For your artists ask (if you’re still doing that) <3
7,8,9,11,15
agggh, you chose all the hard ones lol
7) Favourite works of all time excluding your own
This one is so hard because I have favourite artists, but not many favourite works. Plus, my favourite changes with every passing second but right now I would have to say this drawing of Damian with some birbies by @malenjoyer
I love this art style so much and HE'S SO CUTE
8) What do you like most about your own work
Gosh this is a hard one because I think as artists we're always thinking on whats wrong or how we can improve, but I would have to say the line art. It's my favourite part of the process and I like how much character I add to it, though I want to experiment with a more messier style.
9) What are you currently trying to improve
two things. My colour and my backgrounds. I struggle with picking out background colours that makes the foreground pop out or that just looks nice. And I think almost everyone can agree that backgrounds are hard and boring to draw. But it must be done.
11) Favourite comment you've ever received on your work
I have no idea. I love and cherish every comment on my work. Sometimes I just look through them when I'm feeling down. But my favourite right now is on my comic about Damian riding Batcow. They were basically info dumping about how riding cows isn't actually that great but I put Damian in the best spot to sit when riding. I felt so smart for that, even though I just guessed where someone would sit on a cow.
15) Biggest Art Pet Peeve
I don't have a lot of art pet peeves, more like artist pet peeves. Like those people that make those speed paint videos with the clip of markiplier going "jingle jingle" and slime videos to be like "ooooh you don't have the attention span to watch this speedpaint until the end oooooh you hate artists". I'm being hyperbolic, but I still scroll to spite them lol. But for an actual ART pet peeve, I don't like it when a character has soooo many accessories. tbf that's my personal taste, I still find the art lovely and I still admire those who put so many accessories on characters, if that makes sense??? Like that one post about the art teacher who gave a critique about a girls art telling her to make the teacher hate it? Idk I'm writing this past my bedtime so my brain is a little like mush right know. I also hate people bashing art styles. like the "calarts style" (don't get me started) or any other popular trends. Like dude, ever heard of art eras? Art goes through trends.
Thanks so much for the ask!! Hopefully this wasn't too rambley, I just like talking about stuff lol

hi!! Your art is incredible and awesome... not sure how to say it otherwise but it's super tasty looking lol 🫶
I was wondering if you have ever posted what brushes do you use ? I am always on the lookout for nice brushes! Also if you've got any tips for inking, I'd appreciate it enormously. No worries if not! 💕
hi, thanks so much!
i mostly just use whatever defaults came with clip studio paint. for inking, my go-to is the the default marker pen brush (under the marker tab in pens), but sometimes i'll swap to the calligraphy one (should be in the pen tab), or this brush but with the pen pressure turned off. just depends on how i'm feeling about whatever i'm inking. when i want to add some texturing when toning, i use stuff like the spray or diagonal line brushes (again, should be included in CSP), i just make an eraser version of them so i can also use them on layer masks.
as for inking tips ... i don't have any hard and fast "always do x for y" advice but i rambled a little about how i approach it.
this first point is actually pretty straightforward, it's just to look at inking techniques by artists you like, think about what makes them work so well in their context, and try them out for yourself. this isn't about plagiarizing art styles but more about understanding how other artists choose to stylize certain things in their work, and seeing what works and what doesn't for you personally. sometimes it's through looking at other people's stylizations that you get a better understanding of how you want to approach translating this actual 3d object (people, clothes, background details, whatever) into your own art as well. as you try out various techniques, maybe you find that some of them work well with your own style, and some of them don't and you stop incorporating those. it's all a constant work in progress. over time you can adjust how you use them in a way that fits your own drawing methods and workflows and they just start to come more naturally to you. of course, they may and should change a lot along the way because now it's something that's part of your own style. work on developing a good eye for these things and be thoughtful about what you want to convey and how.
just as an example, daiya no ace by terajima yuji definitely has to be up there for me in terms of influences, the way he approached body lines and clothing folds as a way to convey movement and posing made a lightbulb turn on in my head back when i was still reading it.
not a comprehensive list, but other manga i just like looking at off the top of my head - rookies (morita masanori), anything by yamashita tomoko but i really recommend the night beyond the tricornered window for something that's easily accessible, anything by asada nemui (please check for content warnings for their works first though!), all-rounder meguru (endo hiroki), urasawa naoki's works, dungeon meshi (kui ryoko), witch hat atelier (shirahama kamome), yotsuba&! (azuma kiyohiko), a bride's story (mori kaoru), i recollect love (moegi yukue), the later works of tojitsuki hajime (unfortunately a lot of is now out of print and not accessible online but i managed to get all their books bc their commitment to crosshatching shaved heads each time impressed me so much LMAOSJDsd) etc, etc.
this second thing is much vaguer and harder to quantify but ... honestly just draw a lot and see what feels good to your hand. inking and art styles in general are fluid things. so much of what inking comes down to, to me, is just drawing the lines that in a way that feels good to me. that only really comes from doing it a lot (not saying i'm a hardcore artist or anything lol just that i've been drawing on and off for a while now) and, well, getting a sense of what you like doing. sometimes you might look at a detail you finished that looks really good but feels like a happy accident, and it kinda is, but it's also just as much of the things you've internalized over time. combining the first point (developing your eye and a sense of thoughtfulness about inking) and the second (getting experience through developing your muscle memory) is basically it.
idk if any of this made sense lol but hope some of it helps!!!!!

Meanwhile Jason does what he's doing best which is beating people up and being a creep...
Tbh he's actually just a spoiled brat. No one ever dared to say no to him, so he thinks he can order people around however he pleases. Dude needs a good spanking if you ask me 🙄 Ab auf die stille Treppe!
Now Jason doesn't just want Jump dead, but also Aob (the traitor) and Nont (the guy who dyed his hair). The list gets longer and longer...
But before Jason has a chance to make that hit list even longer, someone sends him a very interesting clip!
That's Jump and Porche!
(I really thought the killer twink was Zouey, but nope, it's our unhinged little master!)
And Porche has just "killed" Jump!!!
Kind of funny that Jason doesn't get suspicious at all. So much for being the great evil mastermind lol
Side note: The shot with the city lights in the background is really nice, almost looks like stars :)
Daddy Jason is having a great time right now. Finally the asshole who fucked his beloved son is dead! Wooot~
Look at him! He's so happy XD
Porche is kinda badass & sexy here though, have to give him that
And as if he has just waited for the right moment (he did), Porche shows up at his daddy's office!
Oh the drama! The acting!
Jason is really eating that up. He loves it so much, I bet he's popping a huge bonder right now... Guess Porche will have to sacrifice his butt for a day or two. But at least he's getting out of this alive, so that's something
Damn 😶
He's crazy...

Stargate rewatch: 1x20 Politics
We pick up right where the last episode left off, Daniel getting his shoulder wound treated and trying to explain the alternate reality to his sceptical team.
It’s funny to see the team not really believing Daniel because it’s still early in the run, whereas later on any of them could say the weirdest shit happened and the rest of them would just roll with it no questions asked.
Jack: “And you were there, and you were there, and there’s no place like home.” Daniel: “As a matter of fact, you were there.” Heh. Is Daniel just frustrated or did he not get the Wizard of Oz reference? Works either way.
I’m curious how the team thinks Daniel got shot by a staff weapon if it was all a dream though.
“Yes but the defining event, the death of Ra, took place in both worlds.” A bit of a logic leap by Daniel but hey, it’s what he does.
This is a clip show. I give SG-1 a lot of credit for actually making an effort with their clip shows, always building them around an in-universe plot to give context and cause. They’re still annoying to watch in these days of binging, but they’re as successful as they can be.
Written by Brad Wright (not including excerpts) and directed by Martin Wood.
“How’s our boy?” I find this very cute? Hammond really is the mama duck to SG-1’s ducklings, the epitome of restrained affection.
His absolute and obvious disdain for Samuels is also a real treat. He rolls his eyes!
Samuels is played by Robert Wisden, who was also briefly in Smallville as Chloe's father Gabe. Both shows were based in Vancouver, and both ran for ten seasons, so there's quite the guest star crossover.
In a private meeting with Jack, Hammond goes from “this is what I look like when I’m not laughing, Colonel” to almost laughing when Jack cracks another joke. I love Hammond so much.
I think Ronny Cox as Kinsey is actually the longest running villain in the entire show? Apophis finally bites it in season 5, but Kinsey makes it all the way to season 8.
“And this must be the drain through which the money flows” is such a great line for a pontificating blowhard politician, as is his hypocritical speech. You immediately know who Kinsey is, and you hate him even though he’s actually right about a lot of stuff.
