Lyrics:
Oooooh yeah
Looking back,
I know I was walking around in disguise,
In disguise,
I was just as lost and I needed a guide,
And the moment that you came to change my life,
Use life burn my heart and make me smile,
Coz' you and I know that,
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around,
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around,
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around.
Things I had,
All fading away a minute and I,
Feel alive,
You have twisted all of my troubles inside,
And you and I know that
Like a little piece of Heaven Finally found
You rebuilt my heart Up from the ground
Ooooooh
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around,
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around,
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around
(Turn my world around),
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around.
Turn my world around, Oh yeah,
Use life burn my heart and make me smile,
And you and I know baby,
Songwriter:
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around,
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around,
I'm a different person,
Yeah,
Turn my world around.

SongFacts:
"Lola's Theme" is the debut single of British house duo the Shapeshifters, featuring soul singer Cookie on vocals. It was released on 12 July 2004 as the lead single from the Shapeshifters' debut album, Sound Advice (2004). The song became the duo's biggest hit, peaking atop the UK Singles Chart and charting highly in Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. In Australia, it was the most successful club hit of 2004.
The name "Lola's Theme" was originally a working title for this record; Lola was Simon Marlin's wife, and it was while listening to her record collection that the initial idea for the track was conceived. She appears handing out candy floss in the music video.
"Lola's Theme" features a sample from the introduction of Johnnie Taylor's R&B hit of 1982, "What About My Love", and it was originally released at the end of 2003 on their own Nocturnal Groove label as a mostly instrumental track featuring a vocal sample taken from Anthony White's "Love Me Tonight". Due to its immense popularity, "Lola's Theme" was licensed from Nocturnal Groove to Positiva Records.
At the same time, the sample of "What About My Love" was then completely replayed by Mark Summers at Scorccio Sample Replays, recreating all elements of the sample (strings, brass sections, piano, etc.). The duo then set about finding a vocalist. After a long search they met Cookie, a gospel singer from the London Community Gospel Choir, who recorded the vocals for the full release.

The fact that a musician makes a fluke hit doesn't mean much for a consequent career. I mean, the Shapeshifters are still going on, but they're a solo project now. Their biggest hit was a product of a duo with the tune showing the soundscapes of the noughts in one neat package. There is a strong sample coupled with a powerful vocals, which was the modus operandi of many at that time. However, there's something deeper going on in here, I would claim. This is a love song, yet the latter serves not as a chance to woo. No, the entire composition basically shows a commitment to another person no matter what happens. Maybe that is why the piece became so popular, i.e. they presented a rarely sung facet of a relationship.

Book Review: “The House In The Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune
5/5
*
I feel like this book has been on my TBR pile for quite some time now, and I've heard a lot of good things about the author, TJ Klune. I'm not sure why it took me so long to read it, but I really wish I'd picked it up much quicker than I have done. It was one of the softest, most comforting stories I've read in a while now - exactly what I needed, and honestly, the sort of book I've been longing for just lately.
The characters are vibrant and loveable, the setting is interesting and well thought out, and the writing was like sinking into a comfortable armchair after a long day. It was cosy and funny in turns, while dealing with some very real issues in a sensitive and clever manner.
Linus Baker, the main character, is someone you can't help but cheer for. He leads an incredibly lonely and boring life at the beginning of the book, working in a job where he's treated poorly by his superiors and colleagues alike, for a governing body that you can immediately tell isn't the most ethical. He stays, in part, because it's what he knows, but also because he believes the work he's doing is important and helpful. There's no point in the story where as a reader I felt his heart wasn't always in the right place, even if sometimes I wanted to reach through the pages and give him a gentle shake.
The characters around him seem to be able to tell this about him instinctually, even though they have cause to be very wary, and I really appreciated the pace the author developed the trust and friendships between Linus and the other occupants of Marsyas Island, especially the children. The way he grows to care for them, to let down his protective barriers, and the way they all value him in turn really speaks to that place in my heart that will always be in love with the "found family" trope.
The relationship between Linus and Arthur was particularly interesting to me, not only because I love a good romance, but also because of how naturally they seemed to fall together. There were points early on where I thought Arthur somehow knew Linus ahead of time, though that never came to anything, and I loved the way they seemed to genuinely just enjoy each other's company. You don't see that as much in romances, sadly, but I'm a big fan of couples who actually like each other as people, and as soon as Linus and Arthur began to bicker about philosophy, I knew I was going down with this ship.
I've said this in other reviews, but it's easy in queer lit to end up dealing with very heavy subject matter, and I was happy to see no big fuss was made about anyone's sexuality. In fact, I don't believe it was ever brought up negatively at all by any of the characters, or even questioned, come to that. It’s the sort of thing I wish I could have seen more of as a teenager, instead of it always being treated as the most tragic thing in the world to be gay.
That said, there were some heavy themes in the story, but as I mentioned above, all of it was handled very elegantly and with a great deal of care. There is an emphasis on being different from the "norm" and the ensuing persecution and prejudice this brings, but it was written in a way that I think a lot of younger readers would be able to see and understand the point without it ever being heavy-handed. Another point was that the adult characters always protected the children to the best of their abilities, keeping the overall tone of the book fairly safe despite the subject matter, and I think that's something that's incredibly important.
I loved this book. I had a spare audiobook credit, and spent it immediately on the sequel because I just couldn't wait. I'm very excited to get stuck in! If you're looking for cosy, happy, urban fantasy with fairly low stakes, then this is for you.

