You were going to be moving into his place soon, remants of clothing and accessories scattered across the room. He took a deat at the edge of your bed, glancing at the box before him. Without a second thought he grabbed it, pulling it towards the bed.

He opened the box, the rough cardboard scraping against his skin. The box looked aged and worn, seeming to be pretty used. Lifting each of the flaps he peeked inside. He knew it wasn’t right, he shouldn’t be invading your personal space but it called to him, for some odd reason or another.

At first glance it look like just some old pile of clothes, some neatly folded while others lay in disheveled heaps. There were a few toys, scattered here and there, and what looked like to be bottles. He didn’t know what to think as he reached inside, grabbing out an article of clothing before letting unfurl to its full length before him. It was a tiny thing, no larger than a foot he assumed. The fabric was soft and fuzzy, the design sweet and simple adorned with little bears that decorated every corner. He picked up another one, this time a little bigger with the word ‘princess’ labled on it, then another, and another, and once more. ‘Mommy’s girl’, he stilled, all he did was stare at it, such a small little thing. It hung limply in his hands, he didn’t notice when his palms started clam up or his fingertips tremble, or even the soft creek of the door opening beside him.

“Loki?” Your voice rang out, sweet and gentle, breaking the silence. Loki longed to hear you speak whenever he could, but he didn’t look up, even as he saw you examining him in the corner of his eyes.

With a small gasp you rushed over, snatching the onesie out of his arm’s before tossing it back in the box.

“I’m sorry,” your voice small and distant, “I was supposed to donate those.”

Your hands fidgeted with the hem of your shirt, as you always did when you were nervous.

“I-.”

“Why do you have them?” He was surprised at the sound of his own voice leaving his lips, he hadn’t wished to sound so rough. He knew how timid you could be, especially after everything you’ve been through.

Your voice trembled as you spoke, “I collected them, but,” you hesitated, “but I don’t anymore.”

He nodded, taking in your features. Your brows furrowed and your eyes shone with unshed tears.

“Do you want children?” You had discussed it before, both agreeing that you hadn’t needed them, content with just the two of you.

“I… I do- or well I did, but after you I really don’t need anything else… really.” You exclaimed, sitting at the side of the bed him. You took it his hand in yours, your voice choking up the words you were about to say. “Please… um please don’t leave.”

At first, he wanted to. And for a moment, he thought he was going to do just that. Why would he be with someone, who so obviously wanted something so much that he just couldn’t give, but one glance at your face stole it all away. The way your body shook, and your beautiful eyes poured silent tears, and your voice that pleaded for him stay. God you were gorgeous.

“I won’t.”

“Promise?”

As much as Loki knew the right thing to do was to leave, and let you be with someone that could give you everything you’d ever deserve and want. He couldn’t, he was a selfish god and that would never change. Therefore, he let himself dream. To invision a perfect future with you, where you were both together, settled in a home. Maybe a ring on his left hand, and yours with one too. Maybe he could dream about midnight dances and evening talks. Perhaps, if he thought just a little longer, he could hear the pitter-patter of little feet running around the house, filled with sounds of laughter and joy, and the overwhelming sensation happiness and love that swelled within him.

“Promise,” he said. You nodded meekly. His heart ached at the sight. He pulled you into him, your face nestling in the side of his neck releasing a quiet sob.

“I love you, Loki,” you murmured.

“I love you too,” he replied, kissing the top of your head. He didn’t tell you just yet what he felt. The way you opened him just a little more, when he imagined you with a sweet little bundle in your arms, and the happiest look he’d ever see splayed across your face. He wasn’t ready, not for awhile. He didn’t know if he would ever be, but just the thought of you, with a baby that was his chipped away at the cage around his heart just a little too deep.

I had to admit that spending my New Year's in Asgard felt slightly unreal. There were no countdowns, no applause, and no clinking glasses, unlike back home on Midgard. Time seemed odd here, elongated like the stars above us. Perhaps in the palace halls, I had anticipated a peaceful evening when I arrived in Asgard, but Loki had assured me of a surprise. And if I had discovered anything about him, it was that he was always... remarkable in his surprises.