“Oh you’re right, we’ll just upload a computer virus into the mothership.” lol, the shade at Devlin/Emmerich here.
We get a date for the Chulak mission - 10 February (presumably) 1997. The computer in the previous episode indicated it was December 1997 so assuming time was the same in the alternate universe, it's been approximately 11 months since the pilot which seems about right.
The purpose of the mission is described as “to rescue both Dr Jackson’s wife and her brother, and determine the Goa’uld threat” which is the first mention we’ve had of Sha’re and Skaara in a while.
lol, Jack looking to Sam to give the correct pronunciation of Goa’uld because he doesn’t want to.
Lt Colonel “secondary objective” Samuels being the one to read from Jack’s report about Skaara being chosen really twists the knife.
“Because what is right cannot be measured by strength.” Great Teal’c line.
Argos gets discussed and it’s mentioned that SG-2 made recent contact with them - a nice little background aspect of the show that they do check in on the worlds they’ve visited from time to time.
Much is made of the lack of benefit to the Stargate program - guess that wonder drug from Emancipation didn’t pan out? Or maybe everyone just wants to forget that episode happened.
Sidebar - with all the clips it’s obvious that Daniel’s hair has been getting longer throughout the season - irl because Michael Shanks’ hair was shorter and was growing it out as filming progressed to get that Daniel look, but my headcanon in universe is that Sha’re used to trim it for him on Abydos, and since her abduction he can’t bring himself to get it cut
There’s an ongoing metaphor by Kinsey for the Stargate being a Pandora’s Box that’s kind of apt, the box (jar) being a gift from the gods intended to punish mankind after Prometheus gifted them fire, with humanity as Pandora, eternally curious and unable to resist peeking inside.
The show never had a Goa’uld character who took on the persona of Prometheus, Epimetheus, or even Pandora, which was kind of a missed opportunity.
Samuels the slimeball is “sorry it had to end like this” and Hammond rightly tells him to gtfo.
Nice crossfade, Mr Wood.
The Stargate shut down, the threat of an imminent attack - all in all, a good setup going into the season finale!

woah your colors are very good- is there a process to them? they look so nice
Wah, thank you!!
For coloring, I generally think it's a little bit of having an eye for color -- i look at a lot of other artists' pieces and try to remember things they do that i like with color! And some of it is going to school for animation, where im trying to make things simple and cohesive.
My go-to is
pick colors for whatever I'm doing. This is sort of just...based on intuition. But two things i make sure to do(or try to) is if its a character, I try to limit them to 2 "main" colors and an accent, if needed. I try not to exceed that, personally, because with my art it tends to get too busy looking? But its not a hard rule for sure -- This little guy is blue and gold. The hair is a really light blue, and then the dark blue clothes, and some gold accenting to break things up. Backgrounds i tend to just pick what feels right. But this background has blue, so I make sure its the same type of blue that is on the character.
Then, I have a set of layers that I overlay ontop. I have this saved as a material template in Clip paint and I just drag-drop. This is where all my color correcting happens, tbh.
adjust the brightness and contrast, if needed.
adjust the hue and saturation. I tend to make the picture a little warmer hue, and boost the saturation
I have two textures i overlay, and adjust he opacity per image. One is a paper texture, and the other one despite being named paper still, is jus a static noise texture.
a gradient i adjust colors on per image, but warmbright-to-cooldark is generally my rule of thumb
Then I'll add some glow from the lightsource as a glow or overlay layer, too. this is normally just a gradient and erasing bits
here that is with just it popped on, and then with my adjustments
Next I'll normally add a gradient map, and adjust the color balance to make sure everything looks kind of unified. Sometimes i do this and then delete both of them because i liked it before LOL. But this really helps give a mood, too.
I also change the lineart color. If I'm being lazy, I just make it all one dark, saturated color (in this case a dark saturated red) Now it looks like its hot a summery! Vs how cool coded the original picture colors were!
Thats my like....quick and dirty. Theres a lot of good tutorials on how to actually colorpick initially and everything, but tbh I dont really think about it a ton and I think a lot of it comes from having a large mental color library 😅

selected excerpts from that pool AU that made me laugh
I don't really love how that art depicted lxc but writing him as a foolish, infatuated teenager who constantly puts his foot in his mouth is a new one. and we never really saw lxc in canon younger than his late teens/early 20s, at which point he was already the leader of the sect. so it was kind of fun to imagine. lxc and nmj here are the dramatic couple in the forefront and wx are the subtler one in the background, which is very different. usually wx takes up all the space and drama available lol
"You can share my lane," Mingjue says. "Really? You don't mind?" Mingjue shrugs. "It's a public pool." Frankly, it's not an inspiring sign, but Lan Huan still shoots Lan Zhan a secret thumbs up before clomping down the pool ladder.
...
Lan Zhan startles and checks to make sure Lan Huan isn't drowning. (He isn't, although not by much.)
...
Lan Zhan has half a mind to march over and explain aquatic safety to them. ("Wow, you're so familiar with the pool rules," the lifeguard would swoon. "Let's run away together!")
...
"Wei Ying. Nice to meet you.…are you auditing me right now?" "Auditing?" "Yeah. Like, get me distracted while my boss throws in a baby doll or something for me to save." Lan Zhan is horrified by the implication. He is loyal to Wei Ying in all respects!
in canon they butted heads a bit but in this one lwj sees wwx and literally speaks to him once and wwx immediately has his undying devotion, which doesn't hit as well as the journey they took in canon but it IS funny
Mian Mian is waiting behind him, readjusting one of her lamb hair clips,
mm is literally here to be A Woman lwj is suspected to harbor feelings for and she doesn't even get any lines, but it's cute that the author put in this little detail about her name and its relation to lambs. I don't think I've seen that too much
Part of Lan Zhan's lost hope. Wei Ying's far too lovely for Lan Zhan to just ask for his number. There'd need to be flowers, a helicopter ride, a big heart dug into the sand with "Would you marry me?" written in big letters. Lan Zhan doesn't have the money or connections to accomplish any of that, so he tells himself it's enough to have the chlorine smell permeating half his closet.
also i really love when authors capture lwj's teenage dramatics
That's where they still are, Mingjue rehydrating while Lan Huan looks two laps away from an ER visit. "Yes," Lan Zhan says. “That’s my brother.” "Does he know about the rec swim hours? That might be…uh, more his speed." At this point, Lan Zhan questions if pools in general are Lan Huan's speed. "He's aware.”
most of the comedy comes from lxc being absolutely shit at swimming, but it works for me. I love incompetence comedy. usually.
He must have people asking him out every week with his droplet-laced lashes
his what
He'll never leave here, never take his AP exams or graduate high school. The restroom is his home now.
what did I say about charmingly dramatic teenage lwj
Mingjue plays sax in an improv jazz group.
of course he does...sexiest most powerful instrument for the sexiest most powerful character
They're from rival schools...and school spirit must mean a lot to him. Why did Lan Zhan ever think this could work out?

supernatural s6e12 like a virgin (w. adam glass)
i can never watch a stormy scary nighttime flight scene without thinking of the thing on plane wing in the twilight zone movie from 1983. that movie must have been in heavy rotation on tv at some point in my childhood (clip on youtube if you're curious)
(this is why it takes me 2 hours to watch an episode)
CASTIEL Let me tell you what his soul felt like when I touched it. Like it had been skinned alive, Dean. If you wanted to kill your brother, you should have done it outright.
great, great.
oh, dean. not gonna tell him about being soulless. why do you do this! writers, why must you do this kind of thing over and over and over 😩 please do not drag this out for ages, i'm begging you
BOBBY He's gonna find out, you know. One way or another, someone'll tell him, or he'll figure it out on his own. He's not dumb. He should it hear it from us.
DEAN Can we just leave it alone for the moment, please?
better be a short fucking moment, my guy.
the filming on this car conversation is SO DIFFERENT whoa. it's like they changed how it was filmed, different angles, you can actually see real stuff outside the window, exterior light showing inside the car. what's going on! it's nice, but whoa
DEAN I was with them for a year—Lisa and Ben.
SAM A year?
SAM So then what?
DEAN Didn't work out.
DEAN turns up the music.
MUSIC It was a new day yesterday but it's an old day now
(a new day yesterday, good choice)
every time dean lies to sam "for his own good" i just want to smack him.
