I have a bumper sticker that says “Honk if you worship the old gods.” Today on the highway, got jumpscared by a massive truck honking at me. Got terrified and wondered what I did (we were stuck in traffic and moving slowly), looked over, and the dude was smiling, giving me a thumbs up, and pointed to my bumper sticker. I laughed SO hard.

Being so afraid of being wrong that you can’t move is actually the worst thing you could do for your practice.

You aren’t imposing on anyone.

You aren’t insulting the Gods. Arguably, you don’t actually know what would be considered insulting unless you’ve actually asked Them.

You’re not going to be beaten up and told you are the worst devotee ever.

You aren’t going to be told by any Deity you are morally imbalanced or impure.

The only thing the Gods are actually concerned with is the ability to get you to listen to Them which means peeling away layers and layers of trauma, biases, and patterns that take you away from Them. They would not forcibly remove you from Their attentions just because you wanted to try something new or do something that no one else is doing.

The ultimate goal of any Divine relationship for either side should always be to draw nearer to Them, not be pushed away because your discernment is inaccurate while you are learning.

One of my favorite kennings for Loki is "farmr Sigvinjar arma", which translates roughly to "the cargo of Sigyn's arms". Add a little Gustav Klimt to the equation, and you have an idea that's been plaguing me for months.

Loki in Hiding

I often see Loki in his 'outcast' or hermitic aspect. Here he hides in the wilderness, returning to perhaps an older form. I view him in a cave, lit by a modest fire. He sits cloaked and hooded. Before him is a low, rounded working surface on which he weaves a spiraling net that resembles a spider's web.

I believe that one of Loki's oldest forms is as the weaver of nets, setter of traps. He embodies the way humans have survived in the wild through outsmarting and tricking potential prey as well as predators. To the hunter-gatherer, stealth and trickery is a vital skill. I wonder to myself if his name could have the same roots as words like the Finnish loukku (trap) and Russian ло́вкий ('lóvkij' - skillfull, cunning).

As outcast, to me Loki does not seem uncomfortable or desperate, he returns to his natural state. Here he is not "Slanderer of the Gods" or "Forger of Evil", he is just Loki.

Zack Snyders new adult animation netflix show, Twilight of the Gods is so fucking amazing. I adore it so much, and watched the whole show in one sitting and might do so again either tonight or tomorrow. But it's so fucking good and I wanna talk with people about it