With the light of candles and torches bouncing off the golden ceilings, we strolled through the palace's great corridors. Through the open windows, the aroma of the far-off ocean flooded the crisp, cool air. Loki's mischievous grin crept across his mouth as he guided me through the corridors, his hand brushing mine as if to reassure me that this was just for us—no grand gatherings, no pomp or ceremony.

“I think you'll like this,” he murmured, his voice low and rich with the promise of something thrilling.

We reached a balcony that overlooked the sprawling city of Asgard, the lights from the streets twinkling like stars on the ground. Loki paused, turning to face me. His eyes sparkled with a kind of mischief I had come to adore.

“New Year's isn’t exactly a thing here, is it?” he asked, his voice teasing but with an underlying warmth.

“No, not really,” I replied, glancing at the sky. It was clear, the stars gleaming above us, as though they were watching over the realm. He chuckled, and before I could ask what he meant, his hands raised toward the heavens.

I watched, mesmerized, as he muttered something under his breath. In an instant, his hands began to glow with an ethereal green light, crackling with power. The air around us seemed to hum, and I couldn’t help but gasp as small sparks of light danced between his fingers.

With a snap of his fingers, the first firework exploded into the sky—a brilliant shower of colors that painted the night. Reds, blues, greens, and golds burst into the air, twirling and shimmering like they were alive. I looked at Loki, my eyes wide in surprise, but he only grinned, the faintest glimmer of pride in his gaze.

"Happy New Year, my darling," he said softly, his voice a smooth whisper against the wind.

I stepped closer to him, my heart beating a little faster, not just from the stunning display of colors but from the warmth of his presence. He had always been full of surprises, but this… this was something beyond what I could have ever expected. His magic, his power—he was using it to create something beautiful for me, for us. The fireworks continued, each one more dazzling than the last. The night was alive with bursts of color, filling the sky with wonder. I could hear the soft sounds of the fireworks explosions echoing in the distance, but all I could focus on was Loki, standing beside me, his presence overwhelming in the best way possible.

He turned to me, his eyes softening, and before I could say anything, his lips found mine. The kiss was gentle at first, slow and tender, but as the fireworks bloomed above us, our kiss deepened. The world felt like it was folding in on itself—the only thing real in that moment was him, and the way his lips moved against mine, the way his hand cupped my face as if he never wanted this moment to end. When we finally pulled away, breathless, the sky was filled with the last of the fireworks—multicolored trails of light and sparkles curling into the blackness of the night, as if the stars themselves were bowing in homage to the magic of the moment.

"Do you like it?" Loki asked, his voice soft, almost shy now. I smiled, my fingers tracing the outline of his jaw, my heart still racing. "It's perfect," I whispered. "Thank you, Loki."

He chuckled, his usual mischief returning as he leaned in to kiss me again, his arms wrapping around me. As the final firework lit the sky, we stood there together, wrapped in each other's embrace, watching the colorful lights paint the night above us.

"You remember Yanara, right? Well, you would never believe what she told me yesterday."

Loki nods her head and hums along to your words, listening intently to your rambles from behind you. Her fingers card through your hair, carefully braiding and weaving it with the pretty wildflowers you picked for her this morning. 

"Her best friend is totally in love with her boyfriend- we knew that already since, like, forever- but now Yanara thinks he's been seeing her in secret behind her back!"

You hear your girlfriend scoff from behind you, and the bed bounces lightly as you adjust yourself to look at her through the mirror on your vanity. "I mean, I just feel so bad for her! I totally thought he was going to propose." You frown in disappointment.

Loki meets your eyes in the glass, fingers never stopping their intricate work. "I warned her from the beginning." She states with a self-satisfied smile curling the corners of her lips at her strong intuition being correct once again. 

