Vettonso x Similar Helmets
SV Germany 2012 x FA Monaco 2013: Gold & Dark Red
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think a lot about Vettonso and their mutual relationship witn gold. They're both golden boys, they're both seen lit gold by the sunshine on many podiums throughout the years, both have worn golden boots, and as you can see here: both have worn golden helmets. The parallels in these particular helmets makes me feel insane. Both are: gold with dark red accents, both have their birthplace's coat of arms(Bergstraße and Asturias), both have team animal motifs, and both have symbols to represent their two championships(You by now know the signifigance of the ones on Fernando's helmet, but I think the ones on Seb's are actually a callback to his Formula BMW days when he used to put the smiley stickers on his car for every win.)
And did you know both of these helmets were designed by the same helmet design company? Yep, both of these are JMD helmets. I know JMD helmets are/were pretty popular, but still, there's something to me about Fernando commissioning the same designer that Seb has been using since he was a literal child. Parallels, am I right?
SV Japan 2010 x FA Japan 2023: White with Black & Red
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haha I remember @protocolseben and I discussing this a bit back in September when Fernando's helmet dropped. I honestly think Seb is such an innovator and trailblazer in terms of helmet design, and you can see his influence in helmet design as recently as this past season. I'm not sure if he was the first ever driver to don a matte white helmet with red accents as a representation of the Japanese flag, but it certainly envoked him in my mind when I saw Fernando's!!
I think Fernando's is pretty similar to all of Seb's 2010-2012 Japan helmets but I like this one the most so! I think if Seb wasn't restrained by the Red Bull logo, he def wouldv'e put the red circle where Nando put his so I think Fernando did a really good job, even if unintentionally, at emulating Seb's sense of design.
SV Singapore 2012 x FA Singapore 2012: Sparkly!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I said in the one above, it's crazy how much Seb influenced helmet design. He was pretty much the pioneer of sparkly helmets for Singapore, right? It drives me absolutely insane that there's actually pictures of them together in such similar designed helmets. It's kinda funny actually that even though they're pretty deep in the championship fight at this point, and Seb just got one up on Fernando; Fernando is wearing a helmet that is a direct influence from Seb!!! Is that not insane???
Also, Fernando trying to be camp with trying the now in vogue sparkly Singapore helmet, and Seb accidentally completely blew him out of the water with his outrageous light up LED constellation helmet. But god yeah....to have pics of them in matching helmets from this era particuarly makes me emotional ;;;
SV Hungary 2021 x FA 2022: Pink with Dark Blue
Tumblr media
I really could've picked any of Seb's 2021 helmets, but I thought this one matched the best with Fernando's main 2021 helmet(with the color pallet.) Also one thing, it's crazy how much control BWT has as a sponsor, I don't think I've ever seen another sponsor go so hard at having a chokehold on individuality. I like that we got pink liveries and pink helmets, but I don't think they should have that much control.
I'm almost kinda sad there wasn't any Miami GP in 2021, because I think that was the only unique helmet Fernando had in 2022. But these match pretty well! Pretty in pink!! It's crazy that their parallels in the 2020s are ongoing even before Fernando actually takes over Seb's seat. Thanks BWT I guess?
SV Abu Dhabi 2022 x FA Abu Dhabi 2022: Fernando's Seb Tribute Helmet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND HERE WE HAVE THE PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE!!! The ultimate conclusion, it literally couldn't get better than this!! This is still unbelievable, like how is this an actual thing that happened!? Fernando intentionally branding his helmet, the only symbol of individuality in F1, with his rival's flag colors, HIS FLAG!!!!! Not to mention the literal "Vettono Best Moments" collage he posted alongside it....and the hand-holding....and everything that happened with them at Abu Dhabi 2022....
But god, after years of incidentally making parallel helmet designs, Fernando decided to officially tie the knot of the red string of fate, and make a helmet directly referencing Seb's. I think it's funny because as I said with two of the previously mentioned ones, those Fernando designs are pretty much inspired by Seb's, and here he is openly making one directly inspired by Seb. I don't really have words for how this actually makes me feel because it's just. Yeah. The most open and clear declaration of love and respect and admiration one could ever make. TO ME.