God I love angry and ugly crying expressions on characters

Anyways these screenshots are from a webcomic called Drop Out (can here here! https://drop-out.webcomic.ws/). On the short side of webcomics, with only 116 pages and 2 brief minicomics about the main characters Lola and Sugar.
Content warning is very important here; it's about two girlfriends having a road trip to the Grand Canyon where they plan on committing suicide together. Also contains drug usage, abusive parents (mentioned not depicted), and effects of trauma.

How do you think single dad!touya would tell his family that he has a kid. Would he just one day pop up with her and be like ‘yeah I have a kid’ Also… do you think he would ever let them have her for the weekend? Like a grandma and grandpa weekend? Especially with how is relationship with enji is
hmm, let's think !!!! i always imagine him having kids a little young, a bit unplanned 💀 and, i've said this before, but i think 🥺 he's not around in his first baby's life very much IN THE BEGINNING 🥺 i think he has to go through a whole crises about it and he has to confront his family trauma and willingly step into fatherhood ! which isn't easy for him !! i imagine when his partner tells him they're having a baby, he kind of runs 💀 BUT i think he would tell someone eventually, before she's born, as a sort of hand off ?? of responsibility ?? bc if he tells rei, then he can be comforted by the fact that he KNOWS his mom won't leave that baby behind. even if he's not in the picture, i imagine his mother AT THE VERY LEAST (bc i do imagine all his siblings would want to be there for her too) being involved in her life.
and so bc of that — by the time touya returns and is ALLOWED back in her life by the mama, she already knows and is comfortable with his family ! as far as enji...in every modern au, i imagine he and rei and divorced and separated. is he still around ?? yes, at least with rei and fuyumi and MAYBE shouto, but he's not living in the home or anything. natsu wants nothing to do with him LOL ever.
do we think rei would let enji see her ?? 🤔🤔 bc touya's not around, right, but they all KNOW how difficult that relationship is, so — would they make that decision FOR TOUYA to allow enji in her life ??? i think....they would. and i like to imagine modern au enji as someone that's actively trying to be a better person/figure for his family, so i think he would want to be a good grandpapi to the baby-girl 🥺🥺 she's not allowed with him on her own, but he'll come by if she's with rei and visit !!
i always imagine him coming back in when she's about 2 or 3 ?? so young enough that she never REALLY remembers him not being there, but he's got to live with the fact that he missed out on so much 🥺 and he's gonna spend the rest of his life making it up 🥺🥺🥺

I watched Suzume in cinema today and like the other movies from Makoto Shinkai, I really liked it. I especially appreciated the mix between real events and fantasy so the message was even more impactful and beautiful (there is one scene in particularly, just wow the feelings//////).
And as always, the animation is just stunning (*o*) so much colors and dynamism in it <3333