PENNY'S SISTER They were just starting to get serious. She didn't want to seem, you know…Not interested. I just wish I'd told her to stay home. We don't even have a body to bury.
not sure what that look was about (wishing sam stayed home [???]->my brain could suggest leaving him at stanford but i mean no escape from their fate). dean giving sam all sorts of meaningful looks in this interview with the sister
man i hate when they have wacky hijinks in the middle of the serious episode. like when becky showed up previously. yucking it up about virgins
the show is so not subtle sometimes, sam's really gonna flex his empathy this episode
(desktop background update, no change) pins in the motel wood paneling? bold.
BOBBY Yeah, yeah. Hey, how's Memento doing over there? He caught you in any lies yet?
DEAN Everything's fine. Sam says hey.
😒
SAM Hey, did we hunt a skinwalker lately?
DEAN Doesn't ring a bell. Why?
SAM I don't know. Just...déjà vu or something. Are you sure? I could have sworn—
DEAN You got to remember, your eggs are still a little scrambled, right? But, yeah, I'm sure.
that deserves several smacks. damnit dean.
the coloring is very unfortunately orange again in a lot of these scenes :( and i don't even know what to say about bobby's ex. weird styling choices. not great lines. mmrgh
preemptively cringing at this sword in the stone bit. god it went on for SO LONG.
SAM Um...Look, I-I would hug you, but—
CASTIEL —that would be awkward.
was that really necessary?
welp, no surprise cas spills the beans. thank goodness. but also DAMNIT DEAN.
huh, so i really expected sam to get mad at dean for lying to him but i guess he's too swamped by guilt over what he feels like he did.
thought this was nell from hill house for a second. so i guess this must be eve. don't know much about her from fic lol
DEAN Cas. Friggin' child.
--
DEAN Sam, Death didn't just shove your soul back in, okay? He put up the great wall of Sam between you and the things that you don't remember. And trust me when I say that the things you don't know could kill you. That's not a joke.
SAM All right. But I have to set things right. Or what I can, anyway.
DEAN It wasn't you.
SAM You know, I kind of feel like I got slipped the worst mickey of all time...and I woke up to find out that I had burnt the whole city down. And you can say it wasn't me, but...I'm the one with the zippo in my pocket, you know? So I'm not sure it's that cut and dry. And, look, I a-appreciate you trying to protect me. I really do. But I got to fix... What I got to fix. So I need to know what I did.
DEAN But you don't know how dangerous that could be.
SAM What would you do? Right. Same thing.
DEAN Sam...
#supernatural#spnwatch#spn 6x12#robosam no more#spn desktop background update#twilight zone the movie#now i kinda wanna rewatch bly manor and haunting of hill house thinkin about victoria pedretti#adam glass

I love Fresh Prince of Bel Air! I haven’t had a chance to watch the newer series. I told myself I’ll give it a chance since their take is more serious and less comedy.
I loved Poetic Justice! Tupac was so cute 😍 him and his nose ring.
Oh no he didn’t lol! I once had a ex who told me I was so little that he should get on of those back carries 🤣.
My one old friend in college told us a story about how she was making out with this guy and I can’t remember how, but he knocked off her wig on the floor. They just both stared at it In silence for a hot second and then he was scared and worried. I don’t think they continued after that for a while.
I didn’t know there was two podcast! I’m glad they included the background actors as well because that really shows they cared and thought of them as part of the Boy meets world family. I have to listen to them because it’s always nice to hear how they would change certain scenes, or how they interpreted a certain character moment.
My cousin had the biggest crush on silly Terence J 🤣 him and Rocsi always had their moment.
I forgot about Eric Matthew’s he was fine too!
Lmao!! She was lucky that day because those trains be going fast! But I guess those 90’s trains were different.
Did you see the clip for the Monsters series about the Menendez brothers? The clip looked more put together than the last season of American Horror Story. Ryan Murphy better put his all into Grotesquerie, because I’m not playing about Nicey Nash! I still don’t know why they canceled The Rookie Feds. I loved that show
I love this gif of Pac. This was needed after listening to Kdot today
There’s a tweet from a guy talking about how one time a cop pulled him over. Cop never gave the guy a ticket but he gave one to the girlfriend because she was so short, he told them it was illegal for her to be in the front without a booster seat 😂
One time, I was working so hard one of my braids feel out and I made a joke about it. My poor coworker was so concerned she literally thought my braid was my real hair and was like “Do you need to go to the hospital? Are you bleeding? Why are you laughing?” and I had to show her that the braid was not my real hair and that my natural hair was still good but dang she had me laughing.
You had me at Niecy ❤️❤️❤️ I love her even if she was a mess on Claws (that show will have a special place in my heart because Uncle Daddy and that damn funeral was a fucking trip). Last thing I watched that was Ryan Murphy related was Dahmer and AHS Cult.
Evan you lucky mf. Dancing with my girl 🤺

🚨BREAKING NEWS COVERAGE🚨 (not actually). but ok so we know dream’s eye injury happened on the same night as his & george’s pizza date right?? like, ~the facts~:
dnf hang out & george has a nap. later they eat pizza (x) (<-george’s little eye roll as soon as dream says ‘last night’ is SUS. so sus)
dream falls out of bed (sleeping), hits his eye and blacks out !? (x)
much later that evening dream drinks beer for the first time ?? (x)
So. SO. taking it all at face value laid out like that it makes me wonder if uh. uhm. were Dream and George having a nap together?
there are obv multiple things dream could be lying about here;
that the pizza story actually took place that night - though given Karl’s genuine reaction to it I think it did. v least it’s the first time he heard the story
that dream got the injury before the drinking. this is the most likely suspect for a lie imo, maybe he got a bit drunk and fell over cringe fail (tho more unlikely since he’s 6’3” - even as a lightweight idk if 2 beers is gonna make that much of a dent??). still kinda makes more sense than smacking your face that badly, blacking out, waking up covered in blood etc and then deciding “nice. time to party and get drunk with blood pouring out my eyebrow!” tho. i doubt that’d be drom-approved behaviour
(sidenote do we know if dream went to any creator parties sat eve? who do we think he was drinking with - just george, dtkq & co, or somewhere more public?)
I guess it also depends on whether we think george & sapnap asked about the injury on stream as ~content~ for chat or if it was the first time they were hearing it irl too. (probs for chat - foolish & punz didn’t react to it when dream wandered over iirc, didn't ask if he was ok). ig they all talked about it earlier/the night before
maybe dream made this story up & something else happened entirely aka keemstar’s right and dream got jumped lmfao. zero evidence tho & dream seems to only fudge details when he lies rather than inventing whole stories
I'm tinhatting the sequence of events as dnf nap > george pushes dream onto the floor in his sleep (rip dnf cancelled) > pizza 😞 > dtkq drinkies lol. or maybe; dnf nap > pizza hangout > drinking > falls out of bed a lil drunk and wakes up in the morning with injury.
idk if this even makes sense? what do you think? HOW DID THIS EVENING PAN OUT. my heart is telling me dnf sex at twitchcon tho. crisis
first of all I love you I think you just provided me a missing puzzle piece for the night now to delve into this very fun speculation, I actually missed the bit in the keemstar dm's where he mentions he went drinking AFTER the injuries! I have a speculative answer for one of your questions no.3 who were they drinking with? Hasan and his group, because of this clip
you can hear hasan in the background of this clip using his british voice and saying how gnf "got blasted last night" Hasan that night had a small low key dinner night with austin Valkyrie and some others iirc, but after they also disappeared - I think george and dream were together for dream's 2 beers and they were with hasan's group getting drunk
sapnap, foolish, karl, tina and quackity were all spotted leaving to join the more public parties, dream and george were no where to be seen that night, but we do know that karl sees dream once at least before he gets his injuries because karl says something along the lines of "last I saw you I told you good night and you looked like you were tucking in for the night and the next day you're all beaten up" karl saw dream before his injuries right before he took his NAP his FIRST sleep of the night I genuinely think your theory about dnf napping together is spot on, and then they had their pizza and went out with hasan and austin 😂
for no.4 I definitely think george asked about the injuries for the stream, he seemed from his mannerism like he knew about it already, karl's reaction was genuine, george's asking about it was just to fill the lull in the convo
#dnf#long post#I couldve gotten some things wrong about who was hanging out with who but hopefully the gist is all there

DNP Rewatch: A Week in the Life of Dan and Phil!
Date video was published: 04/22/2018 (X)
DNP Main Channel Rewatch: 376
A DITL-style video! The first one of those since Australia (unless you count Dan and Phil AND DOGS! which you could).