#all of my posts subheading should be: 'its probably not that deep BUT-'#i can't believe ive made two deeply researched and beloved posts in a row one day after the other#posts sponsored by: 12 am red bull consumption. my all-consuming devotion and love for vettonso. and my unwillingness to do schoolwork#i mean i felt a lot of emotions and had fun making it but like. hey. could you put this effort into school?#anyways feeling deeply emotionally affected about helmets and their symbolism#i think in the entirety of f1 seb and fernando are two of the most dedicated and passionate about helmet designs and symbolism?#so this post is very special to me :] helmet fuckers unite <3#again: they say they aren't friends and don't share any hobbies and im just staring at them like YOU IDIOTS!!!#its just that spongebob meme of him pointing out the trashcans. like guys. be fr rn. you totally share hobbies#both like helmet design. paddel and pingpong. sustainability. cars. racing. european football. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON#well im glad they swapped helmets at some point(i think nando gave seb two pretty old ones as well. now thats dedication!)#if they werent cowards i bet they couldve also had a 5+ hour long discussion about helmet design ;;;;;;#thinking also about how fernando has one of seb's in his museum >:) but if only it were one of the ones on this list. sigh.#normal posts that catie normally makes in a normal fashion#well lmk if theres any other vettonso helmets you think are similar!!! im pretty blind to seb helmets that arent rbr era tbh#sebastian vettel#fernando alonso#f1#formula 1#vettonso#we do a little bit of f1

My thoughts about DD's hat
This hat caused a lot of noise, and this is understandable - DD focused attention on it and posted a million photos and videos with this hat wherever he could. Just today the video appeared on five platforms - Weibo, Douyin, Instagram, YouTube and BiliBili. Of course, everyone understands that it has special meaning for him. The same thing happened once with the panther logo, which DD also placed everywhere. Such activity has been unusual for him lately; the hat has broken all records.
I just want to speculate on this topic because there are some things that seem dubious to me, contrary to popular opinion.
The turtles assume that GG gave DD the hat, brought it from Singapore, there is a hat shop downstairs of the hotel where he lived, and he bought it there.
Tumblr media
I have an unpopular opinion about this. I think the hat is really connected to GG, perhaps it was the gift from him. But I think that the hat is not from this store. On Weibo I found the screenshot of a fan’s correspondence with the store on Instagram. I'm not sure if this is a genuine screenshot or not, but if it is genuine, then the theory about buying the hat from this store is incorrect:
Tumblr media
I looked at this store's Instagram account and it seems they really don't have any hats like that. Their hats are in a certain style and are made in a certain way, but DD's hat is different, it differs in weave, and the shape of the ribbon, and style. This becomes clear if you look through the many hat models from this store. I do not exclude the possibility that I am mistaken, and that the screenshot may turn out to be fake.
But I'm quite sure that this hat has special value for DD, because he constantly tries to show it. Yesterday and today, solos tried to “wash” this hat, claiming that DD allegedly bought it himself. They even found DD's photos from 2017 wearing a similar hat and tried to claim that it was the same hat, but it was a different hat, that could be seen with the naked eye.
Tumblr media
And today, shortly after this attempt at "washing", DD bombarded us on various platforms with many videos of this hat, and in this video there is the interesting detail: the only time DD touches the hat and lifts it occurs at 23rd second. I won’t guess whether this is a coincidence or not.
Tumblr media
There are several signs that this hat has a special meaning for DD:
1. DD posts an unusually large amount of materials with this hat. He's showing off. I had a similar feeling recently with Leica - “look carefully from all sides at what I have, how wonderful it is!”. And during the event, DD was in a good mood and smiled a lot; in my subjective opinion, he looked like a birthday boy.
2. The origin of this hat is still unknown; no brand has yet claimed the right to it. It seems strange that DD would wear an accessory of an unknown brand to the important event, especially since this accessory has become the center of attention.
3. If GG has nothing to do with this hat, then it is difficult to explain the appearance of his vlog at such a strange time, unfavorable for GG, because many people's attention was focused on the GQ event.
4. DD knew full well that the hat would cause a stir, if only because it initially reminded everyone of Luffy's hat. DD simply cannot help but understand this, and yet he made and continues to place a sharp emphasis on this hat.
5. DD didn't part with the hat all evening, both of his outfits were with it, although the second suit no longer involved boating, but DD designated it as a yuppie gentleman costume, and the hat was also in theme. There is not a single photo or video where he is without hat (except those where his head is not visible).
We have a certain chain of events: 1. GG goes to Singapore. 2. There is the hat shop at GG's hotel. 3. Two days after GG’s arrival, DD appears wearing the hat similar to those sold in the hotel store. 4. GG posts the Singapore vlog in the middle of showing off DD's hat. 5. In GG’s vlog there are shots of the hotel; it seems that the hat store is located not far from that place.
There may be a wrong link in this chain of events - the hat is not from this store.
My version of events: DD had been preparing for the event for a long time, and his costumes were thought out in advance, including the hat. The GQ program involved boating, and the boater hat was very appropriate. I don't think DD decided to wear this hat at the last minute because GG returned from Singapore on December 4th and DD flew to Shanghai on the 6th. Most likely, such a hat was already part of DD’s costume, the look was thought out in advance by the stylist (probably by DD too). Perhaps GG saw this hat in Singapore and decided to bring it to DD, and DD put it on instead of the one that was supposed to be in advance. This is why GG's Singapore vlog suddenly appears at an unusual time, in the middle of the event, when DD is posting materials. In any case, I think that there is some kind of connection between the hat and Singapore. Perhaps it is the already mentioned by many people Nanyang style, which is a Singaporean style and includes such hats, and then the connection with Singapore becomes more obvious.
