"And you are sure these are edible?" "Ja. Well, sort of." "What does 'sort of' mean, Caleb Widogast?"
Here is Shadowgast in the style of Scavengers Reign!
Yes, this is a transparent and blatant attempt to pspspsps my fellow fans of Critical Role into watching this series. The first season is airing now on Netflix as of May 31st. They picked it up after Max did not renew it for a second season, and will decide based on the reception now whether to continue - so I am hoping that lots of people discover the show and love it! The animation studio is Titmouse, who also produces The Legend of Vox Machina.
It's like a Miyazaki-esque Annihilation. Cosmic horror and cosmic wonder in equal and necessary parts. If you like the funky biology parts of Candela Obscura, give this a shot. There is horror. There is humanity. There is hope and connection. There are creatures of all shapes and sizes, including a wonderful amount of tiny idiots, which I have made many compilation posts about. It's a setting where you can envision David Attenborough peacefully narrating a nature documentary about it, but be horrified the same time. Just an absolutely incredible show.

I've been dreaming of making a webcomic for nearly half of my life, and I've just started actually working on that, but... do you think it's worth it for me to start even with the decline of the scene? White noise is quite possibly my favorite piece of media, period, and it's in a format I love, so I figure you're a good person to ask the thoughts of.
(In reference to this post, I am guessing.)
ABSOLUTELY! 100%! MAKE YOUR WEBCOMIC!! Please don't let the whinging of us old heads deter you from making a project that you're passionate about.
I think it's important to ask yourself what would make it 'worth it' in your mind. What do you want out of making a webcomic? Is it that you want to experience the act of creation? Do you have a story you need to get out? Is your goal to get a book printed? To have a large audience? To improve your artistic and storytelling skills? To make a living on your artwork? To make merch? Some of these are way harder to do today, but some of these are goals that you will reach simply by making your webcomic.
If it helps at all, I had to do a lot of this kind of talk to myself when I was starting in 2011 (less because of the scene and more because I was low in self-confidence.) The only way I could get myself to start posting WN on Smackjeeves was to remind myself that I was doing this for myself only, and maybe no one would read it, and that would be ok, because if nothing else I would be making something I love and I would learn a lot doing it. 13 years later and I'd consider my goals met, even if I stopped WN before I'm truly done with it.
(Which speaking of, I feel very strongly that unfinished or abandoned webcomics are not a waste of time for either the reader OR the creator. Just because a story doesn't get an ending--or gets an ending you don't like--doesn't mean it's without worth!!)
The webcomic scene is not going to fully disappear anytime soon--it's just suffering the same corporatization that has gripped almost every art scene at some point in some way, and I think that problem has been compounded by the consolidation of the internet into a few social media platforms. But those platforms will crumble, and the corporations will bail once they can't squeeze any more money out of webcomics. The scene won't ever been the same as it was in the 2010s, but that's how time works, and that doesn't mean it won't ever get better than it is or that there's not gems to be found now. The only way it gets better is if more people make and read webcomics!

Third baby blanket of the week done! It’s not my favorite fabric combo but it’s the fabric I had in my stash and it’s going to be a day or two until I can get to the store. They are both florals!
I did manage to (mostly) remember to time myself when making this one, and it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to make one of these baby blankets

speaking of art, I totally forgot to post this earlier! but I drew a fun spooky AU Gideon for the GF Halloween Zine hosted by @howtokillavampire. it was nice to have the motivation to actually do something finished for once, haha
everyone in town thinks his vampire gimmick is soooo cute! he's so committed to the character! you could almost let yourself be fooled into thinking he's a real vampire.
he's not telling.

Out on my deck taking a picture of the viewfinder of my medium format film camera about to take a picture of the elements which are soon to become the chemistry by which I will develop said picture (and then running the first picture through an app that emulates analog film)

You could work double shifts, 7 days a week, for penny wages and zero benefits, and a corporation will still replace you with a chatbot, robotic arm, or imported labor.
Ultimately, these companies don't want employees at all. You're a cost to be eliminated for the sake of maximizing profits, and they will find every way possible to get rid of you.
You can keep suppressing your own wage, sacrifice your own benefits, and blame immigrants under the misguided belief that if you grovel hard enough they'll be nice to you, or You can start to understand that their goal is to get rid of any human body below the C-Suite and shareholders.

Hello! I was wondering if you’d be willing to take commissions someday 👀. No pressure tho! I just love your art so much
The short answer: "not at the moment, but it is very possible in the future'!
The slightly longer answer: I would have to figure out a good pricing and payment system! PD-MDZS is also where most of my free time goes, so until my life settles down a bit, I would be on the slow side to complete them.

Dreamingclan Healer
Parents: Comfy & Tonno
Siblings: Theia, Heath, Button, Merluzzo, Salmon, Gia, Marigold, Petrel, Redcrawl and Chivewhisper
Mate: Heatherblaze
Kits: Elmwish and Lovestrike
Comfreydance was born outside of the clan as a kitty-pet, spending most of his kittenhood like that. He was separated from his mother by two-legs very young, wrapped in a shiny box under a pine tree too a little boy. He doesn't talk about it much but his old Two-legs loved him alot at first, but that love quickly faded. They forgot to feed him, and play with him. He felt very lonely, in that empty house.
He had began to loose hope, when chance at freedom suddenly presented itself. His two-legs had forgot to close the front door, and he wasn't gonna pass it up.
Comfreydance came to the clan a scrawny kitten, but nowadays he's very happy and well fed. He decided to become a healer as he found interest in herbs and plants, and although he often slacks off on the job, he's very loved by Dreamingclan. A generally very sassy girl-dad with a beautiful mate.
When Redcrawl first came to Dreamingclan Comfreydance thought the two looked very similar. And as the two got to chat they realized they may have had the same mother. Comfreydance feels very awkward trying to be a big brother, which contrasts from his usual laid back personality. He also can't help but feel a bit jealous of a cat that got the childhood he always wanted.

What’s the most you’ve ever paid for a adoption fee
Here’s a little secret for you, if you take half dead cats they give you them for free. I always give a donation when I bring a cat home but only 3 of them actually had an adoption fee.
Arthur was $100, Maccready was $20 if I’m remembering right, and John was $10.