0:00 - love the crew member standing there to help but DNP just going too fast, lol
0:05 - what is Dan doing, lol
0:09 - “d-don’t do that” Dan had immediate regrets
0:15 - floppy Phil quiff
0:51 - aww at the pastel plushies in the background
1:02 - the “good vibes” shirt! sad that Phil doesn’t wear this one anymore because it shrunk. especially now that we know that DNP are always sending “vibes” to each other. Phil also even wore that red jacket for his passport photo at this time...the II branding was strong
1:16 - extreme shaky-cam. filming while walking does not work that well
1:40 - ahahaha “I’ve already done enough yoga with you” reference to the yoga challenge bit of Giving The People What They Want
1:53 - “this is literally pornography” 😳 for Dan at least I guess... I am impressed with Phil’s all-in-one-motion stand there
2:01 - Dan once again with a strange sitting position
2:22 - they would see the real set for the first time a few days after this video was posted
2:27 - awww at Dan’s soft voice for the “for you, Phil”
2:41 - I mean...that is probably a 6-foot tall door which isn’t that short
2:47 - Dan smile 🥺
2:59 - <surreal meme appears fullscreen> of course
3:18 - even while rehearsing together all day...still having lunch together too 😭 wanting to spend that much time with another person is really something
3:25 - not even close with that throw from Dan 😂
3:40 - Phil getting so high-pitched with nervousness there. and I love most of the crew in the background not even caring what is happening, lol
4:01 - “it’s actually nice” what was Phil expecting, lol
4:06 - “stop doing that” as he zooms in on it more ...alright
4:27 - well then.
4:33 - “hello nips” wtf. also the banter back and forth on it afterwards is great
4:52 - “pigeon fest” was what they did for April Fool’s Day in 2018. also, Phil with matching socks! that plant does survive and thrive
5:07 - still shocked they filmed basically in bed and then put it in the video. 2018...so loud
5:28 - also jesus christ Dan’s hands are huge. how does he even type on that laptop
5:46 - I know this is a meme reference (right?) but Dan saying “six me” in that voice is um. something.
5:52 - that sweatshirt looks like it would be very hot to rehearse in
6:10 - LMAO at Phil desperately covering his dick. and the crew laughing in the background throughout this clip
6:18 - and Phil telling Dan “cover your balls, it does hurt” but Dan choosing to protect his face instead 😂 I guess we know what’s important to each of them, ahahaha
6:34 - they are having fun with this
7:05 - love that Dan is so anti-props while Phil has an entire props chest at home
7:13 - that is...quite the selection especially before seeing the show at all
7:43 - nice dodge there from Phil, and then straight to the banana eating, lol. which Phil did not have to include in the video but did even after saying not to film it
7:51 - god I love this casual clip that doesn’t even have anything to do with the show 😭 like...Dan just spending time in the lounge while Phil plays a video game. a regular evening.
8:12 - Dan’s red patch is out. also, I love that we found out in one of the stereo shows that Phil is the one who encouraged Dan to play piano for part of the show
8:33 - fond teasing
8:35 - again, before knowing where this falls in the show...this was quite the teaser, haha
8:52 - and now we have to live with the knowledge that these came from a sex shop...thanks stereo era
9:18 - oh Phil...that was an easy one!
9:39 - love that Dan does not approve of that question. and that in typical little-brother fashion, Phil just shocks him again 😂
9:52 - love the random things scrolling across the screen in the background
10:04 - so much detailed planning
10:20 - and implying that without it, they would just stand next to each other the whole time
10:25 - haircut time! both of their hair was very long in the previous clips. also, having someone come and give you a haircut in your own bedroom sounds quite convenient. also the haircut guy wearing a very Dan-esque shirt
10:35 - awww at encouraging Dan 🥺
10:45 - another clip they really didn’t have to include but chose to
10:51 - Dan had posted pictures of that and some of the concept art previously
11:16 - lol at the different accent Phil is putting on for each of them
11:51 - Dan really wants to put meaning on things
12:02 - the merch was released just a few days after this video
12:22 - so much back and forth between the living flat and filming flat in this video
12:29 - “you’re not naked, are you?” wtf Phil
12:50 - “you’re pulling it off” Phil is used to Dan’s ...unique...fashion choices at this point I think. Dan liked it enough to post photos in it that day too
13:03 - lots of social media content from this warm day...a Phil tweet and Instagram photo (posted a couple days later) too
13:29 - Dan was not enjoying the wasps that came out in the warm weather
14:12 - it does look so dystopian compared to all the other buildings
14:37 - how even. so lucky
14:45 - Phil’s got the same shirt on but Dan’s changed out of the romper
15:08 - Phil sticking to the “everything is improved with a bit of glitter” bit, haha
15:29 - “foot content”. also, still have all the TATINOF cubes left in teh background as decoration from the Easter baking video
15:38 - now Phil has changed into comfy pjs. also, sitting right next to each other on the couch, again after spending the whole day together already... and more “foot content” although Phil’s in this case
16:10 - love Phil filming Dan like this. same vibe as him filming Dan directing the trailer in The Making Of ‘The Amazing Book is Not on Fire’
16:26 - this must have been the very last day of rehearsals. don’t know about that singing...
16:48 - Phil watching Dan talk in this car clip 🥺
17:23 - Dan must have won...we never see Phil wearing those sunglasses
17:26 - Phil had posted a photo with the cherry blossom back in early April when it was blooming
17:55 - they really did start posting insta stories in the days right after this (1, 2)
18:49 - literally almost entirely fried things and dips there
Unlike Giving The People What They Want, this probably does make a “top 10″ list of joint videos for me. I love it so much. I think I just like the casual style a lot.
Phil posted this less than a week before their first II show in Brighton. They also hung out with PJ and Sophie while they were there. Also these (1, 2) stories. 👀 And this one.

ahhh ur art is absolutely gorgeous!! do u have any advice on drawing backgrounds? /gq
AAAA Thank you so much anon!
Tbh I'm still learning myself so I probably can't expand on areas like messing around with perspective etc. etc., but I can definitely give you a few things that helped me start out.
1. Study images, photos, screenshots, etc.
2. Rule of 3rds
3. Study color
When I started to dip my toe into painting bgs more seriously, I heavily relied on Genshin Impact screenshots. At around that same time, I became a Genshin content creator, so I wanted to learn how to draw places in Teyvat! The more I practiced, the less I needed to rely on screenshots. I still do use screenshots and Pinterest photos of rooms and stuff for inspiration tho.
All in all, if you're focusing on a more realistic style, it's mostly recommended to study from real life stuff when you're learning fundamentals.
---
When it comes to the composition itself, I usually like to apply something I learned in a photography course I took when I was still an art undergrad called the 'Rule of Thirds'. It's a great general rule of thumb so your backgrounds look nice and well planned!
I'm terrible at explaining these sorts of things well, so I pulled this explanation from the Adobe website. (lol)
"What is the rule of thirds?
The rule of thirds is a composition guideline that places your subject in the left or right third of an image, leaving the other two thirds more open. While there are other forms of composition, the rule of thirds generally leads to compelling and well-composed shots.
If you imagine dividing a photo, or even your camera’s viewfinder, into nine equal zones using horizontal and vertical lines, that forms your rule-of-thirds grid — a setting you can select on most cameras and even on your phone.
“This might be a generational thing, but if you think of The Brady Bunch intro where you have the nine identical rectangles,” Ingersoll explains, “they’re all the same size and it’s three by three — three rows, three columns.”
That means the corners of the central square are the intersection points in your grid where you want to place the focal point of your shot. It’s called the rule of thirds, but you can think of it as giving you four crosshairs with which to target a shot’s important elements. This will help you balance your main subject with negative space in your shot to nail an effective photographic composition that will draw the viewer’s eye."
source: https://www.adobe.com/ca/creativecloud/photography/discover/rule-of-thirds.html
Personally, when I'm dealing with my backgrounds, as you've probably noticed before, I'm absolutely OBSESSED with painting skies, landscapes, and all that good stuff. My professor who introduced us to the rule of thirds had us practice this by taking picture of a tree, and wanted us to have 2/3rds of the grid rows with sky, 1/3rd with the ground and vice versa. He also advised against taking pictures where there's half sky and half land (i.e. directly in the middle of the grid), because it could look boring!
Of course this doesn't have to be followed religiously, but it's a good way to avoid stressing about how you want to arrange your background. After a while of practicing that, it's something that unconsciously becomes a part of your workflow.
---
Color is.... a really gray area tbh (lol). If you don't understand how to work with it, it can be one of the reasons why painting backgrounds could be very painful. I couldn't really grasp how to color well until I took a painting course (also when I was still an undergrad student), and I was forced to face coloring head on with acrylic paints. My prof taught us some great tips to jump off from that I kept applying even after I dropped out of the program.
