Public transport rant

Sooo today I travelled down to London on the train/tube. The journey there was fine (except I somehow arrived an hour early for my interview...) I had bought what I thought was an "anytime return" but oh no - it was an "Off Peak" return *dun dun duuuun* So the ticket checking guy sends me to the ticket office where they tell me that if I want to get the next train (at 17:30) it's gonna cost me £104.00 (bearing in mine my return cost me £57). And if I don't want to pay it, I'll have to wait til 19:30. I had to wait 2 AND A. HALF FUCKING HOURS. In Lindon Euston. On my own. See, I wouldn't have minded if the waiting room wasn't just a small glass box containing a vending machine and about 30 hard seats. There were no plug sockets (my phone had died) and the free wi-fi was patchy. Not to mention you have to pay to use a not-exactly-clean toilet. At 30p a go, Euston station robbed me of £1.20 today. (Yup that's right, those of you who can do maths know I peed 4 times in that station) Had the cost been £20 to get on a marginally earlier train, sure, fine, but no. £104?!?? That's entirely ridiculous! Surely it should be the other way round. More expensive on emptier trains and less on fuller; 2 people paying £50 would equal 50 people paying £2 right?! And I know I could've upgraded to the first class lounge for around £20 but why should fall into their expensive web when they wouldn't give me what I wanted hm? Public transport as a whole is bullshit. See i book trains with a railcard AND 5% business discount yet still the train is always ridiculously expensive whenever I'm travelling anywhere that takes over 30 mins to reach. Now I didn't encounter any buses today but the buses in my town have a serious issue. When it costs me £5 for a return bus ticket from my house to the town centre (40 minute walk one way), but £3.50 to get to the nearest city (7 hour walk lmao) then clearly my towns bus service has done something seriously wrong. Can someone PLEASE review the cost of public transport before myself and (I'd assume) many others decide to just drive everywhere and cause MORE traffic and MORE congestion and MORE pollution and most probably more accidents too. I'm fucking fed up
