dicembre 2019 Gli ex moli lungo il Tamigi, parti del Porto di Londra al tempo il piu’ grande al mondo, sono una delle architetture che piu’ mi affascina in questa grande citta’

Camminando da Tower Bridge verso Greewich si incontrano una moltitude di vecchi moli e magazzi per deposito merci, a volte riutilizzati da imprese e negozi (ex. West India and Millwall Dock http://www.londonsdocks.com/west-india-millwall-docks), a volte ristrutturati ed utilizzati come abitazioni o uffici lungo il Tamigi, od addirittura interi quartieri ed aree residenzionali con piccoli terrazzi che si affacciano su specchi d’acqua. London Docks Cashmere Wharf Launching Soon

London Docks by St George, situated in the heart of Wapping, just moments from Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, St Katharine Docks and the City. dicembre 2015 Sarà perchè ogni volta che ci vado esce il sole e l’acqua riflette tutto. I colori, le sensazioni, tutto diventa in movimento e nel silenzio totale di queste zone ad un passo dalla confusione della vita lavorativa, il rumore dell’ acqua viene assorbito dal corpo e trasformato in pace. Sarà perchè ci sono sempre mille colori, le barche sono “piene”... di scritte, di piccoli e grandi oggetti personali, di metallo, di legno colorato e vernice scrostata. Sarà perchè dietro c’è sempre una storia da raccontare. Sta di fatto che sono innamorata dei moli, qui detti Docks, e delle magiche atmosfere e viste che regalano.

La storia dei moli e del porto di Londra è infinita; io l’ho letta tante volte, ma tanto non me la ricordo. Andatevela a leggere per curiosità. Ogni molo ha il suo passato, questo è quello di Millwall, nell’ Isle of Dogs (isola del cane). Storia pure semitragica.