I'm sure you're probably familiar with color schemes! (complimentary, triadic, and analogous), and if not, here's a great resource on it https://www.canva.com/colors/color-wheel/
But the tip that helped me the most was 'depth by color"! Here's some slides from the ppt to give you an idea (I'd send the whole color theory ppt. cuz it's really useful, but I don't think I should since it was class material, so here's the three slides.
So yeah! When I wasn't sure which colors to pick for my acrylic paintings, I referred to this method of creating space through colors, and was able to get a better understanding of how to use them in my bgs. I don't follow this method as often anymore cuz after a while of using set palettes, you're able to know what feels right and what doesn't.
This is also kind of unrelated, but if you use Clip Studio Paint, it has this really useful menu called 'approximate color', which is also pretty great for picking colors as well.
I usually have it set to "red" and "saturation", but toy around with the settings to get some color options you prefer!
---------
Anyways, I hope some of these tips will be of use to you. A whole bunch of the learning process on making quality bgs revolves around a lot of learning and a lot of practice. Let's all do our best!

Trophy Wife Aesthetics for Black Women
“Hi! What do you think are the non-negotiables of being a trophy wife? Aesthetically. For black women. I think white women have a different level up journey.”
I was asked this question in a chat but I wrote so much information that I figured I should share my response with you all as well. I’ll try to make this as concise as possible.
I’ll start by saying that aesthetically, Black women have to be more than cute. White women are considered beautiful just for being white, we don’t get that privilege, you know? However, being beautiful isn’t the end all be all. There are plenty of black trophy wives that aren’t naturally “beautiful” but they present well. Presentation is everything kind of like food. It may taste great but you may not even want to touch it if it’s presented poorly.
Here are my personal non-negotiables:
1. Keep your hair done. This doesn’t mean keep your hair in a weave or wig 24/7. You can be natural too. One of the more affluent men I dated actually preferred my natural hair over wigs. But make sure it’s well taken care of, always. Deep condition, moisturize, detangle etc. Use clips in if you need the extra volume. If you’re going to do weaves and wigs, make sure your closure is “undetectable”. Keep flyaways in order with an oil or mousse. Carry a brush and comb with everywhere to touch up every now and then but not in front of him if possible.
2. Your skin has to be pretty taken care of as well. If you’re his wife, you’re going to be waking up to him every morning. I don’t believe in waking up earlier than my man to put on light makeup and stuff. Men aren’t even worth that lol. But DO try to achieve great skin so that you still are pretty when you wake up. Doesn’t have to be perfect. Many people don’t have perfect skin. But make sure you’re washing, toning, moisturizing blah blah. I’m starting to follow the 10-step Korean skincare routine. It’s on my blog If you guys want to check it out. I’ve been investing a significant amount of time in learning what acids do what and how they can address my specific concerns. Good skin overall just makes you look wealthier too. So on “no-makeup” days, you can just do eyebrows, and lipgloss and mascara if you don’t have lash extensions and still look put together. Affluent men tend to enjoy outdoor activities, there will be times when you don’t wanna be in a full face but you can if you want to. The same goes for skin on the rest of your body as well. I shower about two times a day so I moisturize my body two times a day. To moisturize I use a mixture of oils, shea butter and regular lotion. I moisturize my hands every time I wash them too. Once or twice a week, I do a full-body exfoliation. I have a dry brush that I use and occasionally, I opt for a scrub instead.
3. Take care of your teeth - Straight white teeth against melanated skin is >>>>. Plus it makes you look prettier, more put together, and of course, wealthier. Straightening teeth is expensive but a worthy investment. If you can’t straighten now, just whiten and take good care of your teeth in the meanwhile. Brush twice daily, floss daily, and whiten throughout the week.
4. Keep your nails done. Can’t be too long or else we’re considered “ghetto” I usually go about medium length but a lot of blogs will suggest short. My man loved my medium length nails lol. I usually go for softer colors like baby pink, sometimes white. If I’m not able to go to the salon, I clean and file my nails down to an even length and paint them with a clear polish. It’s hard to make a mess of clear polish and my nails still look nice and shiny. I pop collagen pills to improve their strength because I naturally have weaker nails that break pretty easily.
5. Wardrobe. Try to build a timeless wardrobe with a lot of basics you can build on and mix and match. For example, blazers are a staple for me. I wear them with jeans but I can mix them with trousers too. Then I have hella basic bodysuits I can wear with either combo. An easy trick for me is to buy a ton of neutrals. I’m not a big color person so it’s easy for me to shop this way. However, do not let my preferences deter you. Black women own color, if this is your style, go for it full throttle but be tasteful. I usually go more colorful on vacations. There are tons of articles out there on how to build a good wardrobe though.
6. Stay in shape - I won’t say there’s a specific body type you need to have but take care of your body. I’m still working on working out consistently but because of skinny privilege I’ve been able to lack in that department and still be perceived as “fit”. Currently, I try to do flexibility stretching and exercise on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays. Stretch on weekends. If you get cosmetic surgery like a BBL, breast job etc. make sure it’s fitting for your frame.
7. Lastly, this doesn’t apply to aesthetics but I feel as though black women have to DO SOMETHING to be snatched up as trophy wives. We don’t get pulled into that position just for being pretty as often as white woman do. For example, Alexis O. Of Reddit wifed Serena Williams who is the best tennis player in the world. Not some random girl he thought was cute. Prince Harry wifed Megan Markle who was not only a successful actress but also had an outstanding educational background to match. Janet Jackson married billionaire businessman, Wissam Al Mana. Now of course, many of us aren’t that successful yet but hopefully you get the point. Men in positions of higher status want to know that you can fit into his lifestyle and don’t have beans for brains. Having something going for yourself also gives him something to invest in. Men like to feel needed or helpful but not used.
Additionally, owning a business or working in corporate greater increases your chances of mingling with men in positions to make you a trophy wife. There’s a reason why college sugar babies are so successful but for women past that stage, have a career, have a small business. Do SOMETHING. It also creates a safety net for you as well. Men can be unpredictable and can do horrible things. I read an article once about a man who hid his entire fortune in offshore shell companies when him and his wife were divorcing so that she wouldn’t be able to get anything. It took her lawyer literal years to untangle that web of shell accounts he spun. Running your own business or even having a solid set of skills saves you in the event of the worst of the worst. Your life shouldn’t crumble to pieces if this man decides to divorce you. Same goes for even being the spoiled girlfriend of a wealthy man. Having a wealthy boyfriend or husband is one thing, knowing how to use him as a resource is another. Girls who truly win at this game walk away from these relationships with more than a few handbags and a baby.
Good Luck Ladies! 🥂

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episodes 73 and 74 Subbed (Finalized)
(Previously: Episodes 71 and 72 Subbed [Finalized])
(Check out my Subbed!GX Stream Masterpost!)
73: Kenzan VS Saiou! It’s Dinosaur DNA, Don
To see the “unwavering power” he had foreseen for himself, Saiou visits the Academia and challenges Kenzan to a duel. The cards in Saiou’s Tarot deck cause fate to alternate through their upright and reversed positions. Kenzan faces him with his Dinosaur deck, and for a moment it looked as though he was in the lead, but Saiou seemed to foresee even that. As he cleverly uses the upright and reversed effects of his Strength, the symbol of this “unwavering power,” Saiou drives Kenzan into a corner.
74: Treeborn Frog! Living Toad! Death Frog!
To decide the destination of the upcoming field trip, Judai duels Rose, a fair lady representing Saiou whose deck is a Frog deck. She opens by accumulating T.A.D.P.O.L.E.s in her Cemetery to summon three Death Frogs (ATK/1900), using her Death Chorus Magic Card to wipe out Judai’s Monsters for a direct attack--one that inflicts a massive amount of damage. She then fuses all three to summon her Three-Death Frog. But Judai thinks something is off about Rose and her obsession with frogs...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ding, finalized!73 and 74 are done!
This next double-release is good, 73 is a bit of an infamous Kenzan ep as we find out about his *deep breath* DIIINOsaur DNA, but we also have Saiou making moves to make sure there aren’t any hitches to his plans, as he makes it to Duel Academia to see what this “unwavering power” is that he foretold through his Tarot. We also have a nice callback to the Drawiches from Season 1 (and Ed just drawing the Golden Eggwich like it’s nothing), in a few scenes that the dub for some reason decided not to include, and we see some more of Saiou’s interesting deck and how it ties into his idea of fate.
