Anyways, what is your opinion so far?

I especially like how it’s not a carbon copy of the anime, gives you something refreshing whilst still sticking to the overall storyline.

Please 😭 I’m obsessed with Buggy and that line had me sliding off the sofa. Jeff Ward is bringing the energy I wanted from Buggy (pathetic and desperate) but also…sexy in a confusing way.

I’m only 3 episodes in but I have some thoughts! (Nothing too spoilery but still sticking below a cut.)

Okay so.

Jacob is killing it as Usopp. He’s sooo charming, and I would happily let him tell me outlandish tales of sea adventures any day.

Emily as Nami is totally stealing the show for me in a good way. I’d watch 8 episodes of Nami having adventures tbh.

I’m slightly underwhelmed with Zoro so far, I feel like they leaned very heavily on the cool/collected swordsman image, when even early Zoro is a little goofy. The acting/delivery isn’t bad in any way, I think it’s just the writing and direction. But my feelings may change as the season progresses. His fight choreography is excellent though!

The sets and the costumes and the props are *chefs kiss.* I’m a huge fucking nerd for special effects and prop design, and the level of detail they put into this show is incredible.

I’m satisfied with the story changes they made to accelerate everyone meeting and advance the plot enough that this arc can be crammed into just 8 episodes. I’m viewing it as more of an interpretation/companion piece than feeling like it should be a literal 1-1 translation into live action.

Overall I’m really enjoying it so far, and can’t wait to see the rest!

Favorite scene(s) from the One Piece live action? (Just save this for when you've watched all of it, if you haven't already.)

i JUST watched the last episode and I have...so many. So I will try to keep it short lol. In no particular order:

Pretty much any scene between Garp and Koby--Garp teaching Koby (and the audience) about strategy and his philosophies

The whole Buggy sequence--god I wanna [redacted] that clown.

MIHAWK'S INTRO SCENE OMG HE WAS SOOOO BITCHY I WAS IN LOVE FROM THE TIME HE OPENED HIS MOUTH

The dinner party at Kaya's--it felt like a really good summary of everyone's personalities, and Kuro being a rat bastard

Sanji's introduction!! We immediately know that he's a little pretentious, a huge flirt, and has a love-hate relationship with his mentor but that there's clearly respect and understanding there.

"Luffy--help me." Emily Rudd slayed that delivery.

And of course, the Jolly Roger reveal in the last sequence of the final episode 😭

Thoughts on opla Sanji? 👀 (Sorry if you already answered this, I've been away for a bit.)

I think Taz has done an awesome job with making Sanji feel like a real person and not playing him like a caricature of the anime Sanji. They wrote him really well I think, and made him suave and charming! I’m only up to ep. 6 but I do hope they kept him a little cringefail (Buggy can’t be my only soggy wet man)—that’s part of anime Sanji’s charm is he can be smooth and sweet, but also kind of a loser at times.

Also, he’s hot. He’s so hot. He’s so pretty and his smile is so sweet and every time he smirks I blush.

Alright so, I'm so fucking glad they toned Sanji's horny bullshit down in the live action. Like, he still flirts, but it's not nearly as obnoxious. He's actually quite charming, imo! Much better than in the anime. (I love anime Sanji to bits, but there are some Problems.) I love that he was actually able to diffuse a situation by offering to cook for someone. That was so nice.

And he's so fucking sweet to Luffy and his crew too! And, God, its probably just Taz's smile (his acting skills, too, credit where it is die), but he looks so fucking tender, sometimes. He looks so cute! I just wanna smooch his cute, pretty face! And pet his hair! And give him hugs! He's a sweetie pie 😘 I wanna take him home with me for dinner (so long as he's the one cooking) and we can hang out afterwards. It'd be great 💖

I’ve watched enough I can answer this too!

Anime Sanji is sometimes so chivalrous that it horseshoes around to misogyny (disclaimer: I’m not trying to start discourse yall I promise, it’s just an observation and it doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of his character or his character arc/development…the simpery just feels excessive and annoying at times), so it was fun to see him be flirty without going full nosebleed. He’s so charming! If I went to a restaurant and had him as my waiter, I’d go back all the time 😭 Taz played Sanji in a way that like, I’d feel at ease around him. And he’s so handsome lakslfkshavah.

We got a Sanji shirtless scene in the live action, and that was nice, but my one complaint is that Taz looked too tense when he was sitting on the dock, after he pulled Luffy out of the water. Like, tense where you could see his abs and his muscles were probably clinched. I know that's a trend in media and tbh I didn't expect OPla to be the one to break it, it just kinda surprised me how much it bugged me. Mostly because I saw an interview thing where Taz was shirtless but relaxed/not posing, and it made me absolutely FERAL. I wanted to climb that man like a tree. Seeing him shirtless but posed in the live action was still nice, but it didn't QUITE hit the same note.

OKAY I WATCHED EP. 6 NOW CAN FINALLY ANSWER THIS ONE.

I was a little bothered by that very tense pose tbh. It felt like it was an intentional thirst moment, which, you know, I’m not complaining, but also it looked unnatural. He’s got an excellent body that he clearly worked hard for no matter how he’s posed so it just seemed off to have him like, flexing but idk. Standards for men in media are weird.

Also 👀 live action Zeff and Garp were hot 👀 Like, I am sorry, but those two looked like finely aged wine, and I can't help but admire them. They look very handsome 💕

I’ve seen a few more clips of Garp today and like…damn that man is a GILF. And the Scottish accent has me feeling some type of way…. The person that did the casting understood that every OP man is a hottie, including the old men, and hired accordingly.