I'm not sure of anything, this hat literally messed with my head, and the case is not solved for me yet. One thing I can say is that this hat clearly has some kind of secret, and it hasn't happened without GG's participation. I hope that someday we will learn the secret of this hat, perhaps new circumstances will become clear. This often happens in the world of GGDD - explanations for many things come gradually, sometimes even after years. Let's wait and see. 💚❤️.
Everything that is written here is fiction, CPN, fake.

what is happening in the world of motorsports?
send all of hatred toward Red Bull because apparently they suspended the woman who dared to speak up against innapropriate behaviour from the side of her boss (there were rumours that Horner would leave the team by Australia because of boycotts coming from the US market which they wanna focus on, but it was denied a few hours after by Red Bull spokesman, worth noting that Emely de Heus running Red Bull livery in F1 Academy has Ford logos on the car which seems to be a nod towards proceeding with their deal for 2026, then also rumours of Max leaving for Mercedes, Horner contradicting by saying that no individual is bigger than the whole team etc.)
Fred Vasseur and his full wallet are still hungry for more for their all star team and they are now apparently looking into getting engineers from Red Bull (among the names most mentioned online are: head of aero Enrico Balbo, the legend himself Adrian Newey, David Morgan, Ben Waterhouse or Alessandro Germani)
what he already achieved is get Jerome d'Ambrossio who was preparing to take over the team principal duties in Mercedes when Toto Wolff's contract expires, Jerome will join Ferrari and be linked to FDA which should allow Jock Clear to focus more on F1
Red Bull Racing have a planned upgrade for Imola that is meant to be the reworked no-pod concept Mercedes tried out at the start of current regulations and Ferrari will react with their own big upgrade package featuring new floor, bodywork and sidepod scales (McLaren also teased upgrades for their car around this time in the season)
there are so many silly season rumours including Kimi Antonelli to Mercedes (Toto and Kimi were on track for a team who Marco Antonelli drives for in Imola), Fernando Alonso to Mercedes (Toto had another coffee date with his manager Flavio Briatore), Carlos Sainz to Red Bull Racing (his father met up with some Red Bull figures in the paddock), Carlos Sainz to Mercedes (again they visited their facilities and Corriere dello Sport claims that they started the negotiations for a 2025 seat), Ollie Bearman to Haas (he was already linked to the seat and according to our comms it was one of the worst kept secrets he had that seat reserved before the start of the season already, but after his amazing debut in Jeddah, he may have gotten the attention of some other - better - teams as well), Max Verstappen to Mercedes (Marko Helmut has been running his mouth to media - name ORL - about how he may be suspended for leaking internal information and Max followed by with saying he is linked to Marko so basically if he goes, he will follow him + Toto and Lewis spoke about how anyone would love to have him) and Guenther Steiner told Sky that Toto Wolff should consider Nico Hulkenberg for the Mercedes seat......
drivers have been shown the new track in Saudi - Qiddiya - that could appear in the calendar from 2027 by Alex Wurz himself (who co-designed it with Tilke) and they posted about it one after another as an ad for the gp (so there is no way you could have avoided it)
Mercedes may have more problems in the near future because their track data doesn't corelate well with sim data, so neither the engineers nor the drivers are sure how to evolve the package they have on their hands (they were 2nd slowest in high speeds after Alpine according to data) meaning that it is probably not a problem of their setup but rather the whole design
Felipe Massa sued FIA, F1 management and also Bernie Ecclestone over 2008 crashgate which cost him the title, he is asking for around 80 mil for the Singapore race not being nullified like it should (and Bernie because he said last year that he and Moss knew about the breach at the time but decided not to act on it in fear of it damaging F1 as a brand)
Jody Schecker is auctioning off some of his cars if you have a few millions to spare
we don't have an official update on Carlos, but according to Fred Vasseur he could even be ready to jump in the car by Australia (the decision will be made in accordance to the doctors and to how Carlos himself feels soon, probably next week)
Alessandro Bruni explained that Sauber is working on a fix for their pit stop issue, so it wouldn't repeat in the future
Alan Permane from RB team wants to talk to the FIA about Kevin Magnussen's unsportman like behaviour (mate he got 20s of penalties i think they are were aware he didn't race by the rules)
Ollie Bearman sat behind the wheel of Ferrari again as he tested F1-75 in Fiorano today
after the head of Bahrain mentioned they would want the gp on Saturday to be a permanent thing, the head of Saudi Arabian gp is now considering the same thing
Jack Doohan will participate in a special event during Australian GP to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his father's 1st Motorcycling World Championship win (Mick will also driver MotoGP Honda, so they will share a track)
after Otmar Szafnauer was fired from Alpine, he appeared at a Honda event and has also been linked to Andretti
lil summary of Jeddah 2024:
after the brake issues Charles experienced in Bahrain, the team started to investigate it, because they didn't experience this before and Jock Clear said they didn't get to the bottom of it yet with Brembo (the braking system manufacturer)
the sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain is apparently considering the sale of its share in McLaren
Andretti showed off their new HQ whoch features a hint towards F1 journey so it seems like they will try again to get into the sport
in F1, FP2 session was delayed for a drain cover in pit lane which had to be re-screwed to stay safe
Carlos felt sick all weekend and it was because of appenditic, he had to get his appendix taken out and Ollie Bearman from FDA jumped in his seat for the weekend - after already scoring a pole for the feature race in F2 (the rules prevent him to start in both, so he chose to take the chance in f1 and lose a chance to score points from the sprint and feature race in f2)
Lando jump started the gp but didn't get a penalty (because he stopped and didn't gain anything from it and was still inside the starting box, so the sensor for jump starting the race didn't qualify it as such)
Checo Perez scored his 8th penalty point in Jeddah (after he left the pit box while the red light was still on and was therefor unsafely released in front of Fernando) and is near a possible race ban if he gets to 12 before some of them expire
F1 Academy championship started and Doriane Pin absolutely dominated (she got double pole and double victory - although she got demoted to p9 after the second win for taking checkered flag twice) and not even this was a smooth ride, because they had to take two formation laps in the first race after the race control had a problem with the starting lights
fun facts and fan's point of view:
Ollie is the first driver in history to be on the grid with a driver - Fernando Alonso - who scored a championship when he was born
also important note i see nobody else speaking about, Ollie mentioned a point that is contradicting what Logan has been saying, which is that feeder series - namely F2 - prepares drivers well for stepping up into F1
Ollie also mentioned that before the race, he got a message from Seb as a good luck and it made him happy, because it's a driver he admires a lot
fun fact about Ollie's 2024 season so far: he has more points in F1 than he has in F2 currently
oh and since Lewis was there first to congratulate Ollie, he has been helping him out of the car after the demanding gp
Charles got himself a new Ferrari (and yes i thought it is his Pista because he got a similar customisation for this one)
Alex posted a photodump where he photoshopped Yuki (you need to see it)
Australian gp will have The Pride Hub ready for fans (in partnership with Racing Pride)
there was this long essay written on F1 and the way the rich world works called "Behind F1's velvet curtain" and the piece from Kate Wagner was taken down without a word although the writer was commisioned to write it and it looks like the highest figures and structures were included in the decision to take it down due to criticism of the sport (or more like the world of it)
Nico Rosberg made a new ad where he sings karaoke (he is never escaping the Britney allegations)
last note: Ollie has gotten so much support from other drivers and fans, it's beautiful to see (also his father David Bearman has been an absolute icon in the Ferrari garage the whole two days)
Charles met with an Italian singer Ultimo and signed his T-shirt
Oscar showed off his new helmet for his home gp and it's very pretty!!

Note
dunno if someone asked this before but top 5 helmets????????
heyo! nope, you're the first person to ask~
my memory of helmets is governed mostly by mr Seb because he just loves changing it so much, and all of them are recent year ones because there is way more creativity in all of them!
#5: Lewis' 2022 Monaco Helmet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually liked the concept of this helmet! I'm a huge sucker for close ups so when the came up with this one together with an artist, I was pretty please. It's a shame that the sponsors were unhappy that they couldnt see their labels and he had to change it out, but I think if he tweaked it and made it permanent, it easily could be his signature!
#4: Kimi's 2013 Helmet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kimi's helmet is like, the maximum amount of swishy-swooshy lines that someone should/could have, without just being a mess AND keeping his character + his logo. It's subtle, but the gold on his helmet paired with the suit's red and gold accents on black is (CHEF'S KISS)
#3: Sebastian's 2012 Singapore Helmet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm just mad biased at this part! Seb's LED helmet is so iconic that it has to be in this post one way or another. I mean the thought process behind it was probably the most straightforward, let's just stick some cool blinking lights up there. Even when turned off and by itself, the glitter adds more 'life' to just basic black. Made even better by the FIA saying NO WE ARE BANNING THAT right after. What a guy.
(I'm horribly biased to any and all helmets he brings to Singapore. I'm glad he does the same and tells Jens Munsen to really work it every race in SG)
#2: Sebastian's 2011 Korea Helmet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boy. I genuinely thought he couldn't get better than this. Dark dark dark navy + gold? Like, what else do you need? I'm shocked he didn't use this combo often, it's so sleek and classy, especially in the current era where all helmet designs are just (vague gesturing). (Todd Howard voice) It Just Works!
#1 however goes hands down however to...