74′s also neat as it introduces the field trip we’ll be going on the next few episodes (BYOBento), and we’re introduced to Princess Rose, with her Frog deck and the nods to the Frog Prince fairy tale--also showing that Saiou seems to have connections to some big people in the world (coming in handy later). She also works to tie in Judai’s Spirit-seeing abilities (and we get this good scene), while also establishing that Manjoume so far still has his despite joining the Society of Light. It’s also a Kyoung Soo Lee-team episode in terms of animation direction, and it looks gorgeous--this is around the point his episodes start to look really good, and there are a lot of really nice shots. (Though I may be noticing that much more because of the DVDRip quality of the video remember when it was so hard to get 74 in good quality)
In terms of animation fixes and stuff, both episodes got a fair amount of them that I picked up on, from little quality-of-life stuff to card fixes and bigger animation error fixes that came out nicely, along with an onscreen translation teasing what I’ll be doing in 75. Details below the cut, as usual, along with a few Translation Notes for some things that came up.
Enjoy, folks! With these done, we’re off to Domino Town for the next couple releases! (Oh, and I opted to work with “Domino Town” for the name, since “Domino City” struck me as a bit of a mistranslation of 童実野町 (Domino-cho)--I went through my logic here.) The next double-release will be with 75 and 76 as Shou and Kenzan’s bonding the last while comes full circle in a Tag Duel (as we revisit Mizuchi’s first appearance too), then I’ll likely try to knock out 77-79 together so that I don’t end the release after on a cliffhanger, lol. Stay tuned!
Fixes/Edits! (73)
This error shows up in the episode proper and is listed below, which was fixed for 73′s preview in 72, but it also shows up in 99%’s episode clip. As Saiou swings his hand as he has The Chariot attack, there are two frames where the lighter coloring on part of his sleeve wasn’t added, so the sky background behind him seeps through. Fixed by coloring it in with the light white from the rest of his sleeve in Photoshop, using the second frame so I could also fix the sky seeping through his hand in the first frame, and applying it to the video in Sony Vegas, zooming it in slightly for use in the first frame.
As Saiou first summons The Chariot, the shot of his Duel Disk is missing the dirt floor background we see in other close-ups of his Disk, along with his missing face-down Reversal of Fate. To fix this, I first grabbed a shot of the floor from the earlier scene as Kenzan hands Saiou his deck for his Vision of the Future’s effect and masked out Saiou’s Disk above it in Vegas. Then, from episode 43, I took a close-up shot of Mitsuo’s Disk with a face-down card in it, clipped out the face-down and worked it into the frame with Saiou’s Disk in Photoshop, then put it back into Vegas to mask in the Disk Zone above it, along with Saiou’s hand and the Chariot card moving over it as he places it in his Monster Zone. I also noticed the Chariot card was cut off along the top in the first frame it’s in, so I made a proxy to fill in the gap there.
As Saiou orders The Chariot to attack Dark Tyranno, we have a shot that zooms up to his face, but we see that 99% [okay, maybe 80%, but shhh pun] of Saiou’s Disk is missing from the shot--for some reason, only the orb part in the middle was drawn in--I explained here how I fixed this, but tl;dr I borrowed Prince Orgene/Ojin’s Disk in a shot from his duel against Saiou in 84 and spliced the two halves into place, adapting it accordingly, then adding the fix to Vegas and moving it down as the shot panned up to Saiou until it’s out of view. In this same shot, we also have a split-screen where The Chariot and Dark Tyranno slide in so we see their ATK, but The Chariot’s side starts a frame earlier; I fixed this by having Dark Tyranno’s start a frame earlier, moving its side into place on the frame’s edge proportional to The Chariot’s.
This is where the error in #1 comes in during the episode proper, fixed as noted there.
After Saiou activates Ace of Wand, as he taunts Kenzan about turning his Wheel of Fortune, their split-screen splits, but Saiou’s side (on the left) takes a frame longer to fully split off vs Kenzan’s. I fixed this by having the last frame of his split be onscreen with the last frame of Kenzan’s; that way, the next frame, both are gone.
As Judai and Shou worry that Saiou’s about to make Kenzan join his cult the Society of Light, there are a few frames where Shou’s mouth suddenly vanishes as his face changes. Fixed by holding onto his mouth from the previous frame as his face changes until he opens it to speak again.
Fixes/Edits/Notes! (74)
During Chronos and Napoleon’s tense negotiations over the field trip destination, as Manjoume tells them that Saiou’s already foreseen the location, we hear Saiou come in and everyone turns to make a path for him--except Manjoume, who seems to have a Stand suddenly as an animation error causes there to be two of him. (There was a similar error in 72 with X.) This lasts for a quick frame before Manjoume’s shown taking the intended step back. I fixed this by just cutting out this error frame and duplicating the frame after.
As Princess Rose summons her T.A.D.P.O.L.E. to start the duel, there’s a quick frame where it’s a black rectangle on her Disk. Fixed in Vegas by masking the card in from the next frame above the black rectangle.
After Shou and Kenzan feel chills from Rose over Kenzan’s “That ain’t beautiful” line, as Misawa wonders what she’s up to with a zero-DEF Monster, we zoom back into the duel arena, where we see that Rose’s T.A.D.P.O.L.E. card is reversed on the field; the lighter end where its effect text is should be facing the Whites in the stands per its placement on Rose’s Disk, as we see later when Air Hummingbird Hovering Pecks it. Fixed in AfterEffects by first applying a proxy facing correctly under the T.A.D.P.O.L.E. in one zoomed-in frame masking it above the card again, then taking that fixed frame into Vegas where I redid the slow zoom-in for the 115 or so frames before it stops and Judai draws for his turn.
After Rose uses Fusion Undone to de-fuse Three-Death Frog back into her three Death Frogs, she has them take out “evil sorcerer” Judai, but the Death Frog in her second Monster Zone is missing (seen there in the next shot as she declares her attack); fixed in AfterEffects by applying a proxy in one frame, then taking the fixed frame into Vegas where I moved it as she moved. In this same shot, there’s also an error once we close-up on Rose’s face, where the lighter skin coloring on her neck is missing--so we see the whooshing background behind her there instead; fixed this one by just filling it in in Photoshop.
After Manjoume’s moment of doubt with Rose’s Spirit-seeing ability, Rose assesses the situation and resolves to use all her Death Frogs; as she declares her sacrificing them, we see that her Disk is missing the bright red orb in the middle that should be there since her Disk is on. To fix this, I first grabbed a shot of it from when her and Judai’s Disks activated to start the duel, then spliced out the orb in Photoshop, rotating/resizing it into place in one of the frames just before it’s obscured by the Death Frog in the middle. Once I did that, I took it into Vegas, where I redid the slow zoom-out for the shot, masking the middle Death Frog’s head over it as it covers it and making my edit fade out as it lights up for the sacrifice once it’s fully obscured.
As Judai activates Oversoul, we zoom out a bit to see his Disk and two things happen over a few frames: first, his Burstlady card’s in his second Monster Zone (it should be in his third, as we see his second Zone blank as he brings back Clayman after this, and in #7 below as Skyscraper activates we see it in Zone 3), then Featherman in his fourth Monster Zone suddenly becomes a black rectangle for the rest of the shot. I fixed the first thing by blanking Zone 2 and moving Burstlady to Zone 3 in the fixed second shot, where I redid the slow zoom-out on Judai and his Disk using the corrected frame to keep Featherman in place.
Corollary to this, I noticed as I was typing this post that I missed this error on Judai as he starts to swing his arm to activate Oversoul (similar to the earlier Manjoume one)--I would try to fix it, and I think I could if I masked away the duplicate part of his jacket and hair/ear and put part of the whooshing behind him there, but it’s hard to really make out the edge of Judai’s hair after moving from the previous frame the duplicate part comes from (as well as where the highlights on top should now end on the right), so I don’t want to risk it looking bad. And unlike the Manjoume error, Judai stays like this for three frames instead of fixing himself in the next frame before moving again, so I can’t just cut this one frame out and duplicate a fixed one. Welp.
After Judai activates Skyscraper, as everything shakes while it takes shape, Judai stands behind his Heroes, but on his Disk, we can see that, for some reason, Bubbleman is in Monster Zone 2 where Clayman should be (as we see while Judai activates Feather Shot). Fixed in AfterEffects by applying a Clayman proxy, then moving it around as needed while everything shakes.
For the hardsub’s preview for 75, as I covered here, I’m translating the guidebooks Shou and Kenzan have onscreen, so the clip from the episode proper as they hold them while seeing Sugoroku has the translated guidebook cover in place in the preview here.