Your shoulders deflate as you let out a heavy sigh, picking at the green nail polish decorating your fingertips, "I can't imagine how awful she must feel." You think on it for a moment, eyes suddenly finding Loki's in the mirror again as you giggle. You tease, "I hope you know that I would make your life a living hell if you ever did something like that to me."

The words have barely leave your mouth when you feel a cold hand grabbing your jaw and tipping your head back to meet your girlfriend's serious expression. "Never compare me to that idiot." she says, offended, and all you can think is how pretty she looks even upside down. "I would never do such a disgusting thing to you. What kind of person do you take me for?"

You laugh a little at that, but quickly stifle it when she glares down at you.

"I'm yours." You take in her appearance: brows furrowed in concern, green eyes glowing from the light of the flickering candles on your nightstand, strands of her long, dark hair falling in front of her sculpted face and tickling yours, and pretty lips coated in a glittery, shiny, thick black lip-gloss. She's absolutely mesmerizing. So entrancing, in fact, that you have to remind yourself to breathe. 

"Say it. Tell me I'm yours." she softly demands, concern laced in her tone at your silence.

Instead, you reach your hands up to pull her face closer, pressing your lips against hers. The sticky lip-gloss tastes sweet like honey and makes you feel light-headed. Her slender fingers loosen their grip on your jaw as she melts into you, other hand coming up to cup your cheek, braiding long forgotten. As you reluctantly push her away for air, you brush the hair from her face to see her eyes better. Oh, how you love her. 

"You're mine."

"Something funny in the fridge?" Tony asks from the island, looking up from his tablet.

You turn to him and open the bottle. "No, I was just laughing about something that could possibly get me in a lot of trouble with Loki," you barely explain.

"I have no idea what that means," Steve says as he and Bucky join the conversation.

You take a sip of water and set the bottle on the island. "I was tired of being the one who did our laundry all the time so I told Loki he needed to help me with it today," you start to tell them.

"Still not seeing the funny," Tony says sarcastically.

"I'm getting there," you wave away his comment and he chuckles. "So anyway, I told him to help and he did... an okay job of it. I mean, the dryer and him got in a bit of a fight but we finally got it done," you continue.

"Did he break the dryer cause I've gotta do like four loads of laundry tonight?" Bucky asks concerned as he pulls out the stool next to Steve.

"How could you possibly have to do four loads of laundry?" Tony turns towards him. "You own one hoodie and three henleys at most," he adds.

"Can we get back to my problem?" you pull their attention back to yourself. "I might not have much time left," you joke but you aren't actually sure how long until Loki comes looking for you.

"What did you do to him?" Steve asks, sounding concerned for your safety. Loki would never hurt you of course, he loved you too much, but when you annoyed him you always found it hard to walk the next day.

"Well, he put all the laundry away using his magic but I told him that was cheating. He said it wasn't and we went back and forth for a bit until I made him a bet," you smile. Loki could never resist a wager, especially since he always assumed he would win, and he usually did. "I bet him... something," you suddenly realize you don't necessarily want the guys to know the dirty things you promised Loki and they all look away awkwardly for a moment as if they understood that.

"Right, whatever... so the bet was for him to make the bed himself, without his magic," you tell them.

"Look, I still don't like him very much but, give him a little credit. I think he's smart enough to figure it out," Bucky says.

"Yeah, that doesn't really seem like a bet you're going to win, Y/N," Steve agrees.

"Well... I might not have except for one teeny tiny little bitty detail," you assure them.

"Which is?" Tony asks with a mixture of curiosity and agitation that the story is taking so long.

"I switched the sheet set," you say, they all stare at you confused and you sigh. "I gave him a full size set... and we have a queen bed. There's not a chance in hell he's going to be able to get the fitted sheet on and if he does manage it, I'll know he used his magic and still win," you smile broadly, proud of yourself for tricking the trickster God.

"Well that's a dangerous game to play," Steve says and before you can respond you hear Loki coming down the hall.

"Y/N," he says when he enters the kitchen. You swallow as your mouth goes dry, he does not look happy. "You cheated," he says without question.