#1: Valtteri's 2023 Australia Helmet!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Completely can't be beat. Everything about this piece of art is just gorgeous, In so many shades of blue and white of his Finnish flag, and designed with an immensely experienced hand. Best of all, it's auctioned for a good cause. This one just stuck out to me because I can really see the care the artist put in it. It just delights me in so many ways. What a great shade of blue and navy!
Bonus : Sebastian's 2020 Steiermark Helmet! Matte and white....wohohohoho.

Part 5 of SMRT Rolling Stock Preview. You guys have been waiting for these 2 brothers to be previewed. Well, here it is! The 5th and 6th gen series rolling stock in the Kawasaki family.
Let me introduce you the two names. They are Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CSR Qingdao Sifang C151B and Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang C151C. Lots of people said that these train are the same variety but what about the designs? Well observation shows they are different. Let me run through the scale on these brothers.
First off is the C151B trains also known as KSF B. The Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CSR Qingdao Sifang C151B is the 5th generation rolling stock in SMRT that was manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang.
The C151B trains has it's specialized SMRT livery more commonly to the refurbished C651 (SIE). The interior on the train has no foldable seats. About the same average to the KSF A trains. The KSF B trains were manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries CRRC Qingdao Sifang and was built in Qingdao Shandong China together with the KSF C trains.
There is a huge TV screen (Staris 2.0) that shows the station information displays and advertisements. With regards on the CBTC signalling system on the North South & East West Lines, the newly freshed C151B trains were delivered to Singapore on 12 April 2017.
Under the Tuas West Extension on the East West Lines, the KSF B trains went through rigorous testing in train depots & on the mainlines to ensure the signaling system works and passenger comfort. On the 16 April 2017, first EMU set 601/602 made its debut on the North South Line for passenger service operations.
The Tuas West Extension made its opening for commuters on 16 June 2017 whereas additional of C151B train sets were also made its debut on the East West Lines during train service operations.
Lastly on the 6 May 2018, the KSF B trains deployed on the whole section on the East West Line for the CBTC signalling system full day trials.
Moving onto, the Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang C151C. One of it's greatest livery that showed the red and green symbolized the mainlines. The front logo on the driving trailer was placed by the word Land Transport Authority.
The KSF C trains is the 6th generation rolling stock series that was deployed on the North South Line on 30 September 2018 during its debut day. At Tuas West Depot, EMU set 703/704 was shown in the video preview. Inside of it, there are tip-up seats, original seatings and the Staris 2.0 more similar to the KSF B.
The tip-up seats for its purpose was to have more standing and sitting capacity for commuters.
The KSF C trains were manufactured by Kawasaki Rail Car Corp CRRC Qingdao Sifang and was built in Qingdao Shandong China. In addition, more C151C trains were purchased for more train service capacity.
During the debut day, EMU sets 701/702 & 703/704 was the first set to be deployed on the North South Line operations. But then, as the debut day went by, 703/704 had returned to the train depot due to defects on the train while 701/702 was running.
Today, all the spamming deployments of KSF trains on the North South Line are common, some of them are East West Deployments.
That's all for part 5 of SMRT rolling stock preview! Now you have a clear and better understanding about these two brothers. Same same but different. Stay tuned for more preview updates on Tumblr!

Compulsory Question 2
Having an artistic vision statement is significantly important for every artist and designer. Artistic vision is an artist's and designer’s way of seeing, their perspectives, their talk in the type of work they do, the colours they use, the images and the story they wish to convey in their works.
To discover one’s own statement of artistic vision, my class was tasked to answer the guiding questions about ourselves. We had to identify the connection between who we are, what we do, who we want to be and what we want to do to achieve our dreams. I did not have any difficulty answering these questions because I have already set a goal for myself and my aspiration.
I believe that my artistic vision is well thought and realistic. I received quite a lot of supportive feedback and comments from my fellow classmates regarding their views and opinions on my artistic vision statement. From reading their wordings, I felt a lot of hope and optimism flowing through my mind, enabling my motivations and putting more effort in the future in order to achieve my goal. Thus, I do not have anything to be revised, based on the feedback and comments.
My aspiration in my artistic vision statement is to be a part of the marketing industry. I wish to be able to design things to market and promote what is tasked to me. For instance, I am designing a promotional marketing campaign for an event in Singapore called Singapore Writers Festival for my studio work assignment school project. I am designing things such as posters, billboards, banners, web pages, brochures and so on to promote the festival event. I actually enjoy doing so because it provides me with a specific goal to design the most eye-catching work piece to attract the audiences. With the help of my lecturer, the supervisor, my fellow team partner, and my engagement to the event itself, I managed to develop a satisfying result. As a person myself, I love to communicate my thoughts and ideas to the public not through words but through the arts and designs that I produce. Although the negative aspect could be the misinterpretation of my works by the audience, that also happens to communication with words to the audience. My inspiration is the well-known graphic designer and art director, Paul Rand, who was best known for his corporate logo designs.