TRANSLATION NOTES
As Shou notes that Saiou et al sure are making Judai wait, Kenzan mentions that it’s the same thing “Musashi pulled at Ganryu Island.” Per Wikipedia, “[Musashi’s father Shinmen] Munisai had moved to northern Kyūshū and became Tadaoki's teacher, leading to the possibility that Munisai introduced Musashi to Sasaki Kojirō ... (known for wielding an oversized nodachi (Japanese greatsword) ... for a swift two-stroke sword technique called tsubame gaeshi, and he bore the nickname "The Demon of the Western Provinces"). Somehow, a duel was proposed between the two ... scheduled for April 13, 1612 ... and the departure by boat for the duel was arranged for the Hour of the Dragon in the early morning (approximately 8:00 AM) to the island of Ganryūjima, a small isle between Honshū and Kyūshū. Kojirō arrived at the appointed time, but was then left to wait for hours; Musashi had overslept. Kojirō sent out servants to retrieve Musashi, who ate a full breakfast, taking his time.” (The whole bit’s interesting to read, lol. Also, fun fact: on top of tsubame gaeshi being the Japanese name for Pokémon’s “Aerial Ace” attack, we also have Musashi and Kojirou (Jessie and James) from the anime’s namesakes here!)
I remember hearing that the “Treeborn Frog! Living Toad! Death Frog” episode title’s styling is a reference to... some anime airing around 2006 alongside this episode, but I can’t remember what it was, lol. But the title’s use of 黄泉ガエル, イキカエル, and デスガエル (yomigaeru, ikikaeru, and desugaeru, respectively) are not only references to Rose’s Treeborn Frog, Living Toad, and Death Frog cards, but also makes it a nod to the cycle of life--”being reborn” (if reincarnation-inclined), “living,” and “death.”
For card names, I opted to use “Treeborn Frog” over “Reborn Frog” as I did initially as the TCG used that to adapt the “yomi-reborn” pun originally there. I opted for using “T.A.D.P.O.L.E.” over just “Tadpole” as I did originally as it was the TCG’s attempt to carry over the pun going on with its Japanese name, where 悪魂邪苦止 as a word (otamajakushi) would translate to Tadpole, but the kanji each mean something different. Also opted for “Amphibian Angel - Froghael” over “Mi Frog” after a look at Yugipedia to get the angel!Michael pun across better, and “Life Frog” from my original take became “Living Toad” since its having カエル and not ガエル (kaeru/gaeru) in its Japanese name イキカエル (ikikaeru, a pun on 生き返る/ikikaeru, “resurrection/coming back to life”) means it’s not a Frog/gaeru, but part of the supporting Toad archetype. Lastly, “Frog Tri-Death” from my original subs became “Three-Death Frog” to work better as a name.
loving ur comics so much all the time wow!!! ur art is very expressive and nice colors and story telling... i like ur panelling a lot too so i was wondering if u have some tips or a thought process when u panel :D
ahh thank you so much!!! seriously it means a lot <3
as far as tips go, let me preface this by saying i am a serious comic amateur. like, not in a self deprecating way, i've just really only started making comics in the last few months. that botw comic is the first one i've ever made. to give myself a little credit, I do have a background in storyboarding and graphic design, which are both skills that help me make comics, but like, still. I'm just sort of fumbling my way through. All that to say I'm not sure how qualified I am to give advice to others about it. but under the cut is a bit about my thought process!
the main thing I focus on when I'm paneling, besides making sure everything fits on the page and aids the story compositionally, is building moments of impact. you can only have so many panels on a page so you have to use them to communicate the most important things. I REALLY like drawing expressions and it shows in the way I panel things lol.
so like here, I take two panels to show Mask's reaction because I want to build up his expression and body language slowly gathering more tension until he explodes in the last panel. that panel breaks away from the grid of the other to emphasize it.
or, in this page, I build tension by deliberately hiding War's face past the first panel, until the last page where you finally see his face and realize he's not actually hurt but annoyed and exasperated. He cares about Mask, but he's also kind of trying to play him for information. it recontextualizes the second page. For another note, size of the panel generally denotes time or importance- the moment Mask shoves War off is small because it happens in a flash, while the middle panel of the second page is wider to communicate Mask walking while talking.
for the botw comic, I deliberately have almost everything facing link's face in the last panel. It's like Zelda and the panel of the eye are looking directly at the horrible scene below
But all the text forces you to look the other direction. So it's supposed to build tension by feeling like. what are they looking at? what's so terrible? and then you finally get to it and the angle of of the sword neatly brings you from Link's face to the last textbox, and then to the second page. this comic worked beautifully in a vertical format mostly by accident lol.
Other considerations I make are, how does panel spacing influence mood? For the eyepatch comic, everything is on a pretty orderly grid with even gutters because it's a straightforward conversation. But for comics like these
it's not as clear-cut. For the Hyrule comic, I wanted it to feel like uneasy snapshots, so they're really spaced out, and a closeup of Hyrule's eyes breaks the center alignment. For the comic with First and Time, I wanted it to have this kind of airy feeling, so the panels all have a lot of room to breathe from one another, especially the last panel. There's a feeling of unresolved tension.
for some general tips: try not to overcrowd pages. this is a lesson I've been learning recently lol. 5 is a good number of panels for a single page, 6 or 7 if you can swing it. There are of course exceptions, so don't force it, but you wanna avoid clutter unless it's deliberate. I recently started doing layouts by just making one big rectangle and then cutting panels out of it, because it helps me visualize better and clip studio has tools that make it easy.
Hope some of that is helpful, and thanks for giving me an excuse to ramble! once again pls take everything i say with a grain of salt lol
Hi!!
Villain’s lover finding out that villain is a villain?
You did something like this before and I really liked it lol
<3
Hiya! I definitely don’t remember doing something like this (maybe the love potion/spell story?), but I’d be happy to write this haha.
******
Pacing in the kitchen, Lover bit her nails until her teeth met skin. A few fingertips bled and even then, she continued to chow down on the dead skin surrounding her short nails. She didn’t know what else to do with her hands; they were shaking, and they wouldn’t stop.
The news still played in the background. Lover considered time and time again to turn it off, but she couldn’t because moving on would be easier if she turned it off. This wasn’t something to be ignored. Not at all. But at the same time, when she deliberately thought of it, she nearly ripped her hair out.
Where was she supposed to go? She couldn’t just up and leave, could she? That was a mean thing to do and her- her husband was…Lover looked at the tv again. The same image was on the screen- blurred from a clip of action, but no less recognizable. The masked villain- now unmasked for the first time ever- was, without a doubt, Lover’s significant other. What would he do to her if she left?
But she was running out of time. She didn’t know that for sure, but if she were a villain- or hero, or anyone who needed to hide her identity- and her face was realized, she would haul ass back home, or- or anywhere where she wouldn’t be known. So, maybe Villain wouldn’t come home at all. Maybe her internal conflict was pointless for this very time being, but…if he did come home and she wasn’t gone, she’d be trapped. And if he did come home and she was gone, she’d be likely hunted. Right? Isn’t that what happened in the movies? Or books? Or…well, Lover hadn’t really seen this scenario if she was honest.
Lover liked to watch the ditzy princess movies. She even had a magazine subscription to “Royals Suggest…”, a collection of fashion statement clothing worn by royalty around the world, all too expensive for Lover to ever buy, but she enjoyed looking. This. This is what Lover knew; a bunch of too-expensive designer clothing brand names. She didn’t know what to do when her husband was a madman who destroyed cities just to listen to their screams. Or what to do when-
A door clicked open and Lover’s eyes went wide. She let her bloodied fingers drop to her sides, then thought better of it and hid them behind her back. Maybe she should have grabbed a knife.
Listening intently now, Lover heard her partner’s footsteps tread through the house. He was in the living room, she could tell, and she suddenly felt very sorry for herself for having not turned the television off earlier. She squeezed her eyes shut and sunk to the cold, tiled floor quietly. Behind the island counter, Lover hoped she wouldn’t be found. Villain would have no reason to come into the kitchen- not yet at least. He always took his bag- that’s where his suit and mask must have been all along, dammit- to their bedroom after greeting Lover.
What if he didn’t go to his bedroom before trying to find Lover? She’d be found easily. Their house wasn’t enormous- not necessarily small, but Villain wouldn’t have to wander around forever. What was she even planning on doing, though? Lover’s mind was so panicked at this point that she only wanted to hide forever.
Wouldn’t that be a trip- for her to hide in her own house forever without Villain knowing and chasing her around city to city? Lover sighed, shaking her head. If she did that- or if she left at all, Villain would destroy even more just to find her. Then it wouldn’t be Villain’s fault, it would be hers. A villain’s accomplice, even if she hadn’t meant for him to respond that way.
