The Most Common Monsoon-Hair and Skin Problems how to Tackle Them
Monsoon might be the best weather to enjoy a cup of hot coffee on your bed. The Dewey leaves and trees are a sight to behold every morning. However, this season comes with its own packages of problems and worries. It is the season of water-born diseases.
Monsoon or rainy season is when our hair and skin are at their sensitive best. It is necessary to protect them from any severe infections or diseases. Taking minimal care and on time, will help prevent these skin and hair problems in the long run. In this article, we will be discussing some of the most common hair and diseases during monsoons and ways to tackle them.
Time for some skincare!!!
Our skin is the protective layer that protects our inner organs from outside infections. It is the first layer of contact to our body from the outside world. It holds our internal organs, blood vessels and bones intact to ensure a properly working body. During any injury or infection, it is the first layer that gets affected and damaged. Therefore it is necessary to protect and nourish this layer for a better body functioning.
Infection Skin- Folliculitis Cause -occurs when hair follicles become infected with bacteria Symptoms- marked by itchy, white, pus-filled bumps Skin care- topical antibiotic creams or oral antibiotics based on the type of infection
Infection Skin – Athlete’s Foot Cause -a fungal infection that usually begins between the toes due to a sweaty foot. Symptoms- scaly rash that usually causes itching, stinging and burning Skin care- OTC medications are effective in clearing up the infection.
Infection Skin – Ringworm Cause – a contagious fungal infection caused by mold-like parasites that live on the cells in the outer layer of your skin. Symptoms- itchy, scaly areas Skin care- antifungal cream, lotion, or powder may work
Infection Skin – Eczema Cause – includes various reasons, seasonal changes being a primary one. Symptoms- itchy, red, and dry skin caused by inflammation Skin care-Prevent dry skin. Take lukewarm water and always use moisturizer.
Infection – Scabies Cause -skin infestation caused by a mite Symptoms- a rash and intense itching that gets worse at night. Skin care- getting rid of the infestation with prescription ointments, creams, and lotions that can be applied directly to the skin
Great skin is simply not just DNA. Your daily habits, have a big impact on what you see in the mirror. Apart from protecting from the infections, it is necessary to care for your skin on a daily basis. This ensures you to have clear, healthy and glowing skin. Especially during monsoon, when the skin is hypersensitive and prone to a lot of risks. Few home care daily remedies might just do the trick.

Monsoon is the season that sanctions us the responsibility of intense care for our hair. But, you can take care of your hair by doing some simple and small everyday things, which we otherwise ignore.
Here is a list of common hair problems during monsoon and how to overcome them.
Problem- Frizzy hair Cause – caused due to lack of moisture to the hair. Hair care- oil massage your hair frequently. Take bath in lukewarm water.
Problem- Hairfall Cause – lack of proper nutrients, topical infections. Hair care- regular oil therapy, healthy food, and proper combing habits.
Problem- Dandruff and itchy scalp, etc Cause -infections, dry scalp and weather conditions. Hair care- regular oiling, anti-dandruff shampoo and application of lemon to the scalp.
Every single one of us dreams about lush bouncy and beautiful hair. Achieving this is easier said than done. Our hair is most commonly affected by our surroundings and the contamination in them. This leads to the hair becoming affected and we eventually experience hair fall. Taking care of your hair is not an impossible task if done on a daily basis. Inculcating certain practices ensures your hair is healthy and beautiful in the long run.
Here is a list of common practices that you can follow as a part of your daily routine to get beautiful long locks –
1- Ensure your hair is dry
You may have the urge to get your hair wet in a drizzle. But rainwater is dirty and acidic, which is really bad for your hair. So, keep your hair dry
2- Twice a week is clean time
If your hair gets drenched in rain have a proper shower to remove any residue on your scalp left behind by rainwater. Generally, shower twice a week to ensure a clean and infection-free scalp.
3- Oil Massage
Nothing’s as good for your hair during the monsoon as a good old hair oil massage. It naturally boosts the moisture in your hair which revitalizes dry strands. Use ayurvedic oils for best results of hair growth
4- Hold off on tying
By tying up your hair in the monsoon you’re inviting rainwater to hibernate in your hair, which in turn will make it frizzier and limper.
5- Waterproof is good
The best way to protect your hair in the rains is to wear a waterproof jacket or hoodie.
6- Pick the right comb
Use a wide-toothed comb after washing and do not comb your hair when it is excessively wet. It will result in breakage as your strands are the weakest when they are wet. Not only does it help in detangling your tresses but it also serves as a good conditioning comb.
7- Eat right
In order to strengthen your hair follicles, you must eat foods that are rich in protein, iron and omega 3 fatty acids like mackerel, salmon, walnuts, spinach, and dahi.
8- Go short
By cutting your hair short you’re reducing the hassle of maintaining it. Trimming regularly also ensures your loose split ends and encourages the growth of healthy hair.
9- Stay Hydrated
Drink lots of water, it not only hydrates your body and skin but it does wonders to your hair too.
10- Explore natural alternatives
Use homemade packs to nourish your hair. This ensures your hair and hair follicle is strong naturally without any chemical side effects.
11- Carry an umbrella
Umbrella or a raincoat is a must at all times. And in case you forget to carry one, cover your hair with a stole or a scarf and avoid exposing your hair to the rain or humidity of the weather.
12- Exercise daily
Increases blood circulation to the scalp allowing it to fight any infections and keeps it healthy and beautiful.
13- Sleep well
This prevents hair fall caused due to unhealthy lifestyles.
Conclusion
Skin and hair are the most vital parts of the body. They are also the first line in our bodies. Therefore, they are the first ones to be affected in case of any infections. Thus it is necessary to take proper care of them especially during monsoon to obtain healthy and beautiful hair and skin.
