a what-if scenario of...

"Oh! ,,,What if there is a masquerade in Hightown and Noble sneaks in to get some information on a certain individual who might know a thing or two about curses, but turns out the whole event if devious and their all eating babies or some fucked up shit,,,, and what if while sneaking around they see Leander and are like 'what's he doing here?' and they lock eyes but he ignores them as he ducks into a closed off area with some important looking people,,, once he comes out he walks past them and they lock eyes again as he leaves,,, Noble chases after him and once they catch up they get to see his cold and detached side right before he hides them from the other guest,,, after they talk for a bit, or more like Leander talking over them and their worries as he slowly wipes their memories while they protest that it's not fair only to wake up the next day back in their room,,, thankfully their curse is good for more then just silly bouts of insanity so they have a hunch on what happened, everyone around them who knew where they went the night before were obviously worried and the general consensus is that they might have been drugged and should go check in with Kuras just in case (wow this is getting long...) but on their way to the clinic they run into Leander and of course discusses their current problem with him ,,, words are exchanged,,, a kabedon may occur,,, as he whispers in their ear,,, all fun till he erases their memories again, or at least tires before receiving a little gift that makes him look at this whole curse thing from a different angle." DEEP BREATH! ...Anyways... yeah.

But it was taking so long to write out that I ended up losing motivation so yeah... like everything else we will pray the motivation comes back so I can finish that... plus who knows, I might make an x reader version of it if I can. (don't hold your breath... I'm extremely slow)

mel is a demon (not the biblical kind) and studies whats basically magic biology + psychology =D she also really enjoys traveling and wood carving! cree is human and i originally made him a lawyer of some kind but currently that's up in the air lol, he loves bad tv shows and pointing out the inaccuracies in them! they watch horror movies together and laugh at how stupid the characters are <3

mel is as previously mentioned, a demon, she is thusly immortal so you can imagine the kind of angst that causes considering cree is a human dude, also since i've only mentioned this in some tags, cree is canonically trans

cree is the sole braincell in their friend group most of the time and he only uses it when he finds it funny or when his friends' shenanigans go a bit too far and they need bailing out

mel loves traveling solely for the sake of learning, she's totally the museum going type (cree is too but for completely different reasons) i imagine she gets genuinely a bit bummed when there isn't some kind of guided tour for her to take when traveling (she doesn't need it but she likes the experience)

they hated each other when they first met, cree was in a 'being an asshole is totally a normal and acceptable coping mechanism' phase and mel's usual trauma response is of the 'angry at the world and everyone in it' variety. they became close after being forced to become roommates and having to be in close proximity to each other's pathetic attempts at pretending to be alright

mel is american and cree is german-japanese, mel is completely emancipated + no contact while cree has a cordial but kind of strained relationship with his adoptive mother

mel's face markings are actually burns! (i just kinda suck at illustrating them lol) they extend all down her torso and part of her legs and arms

mel is very strong and frequently swings cree around just for funsies, whether cree enjoys this depends on the day

mel changes her hair very frequently, this is due to her demon-ness providing her shape-shifting abilities, this is hilariously the only thing she really uses it for

cree has a collection of those weird shirts that you see in facebook ads (and also memes) he got one from one of his siblings as a joke and everyone else just ran with it

speaking of siblings, cree has 8 and mel had 1, cree is also a twin though they're not really on speaking terms at the moment

mel cooks while cree bakes, because cree is good at the chemistry-ness of baking while mel is good at the whole add whatever your heart tells you to aspects of cooking

cree totally once mixed some unholy drink concoction (like coffee redbull and cherry pepsi or something similarly unholy) at 3 am and instead of telling him it was a bad idea mel probably asked him for a sip

Chapter I. - 1986

this is my fist writing since my exams; I know it sucks. This oc and her story has been in my mind for a while, so I thought I'd share my torments with you guys. [I have the rest of her life pretty much planned out, due to spoiling the show for myself through memes] In the long run, OC is meant to be the cause of even more torment for House.

Context info: before House had met Wilson, going through grief, whilst also caring for another human being. I don't really know or care, if this fits canon chronology, but '82 is a firm point due to her age. [if I decide to write more, then you'll know, why] Also posting this on A03.

1986.

House groaned, as his eyes locked on the clock. The monotonous clicking always got on his nerves. Never-ending, like the torture inside of him, just boiling him alive, while he has to keep a straight face. 16:54. Just a few more minutes… In a normal situation, doctors weren’t committed to, or rather, prescribed to (by their bosses) to a regular schedule, and a stationary finishing time. But in the last seven months, it had been a necessity for him, given the conditions.

Before the arms even reach the 60th minute, or the big fat zero on the face of the clock, as if undoing a perfectly assembled Rubik’s cube, he gets up with a low grunt, picking up his coat and bag. actually adjusting his coat onto his pointed shoulders would be a waste of time. His current, primary concern is to just get out of the sterile, barren wasteland of single-braincelled and inept colleagues he is blessed with, and the incompetent patients he is faced with. Every. Single. Day.

Ten minutes later, he pulls up in front of the institution. A few tens of  square meters of grass fields, next to the pebbled pathway. ‘These little stones could stab someone’s eye out.. these people are just asking for accidents.’ He murmurs to himself, before walking up to the receptionist, his face betraying his deep exhaustion, the violet circles under his eyes are now a usual sight, as he forces a small smile to crawl onto his lips. He looks at the aging woman on the other side of the acrylic glass, who looks like she would prefer being in Siberia, than at work at five in the afternoon, although, unlike House, she is making an attempt at hiding it, a glossy lipstick-smile plastered on her face, as she looks back at him.