So, what did she do, then? Self-sacrifice? Live with Villain, despite knowing who and what he was- what he was. What he is. He’s capable of so much- just to preserve everyone else? Lover couldn’t be with this man, but she couldn’t let anyone be harmed because she decided to run away.
“Lover? What are you doing on the floor? And with the lights off?”
Lover gasped, putting a hand to her even-more-rapidly beating heart. She sighed, setting herself into a calmer mindset- if that was even possible. “I- my head was hurting.” A loud bang resonated from the television- from the news, where they were still talking about Villain, but she pretended she wasn’t listening. “Actually, will you…turn the tv off? I was going to when I went back to the living room, but” -she shrugged on the floor- “I didn’t exactly make it back. It was playing-”
“Sh, sh, sh. You’ll give yourself a bigger headache if you don’t stop talking.” Villain chuckled, and began walking to the living room, but not before he bent down and planted a kiss on Lover’s forehead.
He didn’t buy it. There was no way he bought her act.
Wincing as she heard Villain hum in the living room, she watched as he passed back through the kitchen into the hall which led to their room. Lover picked herself back up off the floor and opened the fridge, pulling out a bag of whole carrots. Next, she grabbed a cutting board and a knife. She began chopping.
When Villain walked back in, she asked, “How was work today?” Lover asked this every day, but this was the first time she ever swallowed after asking. Chop, chop, chop, chop.
“It was an exhausting day, but- let me do this for you. You have a headache. I don’t want you to chop your fingers off by accident.”
“No, it’s fine. I got it.” Chop, chop, ch-
He grabbed her wrist lightly then plucked the knife from her hands. Villain nodded forward, telling her to sit on one of the barstools opposite of him. Lover felt she had no choice; she did as she suggested, even if it hadn’t been in a villainous way.
“Work was tiring. Some idiot decided to hack one of our major programs. Wasn’t as secure as we thought, so tonight I’ll have to do some repairs, and tomorrow…I’ll just have to trace the hack back to the original device and shut it down, so it doesn’t happen again.”
What he meant, Lover thought, was this; Hero managed to steal the mask off my face today in front of a hundred reporters and now everyone knows who I am, so tonight I’m going to fix my mask- just to poke the bear- and I’m going to find Hero so I can kill them. She wanted the knife back.
“How long has your head been hurting?” The question was so innocent, but Lover knew- God, she just knew what he was getting at. The news had been on when he came home. He knew she saw and now he was playing with her.
Lover blinked, and then blinked again. Lie, she thought to herself, but she couldn’t think of a number. “I don’t know.”
“That bad, huh?”
She nodded slightly as she played with her fingers beneath the table. Her fingertips were so incredibly raw from her chewing at them in all her nervousness, but touching the sensitive spots was the only thing keeping her together. The tiny tinges of pain were grounding her.
“Did they report about the hack on the news?”
Her chest tightened. “I- I don’t know.” A sharp inhale and a thumb gesturing to the blank television. “I was watching Flintstones when I got the headache. I- uh- I stopped paying attention.” Lover looked down at her fingers before looking up again. “Do you remember the dino’s name from the show?”
Still chopping the vegetables, Villain said, “I don’t.” Chop. Chop. “I thought Flintstones played on a different channel? Weird, that it came on before the news.”
“Guess it was a special.”
Villain smiled at Lover and laid the knife down, bending so that both of his elbows touched the table. “I wonder if this happened to Hero when I ripped their mask off a month ago.”
Lover tried to control her reaction- she did. Despite her effort, her eyes widened, and she remembered to squint instead. “What do you mean?” A false and singular laugh. “Did you have a silly dream last night?” She gave a smile, a loving one, a teasing one.
Continuing like Lover hadn’t spoken at all, he said, “I’m sure there were many hugs involved. Maybe even kissing. Everyone loves a hero, right?”
“Whoever fights him clearly doesn’t,” Lover tried. Maybe if she referred to the situation from a third person perspective then he would drop it. She was an observer of the media, and she had a headache when it was on today. That was all.
“Maybe I should be happy you’re pretending not to know, but then that would just be ignorant, wouldn’t it be?”
“Villain, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Are…Are you feeling okay? Maybe you should take a nap.” She didn’t want to, but Lover reached across the island counter and intertwined her fingers with Villain’s as they were lain on the table. “You said it was a rough day at work. A nap is always a nice stress reliever.”
He hummed in return, just like he did when he turned the tv off. Lover had thought asking him to do that was such a brilliant idea- thought it proved she was paying no attention to it. “You had a headache you couldn’t even stand from, but the moment I walked away from you, you found an excuse to start chopping carrots.” His fingers flexed- barely- as he said the word ‘chopping’. If anyone had been watching the interaction, they wouldn’t have even noticed the way his grip became tighter.
Lover told him, “It was no excuse. I always make dinner when you come home- even through a headache.” She smiled at him again. How long could she keep this up? How long until he accepted she was telling the truth?
“Come here. I’m going to show you something.”
“But the carr-”
“The carrots will be fine.”
Villain pulled her along through the kitchen and the hall until they walked into their bedroom. Lover could feel her heart throbbing against her chest. She already knew what he was doing. He was making it so that she couldn’t deny what she already knew anymore; Villain was a villain.
“You can sit on the bed while I grab it.”
There was no way out of this. Maybe she should have insisted she stayed in the kitchen while he grabbed his bag, but he wouldn’t have fallen for that. He would have known what she was up to, even if she didn’t.
Lover remained in the doorway of their bedroom, feeling safer there than in the bedroom where there was no hall to run down as an escape. “If I sit on the bed, I might fall asleep in it,” she said to Villain with a tiny chuckle.
“Naps are always a nice stress reliever.” She didn’t like how he threw her own words back at her.
Maybe she should just admit what she knew. Maybe if she did, this wouldn’t be so prolonged and drawn out. If she admitted it, she could stop wondering what he would do to her.
With a deep breath, she began, “I-” but what to say? Lover nearly told him she wanted this relationship they had to be normal, that she just wanted to go back to being a regular, human, husband and wife. This wasn’t what she wanted, though. She wanted to be rid of him. “I saw the news, if that’s what you want to hear.” Her head ducked down as Villain dropped the bag and walked towards her in the doorway.
His hand touched beneath her chin and she sucked in a broken breath. Villain tilted her head up gently. “It wasn’t so hard to admit, was it? Tell me why you were so scared to tell me.”
Shaking her head and squeezing her eyes shut, she reached up towards the hand on her chin, wanting to push it away. Villain caught her wrist with his free hand. She didn’t use her own free hand to try again. His touch was gentle, but Lover knew what it- what he- was capable of. He could crush her. Easily.
“Why couldn’t you admit it?”
“Don’t,” She gasped because of her panicked lungs. “Don’t make me say. You know the answer.” Because she was scared. Because everything was up in the air, now, unpredictable. He was unpredictable. What if he tried to kill her?
Villain’s head tilted and he stared into his lover’s eyes. “You aren’t the only one who knows. You aren’t the only one to watch the news. It would be foolish of me to act against you because then I’d have to do the same to everyone else, too. Exhausting.” His hand left Lover’s chin and went to her hair. He pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and sighed. “Not to mention, I do love you. You know that, right?”
She shook her head again. “You can’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because- because you- you’re…” He was a monster, but she couldn’t say that, not so blatantly.
Taking a deep breath, Villain smirked- not deviously, but intriguingly. “I haven’t the opportunity to use this yet.”
“W-what?” Lover’s breaths picked up speed, and she didn’t feel as terrified as she used her free hand to push Villain away. “Use what?” What else could he do? On television, he could fly, and he was strong, but that- that was it! There was nothing else. “Stay away. Stay away from me, Villain. Please.” She kept her head at a downward angle, not wanting to face him- never wanting to face him ever again.
Villain was perfectly calm as he took a step towards her, forcing her back into the wall of the hall. She had no room to run. “Look at me, Lover. Just look at me, okay?”
“No. No, why?” Her hands were pressed, fingers flayed against the wall behind her.
“Because,” he said, and placed a hand on her cheek. She flinched, but what he said next made her stupidly look up. “I want you to see how much I love you. Eyes are windows to the soul, aren’t they? Just look at me, the way you did the day of our wedding.”
‘Eyes are windows to the soul.’
Yes, they certainly were.
Lover blinked, her eyes falling to Villain’s nose- a button nose, one that made her smile. She bopped it with a finger as she always did. “You’re home,” she said to Villain. “How was work?”