The connection between my work with the campaign connects to one of the most important in the Critical Thinking Skills B module which is connecting practice with society. My design is the “practice” to attract the “society”. Furthermore, to develop my “practice”, I must resonate myself with my “theory” and self-identity to reflect my designs.
Word count: 455
The first image is one of Paul Rand’s well-known design and the rest is my design project example.

CONNECT CTS A TO MY LEARNING AND PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY! [Week 12]
My partner has his own brand called “Nocturnal” based in Singapore and I would love to collaborate with him. His brand identity is based on the automotive culture and to build a community by connecting with others through events, and their own merchandise. The whole team for his brand are some alumni and current students in Lasalle. I resonate heavily with the brand and I love the idea of building a community and culture for the automotives as I feel that Singapore is lacking in the youth aspect. I have attended a few of their shoots and have helped with some of their branding logos and also covers. It would really be a great honour if I am able to work alongside them for their future projects. For example, “Run The Night” is a franchise and niche event where they invite local or international DJs/ creatives/ rappers/ baristas. I would love to be a part of this, and the creative process for the show. I can work on the event poster or even the layout and designing of the event space alongside the creative director team. I have interacted with most of them and I admire the connection and the common ambition they have towards the vision. I believe that it will be a fun environment for me to be in and the fact that I am doing something of interest such as designing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How I envision myself working for a final project is something that is of my interest and also involves a community. I like the idea of building that connection with others and not viewing it as a job. Similarly to “Nocturnal” there is a brand called “PinkFlamingoUSA” that is based in the USA and has moved internationally to other countries such as Japan. They have similar vibes whereby it is a community based on the automotive culture. Their partner company “Prix Workshop” focuses more on the fashion line and merchandising. I love the idea of having merchandise to foster a sense of identity and individuality. Additionally the idea of integrating fashion together with a community sparks my interest. It would be a really great opportunity if I am able to work with either PinkFlamingoUSA or Prix as I resonate heavily with this brand. From that experience and networking, it would be nice for Nocturnal, a local brand to move towards that direction of making it known worldwide too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CTS A will help me a lot in building my self-esteem and confidence to network with relevant people. As an individual, I am reletively shy and conserved. This will definitely affect my line of work as I am required to communicate with people for projects and events. It will enhance my ability to be able to have intentional and effective communication when I am networking with people. Especially since my work line is around building relationships and a community, not only am I required to communicate with my team but also the audience and the people that resonate with the brand. With critical thinking, I have to be mindful and put myself in the shoes of others and to feel the emotions that I am trying to convey from their standpoint. This would mean that I have to be unbiased and to practise empathy.

CTS A | Week 12 Summative Assessment Prep—Session 3
Design and music students can collaborate to boost creativity and introduce new ideas into projects. Music students can compose original pieces that inspire design students to create visual interpretations of the music. Design students might develop visuals such as logos, album covers, or illustrations that reflect various musical styles. Both fields rely on rhythm and emotion, allowing us to bridge cultural and language gaps effectively. Together, we could also produce short films that synchronize visuals with music, creating a unique experience. Sound, though intangible, can be symbolically represented, transforming it into images that, through synesthesia, elicit emotional responses. Design students might also support music students by filming and editing videos, designing album covers, creating social media graphics, and making posters to promote performances.
For my final project, I plan to design an anti-bullying campaign to empower students who feel powerless. Using ads, posters, and videos, the campaign will aim to raise awareness and encourage victims to speak out. The target audience will include teachers, students, and parents, with posters displayed in high-traffic areas like schools, HDB notice boards, and tuition centers. Additionally, the campaign will extend to social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to broaden its reach.
I would also like to collaborate with a health organisation, given that health, although invaluable, is often overlooked. I could design educational materials, like booklets on topics such as "How to Eat Healthy." These could be paired with posters and short videos to spread awareness. Since people often avoid lengthy videos, we would keep them under two minutes, making them engaging through creative techniques like rotoscoping.
Critical thinking is essential for my growth as a brand designer. It enables me to develop designs that align with a brand's image and connect with audiences, clients, and stakeholders. A growth mindset is also invaluable, as it allows me to appreciate and adapt to different perspectives and expectations. This skill set helps me make thoughtful design decisions, improve continuously, and overcome challenges.

CTS B | Week 4+5 Analysing Artistic Traditions and Lineages
At the exhibition, the gallery guide introduced me to “Epic Poem of Malaya” (1955) by Chua Mia Tee, sharing that he also painted Yusoff Ishak’s portrait on our dollar notes. They pointed out a fly in the artwork, added to showcase Chua’s attention to detail. I later recognized him as the artist behind “National Language Class” (1959), discussed in Critical Thinking.