"No, I was just..." you try to explain but he walks towards you, keeping his eyes locked on yours.

"You... cheated," he says slowly as he backs you into the counter by the sink.

"I mean, only a little," you say with a smile but he doesn't smile back. "And I only did it to make sure you didn't use your magic," you quickly try to explain.

"Um, I think we should go... literally anywhere else," Steve says as Loki grips your waist with both hands and keeps you pressed between himself and the counter.

"Don't worry, we're leaving," Loki says with a smirk, still looking only at you. Without warning he picks you up and throws you over his shoulder. You gasp and the suddenness of it and he uses one arm to hold you in place by the back of your legs as he turns to leave the kitchen. He pauses and picks up your water bottle. "You'll need to keep hydrated, it's going to be a very long night, love," he says as he carries you down the hall towards your room.

Some 400 years later, Joan stumbles upon a newly immortal Booker and despite befriending each other for a brief time, once again they part ways without realizing what the other is. 

After roughly 600 years of immortality, Joan is living a comfortable but lonely life, still unaware there are others like her. At least, until she dreams about Nile getting slashed through the throat. The dreams refuse to go away, and Joan manages to track down the young woman - and in the process, finds out not only is there another immortal like her, there’s a whole group of them, and all of them know each other. In an AU where Booker didn’t betray the team, most of her story is just her and the guard getting to know each other, trying to figure out how to make this new dynamic work, and Joan finding a place after centuries of not having anyone.

Character bio/premise: Based on the goddess from Greek mythology, Hestia is the eldest daughter and princess of Olympus, another alien civilization like Asgard. The eldest daughter, but not the ruler, Hestia has taken care of the kingdom in her own way - tending to the fires and protecting the home and family - ever since they overthrew their tyrannical and abusive father centuries ago and created a kingdom of peace and prosperity - with the exception of their rivalry with Asgard. In an attempt to avoid war between their kingdoms, Odin and Zeus arrange a marriage between Thor and Hestia. While both of them range from reluctant but willing to outright reluctant, they are married and Hestia comes to live on Asgard. She is quiet and some would say "meek" or "weak", and no one expects her to get along with the brash and bold Prince Thor. Surprisingly, her calm demeanor and hidden strength makes it easy to form a friendship with him.

While dealing with culture clashes and coming to understand her new home and her new family, Hestia and Thor become friends, and then (slowly for Hestia, very quickly for Thor) fall in love. They remain happily married for centuries - up until the events of Thor 1 take place, followed by the rest of the MCU, making their lives a whole lot more complicated.

It's a normal existence - up until Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr basically break into her store, tell her they know she has telekinesis, and ask her to save the world with them and other mutants like her.

While she initially refuses their offer, she later changes her mind, needing to keep her son safe. When she joins the other mutants, she finds herself joining a community she didn't know she needed, becoming the unofficial Team Mom of the group, and facing emotional issues she had pushed down for years.

To keep her safe, Dai Shi turns Rose to stone, and she waits for 10,000 years before he returns and tasks her with being a double agent once more, this time spying on the power rangers who threaten his attempts to take over the world.

It’s supposed to be an easy mission. She sews discord in the group, avoids getting too close, and reports back to her Lord with information to destroy the rangers. But slowly, the safety and kindness of her fake life starts to feel more welcoming than the cruelty she had accepted before, and Rose suddenly finds herself at a crossroads - to choose revenge and a life she’s been told is the only one she deserves, or her new friends and a life she thinks she actually deserves.

Grieving, but ready to leave HYDRA behind, Cara agrees to join SHIELD (not knowing HYDRA and SHIELD are one and the same) and become an agent for them after being given a second chance by Clint Barton, as well as Natasha Romanoff, Nick Fury, and Maria Ross (who would eventually become her best friend). Years go by and she’s definitely one of their best agents, although she still has a lot of unprocessed trauma and anger. Things get a little better when she finds a family with the Avengers. Things get a lot better when she meets Sam Wilson, whose good heart and entire character is a bright spot in her stormy life.