“How can I help?” She asks in a chattering bird voice, which not only annoys House, but most likely also the five year olds she treats just as condescendingly.

“Good afternoon,” he mutters, taking a deep breath to steady that painful smile, “I am here to pick up Diana.”

The receptionist nods, semi-recognising him, “Just one second, Mr House…”

“It’s Doctor–” he cuts himself off, knowing that repeating the daily tango steps always falls on deaf ears. 

He is worn out, even for a twenty-seven year old doctor. Or at least more so, than the average MD-holding person his age is. Which was to be expected, given what happened over the course of just the last six years. In ‘80, he met a fellow med student. Janet Graham. They fell in love soon after, either due to his charms, or, according to his own subjectively statistically more accurate theory, due to his persistence. It was a quick romance, or at least fast. Within a few weeks, he could not remember the last time he had slept without her. Then, after a year and a half, she fell pregnant. As much as both of their logical brains knew that it was anything, but the correct, responsible option, neither of them could commit to it. And so, on the 20th of January, 1982, Diana Joan House was born. He had insisted on giving their baby her first name, but she only compromised to use it as a middle name, and to twist it to also honour his family. His father, since he never really told her about his childhood. And for the first time in his life, he felt truly content. Yes, he had to pick  up a few more shifts. Yes, it was early. But to him, it was worth it. And despite the pressure on him, reading his essays, his homework, his medbooks to the tiny infant whenever she woke up in the late night hours, was one of the best moments of his day. Their American Dream only gave more and more fruits - he had everything he yearned for since childhood, even if it stalled Janet’s education by a year. And then, after three years of bliss with his little family, she was diagnosed with Stage four cerebral cancer. The only blessing from Satan was that Diana did not see her die, after her few months of struggle. This was half a year ago. And now, here he is, a freshly single-dadm, trying to hold everything together, while he waits for his toddler to arrive out of the main daycare area.

His eyes glimmer under the blinding neon lights, as she is led out by one of the daycare workers, her tiny little face lighting up as she sees him.

“Daddy!” she squeaks in the usual deafening tone of any four year old. He couches down, shooting the daycare attendant a small, grateful nod, as he picks her up  his arms. Upon looking her over, his lips curl into a small, knowing smirk,seeing her dishevelled state after a long, tiring day of playing.

“Hey, Sweetie. What happened to your braids? I spent time on those, you know.”

She shrugs her small shoulders, the lavender shirt wrinkling even further with every movement. “The hairband fell out.” 

At home, he keeps a careful eye over hem, as she sits amidst a sea of her toys in the living room, while he is in the kitchen area, making the only food he has known since his late teens, that he knows is better, than just some experiment at replacing Janet’s cooking skills - Macaroni cheese. Her small mumblings are a soothing balm to his soul, after a day of exhaustion and high-levels of alertness, mixed in with his suppressed grief… Except, she is silent. His heart races, as he looks up in a flash. She is sitting on the couch, playing… with one of his medical textbooks lying open in her lap. He puts down the wooden spoon, walking over to the cozy living room, taking a seat by her side on the dark blue couch.

“Whatcha got there, Diana?” his eyes fix on the book. Is it concerning, that this four year old is looking at images on a page informing the reader on the causes, symptoms and description of hemophilia?

“A book,” He sighs at her nonchalant tone. Of course, she is most likely unaware of how unusual what she is doing is. 

“Did you take that from my shelf?” a weak, almost pathetic attempt at parenting, but scolding her would be too harsh, not that he would have the heart to do it.

“No. It was on Mommy’s.”

Her words sting. How can he reply to this? It is clear as day, that she is also dealing with grief and mourning, even if she can barely accept the concept of her mother being gone. But he needs to try, even if he knows that Janet would laugh just as much at his parenting, as Dr Spock would.

“Darling, those books are not for someone your age…” this is soon met with the first signs of a tantrum of sleepiness, even though her eyes do not leave the page for a millisecond.

“But I like it!” And now, she is interested in medicine… this cursed cycle is truly devilish, he thinks. Surely, though, the diagrams cannot be that interesting–

Fuck. 

Her eyes are following the lines. 

Upon this observation, he begins to ponder over whether or not she is actually reading…

“Diana…” he takes a deep breath, blinking to make sure, that this is more, than just a caffeine and sleep-deprivation induced hallucination, or a projection of hisidealised version a child. “...do you know, what the words say…?” he whispers in awe, trying to hit the least accusative tone he can. He reaches out, index finger hitting the thick page. “Do you know, what this says?”

Her head leans closer to the reflective page, wavy locks framing her round, chubby face, and his heart drops into his stomach within seconds, at her delicate voice.

“Hemophilia is a blood-clotting disorder, impairing the body’s ability to stop bleeding. Common symptoms include easy-bruising…”

By now, House’s brain and comprehension has clocked out for the night, completely floored by her advanced abilities. Subnormal. And the knowledge, that his little Diana, the last traces of Janet on this planet, is a little genius, fills him with immense pride. ‘Told you, Jan, that my anatomy essays weren’t boring her…’ he muses with a faint smirk, his arm dropping around her shoulders, as he holds her small frame close. Mind racing with plans of her future education, potential mensa score and university applications, he feels the void inside him beginning to fill, even if only by just a few droplets of hope and newfound self-esteem in his role as a parent, and his genes’ accomplishments…