When connecting the two paintings, I noticed how both paintings were depicting Singapore during a time of uncertainty as the nation had just gained independence when the paintings were created. It provoked me how the characters of each painting were specifically curated to create a depth in the portrayal of the story that Chua wants to set in his creations. From having different outfits to show the different racial groups to different expressions of the people in it(Ravindran Associates LLP). I found his way of “show not tell” in his paintings to be quite notable as he depicts them in a form of ‘social realism’, allowing his local viewers to relate to the people in it while allowing tourists to learn about the country’s culture and history much more efficiently.
His method teaches us to embed deeper meaning into static designs by using careful choices in colour and layout to evoke specific stories or emotions. For instance, in a logo design, we might incorporate colours or shapes that hint at a brand's history or cultural background. This approach encourages designers to create work that’s not only functional but also rich in symbolism and personal connection.

Compulsory Question 3 (CTS A Week 12)
Tumblr media
A collaborative project that I really want to do is collaborate with a diploma in creative direction for fashion, which I can help to design the posters or make a branding from their designs and brands as well. I also think that collaborating with a diploma in music was quite challenging, for example we helped to make the rotoscope of the music video and the music student created a song. So I think that the song it's just not music, but it also has a visual in it that makes the audience interested to see the music video.
A final project that I wish I would like to do is branding. Since I saw one of my seniors did branding for her final year project, I was inspired by her a lot and that's why I want to make a branding of a restaurant. I am also interested in making the logo and the UI/UX as well.
An organization that I would like to engage with is being a part of the Indonesian community. Since I was an Indonesian who moved to another country, I obviously met a lot of people from different countries. When I see people that come from Indonesia, I feel delighted because I can meet an Indonesian in Singapore. Therefore, I would like to interact with Indonesian people and join their organization such as an Indonesian community in Singapore.
Tumblr media
For me, CTS A can help me professionally, since I was able to learn a lot of skills that are needed for a designer. For example, when I become a graphic designer in the future, I will meet a lot of clients and we will create a project. When discussing projects, I think that it's where the CTS A being a role, which needed an emotional intelligence and also collaborative skill. So I might think that CTS A was needed for every future career because CTS A taught me to think critically.

Tips for Designing T-Shirts for Printing in Singapore
Designing customised t-shirts is one of the newest and most popular ways of creative expression among individuals, companies, and organisations. Fashion trends or personal statements are among the most critical issues that people in Singapore do today to express their personality or corporate identity of an organisation. You might be designing t-shirts for corporate events, a sports team, or just as a gift. Anyway, getting the designs right calls for best practices and ideas. Here are some tips on designing your tshirt printing Singapore so that your project stands out and conveys the message or style you want to represent.
Tumblr media
1. Start with a Clear Concept
Decide on what you would like the overall look of your outfit to be. Most probably is for one occasion or campaign, or even just a statement in the fashion world. The purpose will give way to shape up your design. For instance, for a corporate type of event, you may need a sleek and professional look, whereas if you are targeting a youth type of an event, perhaps bold graphics with different shades of bright colours would be the secret.
Key Considerations:
Who you are targeting e.g. corporate, youth, sports teams, etc.
What message you want to convey
Ensure the concept is catchy and speaks to your audience.
2. Select the Right T-Shirt Fabric and Style
The fabric and style of the T-shirt are as important as the print. Singapore's tropical climate is extremely hot and humid; therefore, the use of light and airy fabrics such as cotton and dri-fit type predominates. In addition to that, the choice of fabric will determine the kind of printing technique to be used and the outcome of the print.
Common Fabric Options:
Cotton: Soft, breathable, and suitable for casual wear.
Polyester: It is durable and, at the same time, breathable and moisture-wicking, making it well-suited to athletic teams.
Blended fabrics: It would combine the comfort of cotton with the performance of polyester.
Style is where you will want to consider the fit you are looking for: crew neck, v-neck, or even polo t-shirts, which have become popular in Singapore for corporate events as well as for casual business wear.
3. Focus on Simplicity in Design
When designing a shirt for printing, not always is it more the merrier. A simple, uncluttered design with great focal points strikes readers so much more than something that is cluttered or too complex. Clean lines and clear words make for a beautiful design, but they automatically translate well when printed to ensure that your finished product is nice and readable.
Design Tips:
Limit the features in the t-shirt design.
Big lines and readable script are preferred.
Try not to over populate the t-shirt with too much text or images.
A minimalist approach often works best for brand logos, slogans, or statements that you want to stand out clearly.
4. Choose the Right Colours
Any design for a t-shirt will need to be based on colour. Singapore's streetwear culture is bright and lively, but corporate fashion in this country is sleek and refined as well. For this reason, the colour scheme of a t-shirt can really make or break the overall product. Be aware of the kind of printing technique you will use and the effect of your colour on fabric.
Tips for Choosing Colours:
Use contrasting colours to make text and graphics pop.
Limit your palette to two or three colours for a cleaner look.
Consider how the colours will interact with the t-shirt fabric colour.
