still trying to make it a habit to update LOL. anyway, yesterday i really went wrong. After breakfast i had another sandwich (broodje kroket, its a dutch snack). then in our free periods i went with some friends to a cafe, i shouldve stopped myself but i still ate some mini loempias and fries. i feel terrible.
i didnt eat dinner, by the time i actually felt hungry it was 8pm and i thought dinner was a bit too heavy. so i ate a banana, and yoghurt with cruesli.
through the day i had a bifi sausage and some of those party toasts with filet american.
what makes me upset is that i ate most of this while not feeling hungry.

Assignment Three
1.
Angeline talks about having to decide which brands or types of cereal she buys for the following weeks. Vegans can find specific isles or other vegan-oriented stores around the country. Later on, Angeline states she visits a market further from her town. Do you think she lives further away and is forced to search for vegan foods in regular convenience stores, or does she live closer by and are there too many cereals to choose from? State what you think is true, give a good reason why.
She is forced to search for vegan foods in regular convenience stores. There barely are foods in the regular convenience stores that are vegan.
2.
Imagine that you decided to become a vegan (if you aren’t one already). Where would you be able to purchase vegan foods / goods? Make a list of the stores within a 30km radius. If you can’t find any, broaden your search to 60km.
Albert heijn, Lidl, Jumbo
3.
Look up some additives commonly found in non-organic foods. Are there any additives that vegans could eat? Do some research and discuss these vegan-friendly additives in your answers.
Tumblr media
4.
In Canada and the United States, the laws on what factories can add to premade dishes are looser than in the European Union. You’ve probably seen some additives disguised under so-called E-numbers. The following list contains some E-numbers without their actual (scientific) names.
Don’t understand the question.
5.
Now do some research on each of these E-numbers and connect them to commonly eaten products. Think of products that most of your classmates would eat on a weekly basis. Keep in mind to use specific brands (be very specific), e.g. Lidl’s River Power drink, Activia Strawberry Yoghurt cups, Fanta Orange, etc.
E120 -> pink kookies
E211-> frikandelbread
E385 -> Mayonaise
E460 -> Loempia
E920 -> bread
6.
Look up how dangerous/toxic the E-number is to the human body and its vegan-friendliness.
But the leading causes of food allergies and intolerances are entirely natural: milk, wheat, eggs, nuts, fish, soya, celery… And of course every single food or drink on the planet, whether it contains E numbers or not, is toxic at some level - apples contain cyanide, people have died from water intoxication, cabbage contains goitrogens, potatoes contain toxic solanine and broccoli contains carcinogens. But, as with E numbers, the amounts of these toxic substances are minute, and the benefits of consuming these foods and drinks invariably far outweigh the risks. The difference with E numbers is that they have been extensively tested and analysed to ascertain safe levels.
7.
Now it’s time to give your opinion about the products. Look at the 10 products you have selected in answers 2a). Would you eat these products (again)? Would you be more cautious, etc. Please explain why (per product).
I would not eat roze koeken or frikandelbroodjes. Loempia and bread are a different story though. Why? Because we all need bread and loempias are really good, so i would not stop eating that. Mayonaise i dont really carte about.
8.
Angeline received negative criticism from family members, friends, and even complete strangers for ‘forcing’ her kids to eat vegan foods. For some, this is understandable, but others may think of it otherwise. What do you think? Fully explain why.
I dont really care what other people do. If they want themselves and their children to eat vegan then they can do that. Once their children are old enough to make their own decisions, though, they should be allowed to eat however they want to.
9.
In the story Angeline mentions that her children will have a free choice once they are old enough. For the time being, she wants to teach them how to eat healthily. Do you agree with her? Please explain why.
Yeah I definitely agree with her choice. Of course i dont know what i would do if i had kids but i dont mind her choice at all and i understand her choice well.

Spring season, so it's time for Spring Roll.~ The sweet savory taste from its vegetable filling and the crunchy fried texture will lift up your mood. In Indonesia we called it Lumpia. Ussually the filling would be glass noodle, carrot, beansprout, and other vegetables. But some certain variant will also use minced meat or even bamboo shots. Oh, and this is actually a kind of Dimsum. By the way, it's been pretty long since the last time I post drawing in Instagram. I've been busy with my plan for this year. Hopefully everything will went well. I also want to be more thoughtful of what I really want to draw. I'm planning to make this as a DimSum series. ^^ Please do not repost, copy, or edit without the my permission. Thank you very much.  #springroll #spring #lumpia #chunjuan #cheungyun #chungwon #harumaki #loempia #lunpia #popiah #dimsum #food #culinary #cuisine #chinesefood #chinesecuisine #fooddrawing #foodillustration #drawing #illustration #artwork #instaart #instafood #digitaldrawing #digitalillustration #digitalartwork #artistoninstagram #artoninstagram #instadrawing #dimsumdrawing

Kastengel “cheese finger/stick”
Kaasstengels, Kastengel or kue keju is Dutch-Indonesian cheese cookie in the form of stick, commonly found in the Netherlands and Indonesia. The name describe its ingredients, shape and origin; kaas is Dutch word for “cheese”, while stengels is also Dutch word for “stick”. Unlike most cookies, kaasstengels taste savoury and salty instead of sweet.
In Indonesia, owed to its colonial links to the Netherlands, kaasstengels, together with nastar and kue putri salju are the popular Kue Kering (dried kue or cookie) during festive occasion, such as Natal (Christmas) and Lebaran (Eid al Fitr).
Kaastengels on the other hand, refer to Dutch hapjes (snacks) of “cheese-fingers”, derived from Dutch kaas (cheese) and tengels (fingers). It is a small spring roll or loempia-like crepes of the size of a finger, filled with gouda or edam cheese, which have been deep fried and served with a small bowl of a spicy chilli sauce.
Ingredients (best taste ever)
500g Wisman butter, at room temperature 1kg margarine “Blue Band”, at room temperature 11 egg yolks 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoons emplax 1,5kg cheddar/edam/gouda 2kg all purpose flour “kunci biru” 135g/5 sachet powdered milk (dancow full cream, the original recipe calls for full cream powdered milk)
Instructions
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, margarine, and egg yolks. Using a mixer, beat the ingredients for 3 to 5 minutes until light and fluffy. Beat in the cream to further lighten the mixture. Add in the cheese and continue to beat until thoroughly mixed in.In another bowl mix together the dry ingredients. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter/cheese mixture until all the flour has been incorporated. You will have what looks like a bowlful of crumbly particles. The dough will not come together until you press it together with your hands.To make the logs, press together a handful of the mixture and roll it into a rope, like making a playdough snake. You want the rope to be not quite as thick as an AA battery. Using an AA battery as a guide, cut the rope of dough into pieces the length of a battery. Place the cut pieces about 2 cm apart from each other on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.Once you have filled a baking sheet with the cut pieces, brush them with the egg yolk wash. Make a wash with one egg yolk at a time - that will usually be enough for one baking sheet (about 50 kastengel). Sprinkle the finely grated cheese on top of the pieces.Bake in a pre-heated 150ºC oven for about 20 minutes. Lower the heat to 95ºC and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until the kastengel are cooked through, but not really browned.
I copied the instruction and several lines from here : http://aussietaste.recipes/biscuits-and-cookies/kastengel-savoury-cheese-sticks/
But the ingredients were already cinfirmed by me…i tested to make it, and the taste really great….i wish i won’t forget the composition…☺