If your t-shirt is for a brand, make sure to incorporate your brand’s colour scheme. In case the design is for a special event, try to match the colours to the theme or mood you wish to convey.
5. Choose the Right Typography
Typography is also an integral part of the t-shirt design since it will either break or make the overall theme. It should portray the mood of the message if it is meant to be light, professional, or corporate. Still, the typography must complement the design while remaining readable.
Typography Tips:
Bold and readable fonts should be used for short slogans or phrases.
Avoid the use of too ornate fonts that are not readable.
Variety of font types should be used but in moderation not to congest the design and be a nuisance to the eyes.
Think about the typography on the shirt. Text that runs along your chest could be a fantastic dynamic element of your design; curved running across a graphic always scores.
6. Consider Placement and Scale of Design
Tumblr media
Placement and scale of the graphic have a great impact on the final look of your t-shirt. No matter how fantastic your graphic is, it might end up being unappealing if not positioned rightly or scaled inconveniently.
Design Placement Ideas:
Centre front: Classic and highly visible for logos or central graphics.
Upper back: Ideal for company names or team numbers.
Sleeves: Great for adding smaller details like a logo or slogan.
The design must be measured proportionately if it is to be used on a specific shirt size. A design that works well on a middle-sized shirt may look too small on an XL and too large on an XS.
7. Select the Right Printing Technique
In Singapore, printing techniques for t-shirts come in numerous options in terms of designs and budgets. One technique may well be advantageous on a particular design, fabric, and budget, yet disadvantageous in others.
Popular Printing Methods:
Screen printing: Works well for extremely large jobs with uncomplicated designs in just a few colours.
Direct-to-Garment (DTG): Suitable for highly detailed designs and smaller quantities.
Heat transfer printing: Good for creative and artistic ideas; after 40--50 washes, the prints may start to peel off as the adhesion deteriorates over time
This is important because each of these methods affects the final product: for example, screen printing gives very bright colours but may not be suitable for detailed graphics; DTG prints well on fine details but at a costlier price for bigger orders.
8. Test Your Design Before Production
Tumblr media
After you are pleased with your design, you would always make a sample or a test print prior to going into full production. You would want to ensure that the colours, placement, and overall look of your t-shirt is okay.
Testing Tips:
Order a sample to evaluate the print quality and fabric compatibility.
Check for any colour discrepancies between the digital design and the final product.
Wear the t-shirt to assess its comfort and durability.
9. Work with a Reputable T-Shirt Printing Company
A nice design on the t-shirt needs the work of a genuine and reliable tshirt printing Singapore company in Singapore. Find a company with numerous techniques for printing, quality raw materials, and some excellent customer service. For example, Ark Industries boasts an outstanding track record of delivery of high-quality custom t-shirt printing solutions for any kind of requirement.
Conclusion
Designing t-shirts for printing is an exciting activity in itself, but it requires paying attention to fine details and planning. All this starts from the right fabric and colours down to the right printing technique, all of which come together for the final product. Here's how you can do with your striking, quality t-shirts in Singapore to communicate your message to your audience.

CTS B | Week 12 Compulsory Question 2
In week 10, we had to write an artistic vision statement about ourselves, which was actually pretty fun and I got a feedback and comments from my classmate as well. It helped me understand myself better as a designer, giving me a chance to look at both my strengths and areas where I could improve. Through this, I gained a clearer idea of my design style and what makes my work unique.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would like to revise my artistic vision statement with a more detailed and impactful response based on my friend's comment.
-What is my design strength?
Typography is definitely one of my strongest skills in design. I find it easy to work with, and ideas just seem to come to me quickly when I’m focusing on typography. It feels natural for me to put together type in ways that improve the look and feel of a design. Because of this, I feel confident using typography to enhance the overall impact of my work. So I would like to say this is my design strength.
-Who do I want to become in 5 years?
I really want to become a freelance graphic designer like my role model, Abi Connick, within the next five years. She’s the reason I got interested in design in the first place . I learned a lot of tips and tricks from her tutorials during COVID and spent a lot of time watching her videos. She really inspired me to explore design more, especially brand and packaging design. After about six months of learning, I got a chance to design a logo for my uncle’s film production company. He liked it so much that he used it officially, which I feel is one of the biggest successes I’ve had so far.
-How do I want to do between now and then? Why?
I want to gain more experience in the design field and learn as much as I can. In the next five years, I plan to gather all my experiences and apply the knowledge I've gained to work as a freelance graphic designer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moreover, I would like to discuss about week 3, social engagement. For this project, we made a short film about bad habits in Singapore, titled "Bad Hab-eats (Hawker Centre)." The film focuses on two common issues: food wastage and littering, which we often see in public places like hawker centres. We wanted to show how wasting food harms the environment and how littering makes public spaces dirty. We also aimed to remind people not to judge others without first looking at their own actions. Our goal was to encourage everyone to take responsibility for their habits and be more mindful of the environment.
